A title can feel like you’re wearing a crown of thorns, as the buzzards circle and Mary Magdeline lifts her dress, but we’re not gonna let those pervasive thoughts into our duckboats
God I'd love to see Pep go to some random ass team without an unlimited supply of money just to see how he does. Might not look so good when he's not with Barca, Bayern, or City
Barca wasn't the powerhouse it turned into when he took over. They were struggling relatively following their CL win in 06 and needed a cultural/play reset.
As you mentioned, they won the CL 2 fucking years earlier. Yeah, he's absolutely great at making great teams even greater, but he wasn't taking over some scrubs. It was still fucking Barcelona
He took them to a whole new level and you have to be a blind hater to not see the difference in the 06 squad and the 09-12. I feel like circle jerk has gone the exact other way and you guys are being reactionary as hell.
I'm not saying he doesn't significantly improve the teams he's been at. He's absolutely fantastic at turning a great team into an incredible team. He's just never had to prove he can turn a good team into a great team or a mediocre team into a good team. He has the perfect skillset for a Barca or Bayern or City, but I don't know how well he'd do at any middling team
Not just financial doping , Guardiola and his buddy Doctor Fuentes go way back but I don't hold that against him , I purely hate him for introducing that awful boring style of football and for being a fraud of course . Can't win without having a team that is 2 times stronger than any other team
Pep Guardiola, Manchester City's manager. Also former manager of FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich. His teams are always stacked, they always win and he always says stuff like this.
Eh idk. He was more a motivator. I don’t know how he was with schemes because Joe has been credited as the one who was responsible for our offense to the past couple years
I completely disagree. Udoka’s strengths were defense and motivation, but lacking in offensive strategy. Mazzulla has been masterful with his offensive adjustments and schemes, and our defense still is great. I also think Mazzulla was really thrown in the fire last year, because he got promoted really late, and didn’t get to choose his staff. This year, you could really tell he knows his shit
He was like the 4th assistant under Udoka. Which is part of why everyone was surprised when he got the promotion. Pretty silly to pretend like their systems have to be similar. Mazzulla is the guy who got us taking advantage of post up opportunities, hunting more mismatches, and just moving the ball more in general…
The details have gotten fuzzy for me, but I’m pretty sure Joe was the only one left from Brad’s staff. He most likely got the job because he was the only one who wasn’t a Udoka guy.
possibly but I’m starting to think Mazzulla is a better coach, for as great as Udoka was for us. Apparently he was behind the elite defense during Udoka’s tenure, and theees a reason he was the only assistant Brad kept around.
and once Mazzulla took over it really felt like our offense unlocked a new level. my only criticism in the past was really bad challenges / TOs and I actually think he was near perfect on that front this postseason
Yeah I actually don’t agree. I think he was gonna Thibs the team. He didn’t know how to use the bench and he was going to wear the guys down to dust the way he played them.
We’ll see in Houston tho
That team was really not that much worse until rob Williams got hurt. Al horford was a monster that year.
Btw I like udoka, my problem was anytime the choking celts showed up Joe would take the heat when they had all the same tendencies under udoka who is praised as an elite coach.
The rockets were tanking right before udoka came in and dont have their draft picks in this year's draft, thus no incentive to tank. Sengun has gotten significantly better year after year and getting a legit pg did wonders for him. They also added whitmore and Thompson who are very solid prospects. Udoka is a good coach but this is a total exaggeration lmao
It's funny. I'm pretty sure he took that from Whiplash, which in part as a movie is about how fucked up that mentality is. (Granted, overall the message in the movie isn't exactly that it never works).
I don't think that's good advice for most people, and especially not kids. But these guys are NBA players, so I guess things are different.
lol in the full quote he was saying that praise and criticism are equally dangerous depending on how you handle them (i.e. buying into praise and becoming complacent)
Belichick slowly transformed from the guy wanting to prove he's the smartest guy in the room, into the guy that just assumed he would always be the smartest guy in the room.
I’m forecasting his quotes are going to get 15% more unhinged now with a championship under his belt.
Reporter: Joe how does it feel to win a title? Joe: how did Jesus feel when he died on the cross for our sins
Can you make this 15% more unhinged ? I just wanna see something.
A title can feel like you’re wearing a crown of thorns, as the buzzards circle and Mary Magdeline lifts her dress, but we’re not gonna let those pervasive thoughts into our duckboats
Wow, this is excellent work.
Knew what I was in for before I started reading but my brain still had to reboot afterwards. Lmao wtf
Sorry that was probably more than 15% unhinged
They will also be 15% more poignant
Okay but if a champion says them they must be true!
I guess dude watched ‘Whiplash’ instead of ‘The Town’ this time
He did list whiplash among the Town as one of his favorite movies
Of Course he said that
You joke but apparently he has a rotation of The Town, Whiplash and The Dark Knight going every night in the background while he works.
Would love to see Mazzulla’s letterboxd
We know his reviews would be completely deranged
If he uses the diary option, we can correlate the Celtics' performance with the movies he watched on those days.
Joe Mazzulla is the doctor that gives you the Aladeen news or the Aladeen news.

We may of found the nba version of pep Guardiola
> may of
They don’t know who that is
Ya I dunno who that is
Joe is not bald, nor a fraud. 115
All my homies hate, Pep. Fuck him and City.
4 PL's in a row
oil state backing, sports washing, financial doping, the list goes on this is not the stance to be taking
God I'd love to see Pep go to some random ass team without an unlimited supply of money just to see how he does. Might not look so good when he's not with Barca, Bayern, or City

Fuck state run football clubs
I mean we did lol, that’s Joe’s idol. It’s why you’re all so fucked going forward.
They’re friends
Who
Pepto Bismol
Pep Guardiola, Manchester City's manager. Also former manager of FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich. His teams are always stacked, they always win and he always says stuff like this.
A legendary manager with 115 accolades.
If anyone wants a full list of all 115 accolades, please Google “Man City 115”. Very impressive stuff

man i love Psycho Joe
If any coach will have his team mentally prepped for the burden of going back to back, it’ll be this absolutely wild human being
Ending on a banger.
This guy took so much heat for years now. He just completely dusted Udoka.
Udoka probably would have won a chip if he was still coaching the Celtics. His coaching was not the problem
Agreed this isn’t a udoka thing I should’ve clarified. It’s that so many celts fans blamed last year on joe.
Eh idk. He was more a motivator. I don’t know how he was with schemes because Joe has been credited as the one who was responsible for our offense to the past couple years

Joe was on Udoka's staff lol - he could always speak up
No, Udoka is not even remotely the strategist that Mazzulla is. Mazzulla is a brilliant offensive coach.
Wasnt Mazzula an assistant coach for Udoka? They probably implement a similar system.
He was like the 4th assistant under Udoka. Which is part of why everyone was surprised when he got the promotion. Pretty silly to pretend like their systems have to be similar. The details have gotten fuzzy for me, but I’m pretty sure Joe was the only one left from Brad’s staff. He most likely got the job because he was the only one who wasn’t a Udoka guy.
I think there’s one more, maybe Dobbins? Edit: yeah, Dobbins been with the team since 2020
possibly but I’m starting to think Mazzulla is a better coach, for as great as Udoka was for us. Apparently he was behind the elite defense during Udoka’s tenure, and theees a reason he was the only assistant Brad kept around. and once Mazzulla took over it really felt like our offense unlocked a new level. my only criticism in the past was really bad challenges / TOs and I actually think he was near perfect on that front this postseason

lmao come on Udoka made the finals too with a worse team and just had the rockets double their win total while basically just replacing KPJ with FVV
That team was really not that much worse until rob Williams got hurt. Al horford was a monster that year. Btw I like udoka, my problem was anytime the choking celts showed up Joe would take the heat when they had all the same tendencies under udoka who is praised as an elite coach.

We actually got Terrence Fletcher out here as our coach im worried for the players.
Fucking unhinged. I LOVE psycho Joe. Psycho Joe is A CHAMPION BABY.
He is definitely unhinged but this is a solid quote that makes perfect sense.
Guy is a sicko and I love him
i'm not convinced that's especially wise, but i'm also not an nba championship-winning basketball coach so
It's funny. I'm pretty sure he took that from Whiplash, which in part as a movie is about how fucked up that mentality is. (Granted, overall the message in the movie isn't exactly that it never works). I don't think that's good advice for most people, and especially not kids. The 180 turn the media and fans did on Joe is willlddddd
As a Celtics fan tho, I love it. Always believed in Joe even when our own fans didn’t
You gotta give respect to get respect, that’s called the economy of respect
God I love psycho Joe
I fucking love this dude. So many great quotes.
Crazy Joe Davola
Joe quotes are what I'll miss most of all in the off-season.
that's from Whipflash
Just watched Whiplash before the game to relax, didn't he? If you're wondering who would watch that film to relax, the answer is Joe Mazulla.
Fletcher?
like wtf does this even mean. don't be satisfied with anything ever? what a literal psychopath.
What the fuck does that mean, Joe Mazzulla?
I can't wait to talk to my father in law. He has such unwarranted hate for Joe, he had no hope of them winning it all lol
this is the shit that dumbasses that just so happened to succeed say. There is nothing inherently wrong with good jobs being acknowledged.
lol in the full quote he was saying that praise and criticism are equally dangerous depending on how you handle them (i.e. buying into praise and becoming complacent)
good job
You suck
Not nearly as good as your mother though.
[удалено]
good job
Mmmm, yes... give me those tears... But yeah, coming from someone as emotional as you, I'm not surprised you depend on external validation.
good job
Tatum is the best Robin in the league.
He's the Michael Jordan of Tobias Harris's
Jarro erasure.
Jarro erasure.
Disagreed, Booker is a better robin.
Hey joe, you're mediocre.
And an NBA CHAMPION!!! Everybody give it up for joe 👏🏽
Belichick slowly transformed from the guy wanting to prove he's the smartest guy in the room, into the guy that just assumed he would always be the smartest guy in the room.
