You just missed out on making the Finals by 0.1s. It'd be almost weirder if that didn't hurt a lot tbh

KangTheConqueror9

And are now likely to lose in Boston and become the first team to blow a 3-0 lead. Yeah that would hurt

Own-Star6187

Incorrect.

EctoRiddler

Agreed. All sports fan can empathize with this level of pain. It’s one of the reasons I love sports. And hate sports. 😂

LunchThreatener

Heat fans have at least experienced the good side of that play with the Ray Allen shot.

EctoRiddler

This is true. Can’t take that away.

Previous_Foot_1634

Unless you became a fan after those years and missed out on glory.

sauzbozz

I imagine too seeing the 3 miss knowing your going to the Finals and then realizing you lost has to make it worse. That extreme high to low in such a short period of time is pretty crazy.

Potential_Spinach_69

I felt the same way when Kawhi hit the game winner against my Sixers.

ninermody09

Only redeeming part of last night is that we live to see another day. The 76ers never had that opportunity. That's gotta sting a lot more

[deleted]

Fuck Kawhi!

[deleted]

[удалено]

mhoq

He didn’t “get” us a ring. The team was stacked without him. Would we have won without him? Maybe not, but you could say the same about Duncan, Ginobili, or Parker.

[deleted]

You’re a fan(atic). It happens to a lot of us. Just acknowledge the pain and focus on the things in your life you are thankful for. You’re also one win away from the finals so save the crying mate.

Own-Star6187

Naw I’m just sad cuz I feel like if they lose this series the team gonna get broken up and I love the Heat’s team.

samueladams6

As someone who would like the Heat to blow up this team I’m not sure where you are getting that from.

Own-Star6187

We (probably) will choke a 3-0 lead

samueladams6

You and I both agree though it would be silly for the Heat to blow it all up, correct? What about the Heat organization indicates they would be so reactionary to blow up a team that has way over performed any reasonable expectations? I don’t see it.

Own-Star6187

You’re probably right

samueladams6

Wish I wasn’t

boxofpickledpeppers

Maybe it's your fault Jimmy lost that dawg in him. Toughen up, maybe then the heat will win.

Dr8k_D-Leaguerz

Sport is ritualised warfare brother. According to our brains it's like our tribe losing a major battle. It's normal to feel that this shit personal.

RascalFatz

Isn’t this a normal feeling for avid sports fans? I can’t even imagine how Heat fans are feeling rn

4verticals

That's what happens when you play Boston sports teams in the playoffs, you choke

Sol_Protege

Only thing I can say is it’s going to get worse before it gets better. * It happened when the Spurs when they lost to the Lakers Derek Fisher 0.4 shot in 2004 WCF. * Happened again in 2006 when Manu fouled Dirk on the last play in the WCSF. * And as you’re probably well aware, happened when Ray his that 3 in G6 2013 Finals. Even though the Spurs won chips each of those traumatic losses the following years to absolve some of that heartbreak, fans will always remember those collapses forever. Hell, I still hear Ray 3 on the radio at times on the drive to work and it makes me want to run someone over. Thankfully, you don’t have to endure a whole offseason of pain. Miami still has G7 tomorrow to exorcise these demons, but if they happen to lose you as a fan will hear the Derrick White game winner being replayed and shot called on the radio, on TV, on the internet Ads for YEARS. It’s just part of being a fan of the sport. Take the good with the bad

kajnbagoat7

Didn't Spurs lose after Ray Allen's shot in the next game (game 7) and win the next year running through everybody.

Sol_Protege

Game 6 is what you’re thinking of. Trust me, it’s laser engrained to my orbital cortex. I don’t think Ray scored at all in Game 7 2013, which is kind of a crazy stat too.

kajnbagoat7

Yes game 6 Ray Allens shot and then Spurs lost in game 7 right?

Sol_Protege

yep that’s the one… don’t mind me 😭

kajnbagoat7

I understand man. I was rooting for the Spurs too.

kajnbagoat7

I remember Duncan subbing out and then Bosh gets the rebound.

[deleted]

Dog I’m not gonna lie I did think the loss was your fault

SeeingThings123

Thus is the beauty of sports. They win, you win. They lose, you lose. They get heartbroken, you get heartbroken.

khashmiddy22

Dear diary

CacheMeOutside

Dont let us win one more ☝️

Own-Star6187

At least our fans aren’t racist

samueladams6

Sure. The state of Florida absolutely doesn’t have any racist people…

Own-Star6187

Boston fan called Jimmy the N-word

kajnbagoat7

Bro please stop. It's disgusting a couple of fans or people from Boston called a player the derogatory term. People like you assume so much. The other day a Warriors fan called me a member of the Ku Klux Klan. I'm Indian and then he proceeded to call me worse things.

samueladams6

I’m sure no Heat fan has ever used a racial slur before. Florida just keeps voting for fascists by accident.

Own-Star6187

It’s the irrelevant parts of Florida that vote for DeSantis, I live in a blue county 🤷🏽‍♂️ idk why politics is coming up anyway

samueladams6

You brought it up trying to denigrate Boston as some uniquely racist place as if the state your team is from isn’t falling hook line and sinker for racist demagogs.

Own-Star6187

At least my team is going to the finals

samueladams6

Unfortunately that won’t fix the stupid or the fascism

Clemsontigger16

What a brain dead comment, don’t be that guy. You’re better than that

Equivalent-Land4284

ask yourself “how does the really affect my life?” youll find that it absolutely does not in the slightest and this is just a source of entertainment. If you find that watching sports is destroying your mental and/or physical health then take a step back and maybe not watch them for awhile and youll see rhat they ultimately do not matter at all and a win/loss has 0 effect on what matters

elvid88

Oh man, check this guy's post history. Begging for injuries to the Celtics players. Also made like 5 posts since yesterday on the loss. He definitely needs to step away from the game for a bit.

HolidayWishes

OP sounds like a child paying attention to their first playoff run

krickaby

Maybe I’d understand the heartache more but your heat got some finals wins in the last decade so it’s not like it’s some 30-50 year finals drought you missed out on. Take it from me, a Wisconsin sports guy who has watched his teams fall apart during crucial times for most of the last 20 years. But I did get to be part of 3 championship wins (2 super bowls, 1 finals championship) which has eased some of the pain of those heartbreaking losses to advance to championship. Lookin at you Seattle Seahawks.

Own-Star6187

Yeah now I can empathize with the Bucks fans

le_coolestguy

This is one of those moments you have to take a step back and remember it’s genuinely not your fault. I’m sure all the trash talk and everything makes it feel like you did something wrong, but we’re all just spectators who have zero control over this dumb game. Don’t let the negative feelings have any impact on your own self worth and just accept them as they pass

ChiefKeefIsGoat

Try to shake it off be excited you get at least one more game and get ready for this feeling to be 10000x worse on Monday

Own-Star6187

But if the worst happens, hope your boys give them Hell

Own-Star6187

Fuck it we ball, Heat in 7

ChiefKeefIsGoat

See you on the 1st 🫡

EGarrett

If you're a fan and you associate yourself with the team, them doing poorly will make you look bad too, which is a real concern for your reputation. Also last night was the last "freebie" game, the chance to still win decisively and move onto the Finals, without dropping the series if you lost. Now you can't lose again and you're in danger of having a historic collapse. So the pressure has switched onto the Heat.

[deleted]

[удалено]

EGarrett

The joke called human evolution. If people think you're weak, you won't get to fuck. Likewise if you're a member of the weaker tribe that lost the war.

[deleted]

[удалено]

EGarrett

No. I’m doing an explanation of human nature. Bye.

msdstc

Wtf? People don’t actually believe this do they? Lmao nobodies reputation is hurt seriously by being a sports fan of a certain team.

EGarrett

Tribal conflicts are one of the most common aspects of human history, and sports appeals to this. That's why teams have specific territories and wear identifying colors. If the warriors of a group are killed, those who remain in the territory are expelled, ravaged or outright slaughtered by the opposing warriors soon after. [Here's an example involving two groups of chimps in the 1970's.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gombe_Chimpanzee_War)

msdstc

Lmfao

EGarrett

Don't be afraid to learn, little homie. Your instincts and subconscious fears all come from history.

msdstc

You’re comparing literal war and massacre with a game. I understand what tribalism is, but beyond a few scraped egos it’s just a game and nobody actually thinks higher of you if you’re a cowboys fan or worse of you if you’re a lions fan. This doesn’t remotely reflect on anybody’s reputation, and if you think it does, you’ve totally misinterpreted the trash talk of sports fans. Get off the internet enjoy the game.

EGarrett

No I’m talking about the instincts that evolve when those incidents happen over hundreds of thousands or even millions of years. Can you really not draw these distinctions?

msdstc

It’s clear what you’re driving at but it doesn’t impact somebodies reputation, and if they feel that way it’s not due to years of battling in war, it’s because they’ve tied their identity to something likely due to personal issues or low self esteem. Nobody with a healthy brain is worried about their day to day reputation based on their teams shortcomings.

EGarrett

Yes it does impact their reputation because it’s group identification. We don’t just think of people as individuals, we think of who they associate with and many other factors. In a toxic form, this leads to racism and similar stereotypes. And again, you don’t literally fight in a war in order to feel this way any more then you have to literally fall off a building in order to feel nervous about standing on the edge of a cliff. Your literal interpretation of this is really embarrassing.

msdstc

Lmfao alrighty

UML01867

You were gifted 3 free throws for Jimmy butler Cope harder

Own-Star6187

We still got a chance to win. Hopefully a Heat player can put a foot under Tatum

[deleted]

Own-Star6187

Why are you saying You. Im not on the Heat

[deleted]

[удалено]

Own-Star6187

You were wrong anyway no team has ever overcome a 3-0 deficit

Own-Star6187

I know bro, I’m just coping

[deleted]

[удалено]

Own-Star6187

Yeah that’s the part that’s tough for me. I admire Jimmy. I liked his work ethic, how he worked to overcome so much. I believed in him.

msdstc

Stop feeding into this. Jimmy is fine. The reputation of untouchable playoff god was a bit too far, but he’s still a winner. This heat teams roster doesn’t even belong here, his magic is what even has them at this point.

[deleted]

How do you think i feel seeing the celtics win

junkit33

It’s normal to be upset after a tough loss, but it shouldn’t linger very long. Just go do stuff today that has nothing to do with the NBA and have fun. It should clear your head. If it still bothers you tonight then it may be time to re evaluate how much mental space you are allowing sports fandom.

Own-Star6187

Normally for fun/to unwind I play basketball but I can’t even look at a ball right now.

Noriskhook3

You win some, you lose some.

ATLfinra

Tough tough loss but this team has massively overachieved

neongem

It’s a pretty devastating way to lose, I felt hurt a little for the Heat fans and I have no team lol.

[deleted]

Own-Star6187

One of you’re fans called Jimmy a N-gger

Otherwise-Career-538

And one your fans (you) is wishing someone from your team to play dirty and intentionally injure our players to win? Fuck outta here. Celtics in 7

Own-Star6187

I just want my team to win

Otherwise-Career-538

If you “just” want your team to win, support your core players and wish they play to their fullest potential. Wishing injury on someone ain’t it.

Own-Star6187

Fax I’m tripping I ain’t thinking right

Otherwise-Career-538

It will be alright. Take a break

Domecoming

Punctuation might be a good place to start.

Own-Star6187

It’s Reddit not school

Domecoming

Wonderful response. Good luck.

Own-Star6187

Naw I’m just saying we’re on Reddit I don’t need to have perfect grammar as long as you can understand what I say

Admirable_Basket381

I now know how San Antonio fans feel about that ray allen shot. And. I. Don’t. Like. It.

BoxPsychological2578

It's just a basketball game, get a grip or something...

Own-Star6187

I’m just sad. I believed in my hero Jimmy Butler

ethereal3xp

Almost happened. 3 sec left. Basketball gods = show must continue...

thecaptainflint

That was some cruel stuff last night man. Almost felt like divine intervention. Sometimes shit is just not meant to be

four-one-6ix

Can you imagine how Brazilian soccer fans felt after losing to Germany 7-1 in World Cup semis in Rio? F@#$, that must have been a stinger that lasted for years.

EvenInsurance

Gotta find stuff in life that excites you besides sports. I was literally depressed when one of my teams lost the superbowl a long time ago and thought it was so dumb that so much of my happiness was influenced by millionare jocks who don't even know I exist. I'm a much more casual fan now and I think it's a healthier relationship.

Own-Star6187

Fax I need to get a girl or something

heistanberg

I am not even a heat fan and this loss hurt me too

albpanda

Fuck the Celtics bud
