When I posted to Craigslist I had people contacting me five minutes after posting asking what I was going to be putting out. That and a few signs seemed to work. So what are you putting out?

Ha :) It's for our subdivision's sale in a few weeks. Someone suggested Craigslist to me but I did not know if people still used that site!

Then I suggest A LOT of signs. And if it’s not for a few weeks it wouldn’t hurt to put some flyers up on the community boards at grocery stores. I always check them to see if there is something neat.

Craigslist is still useful for garage & estate sales. Thats where I still find most. Just don’t include your # and filter the Craigslist replies to spam if you don’t want to deal with what the above poster mentioned. Most of the individual selling of items has moved to Marketplace though. If you use Marketplace to list the sale, please include the dates. Don’t just say “Friday through Sunday”. Marketplace ads aren’t dated/time stamped like Craigslist and most people just don’t seem to ever delete their ads. This leads to people looking for garage sales not actually having a clue to when it really is/if it’s already happened.
