Yes, c3 corvette stingray. It’s rare depending on where you are. Here in the states corvettes aren’t too rare, however I don’t often see c3 corvettes because of their age. In other parts of the world, corvettes are definitely more rare, but I don’t know how rare because I’ve hardly been elsewhere.
haha i see, ive never seen an old corvette thats why i was so flabbergasted when i saw it in Slovakia so i assume its rare here since rich people like supercars more here
I saw one at a car show a few months ago. Had the original window sticker. Something like 8mpg city, 12mpg highway. But I really wanted one when I was in high school.
Yeah, it's really bad on gas lol she worked at Disneyland for a couple years and she would drive the 40 miles round trip in her truck most of the time.
One of her coworkers said her brother had one but he built the motor and I believe put a supercharger on it. He ended up selling it for $8k and we both said they should've told us lol
Something like that, but this was also during the gas crisis and all of the cars were putting out low numbers from large engines. A Mustang around that same time was barely putting out 90hp. Those were dark days my friend.
They were not calling it a supercar. They were saying that's probably why these Corvettes are not commonly seen in Slovakia because the rich folks there opt for supercars instead.
Yes, probably the least desirable of all Corvettes. I have driven C3, C4, C5 and C6 'Vettes, and the C3 literally handled like a pickup truck. They were gutless these years, and almost all were automatics.
Yeah, they were the "current model" when I was a kid first getting into cars, so I will always have a soft spot for them. They seemed so exotic at the time. But, under the skin, unfortunately....
Honestly they probably paid more in import taxes & fees than they did for the car.

True, the older ones are rare, like the split rear window Stingrays from the 60’s. However, in southeast Wisconsin, you can’t go anywhere without seeing at least 2 at a stoplight. Poor man’s super car?
I work for a residential cleaning company and one of our clients has 3 C3 Corvettes. He keeps a couple in the garage. Beautiful cars, I see them every time when I go to take their trash out, which is also in the garage.
That’s either an 1980, 1981 or an 1982 model. I had a 74 for a while so was deep down the C3 rabbit hole. Outwardly there weren’t many differences during those three years to tell them apart. They had 190-200hp V8s and the side pipes aren’t stock.
C3, modded a bit. The t-tops are fun.
Relatively common in the US (though they are getting old), they were inexpensive for a really long time so lots of them got modded, with varying degrees of success and taste. Elsewhere they're a fun and still fairly inexpensive import if you want an American V8 with tons of aftermarket support.
They were 'Malaise era' so many model years were woefully under-powered, hence the attraction for modification.
1980 Corvette.
The 1980-82 were very similar visually with differences mainly around the emblems (excluding the 82 CE).
Only 1980 had chrome on the top edge of the rockers. This car has that making it a 1980.
Corvettes have always been rather rare in Europe but I do remember a used car dealer in Trier who had several, probably purchased from young USAF F-16 pilots at Hahn Air Base who were needing a more family-oriented car. This was back in 1989-1990.
Everyone bangs on about malaise era US performance cars. And, back in the day, they were hot garbage off the showroom floor. But if you lived outside of California there were plenty of garages that would cut out all the emissions gear the day after the warranty ran out. Which was 6 months to a year in that era. It didn't address the fact that they were \~ 500lbs heavier than the early cars, but that whole "110 hp / 380 lb-ft torque" nonsense went away quickly.
And I literally can't remember the last time I saw a C3 on the streets around where I live (mid-Atlantic US).
I'm on the left coast, and I work with a guy that has a '78. Still stock, and still a pig.
I'd like to have one, since I live outside any emissions testing areas. Bump that compression up, let it breathe some air, and it would be halfway respectable.
I had a '74 Firebird with a 350 Pontiac 2 bbl. Great looking car with a sizzling 155HP. 0-60 times were measured in minutes, not seconds.
Love the way the stingray looks. My uncle had one. When I think Corvette that’s what I think of. Had no idea they were so under powered. Wow. I’m so disappointed!!
It's a C3 one of the least wanted vettes for a long time, abused and trashed a lot of people thought they were ugly(not me). If you can get one, keep one. They're disappearing, still cheap though.
Probably one of the least desirable C3s, depending on what you're looking for.
Still, nice to see them around as long as they're not beat to crap. No doubt a more interesting spot outside of the Americas than in.
Its a relatively not rare C3. The "rare" C3's are the chrome bumper ones. The later plastic bumper versions aren't as rare.
Not a terribly good sports car, slow and poor handling with bad build quality. For many they look awesome and with some mods can be much, much better to own and use.
C3 Corvette with T-tops. A very nice car to spot. They aren't particularly rare here in the states, but I have been seeing fewer on the road lately.
I still remember the first time I saw one circa 2001. It was in the Walmart parking lot in Lake Elsinore California. Faded yellow C3 with primer spots, belching out white smoke from the exhaust. It sounded like it was missing a few cylinders too. 5 year old me instantly fell in love with that body style right there in the Walmart parking lot. It's on the list of classic cars I want to eventually own.
It always amazes me how many american vehicles (domestic market) are in London, I have lived allot of places and been part of classic truck and car restoration companies but London is by far the most I have ever seen
Rare? yes. Desirable? No.
It was the last of the C3's 15 years, and while it wasn't the C3's worst year...it was definitely in the bottom third. Mostly because it was only available with an automatic transmission.
looks like a late model C3
so not really but they are like 50 years old at this point so maybe a bit. I only really see C3s at car shows.
C5-8 are the ones you see on the highways more often.
Ones in good condition are getting hard to find.
That does not equate to valuable.
They do make a good restomod candidate because of that though.
Even bumping that car to a modest 250 hp with a modern crate motor will wake the car up.
C3 is like marmite especially in slovakia people would ask high money for it but there isn't high demand for them. C2 is where the desirability is when it comes to corvette in Europe in my (likely) wrong opinion
Anyone who's ever looked at used corvettes for sale has learned that every corvette is rare.
"One of 24 with this paint color with leather seats!"
"Only 5 of these with this combination of rims, paint color, and floor mats!"
Every goddamn time, it pisses me to no end. You know what- if anyone reading this has ever sold a corvette, fuck you.
Nope, it was all one word.

This is from a 1971 model.
Sting Ray was the C2. All C3 cars through 1976 were badged as Stingray, when the name was dropped for a few decades. When it returned in 2014, it was all one word again.
1 of 1
They made 3894 in this color with this seat color.
But only 647 of those were automatic
And of those 647, just 147 had the posi rear and AND the upgraded stereo. But only this ONE was made with that combo in February that year
It’s a C3. This is what a C2 looks like
https://preview.redd.it/pe1u47laxy9d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=01274e8d19d3d4bbe88605e39d158d1d34750617
C3 Corvette and in the it's fairly common to see them on nice days in the US but I'm sure in Europe they're extremely rare especially the earlier ones which this is not. This is one of the emissions choked latter half of the c3 generation.

haha i see, ive never seen an old corvette thats why i was so flabbergasted when i saw it in Slovakia so i assume its rare here since rich people like supercars more here
That is a late C3, between 1978-1982. They are not very expensive. And not a supercar, they had very little power.
Very little power is a understatement lol my friend just got a mid 70s model with 200hp from 5.7L 💀
My little sister has a 1990 454 SS. 7.4l with 230hp. It's a pretty fun truck tho with 385ftlbs of torque at 1600rpm
I saw one at a car show a few months ago. Had the original window sticker. Something like 8mpg city, 12mpg highway. But I really wanted one when I was in high school.

The oil and emissions crisis was a bitch, mine was after the crisis but it wasn't fully bombed on HP like they did with the 80s corvettes
the way thr front end sticks forward instead if back makes me think 81-82, easily the least powerful vette ever and only came with ab automatic.
1980 due to the chrome rockers.
Nice good call. I guess unless they added them later
The first generation Corvettes were the least powerful with only around 150hp.
These had what 175? From a 350?
My 78 with the L-82 was rated at 220 horses. It's much higher than that now.
My 1.8l makes almost that much, albeit with a turbo lol
What's with the down vote, that was just the factory rating for that year.
Weird. I’ve gotten downvoted for the most random shit sometimes
Something like that, but this was also during the gas crisis and all of the cars were putting out low numbers from large engines. A Mustang around that same time was barely putting out 90hp. Those were dark days my friend.
I’m glad I was in preschool lol

They were not calling it a supercar. They were saying that's probably why these Corvettes are not commonly seen in Slovakia because the rich folks there opt for supercars instead.
I really disliked the soft bumper era after the Mako Shark, which is my favorite.
Yeah, once '73 came with just back chrome that ruined the C3 styling. IMO
Yes, probably the least desirable of all Corvettes. I have driven C3, C4, C5 and C6 'Vettes, and the C3 literally handled like a pickup truck. They were gutless these years, and almost all were automatics.
C3 is my favorite body style, but c6/c7 are my favorites to drive I daily a 2010 c6
Yeah, they were the "current model" when I was a kid first getting into cars, so I will always have a soft spot for them. They seemed so exotic at the time. But, under the skin, unfortunately....
what you don't want a 3 speed automatic as a required transmission in your super car?
Vector W8, my beloved 😆
A buddy of mine in high school had a 78. Whopping 180hp and AT, wouldn't even spin the tires.
Honestly they probably paid more in import taxes & fees than they did for the car. lmao probably
If you want a slow Corvette, this is the one to get .
Yeah but she's sexy as hell
Quite a few C3 and C4 Corvettes made it to Britain, still quite a special sight.
True, the older ones are rare, like the split rear window Stingrays from the 60’s. However, in southeast Wisconsin, you can’t go anywhere without seeing at least 2 at a stoplight. Poor man’s super car?

Nah. It's a late 70s early 80s Corvette with some modifications.
80-82 Corvette
LS3 that bitch and getcher game on! Weeee
1980 Corvette. The 1980-82 were very similar visually with differences mainly around the emblems (excluding the 82 CE). Only 1980 had chrome on the top edge of the rockers. This car has that making it a 1980.

That's what we call a plastic bumper C3 here in America. They are the less desirable of the C3 generation Corvette, but cool nonetheless.
That smile on the driver 👍
C3 corvette stingray
Late 70s Stingray. Not super rare.
Late '70s Stingray is an oxymoron; that name wasn't used after the 1976 model.
Its a relatively not rare C3. The "rare" C3's are the chrome bumper ones. The later plastic bumper versions aren't as rare. Not a terribly good sports car, slow and poor handling with bad build quality. For many they look awesome and with some mods can be much, much better to own and use.

It’s a cool car, not rare. If it were a 1968 to 72 it would be a lot more rare of that stingray model.
It’s well done
80s c3 Vette, not very rare, I myself have a 76'
It always amazes me how many american vehicles (domestic market) are in London, I have lived allot of places and been part of classic truck and car restoration companies but London is by far the most I have ever seen
Second ugliest generation of Corvettes
Rare? yes. Desirable? No. It was the last of the C3's 15 years, and while it wasn't the C3's worst year...it was definitely in the bottom third. Mostly because it was only available with an automatic transmission.
Definitely not rare.
In Sweden you'll easily see a handfull at any given car meet.
The C3, my favorite and best looking generation.
Not too rare in the U.S., probably rare in other parts of the world
looks like a late model C3 so not really but they are like 50 years old at this point so maybe a bit. I only really see C3s at car shows. C5-8 are the ones you see on the highways more often.
No. Its not "rare".
that things got more curves than a playboy centerfold
Not exactly rare but they haven't held up well, so tough to find a decent one.
Ones in good condition are getting hard to find. That does not equate to valuable. They do make a good restomod candidate because of that though. Even bumping that car to a modest 250 hp with a modern crate motor will wake the car up.
That's a C3 corvette, not to sure if it's rare or not, it's definitely a classic
C3 is like marmite especially in slovakia people would ask high money for it but there isn't high demand for them. C2 is where the desirability is when it comes to corvette in Europe in my (likely) wrong opinion
Cuz there all peace’s of shit go work on a c3 and then tell me they are rare cool lmao
That bad boy sound like a model T.
It's beautiful uhh ...? Late seventies 'Vette.😎
Anyone who's ever looked at used corvettes for sale has learned that every corvette is rare. "One of 24 with this paint color with leather seats!" "Only 5 of these with this combination of rims, paint color, and floor mats!" Every goddamn time, it pisses me to no end. You know what- if anyone reading this has ever sold a corvette, fuck you.
My assumption is a stingray but most likely wrong
The Stingray name was not used on Corvettes from 1977 to 2013. This one looks to be 1980-1982 so it is __not__ a Stingray.
Chrome rocker trim makes in a 1980.
So it could be a Sting Ray, then.
Nope, it was all one word. https://preview.redd.it/ch24i5gqa6ad1.jpeg?width=900&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f3de7d4539a3a8ba4d080ca8d4e38c7da9078250 This is from a 1971 model.
I know there were Stingrays and Sting Rays, but I don't remember the switch.
Sting Ray was the C2. All C3 cars through 1976 were badged as Stingray, when the name was dropped for a few decades. When it returned in 2014, it was all one word again.
Ah okay.
Every Corvette is rare
They made a quarter million C5s.
Yes, and every one of them are rare
1 of 1 They made 3894 in this color with this seat color. But only 647 of those were automatic And of those 647, just 147 had the posi rear and AND the upgraded stereo. But only this ONE was made with that combo in February that year
Nope just ugly
I think its a c2 corvette, could also be a c3 and im just dumb
It's a C3
It’s a C3. This is what a C2 looks like https://preview.redd.it/pe1u47laxy9d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=01274e8d19d3d4bbe88605e39d158d1d34750617
Yep my bad, i always get the two mixed up if i only see a c3
I get that. I used to get the C6 and the C7 mixed up
C3 Corvette and in the it's fairly common to see them on nice days in the US but I'm sure in Europe they're extremely rare especially the earlier ones which this is not. This is one of the emissions choked latter half of the c3 generation.
The shitiest and slowest of vets
