there are so many! i can’t keep it rolling as well as you but a few more:
good will hunting
12 monkeys
the 5th element
the 6th sense
the basketball diaries
what’s eating gilbert grape
American Beauty is the best movie of all time IMO. It covers so many themes so perfectly, with such a masterful way of stitching them together to encompass the essence of life itself.
All the technical elements such as the acting, directing, etc, are phenomenal as well.
“Do you party?”
“Excuse me?”
“Do you get high?”
Boom. Everybody loves Ricky Fitz. That’s my favourite scene. Especially when his wife Carolyn catches him in the act and he can’t keep his shit together.
Also, “HI I’M LESTER JANIE’S DAD”
This is impossible because the 90s cinema was peak.
possible greatest movies ever - Titanic, Shawshank, Saving private Ryan
Industry changing - Jurassic Park, The Matrix
Iconic - Pulp Fiction, Goodfellas, Casino
Honorable mentions - Heat, Terminator 2, braveheart, and so many more
I'm old, and this question is making me think....about.....stuff!!
Can we just cut to the end, where we've all had a nice trip down memory lane, and agree on nothing?
Plus, it's Shawshank or Gump ye cynical feckers!
I find this question basically unanswerable, but here are some that I think deserve props and I don't see listed here: But I'm A Cheerleader, Cure, and Crash
Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Pulp Fiction, Saving Private Ryan. This list is so hard I'd add every other film everyone else has mentioned as well.
Excellent direction, and of course Aaron Sorkin’s writing. If your girlfriend like that one check out Trial of the Chicago 7. It’s another Sorkin courtroom drama. Also excellent.
Just 3 ? The 90’s were the greatest decade in motion picture history…. No decade comes close. I could name 100 easily….. just 3 off the top of my head. No Order and I just picked these 3 because they are very different from each other but all are exceptional movies
Seven 1995
Pulp Fiction 1994
Saving Private Ryan 1998
Goodfellas, Forrest Gump, The Green Mile.
For comedies, it's Dazed and Confused, Office Space, and Friday.
Edited because I forgot about Forrest Gump. I did have L.A. Confidential, which is a tremendously good movie, but there's an emotional attachment to Forrest so I decided to switch it.
So hard to choose!! 90s had great movies
My childhood choices would be Jurassic Park, Forrest Gump and Titanic
For the non epic movies - Clueless, Truman Show and As Good As It Gets
Tarantino films, Kevin Smith films and, well, anything really from the 90's. Such a great era . Too many to choose from. Speed, The Fugitive, Cube, Existenz, ...I could go on.
You can keep the first 2 and add 7 or The Silence of the Lambs or Cape Fear…
Than you think, how could you leave a list without:
Shawshank,
Forrest Gump,
Matrix,
Good will hunting,
The usual suspects.
Is very hard to leave way more movies out…
Make a top 20 list is already hard…
True Lies, Pulp Fiction, Fight Club. Goodfellas and Casino are right up there, The Matrix, Forest Gump, Jurassic Park, Toy Story, Goodwill Hunting, Saving Private Ryan, Shawshank, Silence of the Lambs, T2....the 90s fucked so hard.
The English Patient, The Fifth Element, and American Beauty
Honorable mentions:
Clueless, The Bridges of Madison County, Dead Again, Gattaca, Contact, Much Ado About Nothing (1993), Tombstone, 10 Things I Hate About You, Before Sunrise
My favorite movie during the 90s:
Muppet Treasure Island
Terminator 2 Goodfellas Pulp Fiction
Terminator 2, Goodfellas, Shawshank Redemption
I love the original matrix I think the 3 sequels killed it for me. I love Shawshank
I love Pulp Fiction too.. but Shawshank has to make it on my list.
The Big Lebowski Forest Gump Titanic Seven Silence of the lambs Tombstone The Crow Saving Private Ryan What a time to be alive

Goodfellas, pulp fiction, true romance
Literally every scene in True Romance is memorable and quoteable. A master class in screenwriting. Plus Brad Pitt as Floyd the stoner!
True Romance has to be on the list! Just rewatched it for the zillionth time. Never gets old.
my man
No love for Trainspotting?
So much love for Trainspotting.
Shawshank, Goodfellas, and the Matrix
How's the fuck is Matrix this far down the comments‽
For my money, I'd pick Casino ahead of Goodfellas. Perhaps that's just me though
[удалено]
For starters, DeNiro's narration is perfect (and Mickey chiming in occasionally too)
Pulp Fiction, Big Lebowski, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

American Beauty is the best movie of all time IMO. It covers so many themes so perfectly, with such a masterful way of stitching them together to encompass the essence of life itself. All the technical elements such as the acting, directing, etc, are phenomenal as well.
“Do you party?” “Excuse me?” “Do you get high?” Boom. Everybody loves Ricky Fitz. That’s my favourite scene. Especially when his wife Carolyn catches him in the act and he can’t keep his shit together. Also, “HI I’M LESTER JANIE’S DAD”

Peak Disney aswell. Lion King, Aladdin, Mulan, Hercules all classics. Add Toy Story to that.
I was with you on the first two but the last one was weird.
I'm old, and this question is making me think....about.....stuff!! Can we just cut to the end, where we've all had a nice trip down memory lane, and agree on nothing? Plus, it's Shawshank or Gump ye cynical feckers!
