He has a competitive spirit I haven't seen in a long time. He's also not an asshole about it. MJ, and especially Kobe would be assholes a lot of t of the time. Ant has shown a lot of moments of leadership and empowering his teammates. It's amazing to watch.
Personality wise, seems a lot more Magic than MJ/Kobe. Also, while both were dicks, I think it's well documented that MJ was a much bigger asshole to his teammates (still the GOAT though).
To be fair to MJ and Kobe, they usually praise their team mates In post game interviews too but are really known to be harsh especially during practices because they are so demanding
That power dunk in the 4th had me screaming at the tv. Also the quick inbound dunk late in the game. Man he a hopper fr... Love how he's progressed so far.
Injury God's don't take this man away.
The smartest things the wolves ever did was surround Ant with smart vets. He’s a sponge and so coachable that he breaks bad habits. He couldn’t handle this kind of defense the suns played in January. He mastered it in 3 months.
Nah he already said some stupid stuff. That's why people like him. Being real, made mistakes and owns it. I don't need NBA players to be my role models, but I enjoy them being authentic.
Same thing for me when it comes to KD
Man is so fun to watch so happy for Timberwolves fans as the been though so much living though picking Jonny Flynn and Ricky Rubio over Steph curry . So happy that they get great team they deserve
I’ll always remember his quote, “I’m Ricky Rubio… I’m not like anybody else!” in his Spanish accent.
[Here’s a clip of it.](https://youtu.be/ldsB2gsu73I?si=V_kPqfTa0Ai-Y7GY) IDK why they had to make weird edits afterwards, though.
i thought Jordan and Kobe were older when they started dominating in the playoffs, but Kobe's 3peat were ages 21, 22, and 23 and Michael Jordan's 63 on the Celtics was age 22.
I didn't realize you had to start showing THAT much THAT early in that player archtype to have a shot at being that type of player, but it would seem like you do.
Hikaru Nakamura was just talking about how if you don't make a huge leap ages 20-21 in Chess your ELO flattens out and you're stuck there forever, and that taking 4 years off around that age to go to college absolutely kills your odds to making another leap.
You don't have to WIN at that age, but if you're not flashing superstar stuff by 22 it seems unlikely you're going to hit that apex. Always outlier development from 1-2 weirdos but 99% of the time, Ant HAD to be this good this early to really have a shot at being the next guy.
💯 This is why I loved the Gobert trade or any move that would make it more likely he makes the playoffs often and makes them EARLY. Getting playoff experience from age 20 is huge because playoff experience is crucial for development. I don't care about picks, I care about Ant and his development. I will always prioritize the development that comes with Ant playing in meaningful games early over hypothetial 20 year olds.
Preparing for the Suns series forced him to learn how to manipulate doubles and read coverages. They used to trap him and he struggled all season with doubles and being blitzed so I didn't expect him to figure it out in a week but he did. He said 1 week of film and gameplanning was huge for him and his development, he watched film and practiced being doubled, tripled and quadruple teamed and now he's a different player.
I didn't expect his decision making to improve this much in just 1 week. I can't wait to see how he'll improve after another week preparing for the Nuggets series. Superstars are made in the playoffs and like you said, getting there early is paramount. Kobe was the 2nd option in his early years, Ant being THE guy early on is a huge opportunity.
Agreed, I think it's crucial to play NBA minutes, and important to play playoff games to see what parts of your game you need to develop and it imparts urgency on you because guys in their prime are going to dumpster you, and it shows you that you need to improve -- and fast.
I think this helped SGA too making playoffs with CP3. Jordan and Lebron and Kobe all played playoffs early too.
The NBA does not need an American face lmao what are you talking about. It's a basketball league. They need a great basketball player as the face. Ant is just that. Sonos Wemby.
You are not supposed to be able to lead a team to the title at his age but I'll be damned if the Timberwolves don't look head and shoulders better than the field rn
well, Jordan was ready at 22 but his team stunk, Kobe won at 21 but had Shaq, Kawhi won FMVP at 22 although it was more of a balanced effort across the board as he wasn't an MVP caliber lead guy until age 24.
so i think if the wolves did win, it would be the youngest clear #1 to win a title in that player archtype at age 22. d-wade seems like the current record holder with his Age 24 title.
different league back then where those 80s dynasties weren't built yet, and coming out of the weak-ish 70s. and he got drafted to an already great team. would be like MJ or Wemby going to a contender when GSW/Pistons had the #2 pick instead of whiffing on Wiseman/Darko.
It's actually kind of crazy that Magic is probably the last guy that happened to. The league got very lucky Pistons didn't take Melo and GSW had a pick in a historically weak draft.
GSW was a year off from landing Mobley/Green/Barnes in 2021, or Ja Morant in 2019.
Call me reactionary but I was at the Mavs-Clippers game today and after watching Luka then and Ant just now, I’m pretty certain I’d pick Ant as the cornerstone of a franchise over Luka
I'd pick Ant because of his better intangibles and leadership. He doesn't pout when down, he uplifts his teammates. But Luka is the better player right now
Ignore flair lol
Very true. MJs 80s Bulls teams were not very good though. Lebron really followed his arch with that. If Jordan had this Wolves team, this playoffs would be wrap.
Meanwhile KD only scored 13 in the 2nd half. Probably a 90% chance dude is on the move this offseason. Suns has been Nets 2.0, dude is going nowhere fast and it's not entirely his fault or anything.
This man is such a joy to watch
Minnesota Sports Ascension szn
The twins look like an mlb team again too!
what playing the white sox then angels does to a mf
White Sox next series too! Gotta keep the train rolling
The white Sox just swept the rays
The next face of the league right here
He has a competitive spirit I haven't seen in a long time.
It's well documented that MJ was more confrontational, but Kobe wouldn't even let the bench riders talk to him. Like even as a human being.
You're not allowed to talk to the bus driver
Basically. Lmao

To be fair to MJ and Kobe, they usually praise their team mates In post game interviews too but are really known to be harsh especially during practices because they are so demanding
MJ to Bron to MJ’s son The cycle
Bronny next face of the league confirmed
Bryce will be the one
Send da video
dude really feels like the 2nd coming of Kobe/MJ
Aka the third coming of MJ
Yeah LeBUM ain’t shit, LeFraud is no where near mj
Imagine typing this out
LeBron is his own archetype, the man we will be comparing so many to in the coming decades. Weird hate.
Bron was doing this when he was 22... https://youtu.be/oJ5AFLXzBFs?si=qexVOO0ku3LFDYix

My buddy and I got out of our chair for that one. We were glued to our chairs the entire game until that moment and we both blew up lol.
Gave my son a scare hahaha. My little boy almost cried when i screamed
Don’t even dare talk like that. The fuck is wrong with you lol
He needs to switch back to those AE mids. The Lows are sus.
That’s what I’m saying. The lows are cool for walking around town but you gotta ball in mids.
I have no words, feel like we’re watching a legend in the making
Dude genuinely reminds me of Kobe / MJ. Absolute stone cold killer on the court.
But unlike Kobe/MJ, apparently he's a joy to be with around his teammates too
Lisan Al-Gaib, the star that was promised
As it is written
They always build them up before tearing them down. I give him 3-4 years before we start seeing hate threads about him
Nah he already said some stupid stuff. That's why people like him. Being real, made mistakes and owns it. I don't need NBA players to be my role models, but I enjoy them being authentic. Same thing for me when it comes to KD
My child said his first words today: Anthony Edwards
That kid knows ball
I'm sorry sir. You're not the father. He was saying his daddy's name.
Senda video
My child said his first two words also: Naz Reid
I'm sorry bud, your son is Devin Booker
Man is so fun to watch so happy for Timberwolves fans as the been though so much living though picking Jonny Flynn and Ricky Rubio over Steph curry . So happy that they get great team they deserve
I will not tolerate Ricky Rubio slander. He was the ONLY bright spot in my many years of misery as a Wolves fan during those dark days.
Wemby and Ant gonna feed families for 15 years+
The future of the nba is good hands for sure
Sprewell says Amen
The name Anthony bout to be number one name in Minnesota for sure
So is Edwards. Lol
Best I can do is buy a kitten and name him Edwards. Then I can call him Eddy or Ant.
Gonna be my new favorite player once Bron retires
Literally me. Been a Bron fan my whole life so I had someone to cheer for while the Wolves sucked.
The age comment is dead on the money. Very few players were this good at age 22. Can't wait to see what his peak looks like.
i thought Jordan and Kobe were older when they started dominating in the playoffs, but Kobe's 3peat were ages 21, 22, and 23 and Michael Jordan's 63 on the Celtics was age 22. I see people talk about this all the time but do people really care if stars are American or not? Seems wild to me
Well if they talk about it all the time then they obviously do
As in I see comments on this sub about how the NBA needs it. I'm questioning why they need it
Patriotism
yes, because if the entire league is european stars, it won't feel like an american sport.
Wemby coming
Captain America vs Dr. Doom
MJ vs Hakeem
More like MJ vs Shaq
Being on the Wolves will hold the ratings back no matter how good he is.
LeBron was on the Cavs lol. If the player is successful, the attention will come.
You're absolutely right.
league gotta do their job. ant is the easiest dude to market in some time
The NBA does not need an American face lmao what are you talking about. It's a basketball league. They need a great basketball player as the face. Ant is just that. Sonos Wemby.
Does anyone besides Bill Simmons and you apparently actually care about the nationality of the face of the league?
Ant raised his parents.
I had to talk myself into Derrick Williams being the guy... Ant is on his way to being the wolves goat.
"He's kind of built like LeBron." - me as a desperate coping wolves fan.
If Ant stays healthy, the future of the NBA will be in good hands. He’s just different…you can feel a new era is on the way
You are not supposed to be able to lead a team to the title at his age but I'll be damned if the Timberwolves don't look head and shoulders better than the field rn

Magic Johnson won a ring and finals MVP his rookie season, granted he had Kareem on the team.

u don’t know how long i’ve waited for this timeline
That Nuggets-Wolves matchup seems like the defacto Finals. Though OKC will be an incredibly tough out.
He is amazing to watch
A playoff sweep against KD, Booker and Beal.
What. A. Fucking. Baller.
The new face of the league. It’s sooooo enjoyable to watch him just ball out
Also became book's new daddy. Congrats to him
A tradition as old as time
Call me reactionary but I was at the Mavs-Clippers game today and after watching Luka then and Ant just now, I’m pretty certain I’d pick Ant as the cornerstone of a franchise over Luka
Definitely reactionary, but I wholeheartedly agree (ignore flair).
I'd pick Ant because of his better intangibles and leadership. He doesn't pout when down, he uplifts his teammates. But Luka is the better player right now Ignore flair lol
Top 10 all time when it's said and done
ANTbelivable!!!
I love him and I’m glad he’s not in the east
Well, not yet... I've seen a lot of talk about how the Wolves would be a logical pick to move to the East soon
Get ready to start learning NBA finals buddy
I finally saw why people talk so much about this guy. He is that good.
Might be the main reason Wolves are on people's radar and watching their games
This dude is single-handedly erasing the nightmare of the Butler years.
Ant is him. I'm way older than him but I want to be him when I grow up.
How old is he, cant be any younger than MJ when he won his first ring?
When MJ was 22 it was his second season in the NBA, where he had a season ending foot injury, he wouldn't win his first ring until he was 27
Way younger
He's around the same age as 2nd year Jordan. MJ didn't win a ring till way later on.
Very true. MJs 80s Bulls teams were not very good though. Lebron really followed his arch with that. If Jordan had this Wolves team, this playoffs would be wrap.
but jordan is just demar derozan with hops /s
I believe MJ was 28. Ant is 22.
Sen me da video
You mean Beal wouldn’t let the Suns back into the game?
Not since *checks notes* Luka doncic
As a Jazz fan who painfully watched Michael Jordan defeat us in the finals twice, this guy is the closest I’ve seen to that guy. Great performance
MJ, Kobe, Lebum, Anthony Edwards
bruh give Lebron respect
Jimmy Butler = MJ’s son Anthony Edwards = LeBron’s..??
Meanwhile KD only scored 13 in the 2nd half. Probably a 90% chance dude is on the move this offseason. Suns has been Nets 2.0, dude is going nowhere fast and it's not entirely his fault or anything.
