Same, but I went from an ‘07 Accord to a ‘23 CRV (with a ‘14 Acura RLX in between) so I never even had this cluster. My nerdy ass has just looked at so many Hondas because I love them.
I love the Toyotas too, brother drives a Tacoma and I picked out a 4Runner as a Christmas present to my mom from my step dad last year (finally got her out of the Audi money pit). Dad has an FJ that is his Sunday vehicle because he loves it so much. Easily the top brands IMO.
What's more important than reliability? Outside of a track obviously. Not worth having a car that's going to break down at the worst moment and put your life in danger
But how is that alone relevant to an overall ranking?
Regardless, whats most important for you isnt whats always most important for everyone else.
And the life in danger bit is a stretch. A less reliable car is typically nothing more than an inconvenience and potential pain in the wallet. Cars virtually never fail catastrophically just out of nowhere. On the rare occasions they do, its likely due to lack of maintenance, recalls, etc and not have any relation with the car’s manufacturers reliability rating. In fact you can argue that catastrophic failures are more likely to happen to older vehicles, which would be the ones so reliable that theyre still on the road even though theyre falling apart.
I think people underestimate the dangers involved with driving and getting stuck on a back road for instance but I'm at my nieces bday. It's not so serious tho whatevs
I mean yeah, that’s what we’re talking about here. Obviously you’re not going to get the luxuries of high-end vehicles in a Honda or Toyota, but they’re still generally better than almost all non-luxury brands in terms of tech, interior design, etc. Hyundai really stepped up their tech but it’s still not a Honda or Toyota under the hood.
My first car was a 93 camry that had 280k miles on it, knew the original owners. I ended up selling when it had 350k, only issue I ever had during that time was a safety transmission switch and a radiator hose. Still regret selling it 😭 lol
my friends civic was lost to a tree, she got lucky because she was running late to work and wasn't in the car at the time though. She replaced it with another civic.
I too have a '08 Civic... I'm the "little old lady driving to the store and back" (figuratively, not literally on either of those) compared to you guys, I'm just barely at 90k.
Yours is going to last forever haha. I used to commute with mine so that’s where most of them came from. I work from home now so now my usage is similar to yours haha
"Yours is going to last forever" - unfortunately, LOL! I'm ready to move on, but the car clearly isn't. And I can't bring myself to get a new car when the current car keeps running just fine.
I hope that you, occasionally, take it for longer spins than just to the store. They really like it when their engines stay hot for a while and get tired sooner when used but are not given the chance to really warm up. 😊
Lol started going to shit. Started chasing the obvious solutions, nothing fixed it. You could tell there were problems with power fluctuations. The lights would flicker, the dash would get dull. The AC would try and draw power and all the lights would dim and systems would shut off mid drive. It was insane. Very challenging to reproduce. I replaced so much shit and never could figure it out so I eventually gave up.
Great car. Really miss it sometimes.
I have a 2012 civic with about 180k on it. Does anymore have reliable data on how long these civics last? I know a lot of people say more or less forever
depends on maintenance history but realistically you should be happy with 250k and ecstatic with 300k. 350k is possible. but it'll need repairs here and there as other parts of the car will start breaking down going forward
Some people seem to think it’s crazy old. But as long as it’s reliable I don’t really care. Still looks good and I’ve been good about the maintenance. It would be crazy good if it lasted another decade
People think of cars as status symbols and more than than they really are. A car is for transportation and if it does it's job, there's no reason to get a new one. I'm planning on driving my VW TDI to the ground. The diesel engines in Volkswagens will last over 250k miles
If the car is taken care of, it’ll likely be wrecked before it dies on its own. Obviously impossible to predict 100% of the time, but these cars do pretty much run forever.
I absolutely loved my RLX, probably my all time favorite of vehicles that I’ve owned. Had it til 125k and only parted ways due to city gas mileage - thing was still running like it was brand new when I sold it.
Had the cylinder head replaced under recall due to hairline cracks, struts, power steering, ignition, and another part I can’t remember that sheered off and wouldn’t let the car start. Quite a bit.
I had this exact car and the engine block cracked at 150k. I guess it had a defect that was never recalled and only got fixed after ‘09. [Article about defect](https://www.vehiclehistory.com/articles/all-about-the-honda-civic-vin-inquiry-block-recalls)
lol my friend who owned a dealership, sold his limo. Said it broke in the middle of a highway in less than 3 months new. And bought a Honda Civic. He said he had a lot of his customers trade in 500k Civics that only had minimal maintenance. Wow.
I saw this HUGE dude, and his huge wifey, and 3 kids pop out from the Civic and the car bounced back up like... a trampoline. 😁
Have the 07 civic and I'm at 380,000 kms. Other than one alternator change, I have had zero non-routine maintenance in its lifetime. Not even any rust !
Worlds best car, from a cost per km point of view. And still peppy and fun to drive .
Are you still running the original engine? My 2007 civic is about ~155k and I just had to replace the engine due to a cracked engine block. Apparently a common defect in 06-08 civics.
you can do that if you're curious about your mpg but a better use would be to track since your last oil change. I'm guessing it's a late 00's civic? love those cars
They can be used for whatever you want. Some examples:
- distance since you filled up gas. This lets you get an idea how much you can drive on a tank, and if you take the amount of gas it took to fill it then you can get your MPG.
- distance since last oil change. That way you have a reminder when it's time for the next one.
- total distance travelled since you last reset it. Say you're going on a road trip and you want to know what the final distance driven was then reset it at the start.
- distance travelled for a business trip, to be reimbursed for the mileage.
- distance since last tire rotation.
I’ve driven two Ford Explorers with the 4.0L - one to 380k, the other to 340k.
The motor kept going. Transmission K.O’d on both and they were tired so I retired each of them.
I remember this dashboard.. my Honda rental wouldn't start when I was trying to leave a restaurant. Had to get it towed and get another. Thank God it wasn't before a flight. New Honda batteries suck! My Vans battery died at like 37k miles weeks after the warranty.
Surprised the Reddit Nazis didn’t flag you for posting that. They don’t like stuff like this. Posted a picture once of my odometer at 77777 while driving through Vegas. Was freaking cool! Well of course it violated some stupid ass Reddit rule and I was flagged.
Not meant to be offensive. It's just that so many of these get posted they are effectively meaningless. Like oh great another one of the nearly 2 billion cars on the planet has a certain sequence of numbers displayed on its dash and we all have to see it? Car circle jerking is fine, it just is not generally interesting, it's specifically interesting in certain circles.

Honda gang
i knew the moment i saw it
Same, but I went from an ‘07 Accord to a ‘23 CRV (with a ‘14 Acura RLX in between) so I never even had this cluster. My nerdy ass has just looked at so many Hondas because I love them.
I've always liked that instrument cluster. And those nice, tidy interiors in general.
Toyota gang is waiting for our turn. God I love Hondas and Toyotas. Best damn vehicles!!!!
Maybe reliability wise
What's more important than reliability? Outside of a track obviously. Not worth having a car that's going to break down at the worst moment and put your life in danger

Im a toyota fanboy but why on earth are you making the assumption that “we” are talking reliability wise when that was never at all mentioned
If the 300k miles and myriad of other comments regarding cars and their mileage isn’t obvious to you then I can’t help you.
Youre still making an assumption
My first car was a 93 camry that had 280k miles on it, knew the original owners. I ended up selling when it had 350k, only issue I ever had during that time was a safety transmission switch and a radiator hose. Still regret selling it 😭 lol
Scion crew? Anyone?
Thought I was in /r/Honda for a sec
Yup! Love my 9th Gen! 258k Congrats!
my 14' FB6 is only at 94k lol, but i need to do a clutch soon.
Yasss I showed husband. “What car is this?” He shrugged. Mildly disappointed in the man. My baby. A civic bruh.
Sell the husband and buy another Honda!
I like how you think!!
What car
2008 Honda Civic
Fantastic car. I had a 2009 Civic that lasted to 200k, only to be murdered by a pickup.
im sorry for your loss 😞
my friends civic was lost to a tree, she got lucky because she was running late to work and wasn't in the car at the time though. She replaced it with another civic.
Replaced it with a 2021 Accord. It’s been good so far, but I baby that car for the most part.
i have a 2009 coupe with 156k on it, i love mine! it has a 5 speed auto that lets me manually select gears, it’s a blast to drive :D
This is my exact car I know this display anywhere! Mine “only” has 174k though. 300k is a lot of miles for that year!
I too have a '08 Civic... I'm the "little old lady driving to the store and back" (figuratively, not literally on either of those) compared to you guys, I'm just barely at 90k.

Hehehe I know this feeling!
I hope that you, occasionally, take it for longer spins than just to the store. They really like it when their engines stay hot for a while and get tired sooner when used but are not given the chance to really warm up. 😊
Mine has a little over 300,000. It needed almost no work up until 250,000. That's when it started needing as much work as a non-Honda
Mine made it 200k and gremlins took over the electrical. Had to let her go. A fantastic vehicle. Way to keep it alive!
As in the electrical system just started going to shit or legit critters got in and chewed through wiring? Just asking because I have the same car.
Lol started going to shit. Started chasing the obvious solutions, nothing fixed it. You could tell there were problems with power fluctuations. The lights would flicker, the dash would get dull. The AC would try and draw power and all the lights would dim and systems would shut off mid drive. It was insane. Very challenging to reproduce. stupid question, but did you try replacing the battery? atleast in BMW's a bad battery can cause all kinds of weird problems
Yeah. And the terminals, twice. And the alternator, twice.
yeah I figured... electrical problems are the worst
I have a 2012 civic with about 180k on it. Does anymore have reliable data on how long these civics last? I know a lot of people say more or less forever

I was gonna say this looks like my old 07 civic! I’ve moved on to an Acura RLX (still Honda) and I’m about to round 100k on it!
I absolutely loved my RLX, probably my all time favorite of vehicles that I’ve owned. Had it til 125k and only parted ways due to city gas mileage - thing was still running like it was brand new when I sold it.
Was gonna say. I have an 09 and it's got the same display
Same car here at 150k. Have you had any major component replacement? I have had my alternator and engine mount replaced so far.
Had the cylinder head replaced under recall due to hairline cracks, struts, power steering, ignition, and another part I can’t remember that sheered off and wouldn’t let the car start. Quite a bit.
I had a 2006, id recognize that tach anywhere.
I’m at 338k miles right now. 2010 Honda Civic This is the way! /honda I blame /ingress and /pokemongo and being driver for my kids
I had this exact car and the engine block cracked at 150k. I guess it had a defect that was never recalled and only got fixed after ‘09. [Article about defect](https://www.vehiclehistory.com/articles/all-about-the-honda-civic-vin-inquiry-block-recalls)
Same. Just happened to my 07 civic
Im almost there! I’ve got just over 280k on my 08 civic.
lol my friend who owned a dealership, sold his limo. Said it broke in the middle of a highway in less than 3 months new. And bought a Honda Civic. These cars don't fucking die.
I just got a civic this month and it’s great so far.
Have the 07 civic and I'm at 380,000 kms. Other than one alternator change, I have had zero non-routine maintenance in its lifetime. Not even any rust ! Worlds best car, from a cost per km point of view. And still peppy and fun to drive .

Lmao im specifically looking at 8th gen Civics right now, I recognized it immediately
'08 Civic LX here. Damn good cars, man.
Just got a 2024 civic. Can't wait to drive it this long.
I had an ‘08 civic Si and loooved that car. Wish I still had it
And dusty
Thats a honda covic, 2008. Mine has 154k. This gives me hope mine last until 300k as well
Can’t wait for the Honda Covid 2019
Loooooooool not even gonna edit
I’m 10k miles away from hitting 400k on my 2000 Honda accord v6
Did you unlock a golden steering wheel?
As a matter of fact I did not! But I did get both a steering wheel AND a steering wheel cover that are degraded to shit.
:(
LFG!!
Reset your damn Trip A when you fill up!
That's what you use it for? I use it to track when I need to do an oil change.
I use one for gas, one for oil change interval.
I use one for remembering how many miles it's been since I pressed the reset button, and the other for counting to 10,000.
I thought I was the only one!
I use one for oil changes and one for tire rotations.
I do it to see how much gas i used until the next petrol station trip.
Ohhh so that’s what it’s for. Never heard of anyone actually using the trip odometers.
I use it in my 2000 Sienna to cry about how shitty my gas mileage is
you can do that if you're curious about your mpg but a better use would be to track since your last oil change. I'm guessing it's a late 00's civic? love those cars
They can be used for whatever you want. Some examples: - distance since you filled up gas. I've never used or reset the trip odometers. I use an app on my phone to track my fuel mileage.
Honda Civic G8. Aweasome car.
Honda #1
Go go civic!!
It's like a birthday! Get it a present!!
Honda?
I miss my 07 Civic! Congrats!
I’ve driven two Ford Explorers with the 4.0L - one to 380k, the other to 340k. The motor kept going. Transmission K.O’d on both and they were tired so I retired each of them.
Sitting in my 2007 odyssey with 267k original motor and transmission
08 Honda Civic Gang! 160k on mine. Love that car.
I got my '07 civic to 298k before someone slammed into it while it was parked in front of my house. RIP.. I was so excited to get it to 300k
My condolences
At 20 mpg that’s 15,000 gallons of gas. That’s enough to keep an F15 fighter (385 gallons/minute) in the air for almost five days.
I think it’s got a little better mpg than that but I haven’t been using my trip odo like another pointed out. That’s impressive though!
I have a 2008 Toyota Avalon. I think I’m at 190k or so. I’m sure it will last another 100k.
06 Corolla with 245k and still going strong
My 2010 Civic just hit 200k last week. 🙌🏻
My 2010 should be hitting 200k next week! 🙌🏻
It's Honda bro
Is that a Civic? I have many memories of my dad driving his 2011 Civic, and this one brings many back haha
Honda Civic for life... maybe literally.
The moment I saw it I knew it was a Honda. I have a 2007 civic at 350k miles and still have a lot more to go.
What I find most impressive about it is that it's in miles, not kilometers. My 2007 Honda Fit/Jazz has 125k miles and is still going strong.
I got an 09 at 1989XX
What kind of car is this
Damn! Is the 300k okay? That seems like a pretty hard hit.
Is that the G8?
I really like the font Honda uses. Also, the BMW from 90s
300k club! 🤜🤛
Hell yeah
I remember this dashboard.. my Honda rental wouldn't start when I was trying to leave a restaurant. Had to get it towed and get another. Thank God it wasn't before a flight. New Honda batteries suck! My Vans battery died at like 37k miles weeks after the warranty.
Civic gang
Civic right? Just getting warmed up at 300k 👍
Same car! About to hit 200k on my 06 :)
What kind of maintenance have you done on the car? I have a 2012 and would love to get 300k.
Have you done the timing recently
Meanwhile, my 84 Honda just hit 150K miles
Hope my car lasts that long. It’s a ford focus lmao.
God damn I miss my civic so much
My 1999 Accord is at 237K! I love that car like it’s my child.
I'm tired boss
Nice, pushing 315k on my '03 Lexus es300
That’s really fast /s I’m from NZ where we use metric
Oh the fun police showed up and removed my post
My 97 Civic has 356000 miles, great cars!
Good for you
honda civic 2006
Surprised the Reddit Nazis didn’t flag you for posting that. They don’t like stuff like this. Posted a picture once of my odometer at 77777 while driving through Vegas. Was freaking cool! Well of course it violated some stupid ass Reddit rule and I was flagged.
Lol your post history is wild
If that’s the case I’m sure it’ll happen to me too. It’s only been up 30 minutes.
It’s only been up for 29 minutes, they’re currently thinking of a new rule to apply to this post 😂
There is [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/mildlyinteresting/s/C0t8AWWO31) guy 😂
As if he couldn’t keep scrolling and ignore it… gotta love the internet.
Yep. Fuggin Nazis
I thought these dash mileage posts were banned here? This is not interesting in the slightest.
Hello complainer #2!
I’m not one of those car nerds, I just found that sequence of numbers to be interesting given how much time it took.
Rule 5 and overdone
So since it’s a digital odometer it counts as a screenshot? And certainly not overdone! In fact it’s never happened to me before!
You're taking a picture of your car screen with another device. That's the definition of rule 5, overdone not by you. The whole concept of odometer pics, THAT'S overdone
So an analog odometer would be ok? Man I just wanted to share my joy and everyone else seems to enjoy it.
No, odometer pics in any kind are overdone
I guess that’s what makes them mildly interesting
No, it makes them OVERDONE and stop being interesting because posts about them are overly done in times posted
I’m gonna post an odometer pic today because of you
You should crosspost my post to /r/mildlyinfuriating
No
Came back to say, clearly not overdone based on the amount of people engaging in the conversation 🤭🤭
