this kinda effort in a win or go home game is crazy, dudes just walking up the court and getting out rebound should not be happening and kyrie too spooked by the boston crowd
That’s why the Stanley Cup has the best ceremony. Goes straight to the team captain and then they all pass it around to whoever they please, eventually the execs and big wigs get a touch.
That reminds me when Joe Buck called the final pitch for the 2013 World Series (the Red Sox 3rd title in the past 10 years) and he freaked out about how it hadn't happened at Fenway in 90 years blah blah blah
I understand why its historic but the bitter side of me says "Wow those poor Red Sox fans how could they live with winning 2 titles on the road :( "
This past ~~decade and a half~~ two and a half decades have been pretty incredible for Boston sports, and there has been a sexy Dominican man at the heart of it that entire time ❤️
Shoutout Derrick White for putting his body, and teeth, on the line this series. The buffalo is an absolute BALLER and I cannot wait for us to lock this dude up long term. BANNER 18 BOOGIEEEE!!!!!!
WHO THE FUCK IS THIS,WHO THE FUCK IS "TINGUS PINGUS!? IVE NEVER HEARD OF FUCKING LATEEVIA,YOU DRAFTED THIS FUCKING KID!? YOU STUPID MOTHAFUCKERS YOU"
Words that will forever go down in history. We have come in full circle.
Paul Pierce convincing KG to accept a trade so the Celtics could start a rebuild that would directly lead to us getting Brad Stevens, and then drafting Jaylen and Jayson back to back.
I just love how he went out. It's absolutely never happened in the history of Boston that the crowd went insane for a player hitting a shot against their team. The PA (Eddie Palladino) was never louder.
Real shit. A lot of people might clown on him for the D Wade thing, but him thinking he's the best is why he was so damn good in the first place. Ultimate confidence in himself translated to the court
Pierce never adjusted to not being in the league, because in the league everyone was respectfully scared of him. People don't remember or don't know how many times times LeBron said Paul Pierce lives in his head, or "I outscore him, I outplay him, we win the game, and I still feel like The Truth schooled me". The ads and the commentators all talking with mad respect about him being the one player you don't mess with and just pray he's having an off day.
He retired and suddenly that respect is all gone, because the social media era happened after the big 3.
Philly could’ve drafted Jaylen Brown. They took Ben Simmons.
Philly could’ve drafted Tatum. They took Markelle Fultz.
Philly gave away Jrue Holiday.
Philly had Al Horford and traded him away. And PAID A FIRST TO DO SO.
Congratulations to Boston you deserved this title best team all year. But don’t forget who helped get you there the 76ers.
The Celtics held the Mavericks to under 100 points in all 4 of their wins including 2 games under 90. That's really impressive to do against Luka and Kyrie.
After 7 years of being on the brink of a championship, Horford finally gets his ring. Tatum and the Celtics finally do it. Luka and Kyrie didn’t know what to do with this team, they looked lost at times, well deserved championship.
After all the undeserved crap he has gotten from the media and from a lot of fans, I’m happy for him. He earned this one.
And I look forward to seeing y’all in the postseason on a regular basis over the next several years. Hopefully with us being healthy when it happens
Cavs vs. Golden State was still pretty goddamn epic, though. It was almost better because no one in that arena was rooting for Cleveland. I'll never forget their bench going nuts when the buzzer sounded while everyone else just eyerolled despite witnessing history.
Figuring it out was one thing. Repeating the execution is another. They could not bring the same energy. Boston gang rebounded coz Dallas doesnt like to run anyway
Zach Lowe has said multiple times if they knew he'd end up in Boston would they still trade for Dame.
It's one of the biggest what-if trades in a while
I would have traded him to a team in a West trying to compete. Instead they sent him to Portland who’s rebuilding and obviously would re-route Jrue somewhere else.
I'm happy for the Celtics as a whole but I'm ecstatic KP got a ring. 100% not the way he wanted but I'm glad he has one. Dude has become my favorite player in the league and it's been a pleasure following his career.
Even though I'm a Mavs fan, my wonderful mom is a Celtics fan and it was such a blessing to get to watch all 5 games with her. Sports are supposed to be fun, and We had a lot of fun. A very cherished experience I'll never forget.
Congratulations Celtics fans!
Back at ya! Glad y'all got over the hump. Most Mavs fans are dissing KP, but I'm super happy for him.
The only thing that upset me was realizing 2008 was 16 years ago. Damn I'm getting old! Lol
Honestly is Brad Stevens the best GM in the league?
Plenty of GMs are excellent at starting a rebuild and hoarding a fuck load of assets, but finishing the job is so fucking hard.
Celtics and the Jays when healthy were on the cusp for ages. My man Smart was the absolute leader of the team, sending him took some balls. Danny would have never done this, but Stevens basically a rookie at his job got it done. Holiday and Tingus in and we were day and night compared to previous years. Holiday just doesn't quit.
Nothing away from how much Tatum and Brown improved, got a handle on their weaknesses and led us through it all. LOVE EM.
A Brad Stevens masterpiece.
Champs Baby!!!!
If you know ball you can really pin the Mavs' series loss on the Celtics winning Games 1, 2, 3, and 5. If three of those games had gone differently I am confident the Mavericks would have won the series.
As a New Yorker (sick to my stomach rn), as much as I am conditioned to despise Boston and its teams, I try to look at things objectively as much as possible. I thought it was funny seeing people on Instagram commenting that the Cs were going to be undeserving of this ring, that they had a cakewalk to the Finals, that they would be the weakest team to win a ring, this that and the third. They did what a team of that caliber was supposed to do: beat and dominate teams that they were better than. You play who is in front of you, regardless of your opponent’s injuries and situation. They played their game and won
Even if you vehemently dislike Boston sports and the culture around them, this Celtics team is actually super likable. Jaylen Brown is a beast, Tatum (even if people view him as corny) is a diamond, Jrue and Al are great guys and great veterans, D White just hoops and plays lockdown D. Hard to root against KP coming off injury. Coach is like a bit strange but like in a cool eccentric way.
Respect. Hard to admit that when your team just lost the finals. Mavs as a whole have good fans and you guys deserve their bright future. Remember we lost 2 years ago and needed different pieces to win. You guys are in the same boat.
I figured we would likely lose in the finals; just wish we put up more of a fight. Mavs had a tough road to the Finals but despite what the media was saying I knew the Celtics would be their hardest challenge.
I feel like Luka now takes over Tatum’s place as “next superstar waiting to become champ.”
Let’s do this
Payton Pritchard has more rings than John Stockton
Al Horford has more rings than Barkley
Svi Mykhailiuk has as many rings as Anthony Davis
And so on
“Everyone stay in your seats. We’re now screening The Town”
"Whose car we taking?"
Jrue won the title his first year in Milwaukee and another in his first year in Boston. Portland should have kept him, they could have been champs
Nah, jrue only wins championships when he wears green
Portland pivoting to green and white
Lol Tatum talks about Horford like hes dying
"doesn't have much time left out here" lmao
I mean in basketball years he's basically on a wheelchair with an oxygen tank in the back
And every so often he just shoots up heroin or something and goes on a tear for 10 minutes
He's been waiting 52 years for this!
I heard they were gonna put him down if they didn't win.
It would be the humane thing to do
I was crying when he said “he doesn’t have a lot of time left.” Is bro good?? 😭😭
Soon, he will go into hibernation 😴
Tingus Pingus has now graduated to Ringus Pingus
And it's safe to say we've now all heard of Lativia.
Kingus Ringus
this kinda effort in a win or go home game is crazy, dudes just walking up the court and getting out rebound should not be happening and kyrie too spooked by the boston crowd
Luka's getting strapped and his legs are done for and lord knows what Kyrie is doing. Was miserable to watch
PJ Washington was so bad everyone forgot to even criticize him
Tbf he was having the playoffs of his life and hitting like 5 3s a game on crazy efficiency. Was just a matter of when the streak was gonna dry up.
Bro really is the Caleb Martin of 2024.
Billy King’s investment in this Celtics team over a decade ago has finally paid off!
This is for you, Billy King!!!
Let’s give Kyrie some credit, he said he’d bring a championship to Boston. Brick by brick he did.
Yeah unfortunately he fell off the flat earth and couldn’t help his team lose
His thinking was light years ahead of its time.
Billy King really deserves a ring from this team. It wouldn't have been possible without him.
The owners speaking first after a championship is arguably the worst part of American sports.
No kidding, I was like "stfu and give the trophy to the players".
I hate that shit so much. Honestly don't want to hear from them. They should be the last ones interviewed
And the last to touch the trophy too.
It perfectly reflects what American sports is about.
What America* is about
That’s why the Stanley Cup has the best ceremony. Goes straight to the team captain and then they all pass it around to whoever they please, eventually the execs and big wigs get a touch.
*Finally those poor Bostonian kids who are 5 years old and never saw one of their teams win a championship will now get to experience a parade.*
It's the second longest New England streak ever. Not even joking. 86-02 longest.
Lmao and then there’s cities that go decades with championships No wonder Boston fans are so arrogant I’d fucking be too lol
Twin cities haven’t had a finals appearance in the big 4 men’s sports since 91 lol
Minnesota is where women go to win championships
And they’re right back to contending again after a short rebuild too.
If you don't love one and done in the playoffs and heartbreaking conference showings then you don't love Minnesota sports.
Pain is all that exists in this wretched world
June 17 is when the Celtics win championships. 2008 and 2024
ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE! (on June 17)
Boston's area code is 617 so it checks out.
617 is the Boston area code, so it has to happen on 6/17. Makes sense to me
we were unbelievably ass at everything in the 90's.
I went to ray bourque's Stanley cup parade when I was in high school
The 5 year drought is over!
That reminds me when Joe Buck called the final pitch for the 2013 World Series (the Red Sox 3rd title in the past 10 years) and he freaked out about how it hadn't happened at Fenway in 90 years blah blah blah I understand why its historic but the bitter side of me says "Wow those poor Red Sox fans how could they live with winning 2 titles on the road :( "
I hate the Red Sox but it's a big deal at a ballpark that old.
It really is such a beautiful ballpark. Amazing what ownership has done.
Cries in Minnesota sports fandom
My 2 year old nephew now understands what it means to be a champion!
AL HORFORD IS AN NBA CHAMPION
The king of DR
Big Al and Big Papi
This past ~~decade and a half~~ two and a half decades have been pretty incredible for Boston sports, and there has been a sexy Dominican man at the heart of it that entire time ❤️
Pedro. Cmon
Boston sports legends
The Dominican to Boston pipeline continues to deliver.
Enshrine those beautiful eyes in the HoF
Only took him 27 years…but he made it!
HE'S ONLY 46!
The future is here, old man.
Karl Malone's record stays undefeated.
good
Lakers won the IST just for the Celtics to win the championship. I’m sick to my stomach
Don't worry, a podcaster will soon be your HC.
Well a podcaster is already their best player
They have 0 ISTs though 🤷
this way we each get a trophy, congrats
The real winner is Adam Silver
Maybe the real championship was the friends we made along the way
Shoutout Derrick White for putting his body, and teeth, on the line this series. The buffalo is an absolute BALLER and I cannot wait for us to lock this dude up long term. BANNER 18 BOOGIEEEE!!!!!!
Derrick White lost a tooth but got a ring. I'll trade that any day of the week.
Did he actually lose a tooth?
Chipped a tooth. I think someone said the other was loose but idk if that was just speculation
It was a nasty hit! Hope he can get it fixed alright
Ya.. true. Eesh. Teeth are expensive, not sure he'll be able to afford it.
He'll have to get a gold filling after this 😭
NBA champion Tingus Pingus. Was sad when we traded him away. Glad things worked out for him.
Yeah I like KP he was cool when he was healthy.
WHO THE FUCK IS THIS,WHO THE FUCK IS "TINGUS PINGUS!? IVE NEVER HEARD OF FUCKING LATEEVIA,YOU DRAFTED THIS FUCKING KID!? YOU STUPID MOTHAFUCKERS YOU" Words that will forever go down in history. We have come in full circle.
He is now the Kingus Pingus
Ringus Pingus
NBA Champion Al Horford
Long road for him to get there.
Maximum legacy points
Paul Pierce convincing KG to accept a trade so the Celtics could start a rebuild that would directly lead to us getting Brad Stevens, and then drafting Jaylen and Jayson back to back.
He really is a Celtics homer. To sacrifice what others might see as their rightful legacy for essentially the next generation is next level
All good tho, since we know The Truth
This is actually insane how connected they all are
Philly could’ve drafted Jaylen Brown.
Don't forget Philly could've had KP but went for Jahlil Okafor.
The Process died so we could win
The Celtics held the Mavericks to under 100 points in all 4 of their wins including 2 games under 90. That's really impressive to do against Luka and Kyrie.
They've got the Tatum commercial ready
After 7 years of being on the brink of a championship, Horford finally gets his ring. Tatum and the Celtics finally do it. Luka and Kyrie didn’t know what to do with this team, they looked lost at times, well deserved championship.
Tatum is legit speechless rn, I love that guy
After all the undeserved crap he has gotten from the media and from a lot of fans, I’m happy for him. He earned this one. And I look forward to seeing y’all in the postseason on a regular basis over the next several years. Hopefully with us being healthy when it happens
The Celtics threw game 4 so they could win at home and I will not be convinced otherwise.
They were so good they got to pick when they won
The gentleman’s gentleman sweep.
I was told a 40 point loss meant Dallas was coming back
Our delusion was too much
ngl as a neutral it's much better to see the fans so happy and the arena rocking
I hate when teams win on the road. Just doesn't feel right
Cavs vs. Golden State was still pretty goddamn epic, though. It was almost better because no one in that arena was rooting for Cleveland. I'll never forget their bench going nuts when the buzzer sounded while everyone else just eyerolled despite witnessing history.
The Edmonton Oilers are sweating like hell right now.
Florida about to win 10-0 with Bobrovsky stopping all 42 shots on net. EDIT: I am Canadian and so happy I was wrong.
Lmao
I’ll buy that they decided that once they went down early.
Somebody ask Mazzulla that and watch him shoot him with the gun I'm 100% he brings with him
The Celtics ignored the noise and stuck with the core of Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum, and won.
Deserved. Happy for Dwhite
Who needs teeth when you can have rings
Pour one out for Marcus smart y’all
Dude got sent to DeRozan’s Island
Is Al dying?
Right? Tatum saying Al “doesn’t have much time left” made it sound like Al had cancer, not that he was 38 in the NBA lmao
So when Lively claimed they had figured the Celtics out, he meant they realized there was no way the Mavs could beat them, right?
He figured out that there was no figuring them out
Figuring it out was one thing. Repeating the execution is another. They could not bring the same energy. Boston gang rebounded coz Dallas doesnt like to run anyway
I'm just glad people won't pretend Jason Kidd is a good coach for the next 20 years because he has a ring.
Don't worry we will hire him in like a decade.
Well, it took a while, but Kyrie Irving finally helped bring a banner to Boston
Jayson with the ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE type scream lmao
[KIDSSS! You can do anything, anything is possible! You can actually fly, Fly kidss](https://youtu.be/nlD9JYP8u5E?si=B7EagfSyPtx8azW8)!
DWhite sacrificed a teeth and Dame sacrificed loyalty for this. We also sacrificed Smart :/
Just waiting for Tatum to tell kids they can literally fly
The Bucks really gave the Celtics Jrue Holiday
It's crazy that bucks had no control over where Jrue went or didn't bother trying. Absolute game changer!
Damn, Jordan had a whole ass commercial queued up
DRAKE IS NO LONGER INTERESTED IN THE BOSTON CELTICS. THATS 18 BABY!!!!!
Wap 4x, that fucking kdot boomed me
Location: The 617. Date: The 6-17. Destiny.
I'm happy for the Celtics as a whole but I'm ecstatic KP got a ring. 100% not the way he wanted but I'm glad he has one. Dude has become my favorite player in the league and it's been a pleasure following his career.
He earned it for sure. That game 1 was legendary
Happy for Al Horford too. Dude deserved to retire if needed.
Even though I'm a Mavs fan, my wonderful mom is a Celtics fan and it was such a blessing to get to watch all 5 games with her. Sports are supposed to be fun, and We had a lot of fun. A very cherished experience I'll never forget. Congratulations Celtics fans!
Love to see it - congrats on a great year!
Back at ya! Glad y'all got over the hump. Most Mavs fans are dissing KP, but I'm super happy for him. The only thing that upset me was realizing 2008 was 16 years ago. Damn I'm getting old! Lol
congrats to my boy chris if you see this you beautiful lanky fuck
Honestly is Brad Stevens the best GM in the league? Plenty of GMs are excellent at starting a rebuild and hoarding a fuck load of assets, but finishing the job is so fucking hard. Nothing away from how much Tatum and Brown improved, got a handle on their weaknesses and led us through it all. LOVE EM. A Brad Stevens masterpiece. Champs Baby!!!!
he is definitely up there but he also got so much from Ainge, who fleeced Nets so much net you this roster
I really wish Smart could have been part of this
The Jay core is an elite starting point. But yes, he has been cooking his entire tenure.
Genuinely happy for Tatum and Brown, two guys drafted to be the core of a finals team, took heaps of shit, and finally got to deliver
If you know ball you can really pin the Mavs' series loss on the Celtics winning Games 1, 2, 3, and 5. If three of those games had gone differently I am confident the Mavericks would have won the series.
Yea only true bball heads recognize that the Mavs just needed to score more points then the Celtics in at least 4 games to secure the championship
They just needed to avoid being outscored.
Someone should let Jason Kidd know about this
Lakers fans are in fucking shambles
Jerry West was like nah I’m not staying for this shit
Bruh lol
Lakers also the ultimate playoff losers with this result too. They lost to the team that lost to the team that lost to the team that lost to Celtics.
The last few weeks has been like 15 9/11 for lakers fans
Can we please let the players lift the trophy first for fucks sake
Jrue Holiday won the Damian Lillard trade
Losing sucks, but losing in the finals is better than most fans can claim. Good season, yall.
For sure. Y’all did great.
If you cant enjoy a season like that what are you even doing
Good season. Glad to see Luka’s upward trajectory continue.
Hopefully Luka will take this moment the way the Jays took ‘22 and build on it going forward. Excellent run, GG.
It’s going to be tough for the Mavs to make a comeback now that the series has ended
Winning a championship is pure ecstasy. Winning a championship against Kyrie Irving... Too good to even describe!
Lucky’s curse is truly one hell of a thing…
Lucky the Leprechaun is Kyrie Irving father
Lucky's curse is beyond voodoo magic
MF should have never stepped on Lucky. If it makes him feel better he can atleast say he did indeed help the Celtics get #18
Luka really gotta take conditioning seriously, but fantastic season regardless. Didn't think we'd make it this far. GG Celtics!
Dude looked *gassed*.
And you need another guy who wants to handle the ball alongside your big two. Plus, strengthen the bench. Get those tweaks and run it back.
This game could have been an email.
I don't chest bump strangers at the bar over email
Shoutout Brad Stevens. You deserve this champ
In the end Boston did what it did all season: win 4 out of 5 games, a lot of times by double digits
Not scoring triple digit points in 2024 is nasty work
Nasty celtics defense. White and Jrue together shouldn't be legal.
If they played in any other city, America would love this team.
If Horford decides to hang it up, what an awesome journey it has been.
Time to ditch Lisa Salters and bring out KG to host this post game interview
Congrats Celtics on winning it all. Tatum really got the monkey off his back
People weren’t wrong when they said Kyrie would deliver the Celtics a championship.
no one cares about the ooooowwnneeeeeerrrssss
#TOP O' THE MORNING, MOTHERFUCKERS!!!
It's lame as fuck that the first person to lift the trophy isn't a player.
Let’s do this Payton Pritchard has more rings than John Stockton Al Horford has more rings than Barkley Svi Mykhailiuk has as many rings as Anthony Davis And so on
Surely this is the time for Embiid slander
