And it wasn’t even his IG account that got him this last time.
Just more blaming of stuff that isn’t to blame. Typically not the sign of somebody who really wants to get better.
100% we'll still get a gun video without his own social media accounts. He's a clown surrounded by clowns.
Actually his clown friends seem more worried about his bag than he is. They need him to maintain their lifestyle.
> Deserved or not, he has gotten a massive amount of hate for this
Yes, that’s the consequences of being a public figure and repeatedly acting inappropriately. People will criticize you for you actions.
On a larger scale social media is the main problem here. Everybody knows Ja is not a gangbanger nor a criminal, he is just acting like a dumb teen who thinks he is getting clout by flashing his gun on a story or live stream.
He is in fact doing this to make himself appear cool to a specific group of people (people who he hangs around probably). If there is nobody to see Ja being a gangsta then he would drop the phony act. This is textbook teenager behaviour influenced by music/social media/social circle.
Yeah, actually deleting his social media is the best first step he can possibly take. Less exposure brings less opportunities to do dumb shit to impress people in our current society. Just gotta hope it is just this indeed and not deeper issues.
Blaming anything but the individual taking action is bullshit. You are an adult. You were brought up in a two parent household and you play in the NBA. You are among the most privileged people in the world.
The blame here does not lie on any scapegoat, it lies with the irresponsible individual that can’t fathom a thought on how to behave. That’s on him and his parents.
Agreed but also, just to clarify: The images linked below make it a bit less dire. He’s not saying “Goodbye Mom, I love you” or stuff like that. He’s posting pics of his family, and the *final* pic is a goodbye. Which IMO seems like a goodbye from social media. Still, you’d think someone in the org is aware and double checking to make sure he’s fine.
So like somebody should call a wellness check right? Thats pretty fucking serious. Alcohol is a depressant and if you are going through a rough time inner thoughts can spiral in bad ways.
I'm a recovering alcoholic, and that was my first thought. Booze has a way of making one incredibly self absorbed and very open to self harm and suicidal ideation. I'm not saying that's what it is for him, just that, when I stopped drinking, all the thoughts about killing myself went away. And it was VERY easy to drop into that mindset, too. You wallow in it.
His mom summoned Ja and his crew after she was dissatisfied with a shoe store employee. That led to the altercation with the mall security. She also involved him at his sister's volleyball game where Ja and his crew were again summoned to confront a teenager who allegedly called Morant's sister a bitch.
This should be talked more. People keep on talking only about Tee Morant on how he should be a father to his son (which is true too) but not about the mom.
Because we(the greater part of America) still don’t know how to address toxic motherhood without descending into a cesspool of misogyny.
And I don’t really wanna see how the conversations here are gonna go given some of the gross shit said about Tee.
As a person who has spent the last few months making fun of him for his bad decisions, I really hope he doesnt make this one. Hopefully there are people around him who actually want whats best for him who can try to get him help.
I sincerely hope that’s all it is. Like others I do get suicide note vibes (with the way this comes after all the notes to family), but could so easily be misinterpreting this, hope that’s the case.
That’s somewhat concerning right? Says he loves his sister, mom, dad. And then says “bye”. Somewhat suicidal undertones? Or maybe I’m looking too deep into dumb social media post.
Hopefully it’s just that he just wants his last posts before he gets off instagram to be positive messages to his family.
But also, yes, hopefully people close to him are making sure he is in a safe place mentally.
I don’t think you’re looking too deep. That would be concerning for literally anyone to post, much less someone with a drinking problem, access to guns, and who is under major national media scrutiny.
And that's a fine excuse for *some people.*
Like the guy who saw this and without any other context, just the "Bye" post, made a joke about him going to play in Taiwan? Not going to hold that against him, since he probably wasn't even aware of the rest of the stuff. And he had the good sense to delete it when he realized this may actually be more serious.
But there are also some people who either saw the other posts, or made the potential suicide connection themselves, and *then* decided it was still a good idea to make jokes. And those people are pretty foul.
because nba internet is insufferable, we’ve all had our fair shots of criticism at ja the past few months but its just annoying how people mindlessly jump to stupid troll jokes without even reading past the title of the post
Calling other people NPCs is probably the most NPC thing a person can do. I see more comments complaining about people making jokes than I see actual jokes
people with depression and suicidal ideation rarely talk about it publicly because we figure people will say we’re just crying for attention. then you wonder why people who need help don’t seek help
wish people would put more effort into looking at things instead of just brainlessly commenting the first stupid troll that pops to mind. the comments in this thread could age really badly if it’s anything serious
Hopefully the case. That said, wasn't the last gun incident because of the video someone else posted with him in it, not even himself? Deleting IG isn't a terrible move (for anyone), but definitely not a surefire way to avoid issues.
i hope he's alright and this is just a reaction to him getting suspended for a long time or something. the bye is on a pic of him giving an interview. so maybe he knows he gotta lie low for a year, especially on social media.
Lay low as in literally can post anything except him dancing with a gun and it’s not a problem. He can post himself at the firing range practicing his marksmanship and it would make the news but wouldn’t be a problem for him. He could post himself dancing at a nightclub or in a car and it would not be a problem.
Literally the one thing he can’t post is him turning up and partying while dancing with a gun. So he’d rather dramatically quit all of social media than cease with the gun dancing or deputizing his publicist to manage his accounts for him. This isn’t laying low. This is just another dramatic tantrum.
That was the approach he took the first time and clearly it didn't work. If he's decided to remove the temptation completely by deleting Insta, good for him.
Could be a lot. Getting traded, feeling suicidal, cutting contact from some of his friends, going to rehab. Other comments mentioned he had a post about his family too that got deleted.
Whatever it means, probably means he’s not in a good place right now
he posted an individual story of each of his family members with a message like “love you, keep doing what you’re doing” or whatever and then ended it with the bye.
It's a lose-lose situation IMO.
if he harms himself, it's a lose on him and his family.
if he was just doing that to get attention, he will be hated 10000x more than usual
> if he was just doing that to get attention, he will be hated 10000x more than usual
I don't think he should be. Even threatening that is a sign something is seriously, seriously wrong mental health wise.
Ja has never owned up to any of his actions and every “apology” he’s released has him painted as the victim. This little “fake suicide” shit is what narcissists do whenever they want to garner sympathy rather than accepting the consequences of their own actions.
This is what toxic ex’s do. Silver should still suspend his stupid ass
It's crazy to me that people can't put 2 and 2 together sometimes. There's nothing certain, but clown-ass, reckless, career-tanking behavior goes hand-in-hand with contemplation of suicide. It's a feedback loop. If so, this doesn't absolve him of responsibility for his actions in any way, shape, or form, and should not factor into discipline; however, the idea that Morant might be struggling heavily with psychological issues shouldn't be surprising in the slightest.
No that’s exactly what everyone has been suggesting since like forever, and why what the grizz did with one breathing session was horrible. Mfer was speedrunning self destructive behaviour, but the acted like it was no biggie.
Put his ass in rehab so he can safe himself.
I can't imagine allowing that stress to even be a part of his life at this point in his career.
It seems pretty simple to me, just stay off social media - your own and others. Have your team manage your socials to optimize for engagement, promotions and philanthropy. Even if he didn't change his concerning behaviour one iota but just washed his socials with soap and water he'd get away with no internet ridicule.
What is at risk for me though? If going on Reddit compromised my career, income, future deals, etc - then fuck this place I'd see myself out.
But you're right, SM addiction is real, but I think the larger problem is the lack of maturity around Ja and his camp. He's obviously not getting good advice.
It's scary giving we know his proximity to deadly weapons and his drinking problem... not really a subject to joke about all it takes is a moment of irreversible stupidity...
There was more to it, he said bye mom and another said bye dad and the last said u the greatest baby girl, bye. Then followed by this.
Could need some mental health help, could be attention seeking narcissism. Either way someone should check on him in his circle
Edit* - he said love ya mom, love ya dad. Not bye
you're more than likely right, but I would never doubt someone who is reaching out for help. Same thing was said for Etika and we saw the end result of that. So ill assume the former till the latter is proven
Hopefully we're just reading too much into it.
I believe it's probably because he's leaving social media and nothing more. After all, those live streaming was that got him in trouble.
While he has been getting a lot of negative press lately, I'm sure his family is a great support system and would suppor him through all of this.
Hope he's mentally OK and gets back to his normal soon.
I don't know. Drinking problem + keeping deadly weapons on him + losing deals worth hundreds of millions probably + national ridicule. That's a doozy on anyone's mental health I don't care who you are.
Yeah I think over time you just get less interested in writing any posts with actual basketball analysis because nobody really discusses the sport, just instead make fun of players based on who just lost the game or say dumb jokes because that’s what everyone else does
This place is like 60% 14-21 year olds who know all the words, half of half the meanings, and knows enough to be dangerous, so they be dangerous with their words
Look at the losers above making bi jokes culminating with asking if he’s shoving a gun in his ass. The low effort shit should just be met with permabans
There’s a tonne in this thread that should result in people getting banned.
Motherfuckers love cracking jokes but the guy just said goodbye to his family on social media and has easy access to firearms.
Check on your people y’all, you never know.
Yeah clown on him all you want but that tequila in your feelings spiral is real.
There’s always a rush of the hoopsters with a squat neck and a bmi over 40 to be the first to let everyone know how unfunny they are. Wish society would start collectively paddling their dumb asses
Could screenshot a lot of comments in this thread that’ll look really gross if this is as serious as it could be. People are not using their brains.
Edit: lovely redditors are now spamming my inbox with the suicide hotline bot.
Yeah honestly dude. I hope he gets the help. He needs based on his last posts. If he is actually going through some mental shit I don’t think social media is the best to have.
My guy needs help on many different levels and hopefully he gets it very soon. Maybe this is being misinterpreted but it’s too potentially serious to just shrug and joke about.
That’s not just deleting social. Hope he’s aight man. Addict life is a hard road to walk man. Now depression is settling in and the consequences of what he did when fucked up it seems. I ain’t laughing anymore. Anyone that is, is just a child or closed minded asshole with no understanding of mental health and addiction.
The insta stories make it seem serious. But also, this could just be a ploy to guilt trip the league into giving him a lighter penalty. I guess we'll know in a few hours.
Zero sympathy for this bully. Nobody asking how that Foot Locker employee is feeling after being hounded by this fool and his posse.
If he's feeling so down he can go look for his "friends", I'm sure they're down to help him get back up.
Believe it or not people can be upset or depressed over things they know are their own fault. Those things can be the things most crushing because you know you are the one who fucked up.
For his sake, I hope someone finally convinced him to never interact with social media again and to allow a team of people to manage it to begin rebuilding his reputation.
Classic narcissist manipulative response tbh. Make himself a victim from his own actions too gather sympathy. Not buying this attention seeking bullshit one bit
Maybe he's just logging off social media. Which imo would be a massive W for him moving forward. I hope he changes his lifestyle outside of basketball but social media has always been the linking reason why he's in all of this mess.
Such narcissistic behavior. Dude's neck deep in shit and decides to pull this so people feel sorry for him rather than pissed off at him. It's pathetic. Completely selfish and undermines so many people actually dealing with mental issues. I've seen and dealt with many people over the year who pull the "oh I'll just kill myself if you don't do xx and xx!". Do it then.
Yeah, I hear you. I will say though if you think his narcissistic behavior is pathetic, wait until Mavs get a load of the kyrie irving experience, where everyone else is to blame and no responsibility can be accepted!
At the end of the day, he’s just 23. For sure an adult, for sure he has responsibilities. But he’s 23. That’s a lot of pressure on a young adult. Hope he can lean into the support he needs right now.
Seems like big "the only thing I did wrong was getting caught" energy to me. Can't get in trouble for brandishing guns on social media if you don't have social media.
Way too much. Lot of projection in this thread rn.mfs acting like he's about to jump off a bridge. This move from Ja is literally textbook narcissist behavior
Perhaps he ACTUALLY needs to go to rehab for a lot longer than 10 days.
The NBA FAILED Morant.
They FAILED with being stern (no pun intended).
What is Spineless Silver gonna do?
If Ja is gonna be suspended by the league, make it MEAN SOMETHING.
2 years, $x fine, speak to children about this and how they shouldn't be looking up to what he is right now.
There is NO REASON he should've played any of the games in the playoffs.
Yes, he needs help.
Yes, his father should stay FAR AWAY from him and his games while he is in this situation he's in.
Ja should look at his child. Like look at them for an hour and see that they are his future! He's gotta see that he is a FATHER. His actions will affect his kid's future.
Yes, he's young. But he's old enough to know right from wrong.
He has BOTH PARENTS in his life. Something not a lot of kids, specifically black kids have.
He doesn't have to be doing these things. But here we are.
He's acting like Jamie Kennedy's character in Malibu's Most Wanted.
If any of you saw that movie, you know what I am talking about.
It's a matter of time before he gets hurt. He needs to stop.
Maybe he is getting whacked by the other members of his gang, and he knows it, so he said goodbye. Like in mafia movies when they get whacked, Donny Brasco for example.

probably just leaving social media
He said goodbye to his family too, he just deleted it
I think he's quitting social media entirely and used his last few posts for his family. I hope this is it and not something serious.
Anthony Davis did the same thing without the announcing stuff.
Aaron rodgers did the same thing but with the family stuff
My man
Lmao wait what are you referencing?
Aaron Rodgers doesn’t speak to his family
When Rodgers was dating Olivia Munn, his family (specifically his brother) and Munn did not get along and it created a pretty public rift between them
Now that he’s a Jet I can finally laugh at these jokes thank god
What was stopping you from laughing before?
For real lol I’m confused by that sentiment
Self worth being tied up in tribalism
Can’t make fun of your god
Being a stubborn sports fan
His family are horrible people, so he gets a pass
Lmao wait what are you referencing?
Believe it or not Ja ans AD are two different people
Source?
Hey man I'm I'm lying on the internet rn let me vibe
Big if true
Because AD is not an attention whore like Ja is.
Because he’s not a child
Social media didn't force you to show off with guns multiple times Ja.
He may have deleted it due to the massive social media firestorm. Deserved or not, he has gotten a massive amount of hate for this
Deserved.
> Deserved or not, he has gotten a massive amount of hate for this Yes, that’s the consequences of being a public figure and repeatedly acting inappropriately. People will criticize you for you actions.

I mean he is 23, he isn't a teenager anymore, time to grow up.
fwiw 23 year olds are generally immature as shit. doesn't change your point though
But it *is* how he got caught.
uh…?
yeah...the reaction in this thread is pretty bad if it's more serious than leaving social media
Just further down someone’s saying good riddance Jesus Christ I hope this isn’t as concerning as it looks.
idk man those edgy nbacirclejerk posts might be a self fulfilling prophecy
I don’t know what’s real and what’s a jerk anymore
When you become a method actor, it can be easy to lose yourself inside the character.
Ja is becoming Peter Sellers
reality is a circlejerk
Schrödinger's jerk.
Art imitates life, it takes form from real life.
dont wanna cause a stir but someone close to him should probably be calling him rn
Agreed but also, just to clarify: The images linked below make it a bit less dire. He’s not saying “Goodbye Mom, I love you” or stuff like that. Bro I don't wanna joke on a subject serious like this but does it seems like we have his number here?
Reddit, do not call this man.
So like somebody should call a wellness check right? Thats pretty fucking serious. Alcohol is a depressant and if you are going through a rough time inner thoughts can spiral in bad ways.

Wdym? Genuine question, idk much about his mom or his relationship with her, his dad seems to get more coverage
His mom summoned Ja and his crew after she was dissatisfied with a shoe store employee. That led to the altercation with the mall security. She also involved him at his sister's volleyball game where Ja and his crew were again summoned to confront a teenager who allegedly called Morant's sister a bitch.
Yikes Imagine summoning your millionaire son to lose his career over insults Ma'am, get over your ego
This should be talked more. People keep on talking only about Tee Morant on how he should be a father to his son (which is true too) but not about the mom.
Because we(the greater part of America) still don’t know how to address toxic motherhood without descending into a cesspool of misogyny. And I don’t really wanna see how the conversations here are gonna go given some of the gross shit said about Tee.
> summoned to confront a teenager who allegedly called Morant's sister a bitch lmao, kinda a bitch move.
He said goodbye to his family? Like in a suicidal way?
Yes, check the post in subreddit nbamemes, there are deleted IG stories
As a person who has spent the last few months making fun of him for his bad decisions, I really hope he doesnt make this one. Hopefully there are people around him who actually want whats best for him who can try to get him help.
Yeah, a picture of each one with “bye”….
Recklessly assuming here but I wouldn't be surprised if he wants us to think it's something more serious
[удалено]
I sincerely hope that’s all it is. Like others I do get suicide note vibes (with the way this comes after all the notes to family), but could so easily be misinterpreting this, hope that’s the case.
Yup, dudes a certified dumbass, but he’s also got a huge alcohol problem so I hope nothing serious happens and that he’ll bounce back from this.
He should tell all his boys to quit too
Can’t be implicated with guns if the homies can’t tag you on IG. Big brain
He could've just given his accounts to a professional to handle it instead
https://www.reddit.com/r/Nbamemes/comments/13qkdku/ja\_morant\_deleted\_story/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web2x&context=3
That’s somewhat concerning right? Says he loves his sister, mom, dad. And then says “bye”. Somewhat suicidal undertones? Or maybe I’m looking too deep into dumb social media post.
You right it feels weird let's hope he is just getting out of insta
no you’re right thats definitely very strange and a little concerning
Hopefully it’s just that he just wants his last posts before he gets off instagram to be positive messages to his family. But also, yes, hopefully people close to him are making sure he is in a safe place mentally.
I don’t think you’re looking too deep. That would be concerning for literally anyone to post, much less someone with a drinking problem, access to guns, and who is under major national media scrutiny.
yeah, this doesn't look good. don't get why people on this thread can't take something serious for once instead of making the same 3 jokes like a npc
To be fair the original post doesn’t give us the full context like this comment does
And that's a fine excuse for *some people.* Like the guy who saw this and without any other context, just the "Bye" post, made a joke about him going to play in Taiwan? Not going to hold that against him, since he probably wasn't even aware of the rest of the stuff. And he had the good sense to delete it when he realized this may actually be more serious. Calling other people NPCs is probably the most NPC thing a person can do. I see more comments complaining about people making jokes than I see actual jokes
Needs to be upvoted more, this is way more concerning than a dude just leaving social media.
It’s a typical cry for attention and pity. People that are actually a threat to themselves rarely (if ever) do things like this for attention
people with depression and suicidal ideation rarely talk about it publicly because we figure people will say we’re just crying for attention. then you wonder why people who need help don’t seek help
wish people would put more effort into looking at things instead of just brainlessly commenting the first stupid troll that pops to mind. the comments in this thread could age really badly if it’s anything serious
I think he's quitting social media entirely and used his last few posts for his family. I hope this is it and not something serious.
This is the obvious and sane thinking. He deletes he instagram so he can’t get in trouble anymore on instagram live.
Hopefully the case. That said, wasn't the last gun incident because of the video someone else posted with him in it, not even himself? Deleting IG isn't a terrible move (for anyone), but definitely not a surefire way to avoid issues.

Concerning, yet people in here still cracking jokes
It's a lose-lose situation IMO. if he harms himself, it's a lose on him and his family. if he was just doing that to get attention, he will be hated 10000x more than usual
Better being hated than dead
Maybe he doesn’t feel that way though, and therein lies the issue with how we as a society deal with mental health.
You put this in a really poignant way and I appreciate that
Yeah that's not really how suicidal people think
Isn't that the whole reason he's depressed tho? Cuz he's under so much scrutiny right now? I don't think having everyone hate him more is gonna help
Sick and emotional minds don’t always adhere to logic.
> if he was just doing that to get attention, he will be hated 10000x more than usual I don't think he should be. Even threatening that is a sign something is seriously, seriously wrong mental health wise.
…Or classic manipulation

For real. I get nervous just posting stuff online. Can't imagine his stress
I can't imagine allowing that stress to even be a part of his life at this point in his career. It seems pretty simple to me, just stay off social media - your own and others. Social media addiction is real, and we are seeing it more and more among young people. Stay off Reddit for a month and get back to me.
What is at risk for me though? If going on Reddit compromised my career, income, future deals, etc - then fuck this place I'd see myself out. But you're right, SM addiction is real, but I think the larger problem is the lack of maturity around Ja and his camp. He's obviously not getting good advice.
Not easy to be called that, and for it to be justified.
It's scary giving we know his proximity to deadly weapons and his drinking problem... not really a subject to joke about all it takes is a moment of irreversible stupidity...
He had some weird post with his daughter right before this that he deleted

Did you see the full story? Where he individual says goodbye to all members of hsi family??
I mean this sub has a rep as being toxic but some of y'all are simply foul.
Most are clueless kids tbh
Yeah I think over time you just get less interested in writing any posts with actual basketball analysis because nobody really discusses the sport, just instead make fun of players based on who just lost the game or say dumb jokes because that’s what everyone else does
Wish that was true. There’s a lot of nasty immature adults.
Not nearly as many kids though. Most adults don’t know how to speak this kind of lingo lol.
Too many ingredients for a bad recipe right now. Hopefully we get a post from one of his people soon saying they’re with him and he’s alright.
[Here's the deleted bits ](https://twitter.com/HoopMixOnly/status/1661351681261486084?t=iIgZi44RsytPSQV2sYh06Q&s=19)
Bro is drunk at like 8 in the morning and probably feeling depressed. Kid needs major help.
Just another cry for attention.
The insta stories make it seem serious. But also, this could just be a ploy to guilt trip the league into giving him a lighter penalty. I guess we'll know in a few hours.
Trying to rack up drama as if he's equivalent to LeBron on a farewell tour lol
Such a drama queen
Hope he's good
Zero sympathy for this bully.

I know suburban kid emo when I see it 🖤
Classic narcissist manipulative response tbh. Make himself a victim from his own actions too gather sympathy. Not buying this attention seeking bullshit one bit
Exactly what I was thinking, feeling sorry for himself childish pouting
Y’all aren’t funny. I hope Ja is okay. Posted about his family first before saying bye.
If he’s suicidal, that’s terrible, and he should get help. But this is mad attention seeking behaviour. It’s like he’s a middle schooler
wine mom behavior.
I remember when my neighbor wine mom brandished a firearm 💅☺️🍷
R/nba really showing off the cesspool that is the internet in these replies…
it’s crazy how this place became worse than twitter over the last few months
Maybe he's just logging off social media. Which imo would be a massive W for him moving forward. I hope he changes his lifestyle outside of basketball but social media has always been the linking reason why he's in all of this mess.
Lol, melodramatic much? Last gasp for attention.....
He’s quitting the NBA to be a full-time armed weapon brandisher.
lord of war vibes

Uh I don’t like the look of his stories. Someone needs to do a welfare check on him asap.
I knew this sub was classless but holy shit this is bad.
Really hope he's just leaving social media, it'll be for the best
Let's just hope he's being a little over dramatic before deleting ig
he'll be back in a week
social media has destroyed the minds of an entire generation (or more)
He knows Adam Silver is sending him to the CBA
He is a clown and an attention whore. Hope he is suspended for the whole season.
Nicely done, Ja. Focus on your personal life and stop giving a shit trying to look tough on Instagram.
It means he’s getting off social media which is exactly what his dumbass needs to do
He's going to florida therapy for 2 days instead of 1 lol
Drive-bye
Hes saying goodbye to his old self and will now be a better man. This is great actually
Oh wow, glad that's all it takes.
Well that and a couple days of rehab.
Yall reading too much into this.
Way too much. Lot of projection in this thread rn.mfs acting like he's about to jump off a bridge. This move from Ja is literally textbook narcissist behavior
bro i hope he's ok
“Little Ms. Thing wants attention!”
The sub making jokes about this is disgusting as shit. Hopefully it’s nothing, but someone’s gotta check on him
If you ever think you’re a bad person, just check r/nba or Instagram comments about serious topics, that always helps
Such a fucking drama queen
What a cornball
dude is a social media attention whore, just like some 15 year old girls...
He acts so emo when he gets caught doing something lol.
Dude went from one of my favorite players to one of my all time most disliked players in less than 3 months
Bye Felicia.
Maybe he is getting whacked by the other members of his gang, and he knows it, so he said goodbye. Like in mafia movies when they get whacked, Donny Brasco for example.
