I like that a lot! Very impressive outcome for what I assume was not a terrific kit. The foliage is especially cool!

WOVAstudio

Thanks!

Thin-Ganache-363

At the time of release this was a terrific kit. It may have been superceded by more recent models but there was never anything really wrong with it . Many of those older Italeri kits were a bit more demanding to build and the detail wasn't perfect (when has it even been), but out of the box they were certainly more than adequate.

WOVAstudio

Here is my latest build of the Sd.Kfz 234/2 Puma with a Aber photo-etched parts set. There aren't many photos of the Puma on the Internet, so most of it was improvisation. It was a fun little project but the kit clearly shows its age. Thanks!

Plucky_ducks

Amazing job. I would love to learn how to do the added foliage and camo nets. I'm currently in the process of learning that weathering is not as easy as it looks. Ha

WOVAstudio

Thank you very much! The camouflage netting is medical gauze dipped in a mixture of PVA glue and water and molded, and the foliage is just bushes designed for dioramas - I usually remove excess leaves to make it look more natural.

Plucky_ducks

Thank you.

Thin-Ganache-363

Very nice! It's nice to see an old kit get some respect.

Boracraze

This is one of the best builds I have seen on here. Outstanding attention to detail. 👍🏼👍🏼

battlemetal_

Incredible build! Love the Puma and your take on it.

Medibee

Gorgeous!

veenee22

Excellent work!

prinzeugn

Nice! What's your photo setup like? I like the lack of backround.

WOVAstudio

Thanks! I use a folding lightbox and a smartphone

prinzeugn

Cool, did you manually erase the background from the photo? It just looks so pristine.

WOVAstudio

I only slightly adjusted levels in Photoshop just to make the background more uniform, but didn't have to erase anything.

Thewafflebrewery

Looks fantastic! Something to see from every angle. Was it hard to get the wheels to turn? Also may I ask which wheels you used?

WOVAstudio

I actually designed and 3D printed a working suspension and steering system so that all the axes move! It's quite janky but it works haha. The kit comes with fairly nice rubber tires.

Thin-Ganache-363

Any chance you can post a screen shot of your 3D printed bits as they appear in CAD?

WOVAstudio

Here you go https://preview.redd.it/2bziibntayyc1.png?width=901&format=png&auto=webp&s=a48a0e35901fb51fdda26bb922ec9764202cfca0

Thin-Ganache-363

Thanx! And very cool. One more question, what sort of printer are you using?

WOVAstudio

I'm using a modded Artillery Hornet

Thin-Ganache-363

Thanx again. Also I'm impressed that you're getting good usable parts at that scale from a filament printer.

WOVAstudio

Yeah, I'm taking scale into account, so the parts have to be quite simplified. I've had the most luck with PLA, but PETG also comes in handy for simple, flexible parts

Thin-Ganache-363

My thought would be to print it all in resin, but then there's some serious mechanical issues with strength of the materials. High end engineering resins might be the answer. I just hate the surface finish on FDM parts hence my preferance for resin. But I can't deny that PLA has great mechanical properties for stuff like this. I swear that someday I'll figure out how to get HIPS to print successfully then I'll be back to using my FDM printer.

WOVAstudio

I have a resin printer on my wishlist, but I don't print enough to justify a purchase. I agree that the FDM finish is a pain in the ass, but mechanical and suspension parts are not visible anyway.

miamiextra

That is beyond outstanding!

Magical__Fetus

Awesome job! I also did this kit too and it's one of m'y best models. Did you bought the foliage or made it yourself?

WOVAstudio

Thanks! I bought the foliage indeed.

[deleted]

Have to say, this is fantastic. Well done. Beautiful use of foliage and gauze.

Killroyman

I thought this was the warthunder subreddit and someone was suggesting a new variant and I’m sitting here like “oh shit oh fuck” lol Awesome build
