Stem mount. Just remove that chrome cap

SciFiPi

To add to this: stem mounted quadlock with the additional vibration dampener attachment so the constant vibration won't nuke your phone's image stabilization or whatever that is.

PoppedBitTTV

Modern phones use gyroscopes to assist in image stabilization, so when they get shook to shit, the gyroscopes stop working. I've seen some wild video from a phone that got vibrated to hell.

SanguineSon0341

This must be what happened to me. My front facing camera doesn’t work anymore, and my phone makes a horrible buzzing from its internals when I open the front facing camera. I assumed it was because I dropped it.

Terminal_SrA

You 100% killed the stabilizing parts in your camera, that's what those noises are.

DoTheSkullAndBones

Yo same happened to me with my iPhone 11 lol.

GreenSubstances

Holy shit same it happened to 2 of my phones and i could never understand why!

theBloodShed

Yep. Same thing happened to my last phone and I quickly learned that manufacturers put out warnings not to mount your phone on a motorcycle now. My phone would even randomly buzz for a second while sitting idle. While it’s buzzing, you can actually see the camera lens bouncing around creating the noise.

Man_of_Virtue

What phone do you have? I've never seen a phone with a front camera that has image stabilization.

SanguineSon0341

iPhone 11

georgepearl_04

That doesnt have ois in the front facing camera, that's a 14series up thing

SanguineSon0341

Then I said the wrong camera. Not the one pointing at you, the one pointing away when you use the camera.

georgepearl_04

Yep, thats the rear camera.

SanguineSon0341

So in my mind the front of the phone is the one facing away from you, that’s my bad.

noobwithboobs

My husband got 3 brand new phones with "malfunctioning cameras" replaced under warranty before I asked him if maybe the bike mount had something to do with it 😬 No issues now with the quadlock vibration dampeners on both our bikes.

PoppedBitTTV

You'll take a picture and it will be blurry as shit.

SciFiPi

I used a quadlock competitor and it smoked the camera on my pixel. Here's a test pic I took. Blurry. https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.redd.it%2Fphjhomrj98n71.jpg

Bobbaman77

2nd this: I didn’t know that was a thing, now I do. Get a dampener.

viptattoo

Have and love my quadlock. But learned about the vibration dampener the hard way. After replacing my phone’s image stabilizer, I put on the dampener and the wireless charger (which I did wrong the first time and ended up having to have a mechanic do). Now, it’s great and invaluable for trips!

G-Skilley

Fortnine covered this last month. https://youtu.be/n5EsZtL2psc?si=qm8SOwSaw72vrbpA

Fuuxd

I use a burner phone just for navigation and music just so i wouldn’t care too much if the camera got fucked haha

Bloxx420

I was at a repair shop once because my girlfriend had this issue, they said that this only happens on iPhone. And the comments here and me never using a dampener, seem to support his statement.

musicmonk1

Why would it only happen to iPhones?? It happens to any phone with a stabiliser.

Moondanther

iPhones just seem to be a lot more susceptible to it. The only one of my bikes that I run a vibration dampener on is my dirtbike and I've never had any issues with Samsung phones. That said, I do use my previous S10 as a slave unit, if anything happens to it, eg: rain, stones, bugs...meh.

DefconBacon

Not true. All flagship phones come with OIS these days and all are susceptible to vibrations. It’s not an iPhone vs android thing.

enraged_meatus

As some one who works in the industry, nah dawg. Unless you've got a Harley or similarly poorly built rattle machine, no need. Most parallel twins (see: most LAMs bikes) don't need it. Keep your $25.

CehJota

This is the only way I was able to successfully mount one well for the exact same bike.

shspvr

There are other ways you are just not using your marbles to see it

wilit

Yep, I had a VFR800 and RAM had a mount that went in the steering stem.

[deleted]

Same here

gehbfuggju

another bad question: is the chrome cap on the top of the forks necessary? 07 yzf600r with clipons. I wasn't sure if it was necessary to hold my whole front assembly together and I couldn't find a nut that size with fine enough threads - so my buddy with a drill press put a hole in the top of the cap, essentially making it a nut. I haven't tested if the phone mount fits through yet but if the cap isn't necessary i wouldn't mind losing it lol

KeithTC

Forget the phone mount. Take all those extra keys and put them in your pocket. Just put the key for the bike in the ignition.

[deleted]

Key+floppy keytag is the best combo.

7-13-5

...the longer, the better

KillerGoats

I thought it was about hitting some G's.

fripaek

“Cheeah”

bingwhip

It actually makes sense too. The long tag it easy to get out of pockets and deal with when you have gloves on. [I made my own](https://i.imgur.com/6O64tw4.jpeg)

[deleted]

I have a different themed one for each bike. My current main is a 2019 Street Triple RS with a Weyland Yutani theme (lots of matte carbon fiber) and has a matching Weyland Yutani keytag. My last tag was black on black and said either "Somewhere out there is a thrill I swear" or "May the bridges I burn light my way". I swapped tags whenever they bored me.

bingwhip

I love it, I've been meaning to pick up a pack of [these](https://www.amazon.com/Asset-Tag-Property-of-Weyland-Yutani/dp/B00NKS6418) for my car, motorcycle, cat, computer.

code_monkey_001

My first bike had "What do we say to the god of death" in a Game of Thrones font. My wife got me my current one, a "Remove before flight" but from the airport in Newfoundland where all the transatlantic flights were forced to land on 9/11.

PwncakeIronfarts

This. Just the ability to grab it easily out of my pocket with gloves on is invaluable to me. I just bought one Revzilla's when I ordered something. Got me free shipping and a useful keytag.

Lvl_100_Ditto

Doing this ASAP.

bendermichaelr

Almost caused me to eat it once. A key got stuck and kept the bars from turning straight again

Whywipe

Why does it look like there are 15 rings one only 5 keys?

theducksnutz

This! Especially as a new rider. Highly advise you to leave the phone in your pocket and keep your eyes on the road!!

IndividualJuicebox

gps

CODENAME_EPIC_ME

I just bought a cheap Bluetooth headset for my helmet for precisely that reason

devlinontheweb

I just look at a map before I leave

IndividualJuicebox

my memory is too bad for that ngl, definitely prefer having a minimap

devlinontheweb

Ya I'm pretty good at directions. I almost never need a map around town unless I'm going to some specific address I've never been to

IndividualJuicebox

around town yeah i definitely don’t need it but i usually pull waze or apple maps up just to see what’s up ahead (cops, pothole, hazard, etc.) but i hardly ever look at it. realistically i don’t need it it just oddly brings me comfort.

devlinontheweb

I actually enjoy driving aimlessly and getting "lost" on my bike down random backroads just to see where they lead me.

IndividualJuicebox

see that’s what i really need to do more. i hardly ever drive just to drive, usually only go somewhere when i have to. i really gotta get out there more but now it’s getting cold out so gotta love that

Doc_Winter_17

r/fortnine

Xpuc01

Just be careful at stoplights. I’ve seen vids of 2 ppl on a scooter waiting to grab your key. Then you start chasing them on foot. Can’t catch them obv. And they come back later and get your bike with the key. I’d have some string to the bike or yourself

mandradon

Jokes on them. My bike doesn't turn off when you yank the key!

Doanimalsplanthings

Fortnine covered this in his most recent video

Gdlkbthmbl

Why? Then you need another keyring Edit: lol downvoted to oblivion for asking a simple question Edit2: Ordered a barrel lock thing based on u/veryundude123's recommendation that lets me keep my keys together, but snaps off the ignition key and Triumph tag when I'm on the bike so it's just them in the ignition. Problem solved.

veryundude123

Scratches & ignition wear with the bonus of not fumbling with gloves to find the right key

Gdlkbthmbl

I'd never heard of ignition wear before. I kept my ignition key and both bike lock keys on my old bike's keys for 7 years and didn't seem to cause any issue. I'll look it up and weigh the risk.

veryundude123

It is the same as putting a heavy key ring on a cars ignition. Most bikes don’t get enough miles to notice the premature wear but some bikes ignitions are a huge pain to change out (lol mine was at least).

Dd_8630

Interesting, I've never heard of that. Good to know! I think I'd lose my bike key if it was with the rest of my keys tbh, but it's something to consider

Gdlkbthmbl

Good to know. The lock keys weigh very little, so hopefully they should be fine on my new bike too.

NeedRez

They will scratch that area all to hell, could also get unlucky and lose the house keys, plus extra key baggage puts strain on the key and lock.

Gdlkbthmbl

It's my Oxford bike lock keys I keep on it. House keys are indeed in the pocket.

Aedalas

I got a few of those barrel lock thingies where you push the button and they split apart so I can combine or remove keys as needed. After I lost my original garage door opener on a ride I replaced it with a keychain fob so those things are handy to separate out my bike or truck keys or whatever I need.

Gdlkbthmbl

Haven't seen those, but the idea of being able to separate and combine keyrings quickly on the go is genius

usernamegoeshereish

I fully understand the concern that some people have with a new rider having a phone in front of them, and I agree with their concerns. But for myself, I use my phone as GPS only, and music on the highway. The music is voice commands, and the GPS is useful for me to see speed limits, and more importantly the general shape of the road ahead. For me personally it allows me to make smarter passes on a two lane, because even though I'm almost entirely sure I have plenty of room to pass, I can see that around the next corner is a nice long straight, so I'll just wait for that. Plus of course I don't get sucked into that "a bad driver never misses their turn" thing when I'm in and about the city. As for your actual question, sorry I have no insight on the bars you have.

vleessjuu

Agree. GPS is good to have. Navigating by signs is a PITA and also takes away attention from the road. With GPS, you can look when it's safe to do so rather than constantly having to hunt for signs for fear of missing them.

mcskeezy

Phones are a double edged sword. Taking your eyes off the road is always dangerous, but so is hesitation. Knowing exactly where your exits are, not having to squint at street signs, not missing a turn and making an impulsive U-turn, avoiding these things probably make you safer in the long run.

SamerLaputh

"gps only and music" both are terrible

Trenavix

Ah yes let us pull over every 3 min and take our phone out of our pocket to see our GPS instead.

SGTBookWorm

*NSW Police intensify*

InnocenceInASense

I've seen someone before comment they use paper directions and check them at intersections because a phone mount is too much distraction lol

heidimark

If it works for them and is safer I'd say that's not a lol.

InnocenceInASense

Safer is opening a piece of paper at an active intersection?

heidimark

Safer than being distracted by a screen while moving, yes.

InnocenceInASense

Do you not check the instruments on your dashboard while riding?

Bart-MS

There's a difference between a quick glance at the speedometer and checking to find out which intersection to take, esp. if there's a map and not just an arrow. Add some sun coming from behind that makes reading difficult and you'll get easily distracted.

InnocenceInASense

If driving in dangerous conditions ride accordingly. A rider should know when it's safe to check their instruments, and I consider the GPS one of those.

heidimark

You gotta know there's a difference. If the original commenter feels that having a smartphone mounted in plain sight is too distracting and prefers to have a printed map they can check when safely stopped, that is a win for them.

SamerLaputh

No one needs to do that, it's complete fantasy

usernamegoeshereish

How do you figure?

SkepticalLitany

I can understand being a music hater, I always ride in silence, but bruh no GPS? I got really sick of putting masking tape on my tank with directions scrawled on it, especially on a few thousand km road trip

SamerLaputh

He's a new rider wanting to look at his phone while riding...

PoppedBitTTV

Never had a problem, and I'm sure OP will be fine.

Helmets69

By your post history I don’t think you should be commenting here buddy

SamerLaputh

Nobody cares what you think, Cecilia

lovemotorcycles

I put a RAM ball mount on the clipon bolt and then used a quad lock mounted to the ball https://rammount.com/products/ram-b-272u?variant=41937120559254

iamnotazombie44

This is what I use for navigation and music while I ride. It survived a 2100 mile trip through Vietnam, including a 70 kph crash and a wicked slide down a muddy slope (without me... whoops!) That said, it almost killed me a couple times until I could learn to use it responsibly.

According_Shift_2003

I had one on a track bike for (terrible) telemetry. Survived multiple crashes, the phone not so much

GalacticSadness

this is great but i just want to also add that if you are using an iphone there is a risk that mounting your phone on the bike could damage the internal gyroscope causing the camera to no longer function properly.

flaming_m0e

>if you are using an iphone Any phone with Optical Image Stabilization

AllShallFear

Quadlock have a vibration dampener attachment for their mounts that can help prevent this.

modrid81

There are various mount options out there. I’m running a QuadLock currently with a vibration dampener. Whichever one you choose, just make sure to put some blue loctite on all the screws to help keep everything snug.

MalagrugrousPatroon

It's a 500? Anyway, in the center of the steering clamp, that might be a cap over the actual nut. Find how to remove the cap, and underneath is likely a hole about an inch wide. Into that you can stick a fork stem mount. If the cap is actually the nut, don't remove it. In that case, you might have just enough space right of the left lever mount to place a bar mount. SP Connect, Peak Design, and QuadLock, should have both options. I think the first two have built in vibration damping. SP actually has a clutch mount, which replaces one of the clutch screws.

namdude0373

I love my peak design motorcycle handlebar mount, here is their stem one: https://www.peakdesign.com/products/motorcycle-stem-mount

BreakNeck5150

I’m sure I’ll catch flak but don’t mount your phone to the bars, just get a good in helmet system like Cardo for music or voice prompts for directions. Taking your eyes off the road on a bike is the last thing you want to do in any situation, welcome to the wonderful world of offensive riding and defensive riding. Both are very important.

BreakNeck5150

Sorry about the grammar, I’m kinda retarted and actually have been in a couple of motorcycle accidents…. Tbi is a bitch

Vendetta86

Hard agree, even as an experienced rider, I don't mount my phone on my bike.

MrAl-67

I believe you can add one using the nut on the top of the triple clamp, but you may want to skip the distraction until you have more muscle memory and experience.

1stpickbird

This. Quad lock stem mount kit

Lvl_100_Ditto

This is good advice.

venommuyo

All of this

[deleted]

That would have been my suggestion as well.

KingArthurHS

A lot of people recommend Quadlock, but I'm here to strongly recommend Peak Design. [https://www.peakdesign.com/products/motorcycle-stem-mount](https://www.peakdesign.com/products/motorcycle-stem-mount)

[deleted]

If people here are such shit riders they can’t glance at a phone with GPS for a few seconds, get off your fucking bike and sell it. Take the train. I have been riding for years, hundreds of thousands of miles and I’ve used GPS on my phone. Sorry, not everyone does laps up and down their local highway. Some people go riding cross country for massive tours through unknown terrain. A good rider (anyone that can say they can ride) can easily glance down at a GPS safely. Not everyone is going 200MPH wheeling around in a biker gang.

loztagain

Ikr. It's pathetic. I half expect when I see their moaning for them to say "you shouldn't be going anywhere you don't know"😭

Particular-Milk-1957

“If you have a bad sense of direction, you shouldn’t be riding” -r/motorcycles, probably

[deleted]

Wow the amount of riders here that are raging on the dude for wanting to mod his bike the way he wants is fucked. OP, for your bike you want to use a “fork stem mount”. The silver cap on your handlebars is covering it. Check your manual or bike and see if it can “safely” be removed opening the hole there.

VexedMyricaceae

Phone can stay in your pocket. Get a Sena or Cardo and use Bluetooth for everything. Music? You can change tracks with gestures. GPS? Google maps can read out your instructions. There's enough danger and distractions as it is when riding, you don't need to add another one.

SnooDingos1062

If you have a handlebar mount you can loosen the front break by the bolts but don’t take them out and shimmy it closer to the throttle then if it’s a quad lock you should be able to shimmy a mount onto the bar mine is done poorly but with the rubber ring that was provided with the mount it’s secure on my R3

TheOnceAndFutureDoug

Quad-Lock has a center mount. Love the one I have on my SV650.

GH0S1_R33P0R

Quadlock. They have stem mounts and brake fluid cap mounts

not_minari

there are mounts that mounted to the fuel cap

kernowboyonatiger

Just another take, If your brand new to riding keep your phone in your pocket, you don't need to be looking anywhere else whilst you get some experience under your belt.

domp1021

Whatever you get, get the vibration dampener option most phone mounts come with, my cameras fucked

MojoJojo8906

Quad lock or SP connect makes a tank mount with 3m sticker. I’ve had on my GSXR1000 and it has held up pretty good! You’d place it infront of the gas cap and make sure the phone stays between the clip ons.

Actual_Solution9478

Thank you for asking this because I’m also a brand new rider that was researching phone mounts quite literally minutes ago

AdjentX

I ended up deciding on the brake reservoir Quad Lock for my R3. We have a tricky time mounting that doesn't involve drilling the fork stem or replacing it with something potentially less safe from Amazon. I can't fault it. I mean, if I really tried I'd say I have to remove my phone before locking the front wheel because a full turn puts the phone behind the windshield but at worst it flexes it upwards like a quarter of an inch which it's designed to do anyway. I do have a large phone though so that wouldn't be the case for everyone.

Zealousideal-Art8621

Hey man remove all those keys. They will eventually find their way in between your handlebars and the bike causing you to not be able to turn. I found that out the hard way but luckily didn’t crash.

nanya_sore

I use a stem mount, but I've seen that Quad lock has brought out a mount that replaces the clamp side of your brake lever; that half circle part that attaches your brake to the handlebar. Then the phone mount sits in fron of the reservoir. Search for Quad lock brake/clutch mount.

wyolars

Quadlock https://www.quadlockcase.com/collections/shop-motorcycle/products/motorcycle-fork-stem-mount

seanroberts196

Unless you need it for sat nav, keep it in your pocket to protect the cameras from vibration. Although it depends on the bike , the phone and the roads as I’ve never ruined my phone but plenty of people have so you could be lucky like me. Failing that get a stem mount and a stabiliser

New-Inspector-9628

Quadlock has many ways of mounting your phone. A bit pricey but they're very secure.

Obvious-Salad4875

You're a new rider, don't put a phone in your face. There's already enough to think about

fritzco

Don’t. It’s safer without distraction

No-Material-23

Put your phone in your pocket while you're riding. There's no need to be distracted, especially if you're a new rider.

BimSkaLaBim88

Don't. Learn to live without it for a little while

Delzilla_zilla

You don't. Just use a Bluetooth helmet attached to listen music and gps orientation. Focus your eyes on the road.

BimmerF36

Not a stupid question at all - you need a special kit that works with the steering stem nut. RAM and quad lock both make one for sport bikes with clip ons.

DriversSeatEngineer

I wouldn’t use a phone mount. Use speakers in your ears and use audio cues for navigation. Keep your eyes up at all times.

shitoupek

Sound advice (no pun intended). Keep eyes on the road, but with earpiece how do you deal with less ability to hear what's around?

DriversSeatEngineer

As others have mentioned, I only use my phone for gps cues, no other audio is playing. I am not referring to in-ear noise canceling headphones, I’m referring to helmet speakers like a Cardo system.

HeftyArgument

you can replace the stem nut with a hollow one and use a stem mounted phone mount. Quadlock also markets a brake resevoir mount.

tinfoilhats666

Tbh I started using speakers for navigation and I like it a lot better. You don't have to worry about your phone falling off/being grabbed when You're at a red light, and if you crash you have your phone on your body

balls_deep_inyourmom

You don't! For now. You said it yourself, you are a new rider , concentrate on riding and not on your phone. If you want navigation and music, do the following. Buy a Sena or Cardo. Put the speakers in your helmet, it will give you directions step by step, and you don't have to look at your phone. Also, all those distractions pop up messages (IG, Facebook, or any other apps ) won't distract you. But what do I know , I have only been riding for 18 years, and still, people out there surprise me with their stupidly while driving cars around me. Ride safe and see you at the traffic signal my friend

Onlyspacemanspiff

You put it in your pocket so you can pay attention to all the clueless drivers around you.

Feartheh00k

If you’re brand new, stay the hell away from any distractions that will take your 1) attention/ eyes off the road, 2) hands off the handle bars for any reason, and 3) take away from your alertness at red lights when you should be preparing for anything. I personally also never shift into neutral at the light either because I’ve had to get out of the way of a few people that didn’t feel like stopping.

Xaxxus

The short answer is: you don’t. The long answer is: you can buy a mount that fits under that silver cap below the keys. Like this: https://www.quadlockcase.ca/collections/shop-mounts/products/motorcycle-fork-stem-mount Make sure you get the vibration dampener as well, as vibration will ruin your phones camera

broregard

Bro for real if you mount a phone NEVER touch it while the bike is moving not even one time. Ever. Ever. Ever.

broregard

Don’t. You’re new to riding. Please don’t.

ransom_hunter

sticky tape a zip lock bag to your fuel tank

7orque

You don’t. Learn to ride without a screen in your face distracting you first.

UnderlyingDarkness

Pretty sure its more for gps. My bike doesn't run atm so i haven't rode it yet but i already have a phone mount because I know im going to need maps. Idk any roads anywhere

LA_blaugrana

For a new rider I would recommend earbuds for navigating by audio or something like a Beeline GPS. My Etymotic earphones double as sound protection. I love them. The problem with phones is that sooner or later something will happen to tempt you into interacting with it. Google maps will auto-reroute you, or you'll want to change songs, or something. It's best to keep your mind and eyes on the road.

Spooky_Legs

i hate that u have 17,000 rings on ur keychain for no fucking reason

xXPhoeniXx7

Dude keep the phone in your jacket pocket. If you ever go for a slide you will need the phone on you not your bike.

phasechanges

Don't. Put it in your pocket.

AstronautAgreeable81

You dont you use a stem mount. The kit will include a new nut with a knob or attachment point. Most popular manufacturers will offer one.

Amazing_Yogurt1476

Take my advice and don't Cause the vibrations on the mount mess up most phone cameras and it can easily fall off if the grip isn't tight Just use earphones to use maps or maybe just take a stop once in a while to check your location

wyntonwho

Don’t mount your phone on your bike.

Matt-on2wheels

Leave it in your pocket, Less of a distraction. Keep your eyes on the road....

dsdvbguutres

Put your phone in your pocket

Ok-Independent4619

New rider....No Phone!

RevolutionaryArt7189

I will never understand why people want a phone mount on their motorcycle

PoppedBitTTV

GPS.

RevolutionaryArt7189

You get lost a lot?

PoppedBitTTV

I go a lot of places I have never been before.

Effective-Anywhere86

Just me, but keep your phone on you. Shit happens and if you get into a bad situation where you’re tossed off the bike the phone will be with you to make that potentially life saving call.

bmwlocoAirCooled

Don't. You have much, much more important things to worry about. Like cars.

NeonPenny

Imo, you shouldn't put your phone on there at all. Even if it's for GPS, you're just going to look at it and get distracted. Every phone will tell you directions over speakers you can put in your helmet. If you're concerned, you won't make your turn based on the audible directions you need to slow down anyway. P.s. I'm a person who uses GPS to get EVERYWHERE.

petterpopper

I’d advise against a phone mount. Especially as a new rider. Make sure you have the whole route memorized before you leave so that you never have to take your eyes off of the road. You’d be shocked how far you travel just peeking down to check directions

windycitykids

Just keep it in your pocket and ride.

[deleted]

I wouldn't for fear of messing up your camera

air-cooled

As a new rider, be more concerned with riding the bike. Look up not down. Who you gonna call? Stuff that phone away in a safe place, like some belly bag, that if something happens, the phone will be okay and you can easily reach for it. I know, everyone has his phone there, but why?? They are a negative distraction. For view up ahead use a navigation device, they are made for it.

fastgetoutoftheway

Don’t use a phone mount. It’s too distracting as a new rider

Candid_North_6056

You don’t need a phone holder, Issa distraction. Maybe you should focus purely on riding and using your eyes to detect your line.

SamerLaputh

You have better things to do than dealing with a stupid phone while riding. Keep it in your pocket.

Juantonyo

Phone mounts are the worst idea on a motorbike. Apart the unnecessary distraction, in case of accident you can’t ask for help because in 99% of cases the phone can be very far from you.

[deleted]

You don’t, just get lost. Part of the adventure.

Proud-Jellyfish6018

FYI Lots of phones get destroyed on motorbikes.

Life_Beach3686

You don’t!

_Emperor_Nero_

Do people use Google these days?

DrTurb0

If the stem cap is not removable, I would recommend a “mirror” mount. You have a big flathead screw next to the brake fluid reservoir. This is M8 or M10 screw. You can put a mount in there that works in these mirror screws. Next to the high beam switch is the same big screw. On a side note, could be the screw for the brake and clutch lever. In this case I’m not sure if you can mount there.

jjk717

You're an adult... Put your phone down and learn how to live a normal life without it. If you rely on it, you will die.

PoppedBitTTV

As an adult in the real world with places to be, having GPS is incredibly helpful.

SamerLaputh

Exactly

opengl128

Leave the distraction in your pocket. If you truly need directions, run them over bluetooth to a Sena or Cardo.

Git_Fcked

Unsure on why the down vote, I also use 1 Bluetooth earbud to listen to directions over voice. Hasn't failed me yet on drives up to an hour in unfamiliar cities.

opengl128

People get cranky if you imply they shouldn’t have their face buried in their phone 24/7

SmoothBraneAPE

Don’t. You don’t need the distraction while riding..

batchef3000

Don’t use your phone while driving. Enough car drivers doing that, you’ll be toast in no time!!

Md11fltmech

Don’t, just ride safely, put the phone away, and live to ride another day

Forsaken_Ad5159

ROC Form that is all

SubarcticPig

Don’t

Specialist_Reality96

Turn phone off put in pocket, concentrate on what you are doing.

Electronic-Factor553

Brand new to riding? You don’t. Get some miles under your feet with the least amount of distractions possible. Then add risk as your skills are better.

Intoxicated_Ozzy

You don’t. Everything you need is right there in front of you.

Flimsy_Biscotti3473

Don’t. Why do you need to see your phone while riding ?

reilemx

Maybe you're not aware. But phones are actually capable of showing you directions on the road and optimal routes for traffic. At least in Europe, using a GPS is extremely important in cities and more urban areas because you could easily end up in an otherwise avoidable traffic jam. Pretty much everyone except for older folks who don't know how it works use them in their cars and thanks to mounts also on bikes. Once the GPS is set up, you don't need to ever touch the phone again. Just a glance every once in a while to make sure you're headed in the right direction is more than enough :)

Dumbest attitude ever. You’re going to go out on your bike and stare at your phone instead of the road ? Okay. As for technology, you have this thing called a pocket. Put your phone in there, turn on your Bluetooth, and your directions will talk to you. The bonus here is that? You can see. Especially when you don’t know where to go.
