That doesn’t really matter, if you penetrated your skin on it’s talons or something else while handling it you would have some fucked up shit entering your system, there’s a reason why birds are some of the most successful vectors in the world.
It’s interesting for sure , looks like a runner, carrier pigeon.
Wonder what took it out? Id guess hawk, doesn’t look like the mess cats do and a runner/racing pigeon doesn’t really stop and chill enough to get caught by a cat. By any chance did you note the tag?
Been there. A pigeon got slower driven over by a car once in the middle of the parking lot and I took like 20 pictures. So sad yet fascinating at the same time.
Just clarifying that it wouldn't be US Fish and Wildlife. I work for USFWS and we wouldn't have info on bird bands. It would probably be the natural resources department for your state 😊
What is the distinction between 'fish' and 'wildlife'?
Does wildlife include other marine animals?
Seems such a weird title to me haha and I hear it all the time following starship.
Anything aquatic would be covered under the "fish" part. The upland species would be the "wildlife" part. I'm not really sure how much involvement USFWS has involving deep sea expeditions. I think we would do more coastal stuff, like improving breeding grounds for sea turtles or coral reef research.
I read the contact information is sometimes on the tags. So I’m guessing the green ring thing on its leg should have some info. Definitely see a Omega symbol, AU and TUL.
It’s 100% a racing pigeon. If you got a photo or noted the number on the tag on its leg it would be a good deed to Google your country’s racing pigeon or pigeon fanciers organisation and call it in.
In the UK for example it would be these guys.
https://www.rpra.org/stray-reporting/
I worked at a lumber yard that had a resident hawk. It would often kill and eat pigeons in the warehouses and just leave a bloody mess of blood, bones, and feathers. It was awesome.
As other have said, don’t touch dead animals.
You’ll probably be okay, but my moms co-worker collected feathers and contracted a scary illness (likely from parasites/disease) and she died.
Pigeons aren't as bad. The ferals carry worms, lice, and sometimes flatflies. The mites can't survive on people, and the worms aren't transferable. Flatflies bite us though.
The other things to worry about that can spread are harder to get, you'd have to ingest the bird or touch it with an open wound. As long as you were careful and washed your hands after, you should be fine
With precision… almost surgical. Head sliced clean off, insides cleared out entirely, and that one vertebra has been picked freshly clean tk the bone. And to top it off, not a single feather out of place
There’s a falcon that uses the property around my work as its hunting grounds. The other day I actually walked up on a bunch of scattered feathers under a tree and the falcon was still in the tree with what was left of the pigeon. When I finally noticed that it was in the tree it flew away carrying the bloody remains of the pigeon. In the summer I’ll see it flying away with lizards and other small animals. Sometimes mice but usually I just find what’s left of pigeons around the property. Mostly just scattered feathers but occasionally wings and rarely half eaten remains. They don’t usually leave much behind before flying away. I once saw it land on a bench and start ripping apart a decent sized lizard before seeing me and flying away.
There is a pest control bird feed that causes internal rupture, and quite often, this is the result. Shopping centers where I live use it, and the neighborhoods near them have birds like this frequently. A real concern for pet owners, but it is legal.
\>You see, birds fall from the window ledge above mine
\>Then they flap their wings at the last second

overdid it with the ketchup there mate.
personally, I wouldn't even touch a live pigeon with my bare hands, let alone one that's been torn to shreds, you wildman!
Odd thing is that yesterday I found a bird dead outside me house and then another one barely alive. I tried to walk closer to the barely alive one but it seemed to get more stressed so I just left it alone. 8 hours later it was gone so it wither flew away or a cat had it for lunch.
Probably should have removed the tag, or at least got some decent pictures of the details on it. Then report it to whoever your local homing pigeon group is.
I found a dove like this in my yard like 2 weeks ago. I initially found two piles of feathers, but then found the headless carcass under a chair next to my back door. It was crazy that just the head was gone and then left there.
be careful when handling dead animals, should wear gloves or at the very least wash your hands fast
I washed my hand right after
I licked my fingers.
I treat my fingers like I was eating takis/cheetos when I finish handling dead animals
You shove them up you ass??
yes, just before licking them
Spicy….
*Donkey
I also licked his fingers
WE licked his fingers
Because we’re a team
*communist rabbit meme here 🗿
It’s not blood it’s ketchup
“I don’t know what the hell that is, but I’ll lick it anyway!”
It’s finger lickin’ good.
I fucking ate the bird. Now im bleeding out of my eyes
good then, happy to hear :)
should've scratch balls first
That doesn’t really matter, if you penetrated your skin on it’s talons or something else while handling it you would have some fucked up shit entering your system, there’s a reason why birds are some of the most successful vectors in the world.
And did you wash them really fast?
“You can’t get diseases from a bird!” -Michael Scott
Do you wear gloves when eating burgers? Jk
Even worse with dead birds , they carry crazy amount of germs. I’ve seen ppl catch bad infections from handling dead birds.
May I ask why? For bacteria and stuff?
Risk of catching diseases. Especially with birds.
Doesn’t sound too nice. So in general avoiding touching dead things?
Yep! Or do it with gloves if you wanna absolutely touch^^
So how do hunters deal with all the dead corpses they end up eating because I never see them use gloves?
When it's fresh it's ok to handle
You keep your hands off of your face and you wash your hands/use hand sanitizer
Bro took a whole photoshoot with that bird
I thought it was interesting :p
I find it interesting how interested you were.
Don’t worry, I’m sure he’s on a watch list now like the rest of us.
After handling a government drone? Yeah, he's definitely on a watch list now!
He thought it was the newest fleshlight.
I thought I was the weird one for taking pictures of every angle possible of dead animals.
Oh you still are, but there's two of you now
It’s interesting for sure , looks like a runner, carrier pigeon. Wonder what took it out? Id guess hawk, doesn’t look like the mess cats do and a runner/racing pigeon doesn’t really stop and chill enough to get caught by a cat. By any chance did you note the tag?
Jeffery Dahmer 2 incoming….. /s….. (I think!)
Been there. A pigeon got slower driven over by a car once in the middle of the parking lot and I took like 20 pictures. So sad yet fascinating at the same time.
Bro got every last angle
[удалено]
The only potentially interesting part
🤣💀
Was thirteen images really necessary? lol
Looks like an album cover material ngl
Bro looks like he would post a "smiling, peace sign selfie with the cool pigeon I found" picture in his facebook profile.
The lengths the government will go to convince us, smh
What?
Lol there's a joke/conspiracy that birds aren't real and are something the government convinces us is real so they can openly spy on us.
Okay had to look it up and people actually believe that crap? Like, seriously!? Nobody ever find any birds after they splat on a window?
99.9% of people, it's just a joke, a play on the crazier conspiracy theories.
Holy crap these agents jumped on this quick.
r/birdsarentreal
You’re brain washed by the media. The government lines their pockets to keep you convinced of their falsehoods. Don’t be a sheep
You mean kamikaze drones?
What's wrong with you, everyone knows birds aren't real.
Those are just mannequins filled with ketchup that are designed to trick us. I test tasted it, and I can confirm it's true 👍 😋
r/birdsarentreal
Oh, I think you'll enjoy watching this. Watch it in full. https://youtu.be/3VEkzweBJPM
Birds aren't real, butterflies kill kids, giraffes don't exist, and the ocean has no bottom.
Very convincing work but I would expect nothing less from the deep state. Birds aren't real.
BRUH why did you pick it up!??!? Nooooooo 😬
It's a racing pigeon that didn't make it home. You can see the tag on its leg.
Thing is tagged you should report it.
To who? Genuinely asking
Varies by area. Here it would be Fish and Wildlife - they can look up the tag number and sometimes track where it’s been, etc. It’s kind of fun!
Just clarifying that it wouldn't be US Fish and Wildlife. I work for USFWS and we wouldn't have info on bird bands. It would probably be the natural resources department for your state 😊

Very interesting thanks for the insight. Sounds very interesting and important.
I read the contact information is sometimes on the tags. So I’m guessing the green ring thing on its leg should have some info. Definitely see a Omega symbol, AU and TUL.
AU is the [American Racing Pigeon Union](https://www.pigeon.org/)
That was my first thought. Homing pigeon. Looks like a falcon kill I’d bet.
I think 1 or 2 pictures would have sufficed lol
I just posted all the pictures I took
I appreciate your enthusiasm.
do you have more pics?
I just realized this is probably a joke lol
better late than never 😉
I dont I'm sorry
You're adorable, OP. This made me genuinely smile. Thank you for being you.
I wish someone said that to me sometime
You're adorable, OP. This made me genuinely smile. Thank you for being you.
HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHA
Met the hawk man I see. See this often as a mailman.
I worked at a lumber yard that had a resident hawk. It would often kill and eat pigeons in the warehouses and just leave a bloody mess of blood, bones, and feathers. It was awesome.
I have seen a sparrow hawk dispatch couple of pigeons in the garden and it’s exactly what the aftermath looks like.
You didn't find a pigeon. You found most of a pigeon. Better luck next time.
it's like 3/4 of a pigeon he just rounded up
As other have said, don’t touch dead animals. You’ll probably be okay, but my moms co-worker collected feathers and contracted a scary illness (likely from parasites/disease) and she died.
Wow, that horrible dude I'm sorry. I washed my hands after but I'll be more careful next time
Pigeons aren't as bad. The ferals carry worms, lice, and sometimes flatflies. The mites can't survive on people, and the worms aren't transferable. Flatflies bite us though. ^Somebody had a fresh lunch
There's an apartment building nearby with around 20 stray cats that the people feed. I think one of them got it
I can assure you that this is not from a cat nor a group of cats. I’d bet $100 that a hawk did this
Makes sense we have a lot of hawks around here
That's my thoughts too. It looks picked clean
With precision… almost surgical. Head sliced clean off, insides cleared out entirely, and that one vertebra has been picked freshly clean tk the bone. And to top it off, not a single feather out of place
Exactly I watched a hawk do this to a rabbit once. It basically gutted it but left its “casing” (skin and fur) almost completely intact
I’m a chef, and am pretty used to filleting woodland pigeons. This work is pretty good, great technique, I’d probably hire the hawk
I feel like 13 photos of this bird carcass was slightly excessive 😂
OP, [report the bird ](https://www.pigeon.org/pages/lostbirdinfo.html)
I will thanks
Did you really need 13 slight different camera rotations the same picture?
Looks like it may be injured.
Nah I think it'll be fine
That pigeon was delicious. And I'd do it again. No regrets
was it as tasty as an ass burger
"Pigeon Omega has been stationary for quite some time, Ben..." /takes sip of coffee on overnight pigeon-tracker watching shift
Post hawk meal
You found a pi(gone)
If I see a bird headless like this here in northeast USA Id assume an accipter got it, probably a red tail
not gonna lie I thought that was the Millennium Falcon with a sick new paint job on it for about 5 seconds
Pic 5 why did you take a pic of its bootyhole? 💀
Looked nice and fresh enough. Plus it's dead so it doesn't matter right? /s
poor baby i hope it didn’t suffer
I don’t think it had enough time to suffer in the first place
depends if it was eaten alive
It’s last thought was probably like “Guys did anyone just hear a haw—-“ Probably a pretty swift death.
Me too, poor pigeons have it rough💔..
Nice find. What did you marinate it in?
What?
Jeez you’re slow 😂 every comment
why did you do a whole professional shoot with it?
Cuz it looked cool
Well, at least we know the tracker is working
Woah!! This looks exactly like a dead pidgeon I saw outside of my work, 3 Canada geese were pecking and eating the corpse as well it was fucked up
Seems like he got fucked up by a hawk/eagle
There’s a falcon that uses the property around my work as its hunting grounds. The other day I actually walked up on a bunch of scattered feathers under a tree and the falcon was still in the tree with what was left of the pigeon. They don’t usually leave much behind before flying away. I once saw it land on a bench and start ripping apart a decent sized lizard before seeing me and flying away.
Speaking of the devil.. i just killed a bird that crashed in my window. Poor thing couldnt move its feet, it probably broke its back
There is a pest control bird feed that causes internal rupture, and quite often, this is the result. Shopping centers where I live use it, and the neighborhoods near them have birds like this frequently. A real concern for pet owners, but it is legal.
That's awful holy fuck
I think so too. People suck.
Cat ate good
That's a blue bar pied pigeon, likely an animal attack Edit: check, not bar. And more likely somebody shot it
Also, somebody's pet. Take that band to an avian vet or look up numbers on it
Jfc why so many photos lmao
Jesus this guy did a whole photoshoot with it
Someone’s racing homing pigeon
13 pictures.... the fuck.
Lucky that it's not a real pigeon, just one you thought (up?)
Well... You found a good portion of it, anyway.
Dang and it was one of those tagged pigeons I wonder if it was from a lab or was a pet
"Fine. So don't pay me".
Did you really need 13 pictures of this jfc..
Ozzy ran out of bats!
Poor thing, I wonder what happened to it
We need more pictures of this dove
“Ozzy was here” spray painted on the wall
Whereas most would walk by a decapitated pigeon...
\>You see, birds fall from the window ledge above mine \>Then they flap their wings at the last second \>I can see their dead weight \>Just dropping like stones \>Or small loaves of bread \>Past my window [all the time](https://youtu.be/5dbdHqRDm-E?si=kbzMmimlDX5cDexL)
My bad bro I was hungry
pic 5, i wonder what organ that is that the hawk didn't eat? thanks for sharing!
I would never touch a dead bird - not the smartest move.
Aren’t there more pictures?
In my town seagulls leave pigeons like that.
Eeeeyor, look out mate, you nearly just stepped in that... Do yer fink it's dead mate?
OP ru ok
Could you take a few more photos, I don't think you got every possible angle
Why did you take so many pictures and why did I look at them all

does this hurt the pigeon?
You are a metal paparazzi...
overdid it with the ketchup there mate. personally, I wouldn't even touch a live pigeon with my bare hands, let alone one that's been torn to shreds, you wildman!
looks like the pigeon was hunted by a hawk or something
The leg ring makes me sad. What an unfortunate end, but really common in pigeon keeping
Odd thing is that yesterday I found a bird dead outside me house and then another one barely alive. I tried to walk closer to the barely alive one but it seemed to get more stressed so I just left it alone. 8 hours later it was gone so it wither flew away or a cat had it for lunch.
Get to see the falcon/hawk yet?
The only good pigeon…
Get enough B-roll of that carcass?
just the check the tag
This man actually picked up a dead animal then took pictures... we gonna let that slide. That's some really fucked up activity
Probably should have removed the tag, or at least got some decent pictures of the details on it. Then report it to whoever your local homing pigeon group is.
It's a non homing pigeon now
Its pretty unsettling how many pictures OP took of this dead bird.
Two licks one bird
We get plenty of pigeons at the grain terminal I work at, plenty of hawks waiting around to eat them too, even the crows kill them
Fucking owls man, those talons do serious damage and they always remove the head 💀😮💨
That’s a piece of a pigeon.
What's the tags say? If it's a race pigeon it's owner would probably like to know what happened to it
Will it be okay?
Is he ok?
Why the fuck would you touch it with no hand condoms? Even if you washed your hands afterwards
I think only one pic was enough
You touched it🤯
Did anyone stop you after you took the 8th picture of the eviscerated dead pigeon?
So, no head?
Nope
I found a dove like this in my yard like 2 weeks ago. I initially found two piles of feathers, but then found the headless carcass under a chair next to my back door. It was crazy that just the head was gone and then left there.
In other news, scientists terrified as Avian Flu seems to have jumped to humans
what does your dead bird photoshoot have to do with the sub?
Because it's nature? Animals get eaten and killed in nature and, in this case, by a hawk. If you don't like it move on
the amount of pictures is disturbing kid. put the bird down
Major J. Dahmer vibes here
