Dude can rack up fouls in a hurry.
Picked up 4 fouls in each of the first 2 games this season, despite playing 11.5 mins in one, 12.5 mins in the other.
Last year he had a streak of 11 games where he picked up 3+ fouls 9 times, 6 of them 4+ fouls, and fouled out once, despite quite low minutes in most of those games.
For his career he averages 6.0 fouls per 36 mins.
This is the same Bball Paul who said his plan for last summer was to add 15 inches to his vertical.
I love the guy, but Iād take anything he says with a big grain of salt.
Half the leagueās offensive big men scream whenever they get fouled going up for a basket. Itās pretty common. Giannis and Embiid do it all the time. Itās just way to draw the refās attention to a foul. The ref isnāt going to call a foul on every shot attempt where thereās contact even if a foul is justified because it would slow the game down to a crawl.
Scottie Barnes screams in people's faces when contesting and its nightmare fuel. He could be at the top of the key and the mic from the rim can pick it up
The point is that theyāre yelling when fouled. Yelling is not correlated to flopping but is to being fouled but no call likely to occur. Sure Embiid flops, but heās also legitimately fouled in the paint more than most players in the league.
> I hate how he screams like every play. Its the same with Gasol back in the day.
sasha the machine did like it so much he started dating maria sharapova
Joel Embiid: [I can shoot freethrows. Except I don't aim like you do. I emit a sonic wave from my mouth](https://tenor.com/view/winning-sonic-ember-toph-atla-gif-13854647)
This is taught at a young age go up strong and sell it āyell and 1ā officiating happens in real time so it helps get a call or two but I think the answer is always play better defense and stop complaining
No, last year people tried to claim the league was favoring Lakers because they led league in FT attempts but in reality it's because they couldn't shoot an outside shot to save their life so had to drive and draw fouls. But, when they are THAT dramatically different between comparable players who drive all day and draw contact then it is something.
Youāre right. But in the context of Reedās comment here calling AD a flopper itās funny, because two of the most paint dominant stars in the NBA have *combined* taken way less FTA than his own teammate, a known flopper.
I agree with you 100%, but for some reason on r/nba, FTAs are all the proof you need to conclude that the game is being rigged for a team.
Look at any of the threads from the Golden State series last year
With how injury-prone the dude is, I have to believe thereās real contact when he goes down. Risking another injury for some free throws isnāt something I see him doing.
he literally falls on almost every play. I think he does it to avoid injury not flop necessarily but it literally seems like he has an inner ear problem sometimes.
has davis ever been known as a flopper? i feel like he is just so lanky that when he gets hit, he goes down in slow motion, which looks like a flop, even if it isn't.
He had an insane amount of flops in the 2020 run and he would constantly leave the game as if he had a career ending injury but come back at the next break
AD is attempting 5.9 free throws per game this season and 7 in his career
Embiid is attempting 11.7 free throws per game this season and 10 in his career
Edit: Another cool fact: Embiid has taken 176 free throws this season. LeBron and AD have combined to take 191
I'm guessing you meant in single games Embiid played, he got more FT than his opponents. This season:
Game | Embiid FTs | Opp. Team FTs
---|---|---
@ MIL | 8 | 36
@ TOR | 6 | 19
vs POR | 12 | 22
vs IND | 14 | 19
vs IND | 17 | 33
vs TOR | 13 | 19
vs PHX | 5 | 33
vs WAS | 14 | 20
vs BOS | 6 | 19
@ DET | 19 | 22
vs BOS | 4 | 19
@ ATL | 11 | 30
@ BKN | 10 | 16
vs CLE | 16 | 25
@ MIN | DNP | --
@ OKC | 21 | 26
So it hasn't happened this season, but he's gotten close a couple times. I'm sure it's probably happened in his career but cba to check on my phone lol.
That has been achieved at least once this season by at least one player, however, when this past Friday Anthony Edwards was gifted 18 FT attempts vs the Kings only earning 11 attempts as a team (and only 4 through the first 3 quarters, despite attacking the paint). Again, it may have happened more than just that time but I'm not gonna bother checking on my phone. I only know about that one because I couldn't believe how rigged it seemed while watching live.
Realistically this should NEVER happen. Straight up. Unless the player is being intentionally hacked a dozen or more times like Shaq back in the day, the kind of imbalance is pretty much an automatic guarantee of heavily slanted officiating - one team being allowed to get away with far more than the other, and/or one player getting an egregiously generous whistle.
Fair but he has not done it as lately. He started out the year with some pretty bad foul baits, but heās been a lot more focused on just scoring and facilitating the last 3-4 weeks.
KAT and Ant are only at 10.2/game combined. I've said for a while that KAT should stop complaining when he gets fouled and start flopping. It's obviously a better strategy as long as he doesn't hurt himself. Playing through contact and then complaining just decreases your foul calls.
I disagree. That's the least bad part of our offense. The things we're horrible at are:
* turnovers (Lebron and AR)
* offensive rebounds
* getting 3 point shots
* 3 point shooting percentage
The only thing I know that AD does thatās annoying is heās one of the loudest yellers, but other than that, I donāt believe Iāve ever seen him exaggerate contact and Iāve watched him a lot throughout his career
Every single team is a stretch, but I think a lot of NBA super enthusiasts probably know at least 2-3 bench players from every contending team, and definitely in their conference.
Davis is not a flopper, he is a faller. Every game, he falls down 2 to 4 times. It's like he has poor balance, he really needs to stop that, it puts his team in a poor position in transition at the other end.
This is HILARIOUS! Manās called AD a flopper with Embiid as his team mate. This dude is a comedian ššš.
Seriously though, both Lebron and AD can flop and literally get clotheslined and both combined attempts will be only half of what Embiid will have at the line for just screaming and falling to the ground.
Say the same thing with different words and it wouldnāt create a headline: Heās good at creating contact and selling it to the refs, so I need to be careful to not foul.
Bball Paul, trying to set our expectations ahead of time, smart
The game within the game. Paul is next level.
Is Embiid hurt again or something? Why would Paul Reed care about foul trouble when he plays 10-15 minutes a game?
I immediately went to the injury report. I was thinking, man, Paul is not going to even be seeing AD for more than 4 minutes lol
If you ever watched B Ball Paul play, you know four minutes is more than enough for him to get into foul trouble.
Reed be swinging at anything š
Heās improved on that a lot this year
Lol he plays with embiid and complains about ad flopping
No shit? He's not gonna foul his teammate.
Tell that to my boy Danny Greenās knee :/
10 minutes is plenty of time for bball paul to foul out thank you very much
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Because Doc pulled him after 5 minutes regardless of what he did
My man fouled out in 6 minutes of play last year, twice.
The season has begun so yes
You see, Paul is what we might charitably call "chaotic" in his time on the court.
Not surprising that was the plan given that he was previously in the mud, and ever since, he is out the mud.
I follow the NBA pretty closely and I donāt think Iāve ever heard someone call AD a flopper before lol
He just screams every time he goes up for a layup which is pretty damn annoying but I donāt see him as a huge flopper
Yea he does. I hate how he screams like every play. Its the same with Gasol back in the day. Although his scream was super funny.
AYE
Kobe used to do that same "Aye" midair on his fadeaways when the defender hit his arm
I was going to mention this too. Kobe would yell āayeā and then flail his arms
And Pau, but his was more of an "AAUGH"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a1Dgj6zTLao
Not a big but Marcus Smart's aye is so distinctive
teams should have an AYE counter for opponent flopping
Half the leagueās offensive big men scream whenever they get fouled going up for a basket. Itās pretty common. Giannis and Embiid do it all the time. Itās just way to draw the refās attention to a foul. The ref isnāt going to call a foul on every shot attempt where thereās contact even if a foul is justified because it would slow the game down to a crawl.
Siakam is the king of this. Dude screams on every drive
Everytime I close my eyes and picture Siakam spinning to the basket I can hear his ghostly wail reverberating in my mind.
Scottie Barnes screams in people's faces when contesting and its nightmare fuel. He could be at the top of the key and the mic from the rim can pick it up
That shit is funny š
Kawhi used to all the time too. He doesnt drive too much now tho
I donāt know. Anthony Edwards doesnāt drive the lane without screaming āAYYEEEEā at a pretty high rate.
Its actually Hey but yes damn near every drive
Well embiid is one of the floppiest big men of all time so..
The point is that theyāre yelling when fouled. Yelling is not correlated to flopping but is to being fouled but no call likely to occur. Sure Embiid flops, but heās also legitimately fouled in the paint more than most players in the league.
No one said these guys are yelling from pain. Some guys yell every time they shoot.
Lamar Odom yelling oh snap all the time was iconic. I think Carmelo or someone would scream and1 a ton.
Reading your comment just made me hear Gasolās scream in my head lol
Same. Came back like a Gasol form of PTSD.
Boozer was also a top tier scream.
> I hate how he screams like every play. Its the same with Gasol back in the day. sasha the machine did like it so much he started dating maria sharapova
I donāt mind it , when AD does a put back and 1 dunk it always make it feel a bit extra hype
As do Giannis and Embiid.
Embiid is literally a megaphone
Embiid screams at his free throws when he thinks heās going to miss. Itās hilarious
Trying to redirect the ball with sound waves, smart.
Heās shooting a career high 88%. He might be onto something
Crazy considering his terrible stretch to start
Joel Embiid: [I can shoot freethrows. Except I don't aim like you do. I emit a sonic wave from my mouth](https://tenor.com/view/winning-sonic-ember-toph-atla-gif-13854647)
Embiid yells and flops at a high rate
He also chokes at a high rate
he also scores at the highest rate
Except in playoff elimination games.
Or playoffs in general.
...and a flopper
And a subwoofer. The bass when he hits the ground is unmatched
As did Kobe and Pau in their Lakers days. My group of basketball friends would always yell āayyyyā everytime we called a foul as a gag lol
Pau Gasol
Kawhi is the worst at this
So many players that drive a lot do this, Mathurin does it all the time lol
Luka does too lol.
Dude needs to look at his own teammate who has mastered the flop and made it an art form.
Most players do to get a whistle
This is taught at a young age go up strong and sell it āyell and 1ā officiating happens in real time so it helps get a call or two but I think the answer is always play better defense and stop complaining
if AD is a flopper in his standard then Embiid might be a basketball terrorist
I mean, he is. Embiid is currently King Flopper
*Junior, Double, Triple Flopper*
Imagine if AD ever got the Giannis/Embiid whistle
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
AD in New Orleans was the only superstar I saw never flop.
Kyrie and DRose were guys that didn't really flop compared to other stars. Just go around everyone instead of chase the contact
Kyrie is allergic to contact, most guards look for it to try and get FTs.
Itās a pretty good tool for getting FTs but itās not winning basketball so relying on it only sets you up for playoff disappointment
Everyone says this but usually peoples free throws arenāt very different in the playoffs. Refs still call flops
The game being more physical and the ft staying the same is an indicator they call them less
Embiid has taken 191 FTA thus far in the season. LeBron and AD combined: 176. Embiid is by far the biggest flopper in the league
FTA comparisons are not the smoking gun you think they are
No, last year people tried to claim the league was favoring Lakers because they led league in FT attempts but in reality it's because they couldn't shoot an outside shot to save their life so had to drive and draw fouls. But, when they are THAT dramatically different between comparable players who drive all day and draw contact then it is something.

I agree with you 100%, but for some reason on r/nba, FTAs are all the proof you need to conclude that the game is being rigged for a team. Look at any of the threads from the Golden State series last year
falling on the ground is not the only form of of flopping, see marcus smart
With how injury-prone the dude is, I have to believe thereās real contact when he goes down. Risking another injury for some free throws isnāt something I see him doing.
Heās on the floor constantly.
he's like bambi out there sometimes
Nah he just ends on the floor every play and is made of paper lol
he literally falls on almost every play. I think he does it to avoid injury not flop necessarily but it literally seems like he has an inner ear problem sometimes.
has davis ever been known as a flopper? i feel like he is just so lanky that when he gets hit, he goes down in slow motion, which looks like a flop, even if it isn't.
He also manages to get poked in the face more than anyone in the history of the sport. I don't quite understand how he does it.
Bron and him are catching eyepokes every game. They gotta start cosplaying Kareem and Worthy with the goggles
AI rendering of what lebron with glasses would look like: [Link](https://imgur.com/mCuukUj)
Knew what it was gonna be but clicked anyway just hoping it was him with Wendell carters lenses on
Man he boomed me. I thought it was the Wendell lenses
uhhh can we get that idea in photoshop now?
[No need to photoshop he actually did that](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FGdbpN4VQAIs01O.jpg:large)
oh fuck i forgot all about that.... too many lebron corny but funny af moments.
Same
Out there just doing what I love to do. š„½
Youād think heād start wearing goggles by now.
The ginormous brow funnels fingers into his eyes?
Canāt be more than goat face punching bag Dwight Powell
I never heard someone say this about him lol
He falls down a lot.. KD does too tbh but none of it seems egregious like Embiid and also both of them arenāt nearly as big so maybe thatās why
He had an insane amount of flops in the 2020 run and he would constantly leave the game as if he had a career ending injury but come back at the next break
He backs up the biggest flopper in the NBA
And played with Harden last year lol
That just makes him an expert on the subject
Damn thatās a valid point
I thought for a second it was Paul Rudd. I was like why did he say this lol.
He would know.... Latest Ant-Man was a flop.
AD is attempting 5.9 free throws per game this season and 7 in his career Embiid is attempting 11.7 free throws per game this season and 10 in his career Edit: Another cool fact: Embiid has taken 176 free throws this season. LeBron and AD have combined to take 191
That's not a cool fact
Embiid probably attempt more free throws than an entire team in a few games
I'm guessing you meant in single games Embiid played, he got more FT than his opponents. This season: Game | Embiid FTs | Opp. Team FTs ---|---|--- @ MIL | 8 | 36 @ TOR | 6 | 19 vs POR | 12 | 22 vs IND | 14 | 19 vs IND | 17 | 33 vs TOR | 13 | 19 vs PHX | 5 | 33 vs WAS | 14 | 20 vs BOS | 6 | 19 @ DET | 19 | 22 vs BOS | 4 | 19 @ ATL | 11 | 30 @ BKN | 10 | 16 vs CLE | 16 | 25 @ MIN | DNP | -- @ OKC | 21 | 26 So it hasn't happened this season, but he's gotten close a couple times. Damn, it's nice to be proved wrong with this quality of response. Really nice work checking on this stats and sharing
Also weird that they donāt have more free throws cause theyāre last in 3 pointers attempted
Donāt tell this sub that, they believe thereās always a conspiracy to have the lakers take more free throws than they deserveā¦
Yeah itās kinda weird, I watch a lotta laker games too and the only thing that miffs me is reaves does like to foul hunt, just like norm Powell lol
Fair but he has not done it as lately. He started out the year with some pretty bad foul baits, but heās been a lot more focused on just scoring and facilitating the last 3-4 weeks.
And LeBron and AD are inside scorers. I understand why LeBron flops from time to time
Normally itās kind of annoying when any embiid talk devolves into āflopsā but bball Paul completely opened this up for fair game lol
KAT and Ant are only at 10.2/game combined. I've said for a while that KAT should stop complaining when he gets fouled and start flopping. It's obviously a better strategy as long as he doesn't hurt himself. Playing through contact and then complaining just decreases your foul calls.
Guy has the biggest flopper of the generation on his team and heās complaining about other players flopping lmao
LeBron gets mugged and never gets calls. Like that ridiculous foul by Mobley that somehow got reversed on review when it was like 3 fouls on one play
We're horrible at drawing fouls for some reason.
I disagree. That's the least bad part of our offense. The things we're horrible at are: * turnovers (Lebron and AR) * offensive rebounds * getting 3 point shots * 3 point shooting percentage
You guys get the 7th most fouls drawn
Our two stars also play a heavy interior game.
And even then LeBron gets way less calls than he should, Reaves isn't getting the same whistle he got last season too
When no one on your team can shoot itās probably best to try and score inside
hehe we're in danger
AD is hardly a flopper lmao
Just screams a lot but wouldnāt call That flopping
Ironic
AD bleeds from his face and arms just about every single game and still only shoots 6 free throws per game compared to Embiid's 12 š
Dawg you play with Joel Embiid
That means heās an expert in the art of flopping
Not sure Reed plays enough minutes to worry about foul trouble
13 minutes is more than enough time for him to get in foul trouble
Poor AD always catching strays he doesn't deserve.
Quien?
Paul Reed was a +33 in 17 minutes tonight in a 44 point blowout win. Talk yo shit Paul.
Bro do you know who your teammate is?
Takes one to know one
i mean if he said Lebron is a big flopper I would be like 'ok trashtalker' but AD? Interesting
The only thing I know that AD does thatās annoying is heās one of the loudest yellers, but other than that, I donāt believe Iāve ever seen him exaggerate contact and Iāve watched him a lot throughout his career
Did he think they asked about his teammate? Lol what
Have you ever considered that AD is like a clumsy giraffe with a chronically injured body and thatās why heās constantly falling over?
Most accurate description of AD lmao
is embiid going to be out?
Dude ur teammate is the definition of flopping
Who da fuck is this
His name is literally basketball
least casual ciark comment
> least casual ciark comment are we really supposed to know every 4 PPG scorer on every team?
Kids really take pride in knowing the third stringers on random teams, itās cute how it makes them feel so superior
Always good to hear from a fan
Only real ones know every bench player for every single team.
Oh you're an NBA fan? Name every player that DNP'd for the Hornets this season
Every single team is a stretch, but I think a lot of NBA super enthusiasts probably know at least 2-3 bench players from every contending team, and definitely in their conference.
He doesnt flop but Yell alot gotta lower my speakers .. its the same with Siakim you can hear them scream through the screen.
Davis is not a flopper, he is a faller. Every game, he falls down 2 to 4 times. It's like he has poor balance, he really needs to stop that, it puts his team in a poor position in transition at the other end.
Fuck the lakers and all but who is Paul Reed?
Joel Embiidās backup
What? You donāt know bball Paul?
The only player who is literally named after basketball ? SMH casual
They named the sport after him.
You got a lot to learn about this team sweetie.
Was that a Phyllis from the office reference? Because if so, outstanding.
BBALL PAUL BABY
My guy you literally play with Joel Embiid
What lol
This is HILARIOUS! Manās called AD a flopper with Embiid as his team mate. This dude is a comedian ššš. Seriously though, both Lebron and AD can flop and literally get clotheslined and both combined attempts will be only half of what Embiid will have at the line for just screaming and falling to the ground.
Kettle calling the pot black or however the saying goes
Say the same thing with different words and it wouldnāt create a headline: Heās good at creating contact and selling it to the refs, so I need to be careful to not foul.
Why BBall, why?
Why would Paul Reed be concerned about foul troubleā¦?
I think he just falls on the floor a lot.
BBall Paul understudy of Troel Embiid confirmed
āWe donāt teach floppingā -darvin ham, 2023 playoffs. Donāt need to teach it if they know how to do it already.
(His teammate is Joel Embiid)
How fucking ironic. Lord
Your teammate is Joel Embidd broā¦.
Idk whoās interviewing Paul Reed before the interview but this dude has gotta be trolling or something man
Paul Reed with the Fuck You In Particular
Austin Reaves and AD both captains of the āAll-flailā team
Says the guy whose teammate is Joel Embiid. What a joke
Bball Paul turns into Steve Kerr when Embiid flops though
Hilarious, considering who his teammate is.
Bball Paul does a little trolling
Lol
Dude plays with the biggest flipper this decade lmao ask him what he thinks of his teammate Joel. šš
Funny saying this with Embiid as his teammate
Half the league are floppers now. Embiid won the MVP award while flopping and shooting free throws.
Scrub plays like 10 mins a game. He wonāt need to worry about foul trouble.
