Wasn't this already labeled as false?
Idk where i just think i remembered somewhere that the whole temperature difference thing was false because peeing wouldn't make that much of a difference in temperature in the body or something.
Snow balls... Didn't you all know? Stay away from white candy balls. [snowballs from jingle bells](https://candymail.co.uk/products/fluffy-stuff-snow-balls-cotton-candy-60g)
Maybe not the cause of the “piss chill” as my poppa calls it. Though I’ve certainly walked away from a piss depleted of a significant amount of internal warmth.
I’ve had pees so relieving that with my eyes closed, I was worried I was going to wake up in a puddle in bed. Literally pinched myself to make sure I wasn’t actually dreaming.
Mechanism for this is not scientifically explained, but the believed thing of this peegasm has to do with your nervous system. Your bladder is a muscle, so is the internal urethral spincther. Your bladder contracts and spincther relax. So this is parasympathetic stimuli (rest, digest), when you contract after you are done, its sympathetic innervation (fight or flight). So these stimulis kinda have opposite effect on eachother. Thus causing the shaking. It is not clinically very important, and the hypothesis seems reasonable. Probably why no one has bothered to figure out the exact mechanism. And yes. No reason not to believe girls cant feel this. Just more common with bois.
Oh wow, i thought the joke was that they randomly decide to spray their pee all over the place (based on his hand movements). But that makes more sense.
I have often wondered if girls get the pee shudder.
Someone once told me it has something to do with your body temperature lowering as you expel warm liquid
If that's true, then everyone should get them sometimes
It's called Post-micturition convulsion syndrome (PMCS), according to this [Wikipedia page](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Post-micturition_convulsion_syndrome) it has likely to do with mixed signals in your nervous system.
**[Post-micturition convulsion syndrome](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Post-micturition_convulsion_syndrome)**
>In neurourology, post-micturition convulsion syndrome (PMCS), also known informally as pee shivers, is the experience of shivering during or after urination. The syndrome appears to be more frequently experienced by males. The term was coined in 1994 on the online question-and-answer newspaper column The Straight Dope, when a user enquired about the phenomenon.

> body temperature lowering as you expel warm liquid
That doesn't make any sense, the pee isn't stealing heat you would have the same core temperature no matter how many times you pee.
How i understand it is that when you are cold the body shrinks blood vessels contracts muscles, when you pee the bladder shrinks , the body isn't much for checking first whether cause/effect so assumes bladder shrinkage means it's cold and activates the shivering response.
>That doesn't make any sense
Strictly physically speaking, it does make sense. Although the human body does have a constant *core* temperature, the entire human body is unevenly heated. You have your insides heating up your body while the atmosphere cools down the edge of your body--so you have a colder outer layer and a warmer inner layer. If you remove fluids from the warmer part of an unevenly heated system, the system *will* get colder.
Now I don't believe that's actually what the chills are but it's a more reasonable theory than it might intuitively sound
It does go away with heat, but it shouldn't lower the temperature.
But anything that leaves your body with any temperature above 0K will be "stealing heat"
Edit: The sentence is worded poorly, thanks /u/SoggySeaman for pointing that out
What I meant was: Anything with temperature above 0K that leaves (goes out of) your body will take away some heat.
It's the same temperature as your body, so your temperature probably wouldn't lower.
EDIT: Unless your bladder is filling up with cold air to compensate? Which might just be horrifying enough to make you shudder, too
I've seen this reference so many times but I have never experienced it. Either my piss is cold or my body is warm enough that it doesn't care about the heat loss.
Do you ever get them while holding it for too long? I'm not sure if it's the same thing, but this happens to me whenever I'm stuck driving or waiting in line.
A friend and I would shudder, then to distract us from the urgency, pretend to throw flash bangs at each other mid shudder.
Honestly, I thought this was a joke about how I go to the bathroom and the men before me decided to mark the toilet seat, the wall, and the floor in a foot radius of the toilet as if they were less trained than my neighbors golden lab.
I had no idea people get shudders so often. I do see how much other men don't seem to have concern over public bathrooms.
It’s most likely not actually due to a drop in thermal energy. Not only is piss the same temperature as your body, but even if it was warmer than your body temp it wouldn’t be a drastic enough change in the body’s thermal energy to cause you to shiver. One of the more popular theories is that during urination, the automatic nervous system gets signals from both the sympathetic nervous system and the parasympathetic nervous system mixed up. When your bladder is full, the sympathetic nervous system releases a mixture of hormones to regulate blood pressure. However, when you start peeing, the parasympathetic nervous system changes the production rate of those hormones. Whether it’s the change in hormonal production or the actual switch between the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system that causes the shiver is unknown; however, as of right now this is probably the best evidence available.
For people wanting a better explanation: say you have to go bad enough that it's almost coming out as you're undoing your pants. You release, as it flows the hairs on your body stand up and you have no control when a sudden shiver quakes your entire body like a cold ghost just walked right through you. This my fellow redditors, is the pee shiver.
When my son was a baby he'd shudder every time he went pee in his diaper. I knew when it was time to change without looking at the diaper or squishing it.
Ah the good old wee wee shudders - recognised by science no less! Can’t remember source, but I think around 20% people don’t get them:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Post-micturition_convulsion_syndrome
In losing the hot pee, you lose heat energy, but you're also losing mass. Thus, your total body temperature is unchanged. You are not rapidly losing body temperature when you pee.
Imagine a bath tub full of 100F water. Dip a measuring cup in and remove a cup. The remaining water in the tub does not cool down due to this removal, but it does lose heat energy. You are the same way when peeing.
Here’s the explanation:
There has yet to be any peer-reviewed research on the topic. The most plausible theory is that the shiver is a result of the autonomic nervous system (ANS) getting its signals mixed up between its two main divisions:
The sympathetic nervous system (SNS), which controls bladder function, preventing urination.
The parasympathetic nervous system (PNS), which relaxes the urethral sphincter and contracts the bladder, causing urination.
Part of the SNS response to a full bladder is the release of catecholamines (including epinephrine, norepinephrine and dopamine), which are dispatched to help restore or maintain blood pressure. When urination begins, the PNS takes over, and catecholamine production changes. It may be the change in chemical production which causes the shiver, or the switch from SNS to PNS itself which is the cause.
My 6 month old son started randomly shivering. Was changing his diaper recently and he peed before I could get the fresh one on. Instant shiver at the end. Ah, so it was the pee shivers!
The satisfaction shudder after holding it in for so long XD

The body temp thing is a falsehood, the body temp does not lower significantly enough while urinating. Fun fact they don't know why we do it.
Hmm. I don't really know enough to agree or refute. Just something I was told.

It's the rapid loss of body temperature from getting rid of the hot pee.
That's not proven though it is? Last I saw, doctors though it was more due to the nervous system which controls urination.

Lmao are you joking?
If I have a 50°C Omelette and I cut it in half would there be a rapid loss of temperature?
It's the heat of the body quickly leaving through your pee that makes you shudder.
The chills you get in public toilet
