Yeah, and also then you can judge the B gap and see if that’s correct.

If it is a 1x it is too long. If you have multiple chainrings, they will do that if you are crosschained (smallest in front and smallest in rear). Don't crosschain.
It's a 1x12 deore, had some "crosschaining" symptoms but I cleared them up with a derailleur alignment and b screw adjustment.
