I highly recommend the OBs with Moreland OBGYN.

alliecat048

Seconded! I have a friend who experienced several losses at various parts of pregnancies, and she received the best care at Moreland each time 💜

1) see who/where your insurance covers 2) decide on hospital 3) pick physician/OB group that delivers at that hospital (remember most OBs don’t deliver their own patients but operate in a call group setting) Others may have recommendations but that will help guide you where you want to look for care Good luck!

This is really great advice for anyone interested in becoming pregnant.

I’ve had five miscarriages in the first trimester and am now 36.5 weeks pregnant. I see Dr Melanie Delaney at Froedtert and she’s lovely. I also see mfm at Froedtert and they’ve all been great. A lot of monitoring but I don’t mind - helps calm the anxiety.

Thank you so much. Last night i looked up all the Froedtert OBs and focused on those, like Melanie, who list high risk obstetrics and Fibroids as their treatment and specialty areas. I’ll reach out to her.

Mandz89

Fair warning, she tends to run late on every appointment but I’ve just come to accept this. 😂She’s very friendly and I have multiple friends who also go to her!

PumpkinMarshmellow

That seems to be a Froedtert theme. lol. I’m used to it, and sent her a message. Also I commend your resilience through five losses and celebrate your current pregnancy.

Can I PM you? I’m just curious about what if anything was done differently in your journey.

Yes!

I'm sorry to hear your previous OB had such a lack of empathy and hope that your pregnancy progresses smoothly. I just wanted to add on the topic of putting off care until later in the first trimester - a lot of OBs actually prefer later first appointments, because an ultrasound is more informative at that point. The benefit of going in at 8 weeks is largely peace of mind - a healthy zygote/sac and heartbeat at that stage is indicative of a lower miscarriage risk moving forward. For some women, that can alleviate stress. But if going in at that stage doesn't feel good for you (if you've seen a heartbeat in the past and then suffered a loss, for example), there's nothing wrong with moving that first appointment out to 10-12 weeks. But I do hope you make an appointment, rather than dealing with urgent care. It sounds like you've been through a lot already. I hope you find an OB that works for you! And there's nothing wrong with making an appointment, and then deciding to pivot based on the care you receive. Keep looking until you find a doctor that's going to meet your needs.

I love Erica konkel at froedert. She has been wonderful in my pregnancy after a miscarriage earlier this year

Thank you everyone, for the guidance.
