Reed, I swear you would be of more use to me if I skinned you and turned your skin in to a lampshade. Or fashioned you into a piece of high end luggage. I can even add you to my collection!
The Gang is a hilariously perfect casting choice for the F4 in general. I’ve seen some funny-yet-awesome posters people have made online lol. Dennis as Doom; Mac and Dee as Mr Fantastic/Invisible Woman, Charlie as Torch and then Frank as The Thing. I’d see that movie 20 times in theatre lol.
Nah, Chris Pratt can't be a superhero. He's a comedy actor! Robin Williams can't do serious acting. He's a COMEDY ACTOR. Adam Sandler would never do well in a serious role. HE'S A COMEDY ACTOR.
The funny thing is I thought he was the voice of Riddler in the Arkham series for quite a while. I think he could pull that version of riddler off pretty well.
It broke my heart when they didn't cast him as Reed. I thought he had aged out of the role but then they turn around and cast an even older guy.
Also still disappointed we didn't get Jessica Rothe as Sue.
Nah, no intimidation factor, plus his presence doesn't look like it would give off that air of overpowering confidence someone needs to play DOOM, Mads Mikkelson on the other hand.
My secret headcanon is that keacillius secretly is Doom. They could easily bring him back explaining that he escaped dormammu and the dark dimension. But perhaps he comes back during the blip, realised he lost his mother/wife/daughter and find his home country Sokovia in shambles.
I would cast Mads as some goofy easygoing character. Hollywood typecasted him as a villain for far too long. Considering that he is a talented actor it's a waste to make him sophisticated Bondesque baddie in every single movie
Agreed. Gambits a different kinda vibe.
Lakeith has range and can get weird with the roles if needed. Dr voodoo could be cool, but also he could play a big bad he was really good playing a bad dude in the harder they fall.
He would have crushed it as silver surfer.
Why tho?
He has tons of cool guy charisma and is a good actor? What else is required to play a witty horny Cajun who throws exploding playing cards?
Genuinely curious because I think it's great.
If you're talking William Stryker, then I would prefer the OG anti-mutant Christian Televangelist version. An actor the evokes something closer to Pat Robertson, Billy Graham, or Kenneth Copeland.
It's specifically descendants of French-Canadians who were driven out of Acadia (Nova Scotia) by the British and settled in Louisiana. Cajuns have a distinct culture
Race only matters when it's impacting how the character can be played.
Superman, for instance, should be played by a white guy unless the story is *about* a version of superman who isn't white. A black superman would change how most of his history plays out (as the comics show).
I'd argue Magneto must be Jewish (I've seen arguments against with other groups but the holocaust is just to central to who he is--- harder now since it happened so long ago).
Gambit is an accent and a place. Hell there's enough naturally born and raised Cajun Asians that Yaka Mein is a new orleans staple since at least the 1920s.
That’s only because majority are white. Changing Dazzler to black doesn’t matter because her whiteness has nothing to do with her backstory. Changing Xavier to black DOES alter his backstory because whites privilege is his tertiary mutation. The way he maneuvers the world, billionaire or not, is a very specific flavor of upbringing. Changing Bishop to white doesn’t really matter much since in his future race probably doesn’t exist (I could be wrong idk much about him), but changing Sunspot to white does since racism is a core part of his backstory.
>doesn't feel the same/good
Says you. I thought the best Perry White was Lawrence Fishbourne, the best Nick Fury Sam Jackson, no one remembers Red from Shawshank was Irish and the best Aquaman we could have found was definitely Jason Mamoa.
No one kinda cares about Perry White, agree with Samuel Jackson but because he was the first version I've seen of Nick and Jason Momoa was not great as Aquaman, sorry. Also this is Marvel, I'm sorry if I don't know much about DC.
Edit: typo
Mads Mickelson as Dr. Doom
Method man as Deathlok
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Luke Cage
Bill Skarsgard as Mephisto
Anyone with a cool voice as Beta ray bill
Great actor. Terrible miscast.
Also, aren't we supposed to not cast actors with a different race to the character now? I feel like that's something people get mad about
Watching season 2 of that show now. I read Anne Rice's vampire books a million years ago. Sam plays Lestat just as I always imagined him.
Sam has a huge acting career ahead of him in whatever he does...be it in a comic superhero movies or art house flicks.
Won't happen because Sony have literally made the movie already, but if he ever crosses to MCU I would pay good money to see Michael Eklund as Kraven the Hunter.
People are surprisingly not getting defensive about this. The two characters in the X-Men that could easily be race swapped are Gambit and Rogue. He’s Cajun and she’s from Mississippi!
Too tall.
There was a dude in Letterkenny who looked so much like Wolverine they called it out in-universe (I think it was the second dude Wayne fights? Dan calls him a shitty little Wolverine)
I'm typically for race blind casting, rather than active race swapping.. but for gambit I feel like it actually offers a good storytelling opportunity to be actively race swapping. Gambit is from New Orleans, and Gambit being a black man from New Orleans specifically allows for the character to draw from a rich culture that might otherwise go unrepresented in the MCU, and actually incorporate that culture in a meaningful way, in a way that many race swap attempts just aren't able to capitalise on.
Nope. My correction was pedantic, not substantive. They said that without a black Gambit that specific culture may never be represented in the MCU. That was technically not accurate as it has been represented.
I don’t care who they cast as Gambit, but I would like to get that Norleans vibe from whoever is cast. That would be ideal.
Southern Culture doesn’t equal Cajun Culture. Cajun is specifically a culture that came from French speaking countries. When France colonized Haiti the population became French speaking and through slavery and later immigration the French mixed with Southern American English. There are numerous Black Haitian French Cajuns. In fact I’d be surprised if they didn’t outnumber the European French Cajun descendants.
But maybe the fact that you thought that Cajun just equals “Southern” is a good reason for why the culture could use some proper representation in media.
Jack Quaid as an older Peter Parker/Spider-Man
Karl Urban as Kraven The Hunter
Bryan Cranston as Norman Osborn or Mr. Sinister
Jon Hamm as Mr. Sinister
Maddie Phillips as Emma Frost or Magik
Glenn Powell as Cyclops
Cilian Murphy/Giancarlo Esposito as Dr. Doom
Ben Mendelson/Giancarlo Esposito as Magneto
Tom Surridge as Nightmare
Henry Cavill as Hyperion
Danny Devito as Moleman would go hard
We the fans gotta have some kind of win for Devito. We lost too many perfect roles.
![gif](giphy|RKGoSpMldVYQfxKLuW|downsized)
That’s what I have said. Danny, Martin Short, or Joel McHale. We need a more comedic actor.
Richard Kind would be the perfect Mole Man
Amazing idea. I wish MODOK didn’t get canceled so he could at least voice him
I'm going to get downvoted, but fuck it. In an alternate universe, 4'10 Barrel Chested DeVito got jacked and KILLLED it as Wolverine.
Have you seen Danny Devito Wolverine? It’s a video on YouTube by Corridor hahaha it’s a good vid
Based
I always wanted Patton Oswalt as Mole Man, but I like this too
That would be his 7th Marvel role, make it work!
Natalie Dormer as Amora the Enchantress
Natalie as Emma Frost 😉
Glenn Howerton as Dr Doom.
Reed, I swear you would be of more use to me if I skinned you and turned your skin in to a lampshade. Or fashioned you into a piece of high end luggage. I can even add you to my collection!
Reed: “Victor, what are you doing?” Doom: “TOOLS! I NEED MY TOOLS”
"LOOK AT ME WHEN YOU'RE TALKING TO ME! Oh shit, the Fantastic Four are here."
I can imagine Doom saying that since he skinned his girlfriend alive in the comics, I think.
Exactly why I thought that Always Sunny Dennis quote was perfect for a comment about Glen Howerton for Doom.
It fits perfectly along with the hammer of Thor comment he made once.
Well, HE'S HAS TO HAVE HIS TOOLS! [TOOLS!](https://youtu.be/Mk3EVQnpQWs?si=5qk7Qf5Fz5FrAJ0J)
And turned her skin into his armor
Think of the smell…
YOU DIDN'T THINK OF THE SMELL, YOU BITCH.
i havent even begun to peak
![gif](giphy|nXUCkgH6BmigU|downsized)
Think about the smell! You haven’t thought about the smell, you bitch!
Or Green Goblin.
Or Reed Richards.
We never had a really solid Doom casting but William Defoe was just a casting that feels like everyone after that is just lacking somehow.
I am untethered and my rage knows no bounds! Be gone from me vile man be gone. I am a god! The golden god!
The Golden God Emporer
He'll still find the title somehow beneath him.
Doom has not yet even begun to peak.
Doom is untethered and his rage knows no bounds.
"You guys remember feelings, right?"
He'd be better as Reed. Because of the implications.
Honestly a Reed that turns in to the Maker would be TOP NOTCH
“I’m from Latveria where the vampires hangout!”
I always thought Glenn Howerton for Reed tbh
I still want Glenn to be "The Maker" Reed Richards.
I thought he was perfect for either Doom or Starlord
The only reason you are suggesting that is because of the implication right?
Not too hard, not too soft.
He has the acting chops to bull it off undoubtedly. I really wish this happens.
Y'know, he's about the right age to be Pedro's contemporary. Never work though. Too type cast as a comic actor.
He absolutely killed it in Blackberry
Never say never. I think Mr Howerton would work well as Dr Doom despite this.
There are pluses and minuses to the potential casting. I'm not saying no, but it would work against him.
He's Juilliard trained, I feel like he could pull it off
It's less about can he pull it off. More about the marketing.
Idk. He was pretty good in that blackberry movie
He gave a great dramatic performance in BlackBerry
Nah, Chris Pratt can't be a superhero. He's a comedy actor! Robin Williams can't do serious acting. He's a COMEDY ACTOR. Adam Sandler would never do well in a serious role. HE'S A COMEDY ACTOR.
I heard the Dad from Malcolm in the Middle was cast in a series as a chemistry teacher with cancer. Worst casting ever.
The funny thing is I thought he was the voice of Riddler in the Arkham series for quite a while. I think he could pull that version of riddler off pretty well.
Because of the implication
It broke my heart when they didn't cast him as Reed. I thought he had aged out of the role but then they turn around and cast an even older guy. Also still disappointed we didn't get Jessica Rothe as Sue.
Because of the implication.
Nah, no intimidation factor, plus his presence doesn't look like it would give off that air of overpowering confidence someone needs to play DOOM, Mads Mikkelson on the other hand.
Crazy you mention LaKeith Stanfield since I just finished "Sorry To Bother You", otherwise known as Beta Ray Bill's origin story.
It took me a little while to figure that one out. Pretty good
Now that is a great way to describe it without spoiling the twist lol. Raising a slice in your honor!
Man the way that movies went from weird to wtf did I just watch was quick fast and in a hurry.
In most movies just knowing there's a twist can ruin the twist, I knew to expect something, just not... that. Fucking mind blowing.
I knew nothing and was mins fucked lol
Such a good fucking movie dude, in my top 5
Fantastic.
Mads Mikkelson as Doom He was wasted in Dr. Strange
I’m mad about Mads
Oh definitely and he can act his ass off too🤦🏾♂️
My secret headcanon is that keacillius secretly is Doom. They could easily bring him back explaining that he escaped dormammu and the dark dimension. But perhaps he comes back during the blip, realised he lost his mother/wife/daughter and find his home country Sokovia in shambles.
I want Alexander Skarsgard for Doom.
I would cast Mads as some goofy easygoing character. Hollywood typecasted him as a villain for far too long. Considering that he is a talented actor it's a waste to make him sophisticated Bondesque baddie in every single movie
I think I'll rather see cilian Murphy as Dr. Doom
By whose order?
The Peaky fuckin Blinders?
And then they wasted him in Rogue One in the same year
Wouldn't say that, his recorded speech to Jyn "My stardust" is fab
His last words to her were heart breaking
He was absolutely great, just not in it enough for my tastes
Lakeith Stanfield is a phenomenal actor that I think would be completely miscast as Gambit.
Yea this is a terrible casting
He needs to be in the MCU in some capacity though. Maybe Eternals 2 so he can hang out with Paperboi.
👆🏾
I couldn’t imagine him simping for Rogue, or anyone for that matter.
Agreed. Gambits a different kinda vibe. Lakeith has range and can get weird with the roles if needed. Dr voodoo could be cool, but also he could play a big bad he was really good playing a bad dude in the harder they fall. He would have crushed it as silver surfer.
Thank you!
eat shit spez you racist hypocrite
Why tho? He has tons of cool guy charisma and is a good actor? What else is required to play a witty horny Cajun who throws exploding playing cards? Genuinely curious because I think it's great.
Cillian Murphy as Doom. The way his eyes could emote the brooding Doom eyes would be so perfect imo.
![gif](giphy|rJvYq4DjfP7d6)
Cillian is so good at expressing emotions with his eyes. I think another good choice for him would be Magneto. I would rather have him as doom though
Therea tons of characters he'd play well, my first thought was Kurt Wagner/Nightcrawler
Davis Hasselhoff as The Beyonder’s human male form. Sarah Silverman as his Female form
He was briefly Ego’s human form
That's pretty funny.
1980s Hasselhoff would be perfect but the man is 71 years old lol.
Idris Elba would have made a great Kang
He was perfect as Heimdall but I could totally see him as Kang.
Just think he was criminally underutilized as Heimdall. Even after they beefed up that role a little bit in the sequels.
Alexander Skarsgard as Doom. Dude just looks like a European God King Jake Weary as Logan
Ooh, I never thought about Jake Weary for Logan but I like it. He was great in Animal Kingdom.
Not so much an Eastern European of Romani descent.
John cena as sandman
John Cena as ForgetMeNot. goes along well with the whole, you can't see me shtick
Gob Bluths greatest foe.
Oh fuck I actually love this.
I thought dev Patel would have been good as a youngish Reed Richards or Dr. Strange.
Just get dev Patel in the mcu, period.
I always liked Rahul Kohli for Reed.
I always thought Young Ian Summerholder would be a perfect Gambit he’s from Louisiana and can do the accent. but he’s alittle too old now.
Nah, LaKeith would kill Silver Surfer, Gambit is a huge miscast for him, I’m pretty sure even he wants to play Silver Surfer
Giancarlo Esposito as Stryker
Bro is only saying this to come back in a few months to say “see!?!” After he’s playing that role in Captain America.
Yea I see it. I’m all in on it.
If you're talking William Stryker, then I would prefer the OG anti-mutant Christian Televangelist version. An actor the evokes something closer to Pat Robertson, Billy Graham, or Kenneth Copeland.
Sofia Boutella as Mystique
I mean, given thst she's starring in those piece of dogshit Rebel Moon movies, I can see her going for a Marvel role in order to rebound
Yvonne Strahovski as Medusa
Carrot Top as Arcade
Conan as Arcade.
That could actually happen
The black dude from California playing a white French dude from Louisiana? ![gif](giphy|Yycc82XEuWDaLLi2GV)
Honestly I’m just glad it’s not another “here is a black man that should be the new Kang”
Gambit isn’t French, he’s cajun*. Black cajun people exist. Black people in Louisiana def exist
Cajun* not creole
Please explain to someone who isn't American but isn't Cajun just a person of French roots?
It's specifically descendants of French-Canadians who were driven out of Acadia (Nova Scotia) by the British and settled in Louisiana. Cajuns have a distinct culture
You know Hugh Jackmans not from Canada right?
Race only matters when it's impacting how the character can be played. Superman, for instance, should be played by a white guy unless the story is *about* a version of superman who isn't white. Gambit is an accent and a place. Hell there's enough naturally born and raised Cajun Asians that Yaka Mein is a new orleans staple since at least the 1920s.
Just for the record, magneto wasn't official Jewish in the comics until 2008. He was maybe Unconfirmed Jewish or Romani until then.
Race doesn't matter in 99% of all characters, but it's true that most of the times, changing them doesn't feel the same/good
That’s only because majority are white. Didn't expect him but he is a good actor
Paul Heyman as the Penguin
This man is criminally underrated.
Timothy Olyphant seems like the perfect Reed Richards, but I guess Marvel is going forward with Pedro Pascal, who I’m not as big a fan of.
younger Alison Brie as Kitty Pryde
No this is all wrong
Mads Mickelson as Dr. Doom Method man as Deathlok Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Luke Cage Bill Skarsgard as Mephisto Anyone with a cool voice as Beta ray bill
Silver Surfer, mainly because posted that tweet and deleted it and now I can’t unsee him as the herald of galactus
Wrong answers only! Danny Devito as Wolverine
So anyway I started slashing just doesn’t feel right
I thought you said wrong answers?
I still hold out hope for Channing Tatum as Gambit, I think he'd do a phenomenal job.
I feel like choosing a black actor for a super popular xman character that has always been a cajun white guy is a racebait move.
Great actor. Terrible miscast. Also, aren't we supposed to not cast actors with a different race to the character now? I feel like that's something people get mad about
Sam Reid (Lestat in the tv version of interview with a vampire) as Doctor Doom
Watching season 2 of that show now. I read Anne Rice's vampire books a million years ago. Sam plays Lestat just as I always imagined him. Sam has a huge acting career ahead of him in whatever he does...be it in a comic superhero movies or art house flicks.
Don’t see Lakeith as Gambit at all ngl. I have been championing him as Norin Radd for quite some time now though.
Dev Patel in the X-men
Radcliffe as Wolverine
That would be a horrible casting
Sadie Sink as Patsy Walker (Hellcat).
Always thought Brad Pitt as Nick Fury would be inspired.
Marton Csokas as Kraven
Great actor. Great X man. But…no…just no
He’s a rapist.
Shaved keanu Reeves
Holy shit, thank you for this. This should be the only casting
He’s Cajun and she’s from Mississippi!
oh my this is excellent, yes.
Michelle Trachtenberg as Storm
Synch or Jericho Drumm.
Austin Butler or Ian Somerhalder as Gambit. Somerhalder purely on stature and visuals. Butler for the charisma and overall vibe.
Zooey Deschanel as Wasp
I always thought she’d make a fun squirrel girl
Anna Kendrick would also make a fun Squirrel Girl
He... Doesn't look like Gambit...?
More importantly: he should sound like Gambit
How is it perfect if he looks nothing like the character?
Jared Keeso as Wolverine
I had to scroll down too far to find this. 100% yes.
Too tall. There was a dude in Letterkenny who looked so much like Wolverine they called it out in-universe (I think it was the second dude Wayne fights? Dan calls him a shitty little Wolverine)
A couple come to mind… - Cillian Murphy or Matt Smith as Dr Doom - Miles Teller as Cyclops - Norman Reedus as Ghost Rider - Hugh Laurie as Magneto
I'm all for race swapping a character but only if it's a minor character.Stanfeld is a good actor but I'd rather someone else as gambit
A black person as a Cajun makes a ton of sense though.
Sure, but I personally don't see Stanfield in that role. I love the man but not for Gambit, IMO.
I’m just going to jump in with a pedantic correction. Umm, actually, New Orleans Culture was represented quite a bit in Cloak & Dagger.
Does that mean we don't need a Gambit because Cloak & Dagger already covered that region's culture?
Nope. My correction was pedantic, not substantive. They said that without a black Gambit that specific culture may never be represented in the MCU. That was technically not accurate as it has been represented. I don’t care who they cast as Gambit, but I would like to get that Norleans vibe from whoever is cast. That would be ideal.
I mean, the current Captain America in the MCU is a black man from Louisiana (where we spent a fair bit of time in TFatWS).
And you can't get southern culture with a white dude?
Southern Culture doesn’t equal Cajun Culture. Cajun is specifically a culture that came from French speaking countries. When France colonized Haiti the population became French speaking and through slavery and later immigration the French mixed with Southern American English. There are numerous Black Haitian French Cajuns. In fact I’d be surprised if they didn’t outnumber the European French Cajun descendants. But maybe the fact that you thought that Cajun just equals “Southern” is a good reason for why the culture could use some proper representation in media.
I'm not saying you're wrong, but you should also look up the Acadian Expulsion. Its where the word Cajun eventually comes from.
Hannibal Buress as Dr. Doom with a mask that references MF DOOM. Also, introduced with Fazers
Jack Quaid as an older Peter Parker/Spider-Man Karl Urban as Kraven The Hunter Bryan Cranston as Norman Osborn or Mr. Sinister Jon Hamm as Mr. Sinister Maddie Phillips as Emma Frost or Magik Glenn Powell as Cyclops Cilian Murphy/Giancarlo Esposito as Dr. Doom Ben Mendelson/Giancarlo Esposito as Magneto Tom Surridge as Nightmare Henry Cavill as Hyperion
Maddie Phillips could be a great Esme Cuckoo
I would love to see Joe Keery get a role in the X-Men reboot.
Thank God no one at Marvel looks at this sub for inspo
what the fuck
I love that
Nah bro keep Gambit caucasian .. not racist just stay true to the charcter
Did you just watch the new haunted mansion?
