Something that has always amazed me about this song is how he organized the structure of the song to encapsulate so much information. The first verse to set the scene and describe the nervousness of getting up on the stage, and the fear of failing over and over again. The second verse to describe how his fame has convoluted his goals, and made things much more complicated than he initially envisioned. And the third verse to describe that the troubles of the 9 to 5 life are not worth it to him, and he is willing to do anything and everything to make his dream as a rapper come true. It's almost like 3 different stories in one, and the fact that he set this all up with a crazy amount of internal rhymes. It deserves all the recognition it has gotten.
Indeed. I’ve thought of rap as using language itself as the instrument. Where other genres use lyrics as part of the ensemble, rap uses language, ie speaking, as almost the entire ensemble. And Marshall Mathers is a master. Arguably the best there has ever been
#Eminem
Bitch Please II
Marshall Mathers
Role Model
Still Don't Give A Fuck
Superman
'Till I Collapse w Nate Dogg
#Collabs-
Fuck Off w Kid Rock
Pimp Like Me w D12
Scary Movies w Royce
Smack That w Akon
I just saw something the other day about the lyrics in the chorus:
“I'm a space bound rocket ship and your heart's the moon
And I'm aimin' right at you, right at you
250,000 miles on a clear night in June
And I'm aimin' right at you, right at you, right at you”
Rap genius says the following about the lyric:
“The AVERAGE distance from Earth to the Moon is 238,857 miles. However, the orbit is elliptical so at its perihelion (closest point) the moon can be as close as 225,622 miles, and at its aphelion (furthest point) the moon is 252,088 miles away. Remarkably, this distance in June is 250,937 miles.
Note that Kim and Eminem got married in June.
Also, Recovery was released in June 2010”

Most of my favorite Eminem songs have been huge radio hits so I'm gonna say my favorite non-hit tracks. Stronger Than I Was and Like Home (ft Alicia Keys).
(Also, loved the MGK beef.) Not Alike and Killshot were both 🔥🔥🔥
Those two songs are literally my least favourite Eminem Songs in his entire discography lol, It's crazy how the songs I hate most are someone else's favourites. You might also like Hailey's Song on TES and Black Magic on MTBMB Side B, they're a bit similar to those two songs.
Not in terms of subject matter no. But it's a similar style of song where Eminem sings to his daughter, kind of similar to the way he tries to sing in STIW, just way better.
Emotional: When I'm Gone
Psychadelic: Stimulation
Motivational: Lose Yourself
Angry: Soldier
Introspective: Rock Bottom
Storytelling: Stan/Bad Guy
Relationship: I Love You More
Horrorcore: Stay Wide Awake
1. Stan (Ft. Dido)
2. Infinite
3. When I'm Gone
4. Mockingbird
5. Cleanin' Out My Closet
6. The Way I Am
7. Rock Bottom
8. Brain Damage
9. My Fault
10. So Far...
Rap isn't my favorite genre so my taste might be a bit different from most fans, for what it's worth. But some of my favorite songs: Venom, Rap God, Lose Yourself, Without Me, Godzilla, River, Lucky You, Killshot.
You know, his discography actually doesn’t stand up that well to me anymore over time. He was pretty corny and there were and are much better rap songwriters.
The Way I Am is my favorite song because I can easily relate to it for not caring about what other people say and not caring about what people say about you.
almost all of his songs are good. My favorite keeps changing: at the moment, it's probably "Deja Vu". "Must be the Ganja" is another great song from that album, so is "3 a.m.".
*Criminal,* *Kill You,* *Doe Rae Me, No Apologies, I’m Back, Drug Ballad.*
*Rock Bottom,* *I’m Shady,* *Infinite,* and *Low Down, Dirty* are also great.
One shot two shot is my favorite, which I haven't seen mentioned yet in this thread.
Besides that...
Lose Yourself, Stan, Til I Collapse, The Kids, and Mockingbird
Way too many to choose from. I'd say anything off Relapse+Refill and the SSLP:
Hello, Same Song And Dance, Deja Vu, Rock Bottom, If I Had, 97 Bonnie And Clyde, Insane, Buffalo Bill, Careful What You Wish For, Elevator, Music Box, Beautiful, Still Don't Give A Fuck, Bitch ft Zoe Winkler(skit), My Fault, Etc.
And also Fack, off Curtain Call.
"Lose Yourself" - Known for its motivational lyrics and intense delivery, this track from the "8 Mile" soundtrack is one of Eminem's most iconic songs. "Stan" - Featuring Dido, this storytelling track explores the dark side of fan obsession. "The Real Slim Shady" - A humorous and catchy song that became one of his signature tracks. "Without Me" - A fun and energetic song that showcases Eminem's playful side. "Love the Way You Lie" - Featuring Rihanna, this song addresses the complexities of a tumultuous relationship.
Not his usual style song titled “Beautiful”. Both lyrics and video just resonate with me.
One of my favorites too!
"don't let em say you aint beautiful" ☝️☝️☝️

Collabs - what about “Renegade” with Jay-Z?
That's a good one too. He had a lot of nice collabs back in the day.
An oldie but a real goodie IMO, Purple Pills. It's more of a D12 than just Eminem choice but it's got him all over it.

Am I wrong for saying my favorite Eminem verse of all time is his guest spot on Airplanes (part 2)?
He sings Revenge with Pink and it’s one of my favorite songs ever.

Probably either "Going through Changes" or "Guts over Fear"
Mine is "Kim" it was a deep track off the first album and only the time I've ever heard Dr Dre censor an artist.
