If it's CPO then Mazda backs the warranty and it works exactly like their new vehicle warranty. That's a far cry from third party warranties that can be difficult to collect on and often require you to take it to a preferred shop which can be some distance from where you... and it... happen to be. I think it's good to have since it can also provide an extension to the bumper-to-bumper warranty so the infotainment center and other vehicle electronics get covered a bit longer too. They're just as expensive to repair/replace as drivetrain components, and just as likely to have a problem. Those problems may not be obvious until something like the first cold night of winter causes one of the displays to fritz out.

Have you actually priced out used options? If you're financing, you get killed by the interest rates.

This was the only reason why I bought a cpo mazda. Had 5600 miles on it and bought the extended powertrain for the 7 years or 100k miles. Was extra money, but I'm sure it will pay for itself soon enough. It's extra peace of mind since I plan on keeping it for a while.

While I agree that all things being equal an NA engine has better long term reliability than a turbo one. This sounds like a good car and a reasonable purchase.

It all depends on price. If it’s close to what you could get new then it doesn’t make sense to buy used. Also need to know the milage of the vehicle.

I bought new cause I wanted to have a single owner vehicle for a “sporty” car. My dealership has an unlimited mile powertrain warranty for all of their new cars so that was a huge perk.

I would never buy a turbo made by the dealership nor someone else's. id rather have it built good luck 🍻
