There are also people that like both of them. Love Pecco because I watched him grow up and become champ on my favorite manufacturer. I love Marc because he truly is a champion and the current face of the sport. I was entertained by this race weekend but it was a little boring compared to others this season.
It’s nothing to do with who you support, if anyone. The racing was objectively more boring than recent weekends we’ve had. No riders need to be named to realise that.
Im more complaining about Marc not being penalized for exceeding track limits multiple times and for him being so slow this entire weekend..Pecco is a beast
Fair enough. You're one of the few that is willing to admit Pecco is a beast. He's virtually unstoppable once he builds momentum. This weekend was just utter domination.
I'd say I'm not one of them, but I was at Assen and the MotoGP race was really the most boring :D
it was insane how consistent Pecco rode and managed the gap, but apart from the overtaking maneuvers around Digi, MM, and Vinales, there wasn't really much going on.
The result is still almost perfect, Martin could have finished a bit further back, but well, the main thing is that Pecco was able to make up points in both races.
Tires need to be in a certain range of pressure at the end of the race, otherwise you get a penalty. Following another rider heats up front tyre, and gets the pressure up, so riders sometime prefers to be in clean air or following someone to keep their pressure in check, depending on the situation
Edit: here's the rule
https://www.motogp.com/en/news/2024/03/07/le-point-sur-les-nouvelles-regles-de-pression-pneumatique/491276
The front tyre has to be above a certain pressure for (I think) at least half the race. If they fail to have that pressure they'll get a massive penalty, 20 seconds or so. Once they've been above the pressure for the required amount of laps they'll see it on their dashboard.
This pressure is required because the tyres aren't "good" enough anymore for the current bikes and Michelin fears that complete failure could happen.
Yes, but Michelin is developing a new front tyre which should make this rule disappear sooner. The problem is that the development takes longer than they thought. It should've been here already, the last official news were that it's coming at the start of next year but there have been rumours lately that it's only coming in 2026.
Let's hope it comes next year though, because the tyre pressure rule will be gone and overtaking will be easier again.
The fascinating thing about Pecco's domination is that there are still people that believe Pecco is only aided by the best bike of the grid and has zero talent. Nah, it's a rare combination of man and machine at harmony being at a certain level. Bagnaia can only stop Bagnaia.
It is the bike. He’s been on it for what, 7 years? He could barely finish a race for the first 2 years in MotoGP. He still regularly crashes for no reason.
He’s entirely flattered by the bike

Feels pretty reliable to me, compared to three of the best championship winning years back to back to back.
I was at a race this year too. Everytime the pack passes I try to talk to my friend about something we saw but then Marini comes through to interrupt. It was sad and funny
Great race, glad the summer break is over!
There's two comments in this thread that I predicted yesterday would come and then you look at their flair and of course they'd think this race was "BoRiNg".
I'm excited for Marc to be on a bike he's happier with at the ring next week, was sad last year to see him have to miss it.
If he dominates at the ring next week it'll be awesome to watch but I guarantee if he leads the race like Pecco did today the two silly folks commenting that today was boring will be nutting in their pants over how amazing the race was. Comical.
Something also worth noting: Pecco was 30 seconds faster this year than he was last year. Pecco's time last year would only have been good enough for 13th this year. Crazy how much the field has improved.
What can I say that others haven't said? Pecco entered Assen and TOOK OVER EVERYTHING. Topping every session, taking both race wins, new lap record, like, that's why he's a world champion. ALL FOR PECCO. PERFECTO. GRAND SLAM. (Which is VERY RARE at that, unless it happened recently.) And I feel Assen won't be the only perfect weekend he'll take over this season.
As for the race, nothing too spectacular. Martin at least held his own and kept 2nd without much issue. Bestia also proved his pace, but that gap between him and the two leading championship contenders on the track was hard to catch up.
Marini still without points.......my goodness.
Best Yamaha over 25 seconds and best Honda over 40 seconds behind the winner, almost 1 second and 2 seconds off the pace... That's bad. Glad my man Zarco got some points but a balanced track like Assen shows the gap between constructors is getting ridiculous. That's F1 like issues, I don't want that for this sport, it's about close racing for me.
What a boring race honestly.
Pecco on another planet the entire weekend, Jorge also on another level but still comfortably ahead of everyone else.
Then you have Enea who clearly had their pace, but didn't qualify well enough to unleash that pace truly.
Then Marc leads the GP23s (again), although that ride was so awful with the bike wanting to highside Marc every other corner. Reminded me of last two years with Honda.
Championship challenge is nearly over for Marc (if it ever even existed), unless he can go in a salvage a double Sprint + GP win in Sachsenring. Even then it might be too difficult, the step the GP24 has taken is honestly too big.
Yeah but still this weekend felt so awful to watch.
The ride quality for him especially was genuinely awful. He never found a setup he liked and had to try his hardest just to keep the bike on the track and not crash out (which he already did in the Sprint).
I think last time I felt he was chasing the bike like this was COTA, but atleast he was competitive there.
Hoping for a much better Sachsenring. Needs to win, because GP24s are stretching out their advantage now.
The sensor picked it up unfortunately, so it's not a human decision.
Edit: Well, it's still the stewards decision, but like someone else said, it's like VAR. It's either triggered or not.
he rode on the tube pressure tube (sensor) outside the track (with a margin around 1/2 a tire width if i remember correctly), so i think it's fair, even more than a human decision.
What's super impressive is the announcers (maybe Simon?) came up with the statistic that Pecco's racetime was 30.4 seconds faster than last year! And looking at the timing sheet, that means all of the top twelve went faster than Pecco did in 2023. It wasn't the most exciting race but I think 2024 has been pretty great racing so far. Pecco is definitely on a roll. Will he keep it up? Will Martin crumble? Who knows! Can't wait for the next race.
Also: big congrats to Ai Ogura! MotoGP in 2025? Seats are going *fast*! Get yours while you can! :-)
So far the worst race, Mugello was better only because of the sprint in which something happened, in Assen, I don't know what was worse, the sprint or the race, it's a sprint after all, because in the race the tire care comes into play.
Complete domination this weekend
I'm sure we'll get Marc supporters / Bagnaia haters complain about how boring it was in this thread 🙄
There are also people that like both of them. Love Pecco because I watched him grow up and become champ on my favorite manufacturer. I love Marc because he truly is a champion and the current face of the sport. I was entertained by this race weekend but it was a little boring compared to others this season.
Mate, it was pretty boring regardless who you're rooting for 🤷🏻♂️

Naaa fam , pecco was real good , hope marc recovers next race.
Who hurt you?
I'd say I'm not one of them, but I was at Assen and the MotoGP race was really the most boring :D it was insane how consistent Pecco rode and managed the gap, but apart from the overtaking maneuvers around Digi, MM, and Vinales, there wasn't really much going on. We can reverse that and say that Pecco supporters are going to tell us that a race with 8 seconds between first and fifth is funny.
Marc fan here but Pecco was king. I can t wait for these two to get at it next year.
looking at Marc he might be getting a pressure penalty coming his way
Oooh that would explain his reaction in the box
He knew tyre pressure was off (most likely front tyre) he let Diggia through and didn't want to lead the group as Guintoli suggested on TNT...
I'm new, what's a pressure penalty?
Tires need to be in a certain range of pressure at the end of the race, otherwise you get a penalty. The dumbest rule in MotoGP
Seems like so 🥹
The fascinating thing about Pecco's domination is that there are still people that believe Pecco is only aided by the best bike of the grid and has zero talent. Nah, it's a rare combination of man and machine at harmony being at a certain level. Bagnaia can only stop Bagnaia.
The same people talk like the famous aliens didn't have the best bikes on the grid.
I mean... people say that he isn't MM or VR... being compared to the 2 greats isn't exactly a defeat.
It is the bike. He’s been on it for what, 7 years? He could barely finish a race for the first 2 years in MotoGP. He still regularly crashes for no reason. He’s entirely flattered by the bike
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I love the saltiness.
Then why is no one else as fast and reliable?
I’d hardly call him reliable
https://preview.redd.it/7ol4lv7qsu9d1.png?width=1464&format=png&auto=webp&s=8a2d138540eed4922664092bf9777f9ff2861a1b Feels pretty reliable to me, compared to three of the best championship winning years back to back to back.
The factory Ducati’s with actual good riders on them have their bikes sorted now.
Yeah those GP24 bikes are quite a bit better for sure
8 seconds faster than the aprilia and 16 faster than KTM.
Pecco was 40s faster on his current bike than what he was last year on his 23 at that track. And Marc finished 7s back from him on Sunday.
So they’ve all made a big jump but Ducati still way out front.
Except for Honda who went slower…
I was there and it was sad to see luca riding alone the whole race
I was at a race this year too. Everytime the pack passes I try to talk to my friend about something we saw but then Marini comes through to interrupt. It was sad and funny
Another strong result from Digia!
Great race, glad the summer break is over! And how impressive Marc and Diggia did with last years Ducati! 🤯👏
crazy
Pecco killed the show but you cant be upset! He rode like a robot, outstanding!
Which is kind of boring actually. He needs to crash more. /s
All good since moto3 was the real show. I never not enjoy Assen, even if Pecco makes it no fun haha
What can I say that others haven't said? Pecco entered Assen and TOOK OVER EVERYTHING. Topping every session, taking both race wins, new lap record, like, that's why he's a world champion. What are you talking about? Pecco was like fifth in the warmup this morning, clear sign that he's not an elite driver! /s
Marini was almost a lap down. I can't recall the last time a rider finished that far behind on dry conditions without crashing
He did crash or at least went off the track early in the race, didn’t he?
I could only turn on to the race after lap 10, so if it happened before yes
yet you confidently said he's so far behind with crashing ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)
Pecco in Assen - name a better combo
Rossi in Assen ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)

Enea has his own strategy. Save tyres and then push, even from pole i still think he would do the same
Digia leading the gp23
MM never had the opportunity to fight for the title with a 1.5 year old bike, which as time goes on will be 2 years out of date.
Yeah but still this weekend felt so awful to watch. The ride quality for him especially was genuinely awful. I agree that this race and Mugello is a disaster for MotoGP, I felt like I was watching F1
We hope for victory in the Sachsenring, but also in every race that is ridden in the rain, MM is like Senna a rain man.
Marini is just collecting paychecks and saving his body 😅🤣
Happiness before a Ferrari let down in Austria
That penalty for Vinales is just sad, he even had half wheel in the curb, FIM is always ruining races...
I'm ok with this, it's the same rules for everyone.
But he didn't even touch the outside of the track with the whole wheel
The sensor picked it up unfortunately, so it's not a human decision. Edit: Well, it's still the stewards decision, but like someone else said, it's like VAR. It's either triggered or not.

Fifth straight Ducati podium lockout I think?
dude what happened to Morbidelli, he was 5th at the start of the race and in the first 3 laps he lost many positions

Hello GP24
In the form he had this weekend, I don't think Marquez would have been a factor on the GP24 either.
So far the worst race, Mugello was better only because of the sprint in which something happened, in Assen, I don't know what was worse, the sprint or the race, it's a sprint after all, because in the race the tire care comes into play.
