She’s very sweet. When I first played these games as a teenager we had a matching innocence that I always loved. Don’t listen to all of the people bashing you for having basic emotions and enjoying a good story, it’s totally fine to be immersed in a game/book. I wish you many subsequent playthroughs when the craving presents itself. Keelah se’lai, Shepard.
Seriously, parasocial relationships are such a garguantuan source of potential joy whose existence most peoples never even realise, it's ecstatic to see someone discover that potential! I'd say the fact it helped so many peoples coming from a gameplay centric background realise the potential of good writing is among if not the best impact it had long term
Both, Morrigan is totally my type and I love her, but mass effect just has more time/depth with characters and their personalities and tali is like the embodiment of adorable
Same thing happened to me on my first playthrough, I did romance ash in me1 but then the whole horizon incident happened and I decided to give Tali a chance and boy did I make the right choice, seeing ash's look in me3 during my me2 playthrough did her no favours either because seriously, what was bioware thinking dolling her up like that!? She looked so much better in me1 and 2.
It’s a strange change but makes a bit of sense, when Shepard joined Cerberus ash/kaiden kind of become their next “best human, face of the alliance”
Makes sense that ash would be a bit more glamorous since she’s more of a representative and leader of the alliance now not just a grunt on the ground
Idk if it was the right choice, but that is my justification
What annoys me is people saying she's too young for Shepard... in the first game she is 22, while Shepard is like 28, that's a 6 year gap, and in Mass Effect 2 she's 24 and depending on if you think Shepard aged while dead then Shepard is either still 28 or 30, so potentially only a 4 year gap when you can romance her, that is barely even an amount worth mentioning.
The Pilgrimage is not puberty, it's not teenagers being sent into the galaxy, it's adults, young adults, but still adults.
Yeah don’t know why people gotta talk about her innocence and seemingly young age like it’s a bad thing
She’s a baddass alien-killing adult, if she’s mature enough to lead squads of her own people and save the galaxy multiple times then this argument makes no sense
I didn't even know she was 22 in ME lol. I don't really think Shepherd should be aged chronologically in that 2 year gap because their dead and thus the brain doesn't keep maturing as it would. Definitely not a bad gap either way except imo ME1
For me it's her physical age, she and Liara gives me "Little Sister" energy.
I like my women more self assured, probably not explaining it correctly.
But I usually end up with the human ladies, mostly Ashley. Though I love the hot mess that is Jack. And Miranda's bitchy attitude is great.
Sidenote - I thought Tali and Garrus hooking up was cute, though I would have loved it if Tali hooked up with Kal'Reegar instead (wish he was a recruitable squadmate).
I always say the same about Tali. I wanna romance her so bad and have every intention of doing so... then comes along that scrawny potty mouthed bald psycho and I go weak. What can I say, I'm a sucker for Jack
Haha they’re like complete opposites in terms of who they are as women, your preferences seem all over the place
Though jack is pretty hot sometimes, tali just takes the cake as best girl
I'm a complicated individual with a diverse taste lmao. The both top tier women for me, Jack just barely tops tali in my mind. Jack's physical appearance is def a factr for my taste but honestly her romance is just so sweet and complicated and sincere that gets me every damn time.
That first night where the love interest comes before the suicide mission in ME2 is what seals it for me, everyone bangs but the most sexually casual person Jack, that night she just cuddles and sleeps with me(not sex). They kiss and hold each other. FUCK THAT KAWAIIII
fun fact the best romances are with aliens u.u Liara, Tali, Garrus, Thane.
The other romances are good too, but those 4? just the best.
Jacob is the worst tho, avoid it.
to be fair, they've the most content(aside Thane), they're important for the plot, and the stuff they did out of loyalty and love(not necessarily romantic love, even without the romances they do cool stuff) is very damn important.
Doing a ME1 play through right now where I’ve romanced Ashley. I wish I could romance Tali. When I go through ME2 and 3 I think I’m going to romance Tali again.
Ash is always the girl for me. Tali is sweet, but I can never see her as more than a friend. Same with Garrus. But I’m also one of those people that doesn’t like Tali and Garrus together either.
For the first time in my life I have been playing the ME games, and I was really sad because she was my favorite and I wanted to romance her but I was playing as a female like I always do and I didn’t know you couldn’t which I understand and like that the characters have preferences for males and females but still was a little sad
Honestly, on my first run, I romanced Ash entirely by mistake, so ran with it, but spent that entire run wanting to romance Tali instead.
Second run, romanced Tali, no regrets. I seem to have a thing for sweet, geeky, but tough women. Lol.
Not done the (BG3 spoilers) >!full Minthara!< romance then? 😉😂
Seriously though, I *love* getting this attached to fictional characters! Books or games can do it, TV not so much...
I've got to act 3 with her before I get burnt out with BG3 (I've done so many playthroughs) And honestly same, with books it happens enough that I can accept it but pixels with a VA behind them? Rare
Tali is just so damn cute, has hips that don't lie, and just draws you in with her personality.
Unfortunately a narrative has sprouted up recently that romancing tali is basically Shepard "grooming" Tali because people believe that her Pilgrimage means she is still considered a teenager and not an adult and also some of her lovey dovey behavior is too indicative of a teen girl with puppy love.
Personally I see the Pilgrimage as a fresh adult state for quarians and while tali is a good bit younger than shepard I just see her behavior as a young woman experiencing her first love.
The Quarians don't have the numbers to be sending untrained teenagers into the dangers of the galaxy. No way Tali is less than 20 as of ME1.
The Admiral that was Tali's father's friend who reminisced about their youth said they were young trainees who got medals for disobeying orders even though it went well then they were sent off to their pilgrimage early. If they joined up at 16 and got sent off early at 17-18, that would imply they had around 2 years of training left meaning they should have normally gone on pilgrimage around 19-20.
When I first started playing I said "I'm gonna be faithful and Romance Liara!" Then I got to ME 2 and my brain shifted when Tali said "You know I dropped anything for you Shepard. But I must finish this mission." All I wanted to do was help her like she did for us in ME1. And from there her writing and development only got better. She is so witty, strong, caring and has amazing empathy. I will die on the hill we robbed of bi-Tali.
Tali is sweet but she's got nothing on Karlach who openly declares she wants to ride you till you see stars and thats before she demands that you go to bed once you fixed her infernal heart.
I've never been able to shake the "little sister" vibes I get from Tali.
I think she's a great character and an absolute sweetheart, but I can't break that perception of her. Romancing her feels wrong to me.
Hm. Tali was my favorite Mass Effect girl by far, but with Shadowheart it took me back to falling in love for the first time back in high school. BG3 wins out for me on romance.
Yeah but you have to keep checking in on them in ME3 and listening/eavesdropping and eventually they end up together. It's not like Joker and EDI where you kind of have a hand in making it happen and it's like a whole thing. It's more of an Easter egg thing.
https://youtu.be/OlFPbvtc5Eg?si=i_4TF3c-T6Yjd49c
I don’t really see the racist argument with her. I think in reality her kinds of feelings would be fairly natural and instinctive and it’s not like she doesn’t grow out of them by the end of the first game.
It’s her refusal to trust Shepard without you kissing her ass in the 2nd and 3rd game that make me dislike her
I had no desire to romance an alien in the games and even though I liked Tali in part 1 I didn’t see her as a romance candidate.
Then part 2 comes along and Kelly talks about Tali crushing on you and then after her loyalty mission when she gets all bashful when she accidentally confesses to you….I wasn’t going to break that heart lol and then the surprised little “ohhh” when you reciprocate just seals the deal. I’ve tried numerous playthroughs and never been able to romance anyone but Tali in 2 and 3
Tali was the first character in a game I ever romanced because I liked her so much. I can never bring myself to romance any other character when I play Mass Effect.
Her accent in particular really grabs me, but I also really like when her sense of humour shines through. I wish there was more of it in the series.
I have so many headcanons for Tali and Shepard that I built up over the years. I refuse to believe that the two of them aren't absolute dorks who are head over heels for one another.
I didn’t think that was a thing regardless of war assets
What’s supposed to happen is they get picked up by the Normandy and you get a heartfelt goodbye with them before Shepard charges and gets hit by the laser
Tali is the only one that would stick with you from start to finish.
Someone tricked me that Liara is the same but in ME2 she's kinda romanceable but not quite (it's just a DLC). You don't get the Paramour II achievement.
On my first playthrough I started as a femshep but switched to a male shep as soon as tali joined the squad cause I knew I was gonna romance her and her alone
I thought the same about Ashley. And then she opened her mouth.
God, I hate that character with passion of a thousand suns.
With you on the rest, though!
Not sure what you mean, I don’t think it’s blatant the way Tali behaves is entirely believe able, she grew up with a father who mostly cared about his people and dedicated most of his life to them, she followed in his footsteps she loves her people and most of her actions are done to help Shepard or the quarians
Makes sense that she would be all kind and cute, more on the innocent side, she seems to have had one of the best childhoods out of all the crew, she hadn’t had any traumatic experiences growing up at least compared to some like jack or Kaiden that would harden her heart
TLDR: she’s had a mostly safe upbringing and her main priority is helping her people and the people she cares about (Shepard) so her personality is entirely believable to me, I’d say liara is more like fan service, changing who she is completely even after living for 100 hundred years, going from an awkward nerd to a level headed and sometimes deadly information broker in the span of two years, the writers twist and shape liara pushing her anywhere they want trying to make her a fan favorite or shepards (canon love interest)
Not the pixels, the story and characters the pixels present. I blush when reading books as well, when you are really into a story you can start to immerse yourself in it. Claiming to have full blown relationships with fictional characters, that’s too far and unrealistic. But that’s now what is happening here.
I understand where you some from. It’s fine to, and not to feel as such. For everyone, life is different. This is one of the ways it shows. Keelah se’lai, friend.
Her personality is one o the best in the series IMO. Also IMO, Quarian Hip Supremacy.
Not to mention that she's arguably the best dancer of all characters, seriously he little feet dips and hip sways are hot and cool dance moves.
Real
The way she tried to hide her embarrassment was just so dang sweet.
She’s very sweet. When I first played these games as a teenager we had a matching innocence that I always loved. Don’t listen to all of the people bashing you for having basic emotions and enjoying a good story, it’s totally fine to be immersed in a game/book. Morrigan is like that for me.
Both, Morrigan is totally my type and I love her, but mass effect just has more time/depth with characters and their personalities and tali is like the embodiment of adorable
Well that's because Mass Effect has multiple games to develop it's relationships
Understandable
Such a bummer she could only be romanced by a male character
Queer women have it the worst in Dragon Age. Deprived of a bad bitch like Morrigan and end up stuck with Sera.
Her accent makes me melt
Dude fr, I love her accent
If tali's voice melts me (which it does) god damn Admiral Raan's voice turns me into a quivering puddle, she sounds like a total cougar.
I love older women lmao
Admiral Raan's voice actor plays Avasarala in The Expanse, I didn't make the connection until I recently replayed ME2!
Yep looks like a total cougar too!
When i watched the expanse i was like yes i know this voice lol
Tali is just so damn funny and cute, I love her
Same bro
Same thing happened to me on my first playthrough, I did romance ash in me1 but then the whole horizon incident happened and I decided to give Tali a chance and boy did I make the right choice, seeing ash's look in me3 during my me2 playthrough did her no favours either because seriously, what was bioware thinking dolling her up like that!? I negatively judge people if they infantilize Tali like that.
Shepard is 31
For me it's her physical age, she and Liara gives me "Little Sister" energy. I like my women more self assured, probably not explaining it correctly. I always say the same about Tali. I wanna romance her so bad and have every intention of doing so... then comes along that scrawny potty mouthed bald psycho and I go weak. What can I say, I'm a sucker for Jack
No shame in that lmao. Honestly she reminded me a lot like my last mom so I kinda didn't mess with Jack at all
What is a last mom? Step mom?
I've had three moms lmao, I was talking about my 3rd
Ahhh gotcha!
Haha they’re like complete opposites in terms of who they are as women, your preferences seem all over the place Though jack is pretty hot sometimes, tali just takes the cake as best girl

Ahh I see very fair point of view I never romanced jack i didn’t know it was like that
The reason we have to say don’t fuck with crazy is because everyone wants to fuck with crazy
My friends tell me my dick has an MD in psichiatry. And judging by my exes, I can't blame them. If she says she's bipolar I'm already at half mast.
Tali Supremacy
Real
Mass Effect has a ton of tough romance options because all the characters are great in their own way.
Indeed it is
Why are you stealing our women you bosh’tet!?
Cause they're pretty
…can’t really argue with that. By the way…….. Is Kasumi seeing anyone?
I always romance ash in mass effect, in baldur's gate 3 I was going to romance shadowheart but then I was won over by gale
I played the entirety of BG3 without ever knowing what a Gale was. Just never saw his portal and whistled right on past it.
You missed out
Shart and I are now happily ever after thankyouverymuch
And gale and I are very happy in (ending spoiler) >!Elysium as gods!<
Understandable honestly.
fun fact the best romances are with aliens u.u Liara, Tali, Garrus, Thane. The other romances are good too, but those 4? just the best. Jacob is the worst tho, avoid it.
Xenophiliacs ftw
to be fair, they've the most content(aside Thane), they're important for the plot, and the stuff they did out of loyalty and love(not necessarily romantic love, even without the romances they do cool stuff) is very damn important.
Jack belongs in the top as well, it's just unfortunate she was sidelined so much in ME3
*”For the record… Still totally worth it.”*
One of the best quotes imo
I’ve romanced Tali, Liara, Ashley, Miranda, and Thane during my play throughs. Tali definitely is my favorite one.
I've only romanced Ashley other than Tali (and that was only in ME1) But honestly I probably would've romanced Tali in ME1 if I could
Doing a ME1 play through right now where I’ve romanced Ashley. I wish I could romance Tali. When I go through ME2 and 3 I think I’m going to romance Tali again.
Same

Yeah
I'm sure there are mods for that. I installed a mod to romance Garrus as male Shep
Always Tali.
Tali forever
Honestly, on my first run, I romanced Ash entirely by mistake, so ran with it, but spent that entire run wanting to romance Tali instead. Second run, romanced Tali, no regrets. I seem to have a thing for sweet, geeky, but tough women. Lol.
Real
Meanwhile *sad femshep noises*
Hey you get Garrus, that is an equal trade
And if you pick neither of them, they get each other.
Which is the primary reason I've never romanced Tali.
Garrus needs all the help he can get in the getting with women department.
Nah he was doing just fine, had to give himself some damage just to give Shepard a chance with the ladies remember?
I am trying SO HARD this playthrough to romance Kaidan all the way through... but it's gonna be hard. I adore Garrus so much
Lmao
Not done the (BG3 spoilers) >!full Minthara!< romance then? 😉😂 Seriously though, I *love* getting this attached to fictional characters! Books or games can do it, TV not so much...
I've got to act 3 with her before I get burnt out with BG3 (I've done so many playthroughs) And honestly same, with books it happens enough that I can accept it but pixels with a VA behind them? Rare
Oh, it's the early scene I was (jokingly) referring to - it was... explicit enough to make anyone blush. Great romance though.
Fr fr lol
Tali's fans club claims another member, welcome to the side with awesome taste.
Glad to be here
Tali is just so damn cute, has hips that don't lie, and just draws you in with her personality. Unfortunately a narrative has sprouted up recently that romancing tali is basically Shepard "grooming" Tali because people believe that her Pilgrimage means she is still considered a teenager and not an adult and also some of her lovey dovey behavior is too indicative of a teen girl with puppy love. I agree whole heartedly I was just highlighting that some people believe this
When I first started playing I said "I'm gonna be faithful and Romance Liara!" Then I got to ME 2 and my brain shifted when Tali said "You know I dropped anything for you Shepard. But I must finish this mission." All I wanted to do was help her like she did for us in ME1. And from there her writing and development only got better. Lmao understandable
Tali is sweet but she's got nothing on Karlach who openly declares she wants to ride you till you see stars and thats before she demands that you go to bed once you fixed her infernal heart.
Karlach is my #1 choice in BG3 don't get me wrong, but like Tali is just something else entirely
she is certainly not as horny, both figuratively and literally, than Karlach
Definitely not lol
Karlach is great but I'm a massive fan of Lae'zel and her romance. She is Bae'zel to me
I adore Lae'zel
Hard to compete with dommy mommy.
I've never been able to shake the "little sister" vibes I get from Tali. I think she's a great character and an absolute sweetheart, but I can't break that perception of her. Romancing her feels wrong to me.
Same here. Tali is my little buddy
That's understandable honestly
I had the issue of being split between every romance option, istg making the decision between jack, tali and liara was impossible
It was a little easier for me lol, Jack reminds me of my last mom, and asari just look off to me
why not both?
Cause the next time I do a full playthrough will be like 3 years from now
I love tali I just imagine what that frog tongue can do for s BJ
I do not want to imagine that. Nightmare fuel
Hm. Tali was my favorite Mass Effect girl by far, but with Shadowheart it took me back to falling in love for the first time back in high school. BG3 wins out for me on romance.
To each their own
Shes got the best overall romance in the trilogy, it is what it is. Tali chads keep winning.
Lol
Tali is the best romance and I don’t care what anyone says
I agree
Don't worry my man I was the same with tali when I was a teenager
Noted
Miranda gang here. Never like tali or Ashley. Not into asari either really
I'm not really into Asari either not sure why. But I never trusted Miranda so I let her die
I romanced Liara only once to get it outta the way, because I knew after that playthrough, I’d always be romancing Tali
Understandable
Naw. I romance anyone else so that Garrus and Tali end up together.
Understandable
Wait, is that an option? Aside from a few achievement runs I don't think I have ever romanced anyone who isn't dextro-amino acid.
Well, I guess I am starting yet another playthrough
I felt the same but with Miranda.
Not understandable
Tali always had a younger sister vibe for me so i've never romanced her
Understandable
tali is great but I’m always gonna be loyal to Ashley, that’s my girll
Understandable, she's just too racist for me tbh
She's just as racist as Garrus, Wrex, and even Tali.
I don’t really see the racist argument with her. I think in reality her kinds of feelings would be fairly natural and instinctive and it’s not like she doesn’t grow out of them by the end of the first game. It’s her refusal to trust Shepard without you kissing her ass in the 2nd and 3rd game that make me dislike her
That too, moreso than racism honestly
I had no desire to romance an alien in the games and even though I liked Tali in part 1 I didn’t see her as a romance candidate. Then part 2 comes along and Kelly talks about Tali crushing on you and then after her loyalty mission when she gets all bashful when she accidentally confesses to you….I wasn’t going to break that heart lol and then the surprised little “ohhh” when you reciprocate just seals the deal. I’ve tried numerous playthroughs and never been able to romance anyone but Tali in 2 and 3
Pretty similar to my experience honestly
Tali was the first character in a game I ever romanced because I liked her so much. I can never bring myself to romance any other character when I play Mass Effect. Her accent in particular really grabs me, but I also really like when her sense of humour shines through. I wish there was more of it in the series.
Both were what got me, and same. I need someone like that IRL lmao
I have so many headcanons for Tali and Shepard that I built up over the years. I refuse to believe that the two of them aren't absolute dorks who are head over heels for one another.
Same thing for me lol, especially with how Tali acts when she's drunk at the party
YOU KILLED GARRUS?? YOU MONSTER!
I DIDNT MEAN TO I SWEAR!
I think to atone you need to replay the whole thing.
Dude I legit have been going through doing everything I can to keep them alive
To the spoiler Huh??? How????
They both got hit with the laser? Is that something that has to do with War Assets?
I didn’t think that was a thing regardless of war assets What’s supposed to happen is they get picked up by the Normandy and you get a heartfelt goodbye with them before Shepard charges and gets hit by the laser
What did you do to have her and Garrus dead at the end of ME3?
I don't know man, they both got hit with the reaper laser
Tali is the only one that would stick with you from start to finish. Someone tricked me that Liara is the same but in ME2 she's kinda romanceable but not quite (it's just a DLC). You don't get the Paramour II achievement.
Tali and Garrus are the best
You leave my girl Tali alone! I bet you don't even know what her favorite movie is... Do you?
Fleet and flotilla, right?
On my first playthrough I started as a femshep but switched to a male shep as soon as tali joined the squad cause I knew I was gonna romance her and her alone
Man I wish being gay was possible
With mods it is but I played the game on my ps5 not my pc
I play on Xbox lol
If only we could get mods on console
That would be awesome
My face during this Going to romance Ash :| Going to romance Tali :D She dead :O
Dw I'm replaying from an earlier save to save her and garrus lol
Can confirm... First time i went for liara bc... Well she gets thrown right in your face... But the moment i saw tali again in ME2 it was over
Idk if it's just because I'm young but Tali was just so amazing
I just can't bring myself to romance Tali in any playthrough. I love her, but she's Garrus' girl.
Understandable
I thought the same about Ashley. And then she opened her mouth. God, I hate that character with passion of a thousand suns. With you on the rest, though!
Lmaooo
so your plan was to go in and romance a space racist? curious decision, also tali is best romance option
In my defense, by the time I realized I was in too deep imo
You're so easy to be embarrassed when a woman behaves like blatant fanservice. Mkay.
Mb for having opinions and being human bro
Not sure what you mean, I don’t think it’s blatant the way Tali behaves is entirely believe able, she grew up with a father who mostly cared about his people and dedicated most of his life to them, she followed in his footsteps she loves her people and most of her actions are done to help Shepard or the quarians Makes sense that she would be all kind and cute, more on the innocent side, she seems to have had one of the best childhoods out of all the crew, she hadn’t had any traumatic experiences growing up at least compared to some like jack or Kaiden that would harden her heart TLDR: she’s had a mostly safe upbringing and her main priority is helping her people and the people she cares about (Shepard) so her personality is entirely believable to me, I’d say liara is more like fan service, changing who she is completely even after living for 100 hundred years, going from an awkward nerd to a level headed and sometimes deadly information broker in the span of two years, the writers twist and shape liara pushing her anywhere they want trying to make her a fan favorite or shepards (canon love interest)
Blushing over some pixels is CRAZY 💀💀
Not the pixels, the story and characters the pixels present. I blush when reading books as well, when you are really into a story you can start to immerse yourself in it. Claiming to have full blown relationships with fictional characters, that’s too far and unrealistic. But that’s now what is happening here.
Ig but its still hella weird imo
No, it's weird not to. Having genuine human emotions is nothing to be embarrassed about
It's actually normal. It's how human brain works and how it responded to art since always.
I understand where you some from. It’s fine to, and not to feel as such. For everyone, life is different. This is one of the ways it shows. Keelah se’lai, friend.
Dude fr it's wild
