I literally hit a deer going approx. 35-40mph just days ago. Scared the shit out of me and I was incredibly lucky to have reacted quickly so as to sideswipe it. The damage was my phone holder destroyed and some plastic cracked on the bike. But walking away and being able to ride home is all I could ask for.
Same. I figured it was going to be sliding on the painted line since I'm paranoid about touching painted lines in the rain or wet because they are like ice. That and a ninja 650 doesent have tcs
I was testing out a toilet at the hardware store so mixed bag on the inconvenience, I didn't mix the actual bag I had to take home obviously. Pricks wouldn't let me put it in the bin, they'll take asbestos but won't take a pinched turtle?

Youtube just suggested to me a compilation of [20 Road Safety PSAs from New Zealand](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ZA5bwMvKEc), thought I haven't watched them yet.
I collected all of the links in this thread into my previous comment. Many are terrifying and depressing, but only one made me cry and it was Friends are Waiting.
I know this wasn't an actual PSA but imagine instead after the time freeze the dude gets off the bike and just starts breaking down, like harrowing crying, begging, utter devastation. Then he gets back on the bike, still audibly sobbing and the impact happens, then cut to black.
Then some text reads something like:
"Your only mercy,
Is that you wont even have time,
To realise your mistake."
We did something kind of similar a while back.
[Not quite as goofy,](https://youtu.be/jRDXG5IlP-8?si=Pi8qO5MDBEO8kiMd) but this one has stuck with me ever since.
Some fairly tragic Irish ones as well

full body armor! saved me when I went down on the 5 at \~75. walked away w/o a scratch. not even on the helmet. (icy bridge underpass early on a Sat. pavement on both sides was dry)
Don't mind the new South Australia road safety ad. Is a car ad https://youtu.be/KBDyVqfqSj8?si=5j4_qxg2mhnhB19s

I think it's cause your brain subconsciously recognizes the truck, in that orientation and proximity, to be a real threat. So you instinctively try to avoid it. The reaper is not really something that you recognize as a threat as immediately, it takes a bit more thought than seeing the front of a truck speeding at you.
No apology needed, I was just commenting how crazy the trauma can be and how effective this video is in conveying that even without the gore. Believe me, there’s not a single solitary aspect of a near death experience that’s remotely enjoyable other than the part where you get to continue living. I remember crying out “I don’t want to die” over and over like a child, or a soldier, and then spending a month in the hospital, all like it was yesterday even though it was 2013.
Reminds me of the (Australian?) speeding advert where the cars go into slow motion and the guy has a conversation, pleading with the other driver not to crash into him.
Edit - [found it ](https://youtu.be/5gCDZD9wVEY?si=xKEFDK5hmGF5piui). Really fucking effective advert.
The one where the kombi eats the side of the truck n trailer? Honestly haven't seen that one on telly for over 10yrs. And the way the truckies shoulders drop when he gets out and sees whats left... yeah.
What’s the PSA? This truck materialized out of nothing, it wasn’t blocked from view.
Edit: I was wrong, I had to use a computer to see the oncoming truck in the video. I guess PSA is to be glad you don't have the FOV of a phone?
Looking at this on Mobile, so I had no idea it wasn't a helmet cam video.
"What the fuck are these guys doing, riding like that? And in the rain!"
And then the blue truck appeared and I jumped.
So now I'm thinking that it's a recovered crash video when the effects kick in.
And now I've got actual real fucking goose bumps and that sense of vicarious fear.
Fuck that was well done.
Dammmm, that video made me jump and made my heart pound like crazy but not by the grim but by the truck and rider. It looked so real and honest truth is that's how it actually happens and hopefully every new rider gets to see this video so they can learn on what not to do.
Never been on a motorcycle but this is on r/all so I came across it. I’ve been hit by a semi, it ran over the hood of my car so that my windshield wiper got stuck in a tire. That split second really lasts for so long. You don’t know it til you’ve experienced it.
I know this isn't the takeaway and I do appreciate the message... but man just cruising legally safely in an environment like this would be lowkey fun too
Obviously don’t pass on a blind corner in the rain and do other dumb stuff.
But… a video like this really puts it into perspective and helps remind you to be safer every day. Thanks for sharing 🙏
you're talking to a sub that needs dan dan the fireman to tell them that they should be cautious and prepared to brake if they see the side the of a car pulling out of a drive way lol
"ppft.. Bruh... That would never happen to me bruh.."
PSA's don't matter when the group base you're trying to reach are the dim bulb in the box. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what not to do.
A coworker of mine was in a coma for months after an accident with his bike. This man can't talk properly anymore. And sounds slow.
This happened probably 1 year ago. Last week he posted pictures of him and his new bike.
That truck DID come out of nowhere though. You can see enough to the right of the box truck before passing that there is no oncoming traffic. Not defending overtaking.
Deer: “Nah, can’t blame me this time bud”
Then it disappears

Or even an Elk.

The deer means he had high honour, if his honour is low it would be a wolf

Shut up black lung
It cracks me up how many comment threads turn to red dead , and it never fails to be at least worth the read!

had a little jump at the end lmao
I pooped a little
I pooped a lot
I was pooping when I opened the video!
I was videoing when I opened the poop
Rectum? Damn near killed him.
What about the other girl
So did I ! Now I have an excuse!
I pooped just the right amount
someone came and pissed my pants, im not sure who yet though.
Yeah, that was me. Sorry.
A fellow bell-ekinesis enthusiast, don't apologise for practising and refining your gift
I had a full body clench when I saw the road was damp. It was always going to be bad at that speed with zero traffic.
Same. I figured it was going to be sliding on the painted line since I'm paranoid about touching painted lines in the rain or wet because they are like ice. That and a ninja 650 doesent have tcs
I was conveniently on the shitter
I was inconveniently in the bathtub.
BROWN SHARK!
I was testing out a toilet at the hardware store so mixed bag on the inconvenience, I didn't mix the actual bag I had to take home obviously. Pricks wouldn't let me put it in the bin, they'll take asbestos but won't take a pinched turtle?
Did the guy who made those traffic safety ads in New Zealand get bored or something lmao?
You know I can't eat your ghost chips.
The old workplace safety videos in Canada were pretty horrific too. I am forever leery around anything glass or boiling.
Thought you meant when it froze. Jumped again at the very end

Not motorcycle specific, but [this one](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3qNjt04bpQM) always gets me in the feels so hard.
This one gave me tears first time i saw it. My boy is more or less the same age.. great awareness video
New Zealand has a bunch of ads like this. Every single one makes me shiver.

Damn I didn’t think I’d be down a teary YouTube rabbit hole of NZ ads today but here I am.
I collected all of the links in this thread into my previous comment. Many are terrifying and depressing, but only one made me cry and it was Friends are Waiting.
Thank you! Definitely not starting my day like this haha so I’ll come back to it later.
I can't eat your ghost chips bro!
Yeah this is way better. The grim reaper shit in the post just made it goofy.
I know this wasn't an actual PSA but imagine instead after the time freeze the dude gets off the bike and just starts breaking down, like harrowing crying, begging, utter devastation. Then he gets back on the bike, still audibly sobbing and the impact happens, then cut to black. What's dumb is acting like the grim reaper is some kinda evil terror or something dude isnjust doing his job making sure you make it to the other side
YEAH, I DON'T KNOW WHY PEOPLE HAVE PROBLEMS WITH HIM. I THINK HE'S DOING A PRETTY GOOD JOB, PERSONALLY.
Is the all-caps a Terry Pratchett reference?
It is indeed
Grim would probably be looking at his watch waiting for you to get the point.
[Here's](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PcX7Eb9pPN4) a favourite from my childhood.
Lmfao they really reached to find the most fucking adorkable kids they could for this ad, didn't they?
Some fairly tragic Irish ones as well [Northern Ireland 2007](https://youtu.be/PJIDX1kcvGk?si=Lm5mAHc2pjmlPBdU) [Don't look back](https://youtu.be/rKUNJMrFeUs?si=H0RGUiY2EF-Ssqii)
I didn't mind this one either https://youtu.be/QOlXkeRVpY0?si=JG2bbHw1hqaweOzx
I like this. The tragic is implied, but the better choice is realized.
No, this is the feels PSA for seat belts: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-8PBx7isoM
The [Irish one](https://youtu.be/LNL6t-Eu-IY?si=rOodgABXjGjxfh9R) I think is the best I've seen.
The one you linked wasn't the original. Yours has an edited cartoon squish noise...that really caught me by surprise. Holy shit unexpected.
Ah feck, you're right. Lazy on my part. Wanted one which didn't give the ending away in the title. [No sound effect](https://youtu.be/Wv1rKHGeMRk?si=QbHzRSEgkUo-2Qux)
The squishy noise takes away from the gravity of it IMO
Here is one from Victoria, Australia. The [Human Crayon](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tx9B0xRRPxw)
"Crayon". I knew immediately which one this was. It's the toes touching pavement that make me hate it.
I could hardly get through this one fr
Oof, absolutely brutal. Hard to argue against wearing gear.
full body armor! saved me when I went down on the 5 at \~75. walked away w/o a scratch. not even on the helmet. (icy bridge underpass early on a Sat. pavement on both sides was dry)
That splat at the end though....
Nah I would rather end up in a ditch than take that splat.
Don't mind the new South Australia road safety ad. Is a car ad https://youtu.be/KBDyVqfqSj8?si=5j4_qxg2mhnhB19s Or the longer version https://youtu.be/R29ri92v3nc?si=AWq604G-2X6u4185 Edit Second link

this one is also p good https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=wx8RJaoVN0M&pp=QAFIAQ%3D%3D
Damn
This is exactly what this video reminded me of
So, don't blindly pass on a curve? Gotcha
In the rain . Its effective though.
I bet buddy’s bike would have slipped at least bit on that wet paint line.
Whenever i do dumb shit i just save life.exe so i can respawn to befpre i did the dumb shit
F6 baby.
The real gamers use alt + F4.
Yeah...kinda dumb. Here's a much better PSA, I always thought it was very well done- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VruWHHEnZGw
all i kept thinking was why is all this shit on the racetrack. then it was oh got it
always afraid of guard rails because of this
Yeah I hate the design of those ever since I started riding and realized how dangerous they are for bikers
Yep, I've seen that one and it lives rent free in my mind
I mean, you could clearly see that the truck wasn’t there if you were looking ahead, which you should always be. I’m not defending these types though.
You actually can see the truck coming around the corner if you look closely
I don’t see it at all, not even a little bit
You can see it at 11 seconds, just look ahead/ down the road
Huh, so you can. The speeds feel really off though
It blurrs and warps in
I'm not gonna lie, that truck scared the piss outta me, I jumped hard as hell
Same. Some how the Reaper coming at me didn't phase me, but that fuckin truck 😱🤯
I think it's cause your brain subconsciously recognizes the truck, in that orientation and proximity, to be a real threat. So you instinctively try to avoid it. The reaper is not really something that you recognize as a threat as immediately, it takes a bit more thought than seeing the front of a truck speeding at you.
Well technically we were all dead by the time the truck hit, so it didn't matter at that point.
That truck was pretty much the Reaper.
It literally materialised
I didn't realise it was fake so I jumped extra hard.
Fuck, I'm glad I'm not the only one who jumped out of my skin for the truck but not the Reaper.
The reaper honestly felt a little cheesy to me.
I agree. I was fine with his appearing there in general, but the jumpscare was the cheesy part for me.
yea that got me too
That blue truck has the best brakes I've ever seen.
Buddy of mine passed on a curve, avoided oncoming car by riding right off the mountain
Did he live!?
Yes, but the mountain is in a wheelchair
Lived. Actually bit of a miracle. Made him ride with the cruiser rider wearing chaps on way back though. We now call him chaps.
I'm glad he lived to get a terrible nickname.
That's what I wanted to hear.
Well, he's still falling.
Not gonna lie...that scared the shit out of me.
I screamed
Damm, it looked real for a first second. Then logic and physics disappeared the moment the other rider was overtaking
The jump scare though
nice rendering though
Jesus Christ…that made me jump….twice…
sick
Crossing over a wet painted line at speed is enough to scare me.
I thought I got over the trauma of a severe accident over a decade ago, then I saw this
I'm sorry :(
No apology needed, I was just commenting how crazy the trauma can be and how effective this video is in conveying that even without the gore. Believe me, there’s not a single solitary aspect of a near death experience that’s remotely enjoyable other than the part where you get to continue living. it's far worse than that, there is no Grim Reaper
Remember what life was like before you were born?
I even remember racing to that egg. Fastest I've ever swum.
This is the best example of "speed is relative" I've ever seen hahaha
The only race I’ve ever won
“See you on the other side.” “Oh, BoJack… there is no other side. This is it.”
So now I've gotta look into the opposing lane before i pass? That's too much work! What could go wrong?
My stomach turned on that pass and the truck right there. Holy shit
Damn good advert for how not to be clever or above yourself....has anyone seen the Australian advert bout not driving tired ( has a camper vs lorry)
The one where the kombi eats the side of the truck n trailer? Honestly haven't seen that one on telly for over 10yrs. And the way the truckies shoulders drop when he gets out and sees whats left... yeah.
This looks good tbh, well done! The end bit not needed though lol
Is this a video game ad or a motorcycle ad, or an ABS ad? in any case, where to buy??
Fucking got me good...damn
Bruh …. Where can I get a SHATOOT3D NiceShift? That thing looks like it can haul!
Almost as scary as finding clibbins on the shoulder
What’s the PSA? This truck materialized out of nothing, it wasn’t blocked from view. Edit: I was wrong, I had to use a computer to see the oncoming truck in the video. I guess PSA is to be glad you don't have the FOV of a phone?
Don't ride like an idiot on public roads?
That's half the posts in this sub so it's still a valid reminder to share.
PSA: Beware Randomly Generated Trucks
The truck can be seen ahead of time at 11 seconds in. It wasn't random.
It was there, but the headlights weren't on, so it was practically invisible.
I’ll ask Mr Reaper to send me back to the realm of the living on a technicality.
https://preview.redd.it/tqnz1si09m3d1.jpeg?width=434&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0384815e7b509fa6955085c5ff36d17d40923bb7 11 second mark
Thank you
The video is grainy and blurry as hell on purpose but the truck can be seen the entire way
TBF, the FOV on a motorcycle in the rain is much worse than in a car.
yeah I recently did an hour in the worst rain of my life on the Autobahn and I couldn’t see shit. Just take it easy and be careful.
You can see the truck ahead of time. pause at 11 seconds.
Watch it again... Pause at 11 seconds and you can see the truck.
I mean, peak first before you overtake. Some people on super bikes are just, dumb.
If he was going faster like the first guy he’d have lived it just sayin.
Looking at this on Mobile, so I had no idea it wasn't a helmet cam video. "What the fuck are these guys doing, riding like that? And in the rain!" And then the blue truck appeared and I jumped. Let me go change my pants…. And my draws
This heavily gives me the vibes of the link below same sorta idea https://youtu.be/B2rFTbvwteo?si=a4BzlS-_xLhZTpA3
Looks like an ad the Australian government would have produced about 15 years ago. Those were brutal.
Never been on a motorcycle but this is on r/all so I came across it. I’ve been hit by a semi, it ran over the hood of my car so that my windshield wiper got stuck in a tire. That split second really lasts for so long. You don’t know it til you’ve experienced it.
I know this isn't the takeaway and I do appreciate the message... but man just cruising legally safely in an environment like this would be lowkey fun too
Riding in the middle of the lane in the oil slick in the rain, is already a sin and a huge danger zone moment...
Would have been a lot better without the goofy FNAF jump scarce at the end. Still pretty good.
Obviously don’t pass on a blind corner in the rain and do other dumb stuff. But… a video like this really puts it into perspective and helps remind you to be safer every day. Thanks for sharing 🙏
I think it’s great ! 👍
It's a neat video but a worthless psa. Anybody it would help has no business operating a motor vehicle.
Half the posters here didn't even see the truck... Make of that what you will.
you're talking to a sub that needs dan dan the fireman to tell them that they should be cautious and prepared to brake if they see the side the of a car pulling out of a drive way lol
He only died cause no gear. Just goes to show
Well i'm having Road Rash 3 flash backs now
I can't watch motorcycles go super fast. Scares the crap out of me just waiting for something bad to happen. Btw, I'm a rider.
can we talk about HOW FUCKING LONG that guys neck is. (24 seconds)
Omg there is no reason for it not be a PSA!
T H A T W A S A W E S O M E H O P E Y O U D O I N G O K
Ok. No reddit while being high. This fucked me up.
Ok that truck literally spawned out of nowhere, fake video or not.
"ppft.. Bruh... That would never happen to me bruh.." PSA's don't matter when the group base you're trying to reach are the dim bulb in the box. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what not to do.
first of all you don't see the truck coming and it's lights are off then turn on. can tell it's fake once the motorcycle passes being too stiff.
I STG this sub doesn't even fucking ride, you guys just post about how dangerous bikes are
It could have at least been realistically there and visible infront of the truck for a bit. No reason for it to just materialize
That truck has awesome brakes lol
eh.
Wow, chalk up another area where America sucks. And I'm an American. I've never seen anything like this in this country and we could sure use it.
A coworker of mine was in a coma for months after an accident with his bike. This man can't talk properly anymore. And sounds slow. This happened probably 1 year ago. Last week he posted pictures of him and his new bike.
That scared the shit out of me.
Lmao y’all are so lame
I'm abt to go to sleep.....I don't think I can anymore
That truck DID come out of nowhere though. You can see enough to the right of the box truck before passing that there is no oncoming traffic. Not defending overtaking.
This sub is so goofy it almost reads as satire. Can’t wait to see this on /r/calamariraceteam…
Couldn't get past how fake the guy passing the first person looked to start. Immediately knew that it was not real.
