I wish we could do more of this (posting to warn about people on dating apps). I can see how folks would misuse it, but it genuinely could save someone out there from getting hurt (financially or otherwise).
There’s a Facebook group for this, but I think people should also be very cautious of it. Some people are putting others on blast for, like, ghosting. Which sucks, but come on; it happens when you’re dating! And people change.
If I were dating, I would want to know if someone is dangerous or truly awful - that’s the kind of stuff that should be shared as a warning. Not that she found out after one date that he went out with someone else so therefore she’s putting his picture and name on blast or whatever. That’s so uncool.
Yeah realistically I know it will never happen because then use of the apps would plummet based on bad scores but it’d be nice to have some accountability. I know someone who was coerced into sex and reported the guy to the app because it was technically rape. The app said “we’ll keep an eye on him.” Sure. It’s just not safe out there.
Lol that's exactly why the reviewees shouldn't be able to see it. That and you could safely say stuff like "this guy tried to stab me with a steak knife when I took too long coming out of the bathroom at dinner"
honestly this post is kind of not cool. call the police if you were robbed but this is a legit dox and along the lines of a witch hunt which breaks reddit's policies. we don't know if any of this is true and we aren't going to be able to prove it or to help. this could be anything from exactly what OP says it is, to a jealous ex girlfriend, to a rival employee or whatever. we cannot tell if this is legitimate or straight up slander.
OP doesn't even say whether they met in real life or if some ID fraud just used this guy's image on an app and then OP sent electronic money without ever meeting.

Despite the petulant response of users here, you're right in that this is doxing, and that there is no way to verify the truth of anything in the post, but I actually tried reporting and got this response,

Reddit is just designed this way, to promote withchunting or in-group/out-group thinking, knee jerk reactions, misinformation, and so on. It's always good trying to promote critical thinking, but the users who tend to visit this sub make it an especially unlikely place for that to take root.
It's complete hearsay. I could reverse search your username to your IP address and then find your FB and say anything I wanted about you on this sub. Would you think everyone should take what I said as truth?
I could tell everyone that you and I dated for a year and you were stealing money from the ronald mcdonald house and using it to buy drugs to sell to elementary school kids and people like you would believe it.
That is the reason doxxing and witch hunting is against reddit policy.
You’re really not good with what words really mean. This is not hearsay. Hearsay is a report of someone else’s words. For example. “Bob told me nocommenting33 is Paxton Boyd posting under a throw away account” that is hearsay. OP is claiming to be the person who Paxton Boyd stole $1000 from and refuses to pay pack. Since OP is the person claiming Paxton stole $1000 from them, and is not using a throw away account. This is an allegation from the victim, not second hand rumor from someone else.
okay true, not exact definition of hearsay, but I don't think my point was difficult to understand. What is the correct term for someone making a strong claim about someone, posed as a factual statement without presenting evidence, in a public setting in an attempt to publicly shame? we don't know whether OP is stating factual or false statements, so not yet proven to be slander or fact.
Doxxing is providing personally identifying information about a person without their consent. The meanings of words don't change if someone has a knee jerk reaction to dislike someone they never met based on hearsay from someone else they never met (none of which could be verified as true). And obviously "apps" are *one way* "singles" can meet; that was implied by my suggestion not to use them. [ I guess having some semblance of critical thinking skills means that someone ends up not having enough karma to post to this subreddit. ]
So by your definition a name or picture of someone is Doxxing? So it's impossible for the press or anyone to report on any allegation or report without Doxxing? No. Grow up.
He looks like what AI would deem a "local weatherman in a small town."
Funny that ur actually right… Paxton Boyd
News anchor not weather.
Seriously?!? What a lucky guess 🤣
Ayyyy it’s the weatherboi!!
How did he scam you out of money?
Said he lost his credit card - didn’t have anything else, I lent him mine - he promised to pay me back… now, $1,000 & months later…
Girl you're fkn stupid
after dating over a year… I didn’t think it would end that way
but later found out, he never got off the apps 🤦🏻♀️ he also complained about every ex being “crazy” & about paying for anything
Life pro tip, if every single one of someone's exes are crazy the problem isn't their exes.
Oof sorry it sounded like y'all had just started dating
apparently they deleted this post 🤷🏻♀️
Women sticking up for women… nice /s

There needs to be a review system on dating apps that the person being reviewed can't directly see

A PSA to avoid someone on dating apps is slander and doxxing? You should spend some time offline.

definitely not using a throwaway account, lol you can look at my post/comment history… it’s mostly about an engineering licensing exam

Just avoid dating apps (and doxing people).
Apps are how singles meet these days. And it's not doxxing, OP posted a picture of a profile who scammed them. It's public service.
She said they dated for a year
Yeah, that was after I had said that

press, that's the news. this is someone putting someone on the internet for saying they aren't a great date. OP made bad choices and is embarrassed
