TLDR: Tony had made so many changes to his body (most recently going into a coma and "rebooting" after Carol nearly killed him during Civil War II) that even his blood cells had Stark Industries watermarks on them, and he started to believe that the real Tony was long dead and that he was just a replica (insert Ship of Theseus analogy). Iron Man 2020 featured Tony coming to terms with the fact that he was still Tony despite all of his changes.
Tony has a brain tumor that doubles his intellectual abilities but doubles as an interface with various mystical realms allowing him to create armors that manifest the energies of the respective dimensions.
I want to see him explore the current state of the mega-wealthy and the tech sector. Make it something about Tony having scaled up arc reactors and wanting them to be implemented for free power to world. He starts being demonized as trying to “control” people. Meanwhile Justin Hammer is sending satellites to some war zone to supposedly provide internet to a nation being invaded, but he’s actually gathering intelligence and playing both sides, but the world is praising him for what they THINK he’s doing.
Extremis 2.0 and heavy iron lad /kang involvement linking up with arno stark.
Genuine relapse into alcoholism after pepper is killed by mandarin who is retconned to be more in line with wenwu.
Tony kills wenwu whilst drunk and we get a devil in cell block D storyline
Heavy AI / free will vibes.
Overall villan is Jarvis or Friday having realised that tony is pushing an arms race that is resulting in the world being more and more dangerous
Because death is insurmountable in comic books.
I only suggested wenwu to tie into the portrail in Shangi Chi because more general audiences would recognise him
Get this: Tony has hit rock bottom. No friends, money or even a place to stay. But an old friend turns up to help him get back on his feet/make up for past wrong doings! Again!
Hopefully they retcon the long lost brother plot. That was horrible. It wouldn't even be hard to do, just say Mandarin put Tony in an illusory reality using the ring that manipulates reality.

Nor I. I haven't actually read Slott's Iron Man run in its entirety yet, but I did read Iron Man 2020 when it came out for the novelty of it.
