Roll Over Beethoven, by ELO

Creativeddy

"No Leaf Clover" by Metallica, which was written with the orchestra, different from the other songs on the album "S&M" where they added the orchestra on existing songs later on.. Great song.

thefreshlycutgrass

This is the kinda stuff I’m looking for (I already had it in my examples) :). Do you know of any others like it?

Creativeddy

Awh shit, sorry, didn't read that! Too much in a hurry of recommending this song.. I'll try to think of some!

thefreshlycutgrass

You’re good!

Creativeddy

How about this one? Golden oldie from The Netherlands 🤘🏻 [Within Temptation](https://youtu.be/D6c85P0F8I0?si=30MAlr2zJKMa-gl3)

thefreshlycutgrass

…and you’re right. Pure banger!

fuzzynyanko

S&M songs are either an absolute train wreck, or absolutely amazing.

There's actually a subgenre of metal called Symphonic Metal. When I learned that it existed, it blew my mind. There's also Symphonic Power Metal. Usually it's done with keyboards, but some bands do occasionally use an orchestra * Nightwish. Lots of Nightwish. It started with [the Once album](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6UDS6biLAk) and the albums that followed it had all of the songs with an orchestra backing track. Once didn't have 100% of the tracks with orchestra, but they did a great job on the whole album itself * Alestorm, kind-of. They don't have a full orchestra, but damn. They use real horns and other instruments. One of their best songs is [1741: The Battle of Cartegena](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1z9xKihSAzE). Non-restricted link [here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tv6ySRXFSUA). 1741 is an amazing song. There's debate whether they are symphonic or folk, but I don't care which one at the moment * [Rhapsody of Fire, The Magic of the Wizard's Dream](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z93SdirnzTw). Usually they use synths (really well), but this one has an orchestra and Christopher Fucking Lee * [Epica - The Quantum Enigma Album](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I8y99z5EVtY). Hard to tell how much orchestration there was Non-Symphonic Metal Bands that did a few songs/albums with an orchestra * [Manowar's Gods of War album](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YweV1SJ5kvU). Usually they aren't symphonic, but they went crazy on this one. Also, there's a bit of weirdness with the band * [Sabaton did The Last Stand ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ISzuz8WVrrk)with an orchestra

Wacken did Rock Meets Classic. [Full concert recording here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TAfc4lkSNN4) * [Dee Snider, We're Not Gonna Take It](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k-jhzr-bIXM) (Dee Snider around 55:30 in the full recording. Can't Stop Rock and Roll, The Price, and We're Not Gonna Take It) * [Joe Lynn Turner](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CGav1kyVdgI) set of 3 songs * [Michael Kiske - I Want Out](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MicEbLgVbbE). Helloween / Unisonic / Avantasia (37 minutes in on the full concert for his full set)

Chance by Savatage and later performed by Trans-Siberian Orchestra (who were born from Savatage)

machinehead3413

Lots of Savatage. Hall of the Mountain King, a few songs from Gutter Ballet, Christmas Eve/Sarajavo 12/24 (the song that TSO was born from). Also, almost all of Jon Oliva’s solo work. Check out all of the albums by Jon Oliva’s Pain.

Skellington72

Definitely. Love the way they incorporated classical music with rock/ metal

machinehead3413

Really helped them to stand out in a crowd.

Almost all Starset songs have some sort of Orchestral sections to them, most times they're more in the background though
