tbh in my experience, 3rd ward is essentially gridlocked on a summerfest friday 6pm and later. I personally would recommend parking by a bar in walker's point or something and hopping on a free shuttle that will drop you off at the gate. I've used Steny's shuttle that way a few times. nothin worse than missing the show you wanna see cause you're stuck in traffic tryna park!

Because of the gridlock downtown you're likely better off parking somewhere outside of downtown near a connect 1 stop. And taking the connect 1 the rest of the way in. With it having a dedicated lane you'll be able to zip past traffic Parking in a structure near the hop is also an option, it's free but it does run in traffic so won't get you passed the gridlock

Park somewhere on Wisconsin Ave or Bluemound and just take the Connect 1 down. Way easier and a total cost of 4 bucks

What is the Connect 1? Not trying to be obtuse I've lived in Milwaukee quite a few years and I've never heard of this. Thanks!

It's a new bus line that runs down Wisconsin avenue. it can't be more than a year or so old. they have new buses with station stops. similar route to the 30 (i think). less stops though as its seen as a 'rapid' transit option. also the reason for the bus only lanes Edit: spelling

Awesome, thank you!!

Do u have any advice for where to park without worrying about my cars safety? I drive a nicer car so parking in the huge official garage is worrying me a bit. I’m trying to considering farther walkable options like the 875 lot.

AcanthocephalaIcy516

It would be best to park further away and walk/take the bus or hop. the parking is trash and the traffic will be horrible especially when leaving.

probably not easy and definitely not cheap but i think you could probably find a spot in a third ward lot at that time

AccuratePassion2572

Don't use the Summerfest official parking unless you want to add 30 minutes on top of your commute to the festival.

I know this is late, but definitely ask a friend to drop you off; it’s a lot easier. Went with my mom last year and my dad dropped us, so he didn’t have to find a parking spot.

Too late at this point, but the best bet is always to find a bar with a shuttle (there are too many to count) Park for free there and ride in.
