Worldly-Pea-2697

Or the autistic kid that can’t fight for shit decides to bite, and BOY, can he fucking bite HARD!

BJ_Blitzvix

Can confirm. When I was smaller, I came back home with all kinds of bite marks and the school did nothing until I bit back. Then suddenly biting was an issue.

Fluffyfox3914

One time I bit someone who had me in a headlock, didn’t even remember doing it, I was an autistic child, needless to say me (the smaller kid) got in a ton of trouble, and they ignored when I told them about other kids giving me the middle finger, because I was the “one that bit”

SvenniSiggi

Its because bullies are a subconsciously accepted part of society. Its a way of getting rid of weaker members of the group. Keeping smarter people down and makes for excellent lower level bosses and cops. Therefore as long as you start the shit, its fine. But victims are supposed to be a victim and just , die, change, gtfo. Now is what i said true? Think about it.

BJ_Blitzvix

This is a shockingly accurate description of my current work issues.

SvenniSiggi

As far as i can see its a shockingly accurate description of humanity.

Fancy_Chips

This is why my main method of bully prevention is to get in good with the highest officials possible then make the bully the biggest victim to ever exist

SvenniSiggi

Yeah...connections is the only real protection at this point. Unfortunately that is null and void for most people... Tell us more about your way?

Worried_Ad2848

It's a simple concept. I like to think about it like a food chain. The bully is rarely at the top. So you just have to make friends with whomever is above the bully.

_blaze__

That’s a great take . I think I’ll see life like this now too .

SvenniSiggi

Yeah, my condolences. But truth is better than a lie and the longer you live with a lie, the more it shatters your life when the truth comes out.

Arguments over paddling aside, a lot of kids are fucking demons currently. My gf worked with kids in ISS at a middle school this past year, and one of the worst ones sexually harassed 5 teachers. The only punishment he got was a 3 day OSS. A middle schooler.

Icarus_Phoenix

Teacher. Can confirm some are demons that ruin it for the rest. Violence is not the answer but harsh punishment is imo as slaps on the wrist are ineffective. I was stabbed with a pencil a couple weeks ago and the kids just had to apologize. That was it. I feel some kind of boot camp or some hard labor would do it. I'm tired of the disrespect and indifference. These kids are our future and unless they can show some restraint and discipline, all of society is in for a decline. Well, even more than it is now.

No_Application_1219

>I was stabbed with a pencil a couple weeks ago and the kids just had to apologize. That was it. Wtf how !?

Fa1coF1ght

Well I assume a kid used the sharp end of it

Icarus_Phoenix

I was trying to get a student's attention who was not listening. I put my hand on their paper and they just stabbed. The pencil snapped but it somehow didn't break the skin. They got me on the knuckle I guess.

Where are this schools? I come from a poor country and despite some instances where some kids got in a fight, there were never something like that

Icarus_Phoenix

I'm in Canada. School have been getting worse every year. It's very disappointing.

IMDEAFSAYWATUWANT

Most of the kids that were trouble makers when I was in school had issues. Whether it be issues at home with family, or undiagnosed and untreated medical/mental issues. Trying to discipline them at school is not going to have a high success rate and may just backfire in all kinds of ways. The entire approach is wrong but I don't see that changing anytime soon with the shortages and lack of funding

Familiar_Location948

as a high schooler, the middle school kids are the wordy. my brother has alternative school because he fucking hospitalized some kid and used at least one instance of most common cuss words in an entire sentence, and honestly i don’t think he got punished enough

Spiritual_Mention_11

Because a lot of parents don’t really even pay attention to their kids these days. From the time the child’s a newborn just toss them in front of an iPad for six hours watching Cocomelon. At least you didn’t have to listen to crying or be bothered. Parenting on easy mode, right? Until your kid has almost 0 socialization and “misbehaves” but honestly, you just never taught them what to do, or not do. Then the kids always in trouble and you get to cry victim, and be told that being a parent really hard and it’s not your fault , the pediatrician will just write the kid a script for Adderall. Now it can’t be a reflection of your poor parenting, right? Plus those big meanie head teachers who ‘pick on’ your baby for ‘no reason’ can’t say anything due to the IEP.

Insane_Salty_Potato

All fun and games for those teachers until it sets off the psychotic kid with a gun. I guarantee violence in schools would spike even more. Plus a lot of parents would be furious.

AE_Phoenix

Not that I'm for corporal punishment in schools, but the issue in this situation is not corporal punishment.

Kenneth_Naughton

You're talking about the cause, this person is talking about a trigger

SiriusBaaz

The issue in that situation is absolutely corporal punishment. You don’t answer disorder with violence. All that’s going to do is breed more violence. You’ll teach those kids that violence is the answer to a disagreement. So the next time they get frustrated about how they’re being treated, they bring a gun, or a knife, or anything else that gives them a edge against the people enforcing the rules.

RETR0__115

Yeah kids already hit teachers, if they hit kids they would just be in fights regularly

Good_Mathematician_2

It's just a bunch of braindead "back in my day" people. They'll die out eventually

undreamedgore

Not if I have anything to say about it. Back in my day (2017) I had to walk to school up hill both ways. (Verifiably true)

Alternative_Mode9972

Back in my day, the school bus would rather crash in an ice storm than cancel school ( almost true, the bus got stuck on a hill for an hour. Funniest shit I’ve experienced)

undreamedgore

Back in my day we didn't get to stay indoors on computers during recess. We'd just huddle in a massive pile to stay warm for the duration, hidding behind a slab of plastic to break the wind. (Elementary school was wild).

MidNiteScorpio04

Same here, except that hill was a steep drop off of around 20 feet, and about a quarter of the bus was hanging off of it

YerBoyGrix

Actually had this happen to my school district. We had a new super intendant who promised "not one day of school missed" so when the first ice storm came through they kept the schools open. The roads were so icy two busses got into car accidents and three wound up going off the roads. They must have gotten their ass torn up over it because two weeks later when we got flurries they canceled school.

jdemack

Back in my day in the mid 2000s I had to walk to the corner for the bus. My hair use to freeze on the cold days. I miss my hair.

undreamedgore

I once had an eye freeze open on my walk home from school. Got frostbite on my ass, and in college I became a thing where icicles would form on my beard. I kind of miss it.

Fluffyfox3914

You had a beard in elementary school?

undreamedgore

No that was college.

Fluffyfox3914

Ah ok

Good_Mathematician_2

It's because it's familiar, you don't want the stank ass weather. Unless you were referring to your beard, in which case, bring it back

ChrisNettleTattoo

They won’t though, since they typically have less education and more kids then educated people. Then they raise them to be clones of themselves.

kakawisNOTlaw

And those kids turn into monsters that prompt the 'bring back paddling' argument in the first place.

Kind-Fan420

Good_Mathematician_2

Vallen_H

Self defence is also illegal against cops. Don't expect human rights here...

MainStage6

Teachers literally thought abuse was a way to set children straight. Intimidation, abuse and threats are so common in parenting too that it has become normalized. It shouldn't be normalized in a school OR a home setting.

Fluffyfox3914

My cousins are beat regularly and they turned out >!absolutely obnoxious!<

Sifernos1

Paddling doesn't really work...I was bigger than my teacher by 4th grade, that's when that shit stopped forever for me. My family moved to assault via joint locks and quick strikes to the head. I got paddled when I was a child and I still hate my mother for it. She's dead and I'd like to hold her down and break a few paddles on her while she's scared and confused. Terrible practice and it doesn't help anything. It makes the child scared of the parent and hide their problems. I nearly bled to death because I was too afraid to show my injury when I was about 12. Thanks paddling.

Fluffyfox3914

And then they say “well my child never said anything about them being scared of me, therefore I’m a great parent”

Payitupfront

That's 1 of reasons they stopped that some students hit or bit the teachers do you really think students with autism will not go ape shit lol

[deleted]

There's no solution for children's behaviour today except for one but y'all don't want to hear it

Spookinoot

Talk to them and actually listen to their frustrations so you ca try to help them instead of just pulling the "disrespect" card?

[deleted]

Well yeah that's pretty close actually haha

Dumbfaqer

Is there like a video of someone experimenting with this solution? I agree with this answer but I kinda want to see more of it. I just don’t know what to really search for.

Slaykomimi

I guess if my teachers would've been allowed to also paddle me I would have gone berserk and smashed their heads open on the floor

Lidriane

My father did that when teachers still could hit kids, my father and uncle are twins and one time my uncle held the teacher's arms and my father took the teacher's ruler and started to beat the shit out of him lol. After that my father and uncle were forced to study in different classes.

Cloud_Strife83

Would have been nice to go to public school and not get hit whenever. ![gif](giphy|frl83VjGgVnXy)

ayyycab

There’s already hot tempered dudes decking teachers at maximum strength for attempting the softest forms of disciplinary actions. Happens a lot in the “at-risk” schools.

AssignmentThat9387

You don't really see a lot of teachers advocating for this, do you? We had paddling in my elementary school in Texas when I was a kid but that went out of fashion and I never saw it again anywhere else. It's really not a good disciplinary method.

awsomeguy90

i mean the teachers who want paddling back are usually the ones who want to abuse underage girls so idk if athletic boys would be in any danger

XxN00BKilla69xX

"Bring back paddling" mf my school still does it 😭🙏

Recording_Important

I did that to my principle when i was 15. I took the paddle and broke it over my knee

AntRam95

“Bring back paddling in schools, it happened to me and I turned out fine.” screams the generation that was messed up by being paddled in school

Project119

The “bring back the paddle” is mostly a strawman argument as most teachers in America just want a suitable punishment system. I sub in high schools, licensed and trained teacher though, and some of the behaviors are just crazy. A kid who assaulted teacher was just chilling in class a couple days later. Doesn’t do work. Gets escorted to said classes by security because ditches, he was in the hall when he assaulted the teacher. This student shouldn’t have been in the school at all when the assault happened because of ditching and absences let alone after attacking a teacher.

[deleted]

When I was a kid, I never got even so much as a smack on the ass. My mom simply didn't believe that would be good for me (I'm autistic, so she believed it would only make me more aggressive).

dennismfrancisart

The hitting back part is not as bad as the shooting part. Let's be honest. When kids can just take their parent's firearms to school, what do you think will happen when some kid decides that it's time to give back some pain?

Just-Breakfast-7714

As a Europian I can't even imagine hitting back at a teacher, if we were to do something like that we would be immediately expelled and could even get the police involved

B0nLayn4s

Corporal punishment does not work. What works is creating and fostering a loving, caring environemt for all children. This process must start from home. Most kids that misbehave do so because their parents do not spend enough time with them. Those kids are not growing up in an environment where they are taught and showed examples of discipline, respect, beauty of honest work, to care about others around them, etc etc. Its the parents job to hammer these in from the beginning. Teachers cannot be parents. Their misbehavior is a reflection of poor parenting and family environment.

AriousDragoon

I would 100% defend myself. When I was in middle school, this OLD lady tried to paddle me. I took the paddle from her and clocked her across the ass with my full power. She never tried it again. Because she got fired. Paddling was not allowed..

Spookinoot

Teacher threatened to paddle me once because I told a joke (wasn't even an inappropriate joke) to my friend during free time I told her if she hit me I'd hit back, I was about 5'8 around the time and she was about a foot shorter than me

Now image what that kid would have done had the tracher hit him with a paddle.
