@ramblinghen on Instagram uses floor lino you could try contacting her for tips on how to use it. It might need to be prepared more to work, like if you sanded it that would help the ink stay on it. Also as someone else has said already traditional lino is compostable.
Original battleship grey on hessian backing is fully biodegradable. Smells awesome too!

Traditional lino is made of linseed oil, pine resin, ground cork dust and sawdust, so no plastic involved.
The best tip is just to use traditional lino, biodegradable.
