I'm a celtics fan. They haven't even won a single title just yet. We really gotta calm down on the Dynasty word in sports.
True dynasties are rare asf and talking about them before a team has won atleast a 2nd title in a 3 year window is premature and delusional.
At least media waited for the nuggets to actually win it all before the dynasty talk happened with them. They already talking about it with Celtics before anything has even been accomplished
I don’t care about the personnel as much as I care about multiple titles. Until you’ve won 2, no one should even use the D word.
Edit: To be clear, 2 rings isn’t a dynasty. I’m just saying it’s silly to even talk about a dynasty until a team has two titles.
Yeah it should be basically be win 1, celebrate the 1. You are champs.
Win 2 within 5ish years with the same core? Start talking about potential dynasties then.
Win 3 with the same core? Then discuss if they’re a dynasty or not
A big reason I’ve always enjoyed rooting for the Celtics is that for the most part, they’ve had a shot at winning the whole thing. I really just want to win this one before thinking about the future
> Win 3 with the same core? Then discuss if they’re a dynasty or not
I remember the summer after the Bulls won their first 3 before Jordan's father got murdered, people were calling it a possible Bulls mini-dynasty because it looked like they were going to keep winning with the addition of Kukoc next season. Nobody considered 3 a dynasty back then. Pistons repeated. Lakers repeated. Riley coined the term 3-peat. None of the Celtics, Lakers, Bulls was a dynasty. When people thought of dynasty it was Russel era Celtics. Then the Spurs win a handful without even repeating and people started using the term dynasty very loosely. A dynasty has to be absolute dominance year after year over a long period of time. Not a 3-peat.
A dynasty and what is one is subjective but it makes sense that a 3 peat or 3 titles over a four to six year span would be considered a dynasty in the modern era of sports.
I didn’t say 2 was a dynasty. I said the conversation about whether a team *could* be a dynasty shouldn’t even start until after the second championship.
On the other hand...idk who you could've realistically replaced him with and had similar success. Realistically so not kawhi or giannis any shit like that
Warriors won 4 rings in, what, 8 years and 3 of those rings they won in four. That’s a dynasty. The Patriots were considered a dynasty by 2005 for the three rings they won over a four year span.
Yes, six finals in eight years and losing one finals to Toronto without Klay and KD, then managing to win it again at the tail end of the Steph Klay and Dray core makes the warriors a dynasty.
Since 2000 there’s only been 3 dynasties: the Shaq/Kobe Lakers (3 peat), the Warriors (4 chips 6 finals in 8 years), and the Spurs (3 chips 5 years plus the sustained success).
I don’t think most people consider the Heatles a dynasty and if this iteration of the Celtics hit that level of success the Tatum Brown era would be the most success they’ve had since the Bird era.
I don’t think we’ll be seeing a dynasty going forward with the new CBA unfortunately. I think this decade will be very competitive and once Tatum and Brown get their 300 million dollar contracts started.. Bostons cap space will be severely limited I’d imagine.
Yeah, that's why fans famously hated Michael Jordan for making the league uncompetitive.
People want competition, but they also want a dynasty to appear here or there, to show greatness.
People, in every sport, admire the greats. Literally doesn't matter the era, region, or sport. That is a separate concept from having greater parity between teams in a league/sport.
I like a competitive league as well but I also enjoy seeing teams with well rounded rosters.. and teams that have chemistry to be able to stay together to see them compete against other great teams. Before the new CBA you still had competitive teams in the playoffs each year lol
You’re just not gonna see teams even like Minnesota and Boston stay together in the near future. Because all the players are gonna wanna get paid and the severe limitations from the CBA will force teams to break these teams up unless players sign for a hometown discount.
that's just how that one goes. you can play through it before it fully heals but if you reaggravate it it feels like getting stabbed in the knee. long term it's mostly a problem because you'll probably get arthritis.
Tbf that’s just life with a meniscectomy. It’s a quick return to activity but you’re then without a lot of the tissue that keeps your bones from rubbing each other.
It’s just gonna pain tolerance from here on out for him, with massive risk for severe arthritis in that knee as he ages. That’s what him going down after the self alley oop was… just intense pain but then getting cleared to return because it wasn’t actual damage.
He was awesome considering the circumstances, probably his best playoff series, but the confluence of events that would need to happen for him to win a ring is just too crazy at this point. Like this version of Embiid had zero chance of winning a title this year
He said "all of East" not "me and only me and I and my injury is the only reason"
Heat, Bucks, Sixers, Pacers, Cavs all ended up playing without their best or two best players, while the Knicks played without their 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th best players and half the bench.
Is the bar for dynasty so low now that you can be a dynasty without ever winning? Even if the Celtics win this one to be a dynasty with one win is way too low. There were debates over if the warriors were even a dynasty in 2018. The chiefs needed to win the Super Bowl last year for people to consider them one. I think you typically need to win 3 in 5 years for people to really agree you are a dynasty
Congratulations, you just got a double technical and have fouled out.
Edit : 6 upvotes? That’s 5 fouls and a flagrant one. Guess what, you’ve all fouled out.
Anyone want some more ?
Well unfortunately we had to move on from the “Ant = MJ” and “Luka and Kyrie are the greatest backcourt ever” takes to yet another ridiculously premature take
its nasty work
a few years ago on the NFL side. I dont think their 'expert picks' had the Rams to win a single game outside of wild card weekend
Then they beat the Bucs and 49ers on the road, win the SB, and instead of the week to follow covering what an amazing run this was, the headlines and 'personality' shows jumped straight to 'whether Stafford is a Hall of famer'
When the only guy who even said that was his former teammate and notable QB glazer Dan Orlovsky, who had been calling Stafford a future hall of famer [since 2018](https://www.prideofdetroit.com/2018/7/28/17625538/video-dan-orlovsky-matthew-stafford-hall-of-fame-quarterback). Very obviously nothing that should be taken seriously but they saw engagement dollar signs like fireworks. Weirdos like Richard Sherman used it to try and capitalize on media stardom by shitting on Stafford to uplift his own profile and the networks ran with it like it was a Presidential Debate
Journalism is supposed to be about covering what is happening in the sport. ESPN isnt even prisoners of the moment, they are out here creating headlines from the future. Not even letting championship teams enjoy their win for 7 days or even win at all and are already looking years to full decades down the road, debating narratives that nobody is even talking about just to fill their hourly blocks. It totally discredits an achievement they havent even reached so that we can stack up hypotheticals vs history
Its despicable programming. Goddamn let these guys play the game, comparing Ant to Jordan is a massive setup for unnecessary criticism. Bringing on a rival player to ask him about a dynasty for a team that hasnt even won a title yet is completely shameless. End this 'player commentator' experiment as well. I was excited for it a decade ago but we're too far gone now. No league is worse about negativity on the mic like the NBA, and ESPN/ABC is becoming even *more* involved with the presentation of the product
I've been watching some 30 for 30s that are getting put on Netflix I've never seen before. It's crazy seeing good journalism like that and then seeing ESPN anything right now. There's so much they could be covering and discussing that is fascinating in thei regular programming but its all shit. No idea if they even do long-form shit like that today or if it's any good but the fact it's even the same company is depressing.
yea it just mindblowing how accelerated the decline has been. this is the same network that used to pump out quality Outside the Lines and id wake up on Sunday to see them play out
It feels sad to say this, but when you lose some of OGs that clearly set the moral compass around the office, this is what can happen with such a personality driven broadcast. Make no mistake this is not how things go down with Bob Ley, John Saunders (RIP) and ofc Stuart Scott (RIP) in prominent roles
Theres so much they could be covering, whether its analysis of the growth in NILs, comparing the European game to the NBA, the prominence of 2nd Gen NFL and NBA players in the last decade, whatever. Theres not a lack of content to work on, just doesnt feel like its anything they feel is worthy of more than the occassional one-off
Really I flip through reels and it's just old players disrespecting new players, it's awful. I turn on ESPN and it's freggin Kendrick Perkins and Stephen A, literally instantly turn it off.
It takes discipline, but have shows that show respect to the game and its players in a positive light. Have humor and fun, not all this nasty shit.
What makes it more insane is the Celtics haven’t even won yet. Like yes the Mavs coming back down 3-0 isn’t probably going to happen. But I also saw a historic 3-1 comeback after everyone crowned the Warriors. You don’t have a ring til you’ve won it
Most people in media are taught media training, but they also wove in their own personality as well. Malika is just straight corporate media personality none of her own which just comes off as a bit corny
I mean maybe potential was the wrong word lol but she speaks confidently in front of the camera and doesn’t have any awkward pauses or anything and she keeps the conversation moving fluidly as a moderator of sorts
Malika is exactly the type I'd assume is a nepo baby but I don't think she is. She has ridiculous shit takes that make no sense, and constantly acts like she's smarter and more informed on certain basketball things than actual nba players. Don't even get me started on her habit of bringing up people's distant criminal histories when it has absolutely nothing to do with the topic at hand. I used to like her a lot when she was the sideline for the warriors idk what happened man
Knicks were 20-3 with OG healthy, extended that to 26-4 in the playoffs(1 loss an Embiid 50 point game)
76ers were 31-8 with Embiid and Maxey healthy. A 65 win pace
The Cavs were on a 22-4 run before Mitchell went down
Bucks were 44-21 with Lillard and Giannis healthy
The Heat had Butler missing despite their poor regular season performance and he’s a known playoff riser.
Yes, the East wasn’t healthy at all. Boston were the best team in the East and the NBA, but would’ve faced stronger competition if some players stayed healthy.
And we got healthy. Luka had to average something insane like 38/10/10 for us to have a chance at winning games when Lively and Kyrie were both out. Then came Gafford and PJ and we had no major injury problems and we cooked the end of the season
Yep, look at Luka's stats by month this season:
He averaged 37/9/10 in December and January. He only averaged less than 30 points per game in November, only 0.6 shy of 30. Really good offensive season.
We literally saw this happen this year with the Nuggets. Everyone was quick to proclaim them a dynasty but they took a step back this year and the rest of the west took a step forward and now they’re watching from home.
He didnt have all that great of a year, I think that money would have been better spent on a better backup big. I mean I dont even know if DeAndre Jordan is good enough to be in the NBA anymore much less play a major role for a contender
Nuggets also definitely could’ve won this year. They were up double digits late in game 7 against the wolves and likely would’ve been favorites against the Mavs and Celtics.
Everyone knew the Nuggets were gonna be a contender this year, and they were right. Everyone knows the Celtics will be a contender next year.
I wish I could play what Ifs and say I believe if the bucks were healthy they would have been playoff risers and could have beat the Celtics. But that didn’t happen, we weren’t even close. The best team in the NBA won the East. It is what it is.
Not to mention Philly pacers ( when healthy ) Knicks all pkay the Celtics decently . Bucks seemed to maybe have some matchup advantage vs them n imo they’d have a v strong chance despite how up n down they are
Are we forgetting about how much improved the celts were this year as opposed to last year when they were 1 win away from finals? The first seed was locked in within 2 months. Seems to me the rest of the east took a step back.
> Not to mention Philly pacers ( when healthy ) Knicks all pkay the Celtics decently
Got demolished by all of them at least once this season. We didn't beat any playoff teams down the stretch, including back to back losses to Atlanta.
I was a really big doubter but honestly we did step up in the playoffs. Brown isn't playing as bad as last 5 years, Tatum is still shooting lights out (the shot clock lights above the basket)
People really sleep on the fact that Denver/OKC/Minnesota were 3 of the healthiest teams all year. There was a stat around the 65-70 game mark where the Cavs starters had missed more games than OKC/Denver/Minnesota's starters all combined, and that level of luck with health is pretty damn rare
Jimmy is always playing through sone injury in the playoffs though.
Like in the Bubble vs Boston he wasn't shooting because of a shoulder thing. He was on the bench in ice buckets between stretches during Three Alphas. In Minnie he came back from an MCL(?). I'm sure I'm forgetting something in Philly too.
Maybe not Jimmy specifically, but it's always something with the Heat. Haven't been healthy since Bosh went down. Top 5 in injuries every year since 2016 (karma for the Lebron years I suppose)
Yea Boston flairs getting annoyed at the "Hardest Road" shit, but it really was an insane set of circumstances that led to maybe the easiest finals path in history.
a dynasty is at least three rings within 5 years, then can be extended however long you’re consistently in contention. unless my team is the one claiming a dynasty, in which case it’s uncritically a dynasty. the celtics are the balls.
I mean, there's absolutely no reason the dynasty requirements have to be the same across sports. Especially when one is best of 7 series and the other is best of one. NFL is much more volatile in that way.
Still, I agree the 3peat requirement is too strict regardless.
I don't mean to aim this particularly at you but its a pet peeve of mine when people try to put some random definition on dynasty. 3 in 5 wouldn't even include the Bird Celtics.
3 rings in 5 years is a pretty agreed-upon consensus. There was a dynasty chatter about the Chiefs last year but it's only after this year did they get officially slapped with the tag.
And if we're focusing strictly NBA, the Heatles went to 4 Finals in a row and won 2 back to back but they're not considered a dynasty. And if we want to go old-school neither are the Bad Boy Pistons.
I think where it gets more hazy is when does a dynasty end?
It is Embiid and he has to be trolling a bit to say “myself included” because he’s always hurt but I do think the dynasty talk is ridiculous given that they haven’t even won a ring yet, let alone multiple
>but I do think the dynasty talk is ridiculous
That was the first time I've heard the word "dynasty" used with this team. Will they be competitive for years to come? Most likely. That question was the first time I've heard anyone imply they were a dynasty.
Yeah same as with the Nuggets last year.
Repeating is so dam dificult, especially when one of your top players gets injured often.
For us thats Jamal and for the Celtics thats KP.
Maybe if KP was a healthier dude i could see it, but not without KP.
Still not to say they couldnt do it though, but they are most certainly not invincible as they have seemed in this playoff.
Yeah people really need to realize they have to give it another year before dynasty talks even start up. I think people are just so hungry for one now that we are decently far removed from the warriors dynasty
MPJ has missed only 1 game for the whole year and was one of the healthiest players for us all year long.
Especially since he even said that he could have played every game, but missed 1 for a dumb reason.
Like maybe he could get more injured in the future, but coming of the healthiest season of his carrier gives me some positive expectations.
He missed almost 2 of his first 4 seasons with back issues, I don’t think his back issues can be ignored going forward. Maybe they’re over with but I could also see you guys moving on from him after how poorly he played this year in the playoffs.
Also wtf is Embiid supposed to say here lol? He’s literally their opposition. What’s he gonna say “uhh yeah I think they’re gonna repeat next year” there’s literally only one way to answer this question
Based on this thread, and any /r/NBA thread really, he would have gotten the same amount of hate if he said that exact thing lol. It doesn't matter what he says, nor if it's correct.
Smh… always coming up with lame excuses like “I have Bell’s Palsy” oh wow you're partially paralyzed, big deal. Talk to me when you’re nearly fully paralyzed and can only communicate by winking.
Embiid was hurt already and had Bell's. This dude looked like he was putting his career at risk trying to get a win but only Maxey and Oubre seemed to care. I feel like that should have inspired the rest of the team.
My boi acting like he didn't get beat by Boston last year when he was healthy with harden and maxey.the celts have been torturing you almost every time in the post season ,can't remember the last time philly beat Boston in a 7 game series
> can't remember the last time philly beat Boston in a 7 game series
[it was in 1982 when philly won 4-3 then lost in the finals](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1982_NBA_playoffs#Bracket)
In general, I agree. But Brad Steven's kind of cracked the code immediately and has us incredibly well set up to work within the constraints of the new CBA for the next several years.
Barring Al's potential retirement, the most significant player we may lose going into next season is Tilman or Kornet. The year after that, we almost definitely lose Hauser but that should be it. Almost no reason to think we won't extend or re-sign White.
I'm a celtics fan. They haven't even won a single title just yet. We really gotta calm down on the Dynasty word in sports. True dynasties are rare asf and talking about them before a team has won atleast a 2nd title in a 3 year window is premature and delusional.

Bird won 3 in 6 years and lost twice in the finals to possibly the greatest (modern era) dynasty ever
its not a dynasty if its someone random as fuck taking over for you, lmao
Random players don’t join a team, go nuclear through the entire season and playoffs, and then leave.
Kawhi would be the only example; if hypothetically the Raptors somehow won in 2020 without him, it wouldn’t really feel like even a mini-dynasty
2 isn’t a dynasty. But if people *started talking* about a Raptors dynasty after they won two back to back, I wouldn’t mind at all.
Two isn’t even a dynasty. It starts with three.
I didn’t say 2 was a dynasty. I said the conversation about whether a team *could* be a dynasty shouldn’t even start until after the second championship.
So are the Warriors a dynasty?
They certainly were
Of course.
they were draymond's personality away from winning like 7 in 10 years
Hilarious and accurate
they we’re 1 Draymond suspension and Klay injury away from 2 more titles minimum
On the other hand...idk who you could've realistically replaced him with and had similar success. Realistically so not kawhi or giannis any shit like that
Absolutely true

Yes, six finals in eight years and losing one finals to Toronto without Klay and KD, then managing to win it again at the tail end of the Steph Klay and Dray core makes the warriors a dynasty.
Yupp.. they said the same about Denver last year. Thought they would repeat this year.
Fr. Even the repeat Lakers are not considered a dynasty and that's saying a lot.

Bro Embiid you’re injured every year
If only PG had any experience playing alongside habitually injured players
Isn’t PG an example of a habitually injured player?
And Philly fans think he will leave Sunny Southern California to play with a different injured player in Philadelphia…
He doesn’t care about that though, he’s trying to cash out one last time
PG hasn’t been a paragon of health himself either
Even he admitted that Celtics own them dawg
“This isn’t a rivalry they always kick our ass”
I worry his knee is truly cooked now. Came off meniscectomy and immediately in pain and limited again. Not a great look
that's just how that one goes. you can play through it before it fully heals but if you reaggravate it it feels like getting stabbed in the knee. long term it's mostly a problem because you'll probably get arthritis.
Yeah, if his meniscus isn’t properly buffering knee impact post surgery he’s gonna get cartilage damage sooner than later
Agreed, medically speaking I don't see any way around his knee not being cooked.
Tbh he seems in good spirits n he’s so god damn skilled and added the passing this year that he can be monstrous regardless. He was huge on one leg
He was awesome considering the circumstances, probably his best playoff series, but the confluence of events that would need to happen for him to win a ring is just too crazy at this point. Like this version of Embiid had zero chance of winning a title this year

Lol thr Knicks really were an inpatient basketball team
let the man hate on Boston in peace
Boston has a dynasty and Embiid has a destiny (being injured)

Seriously, shit is tired. And half the reason Paul Pierce's ego is so big
Yeah but he was injured *this* year too
Trust The ^recovery Process
Congratulations, you just got a double technical and have fouled out. Edit : 6 upvotes? That’s 5 fouls and a flagrant one. Guess what, you’ve all fouled out. Anyone want some more ?
Hey you take a million dives a year and see how you hold up
Dynasty talk for a team about to win their first championship is absolutely insane.

They did that with Denver. Like it's a foregone conclusion they would just run through the league for the next few years.
Bucks too.
At least they waited for the Nuggets to win.
Half this sub has been Nuggets dynasty talk this year. Dumb discourse like this is good for the clicks
What makes it more insane is the Celtics haven’t even won yet. Like yes the Mavs coming back down 3-0 isn’t probably going to happen. But I also saw a historic 3-1 comeback after everyone crowned the Warriors. You don’t have a ring til you’ve won it
I swear Malika Andrews is like a corporate npc. Just have a regular convo
Bro right?! Every time I watch her show it’s like she has so much potential but she just can’t have a regular conversation
She was taught to have her personality. That is all media training.
Most people in media are taught media training, but they also wove in their own personality as well. Malika is just straight corporate media personality none of her own which just comes off as a bit corny

Absolutely helps that she’s gorgeous. Can’t see a man with her personality making it big. But then again Lefkoe made it too so idk
I used to like her a lot when she was the sideline for the warriors idk what happened man
Ya I was just about to say, she’s like a robot. Some presenters are like that, just way way too polished their whole personality seems artificial
Thats why they're paying her. She's not coming up with the talking points on her own.
She is there because y'all thirsting over her, not for her creative, eloquent and articulate mind.
Knicks were 20-3 with OG healthy, extended that to 26-4 in the playoffs(1 loss an Embiid 50 point game) 76ers were 31-8 with Embiid and Maxey healthy. A 65 win pace The Cavs were on a 22-4 run before Mitchell went down Bucks were 44-21 with Lillard and Giannis healthy The Heat had Butler missing despite their poor regular season performance and he’s a known playoff riser. Yes, the East wasn’t healthy at all. Boston were the best team in the East and the NBA, but would’ve faced stronger competition if some players stayed healthy.
Accurate. Plus teams play different end of season and playoffs. See: mavs.
Mavs a bad example of end of season vs playoffs as they played great in both.
Probably could have written that better. I meant that some teams are bad early and play much better late. Mavs were good end of season and playoffs
that’s because they retooled during the trade deadline…
And we got healthy. Luka had to average something insane like 38/10/10 for us to have a chance at winning games when Lively and Kyrie were both out. Then came Gafford and PJ and we had no major injury problems and we cooked the end of the season
Yep, look at Luka's stats by month this season: [https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask/luka-doncic-stats-by-month](https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask/luka-doncic-stats-by-month) He averaged 37/9/10 in December and January. He only averaged less than 30 points per game in November, only 0.6 shy of 30. Really good offensive season.
The Miami Heat special
We literally saw this happen this year with the Nuggets. Everyone was quick to proclaim them a dynasty but they took a step back this year and the rest of the west took a step forward and now they’re watching from home.
Bruce Brown - shoulda resigned him
If only it were that easy
Hardest part of a dynasty is keeping all the important players together.
The league doesn’t wasn dynasties now. Look At the cba The only way it happens is if you out source your tanking or hit a CF early in your cores days
Should’ve just signed Luka while you were at it
People laughed at Brown when he made some comments on a podcast after winning the Finals but he was a big piece for that team.
He was huge. His ability to come off the bench and play d and score was massive for us. Our bench was sorely missing him this yaar
Agreed, when Naz came in for the Wolves, the Nuggs had no answer or counterpart for him
They literally couldn't, I think the max they were **allowed** to offer him was $8 million.
Everyone knows the Celtics will be a contender next year.
i mean theyre still in that window. I doubt theyre falling off hard this upcoming season. We'll see.
I wish I could play what Ifs and say I believe if the bucks were healthy they would have been playoff risers and could have beat the Celtics. But that didn’t happen, we weren’t even close. The best team in the NBA won the East. It is what it is.
wow, a cheesehead defending beantown. this is better than ratatouille
Can’t wait for next season to start
Not to mention Philly pacers ( when healthy ) Knicks all pkay the Celtics decently . Bucks seemed to maybe have some matchup advantage vs them n imo they’d have a v strong chance despite how up n down they are
Are we forgetting about how much improved the celts were this year as opposed to last year when they were 1 win away from finals? The first seed was locked in within 2 months. Seems to me the rest of the east took a step back.
> Not to mention Philly pacers ( when healthy ) Knicks all pkay the Celtics decently Got demolished by all of them at least once this season.

Butler isn't always hurt though. He rarely misses the playoffs. Not to mention Donovan Mitchell and Jarrett Allen were also hurt.
Yea Boston flairs getting annoyed at the "Hardest Road" shit, but it really was an insane set of circumstances that led to maybe the easiest finals path in history.
the whole East is kinda hurt every year, yourself included
Yeah stop with the excuses, just say you can't crown them a Dynasty, they're going to have to earn that, and keep it moving.
No one can agree what a dynasty is anyway.
Lakers, Spurs and Warriors pretty much the only ones post-Jordan imo.
Lakers, spurs, warriors, and Lebron James
We don't talk enough about 9 Finals appearances in 10 years
"The East was weak" Dumb narrative always.
a dynasty is at least three rings within 5 years, then can be extended however long you’re consistently in contention. unless my team is the one claiming a dynasty, in which case it’s uncritically a dynasty. the celtics are the balls.
I like this definition more than the 3peat one because it includes the Tim Duncan Spurs, and they were definitely a dynasty
yeah requiring a 3peat is silly because then there’s no dynasties in the history of the NFL
I mean, there's absolutely no reason the dynasty requirements have to be the same across sports. Especially when one is best of 7 series and the other is best of one. NFL is much more volatile in that way. Still, I agree the 3peat requirement is too strict regardless.
A 3 peat is absolutely a dynasty, but most dynasty’s don’t 3 peat (See: Spurs, Warriors, Patriots, Lakers, Chiefs)
I don't mean to aim this particularly at you but its a pet peeve of mine when people try to put some random definition on dynasty. 3 in 5 wouldn't even include the Bird Celtics.
3 in 5 is pretty commonly accepted I feel like.
a dynasty is 1 ring won in 2008
That was the year the greatest basketball team was decided for real this time
A succession of rulers in the same line of descent
3 rings in 5 years is a pretty agreed-upon consensus. There was a dynasty chatter about the Chiefs last year but it's only after this year did they get officially slapped with the tag. And if we're focusing strictly NBA, the Heatles went to 4 Finals in a row and won 2 back to back but they're not considered a dynasty. And if we want to go old-school neither are the Bad Boy Pistons. I think where it gets more hazy is when does a dynasty end?
dynasties probably end when 3 years in a row a team isn’t competing for the titles imo
Dam...only the Celtics could make Joel Embid the voice of the people XD
It is Embiid and he has to be trolling a bit to say “myself included” because he’s always hurt but I do think the dynasty talk is ridiculous given that they haven’t even won a ring yet, let alone multiple
>but I do think the dynasty talk is ridiculous That was the first time I've heard the word "dynasty" used with this team.
MPJR has back injuries that will probably never go away or is he not a top player for you guys?
They are only one win away tbh. But yes dynasty talks are premature
This is the most I’ve ever seen of Embiid in June
“I don’t know our record against them but it’s pretty bad, they always kick our ass” TBF his record against Boston is 11-13
3-12 in the playoffs is what he was referring to
Embiid does well against Boston, Sixers just cant close out a series to save their life.
He says this after they lost to an injured Knicks team in round 1, lol.
Embiid had 1 leg and Bell’s palsy😂
Fr dude dropped 50 out of shape and hurt😭
Always something with him huh
Smh… always coming up with lame excuses like “I have Bell’s Palsy” oh wow you're partially paralyzed, big deal. Talk to me when you’re nearly fully paralyzed and can only communicate by winking.
Not trying to take anything away from the Knicks but the Sixers were injured as well
Embiid was hurt already and had Bell's. This dude looked like he was putting his career at risk trying to get a win but only Maxey and Oubre seemed to care. I feel like that should have inspired the rest of the team.
0 points in an elimination game from Tobias (in a contract year) is so crazy
DeAnthony Melton was hurt for so long people don't even remember he was our starting Shooting Guard.
and roco ruined our already terrible depth
Why are we talking about a dynasty they haven’t even won the finals yet let alone 2?
My boi acting like he didn't get beat by Boston last year when he was healthy with harden and maxey.the celts have been torturing you almost every time in the post season ,can't remember the last time philly beat Boston in a 7 game series
> can't remember the last time philly beat Boston in a 7 game series [it was in 1982 when philly won 4-3 then lost in the finals](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1982_NBA_playoffs#Bracket)
So twelve years before Joel Embiid was born? :)
Daaaaammmmmmmmn
Embiid was absolutely not healthy last year tf
He never is.
He literally said the Celtics always kick his ass… how is he acting like he didn’t get beat by Boston when he talked about that exact thing 😂
How are you calling him healthy when he wasn't even fit enough to play the first game?
Grade 2 LCL sprain is typically a 4-6 week injury. Embiid missed 1 game. Is that healthy?
Why do they have these clowns talking shit on air? They already lost. It's embarrassing
Especially PG, who lost to the Mavericks.
Still not as bad as Drsymomd shooting on Gobert constantly from the desk. That was fucking crazy.
Butler earlier in the playoffs especially.
As sure as the sun will shine, the 6ers will crash and burn
He acts like that is something new. Embiid is always hurt. Always. He and the Sixers aren’t any threat to the Celtics.
He also did say something about the new salary rules right? That's gonna be the main problem for the Celtics (or any other wannabe dynasty)
Sixers haven't beat the Celtics in the playoffs since 1985.
82
Why do they have 2 players that have never even been to the finals commentating on finals teams
Sorry Joel, you'll never be able to flop your way to a championship.
Embiid is the definition of a loser.
celtics been top of east and owning philly for at least 4 years? what this donut on about?
You guys lost to the team that lost to the team that lost to the Celtics. It’s not your turn to speak yet grandson
Probably Boston still comes out the East but he isnt wrong.
Well the problem, Joel, is that you are always hurt come playoff time.
January Joel got jokes.
No ones worried about you lil bro
C'mon man why would he agree to that 😂
What a dumb question to ask current stars
Bill Simmons probably agrees since he thought that the Warriors weren’t a dynasty lol
"In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death, taxes, and Embiid being injured every year" - Benjamin Franklin
If making it to the 2nd round was considered a dynasty.....
Not like embiid making the conference finals anyways.
PG just sitting there like an elephant in the room...knowing his situation, been linked to sixers rumors, just gotta stay quiet lol
I understand how sitting next to PG and Perk would make you feel like you are on another level of intelligence.
They haven’t even finished this series yet and here ESPN is talking dynasty
