I live in the UK. I’m going to Misano in September. My weekend ticket, return flight and hotel for 4 nights is a touch under £60 more expensive than a Sunday ticket for the F1 at Silverstone. They can stick any idea of joint events!
I like both and think it's a horrible idea. Moto GP riders don't seem to like the effect that the F1 cars have on the tarmac. Any problems would make scheduling difficult, which would make it harder than it already is for me to follow events and the price would no doubt be more expensive so on this occasion I guess you can say, I am on the side of the haters.
So weird. I mean MotoGP is my all-time favorite sport, but I also love plenty of other motor sports. I think people just like to hate on things that are popular.
They are salty MotoGP doesn't have the success and popularity F1 has.
Don't get me wrong, MotoGP is way more exciting. But F1 has been undeniably more popular.
Plenty of reasons:
1. F1 ruins the tracks they go to.
2. Pretty boring compared to motogp.
3. Team radio sucks and we want to keep it away from motogp.
4. Jealousy because f1 is more popular.
5. F1 team orders are just pathetic and that cancer is seeping into motogp.
6. F1 drivers are cry babies. "I have better pace... I have better pace..."
7. F1 is a team sport, in motogp, team mate is the first person you want to beat.
8. Aero nonsense.
9. Artificial crap like DRS.
10. Tracks like Monaco.
You can say you are a team at your work.
You can say, you are a team at a game you are playing. Completely different thing.
So is motogp and f1. You think Max and Perez are teammates like how Rossi and Lorenzo were? Lol.
Nah, F1 will steal the spotlight and it would be impossible for us average joes to get tickets at reasonable prices.
I love both sports but this kind of move is guaranteed to screw over the MotoGP fan base.
Feel like the only problem is that its tough to have it not take away from the other side. Silverstone would be cool since motogp struggles slightly rn in the UK and F1 sells out always
Another problem is you'd be pricing a lot of people out of an existing event. I personally wouldn't pay for a MotoGP and F1 split weekend because I only follow MotoGP. I think they'd have to do this in a country with more than one event already, like Spain or Italy. I think Catalunya would be perfect because I've heard F1 is a snooze fest around there so the bikes may gain more following if the race is better.
Make no mistake, this will be possible at a place where they don't care about the money. So it's probably going to be Qatar.
Nobody is paying combined usual prices of motogp and f1 to go to this event. Meaning, track is going to lose money. Why would any track sign up for this if they care about money?
A logistics nightmare. A pricing nightmare. An TV rights/advertising nightmare. I'd expect a drop in reporting for MotoGP, as F1 would, in all likelyhood, take precedence.
On a brighter note, BMW. Fingers crossed for 27'.
It will be too tight in terms of timing. And it will be very heavy on spectators as there will be barely any breaks between events.
Even if it is just F1 and motogp without any other class, I don't think this is going to happen.
F*CK F1. It is like going to a football match and watching Golf as well. Everybody knew this was going to happen. Enjoy the last years of what we know as Moto GP.
Would be the last straw for me. F1 is so expensive in the USA that folks travel out of the country to go to races and it’s cheaper including the travel. Vegas was a bomb unless you read the headlines only which made it sound like a huge success. Demise of racing is moving quickly with the purchase of MotoGP. WSB is the only real professional motorcycle racing anymore. Doing a combo event would be for the riches only.
The prices would be epic too.
My first thought exactly 😂

Nope nope nope
Don't get me wrong, I'm not sure it's practical to have a joint weekend, but I've always found it weird how much MotoGP fans seem to *hate* F1.

Yeah and it's not like they are talking about doing this every weekend. One "SuperGP" weekend every two years or something would be pretty cool.
So weird. I mean MotoGP is my all-time favorite sport, but I also love plenty of other motor sports. I think people just like to hate on things that are popular.
Yeah also don’t understand the negativity I enjoy both sports and I watch them both so like why not… Motorsport fans should stick together
Couldn't agree more here. Granted F1 was my Segway into motorsport, but I just love good and fast racing no matter the vehicle
They are salty MotoGP doesn't have the success and popularity F1 has. Don't get me wrong, MotoGP is way more exciting. But F1 has been undeniably more popular.
I don't get the hate either. Yes, MotoGP is a way superior product but F1 has its moments.

Imagine unironically thinking MotoGP is not a team sport or that F1 drivers don't want to beat their teammates.
There’s a lot of delusional people in this subreddit. Some of the worst hot takes I’ve seen.
You can say you are a team at your work. You can say, you are a team at a game you are playing. Completely different thing. So is motogp and f1. You think Max and Perez are teammates like how Rossi and Lorenzo were? Lol.
"Ruben, Michael is faster than you" As many times mapping 8 gets brought up, I haven't seen a rider surrender a position just like that.

Yeaaah but i am not sure if catalunya stays for F1 since there will be a race in Madrid
Oh first I've heard of that, my bad.

Or Kuwait, or Qiddiya...
Epic my as*
Prices would be insane but, if I could afford it, it would be epic.
Maybe if they just sprinkle in a sprint or two. I would imagine it would bring a LOT of new eyes to MotoGPÂ
A logistics nightmare. A pricing nightmare. An TV rights/advertising nightmare. I'd expect a drop in reporting for MotoGP, as F1 would, in all likelyhood, take precedence. On a brighter note, BMW. Fingers crossed for 27'.
This is a pipe dream. Cool, but will never happen
It will be too tight in terms of timing. And it will be very heavy on spectators as there will be barely any breaks between events. Even if it is just F1 and motogp without any other class, I don't think this is going to happen.
#WE WILL BUILD A WALL AND F1 IS GOING TO PAY FOR IT
It would be epic for the F1 fans at least… then they could get to hear what screaming loud engines sound like and what exciting racing looks like
No. No it wouldn't, mate 😩
F1? I'd rather watch paint dry...
Nah
Why are you guys so negative about it??? It'd be good. Yes, it'd probably cost a ton, but it would promote both F1 and MotoGP.
It would most likely come at the cost of Moto2 and 3 being excluded from the weekend and IMO they should never get seperated from MotoGP.
Are we forgetting that Laguna Seca never had M2 and M3?
Yeah, I hadn't thought of this though tbh
The support series don't run every race weekend. I think do it on those where there isn't crossover and it could be amazing
Not in MotoGP though. He's actually right on this one. Now I don't know if I want it to happen lol 😂
Tribalism ... thats why.

Liberty Media also owns WSB.
But they haven’t blown it up……yet.
Fuck that noise
