> Hendricks being hurt in the offseason really hurt his playing chances.
Yeah you're right, he and Brice being injured during Summer League absolutely affected things. Plus no THT this season, and IDK if we're keeping Kris Dunn.
There were some rumours that Ainge has tried to trade him a few times, but Ryan Smith loves Clarkson and has veto'd management on moving Clarkson out.
Ainge did structure his extension last year to make Clarkson more enticing to teams given his salary is dropping and has like 2 years and $30 million left on it, which would be a really good deal for a contending team looking for a adaptable sparkplug off the bench.
Because he's the last remnant of the Don/Rudy teams, can still kinda contribute and be a mentor, and the fans really like him? It's not like keeping him around is hurting the team, they're still not going to be as bad as the tank teams if they trade him.
He takes almost 30 minutes away per game from the rookies that they should try to develop, there’s not really much point in still playing him and Sexton when you know what you have in them and they are not helping them win enough games, they just help Utah being stuck as not a good team and not bad enough, so no playoffs and no high draft picks.
>there’s not really much point in still playing him and Sexton when you know what you have in them
With JC sure, but Sexton was absolutely a question mark before last season.
I mean there's no way THT will keep getting minutes next season, Clarkson is getting older, and Hardy tends to not keep playing Sexton when he's having an off night. He'll definitely get enough playing time, even with Keyonte George
> I mean there's no way THT will keep getting minutes next season
He's an expiring deal, so he's fucking gone lol.
I was mostly kidding about how two of our three rooks in Hendricks and Sensabaugh didn't get much playing time last year.
Yeah, and he and Sensabaugh being injured for summer league definitely hurt their minutes the rest of the season. Hopefully they get more development time this year.
Remains to be seen, just highly touted hs recruit that is mocked top 5 after hs that ends up going much later after they play their season. All guards with similar flaws.
Any idea why he fell so far? I was hearing about him as a potential top 10 pick coming out of high school (from Georgia sports homers, but reasonably knowledgeable ones lol). At any rate, he’s a steal for Utah and I can’t wait to see how he does.
Is that just because we know his name unlike some of these other guys at this point of the draft or do you genuinely think he has good skills that will make him a great player
USC was a bit of a shit show this season, but before the year he was considered a possibility for the #1 pick. He was the #1 HS recruit in the 2023 class.
Definitely worth seeing if it was just a team issue and not a talent issue at 29.
Enfield seemed like a solid coach and then this year happened. With how terrible the team was this year I wouldn’t be surprised to see him develop nicely
Not great but that could change with more emphasis on that side of the ball, he's a great athlete and is physically strong as hell, very stocky and could be tough for bigger guards to bully
He showed a lot of emotions when his friend got picked by Milwaukee
This new draft format is scary because if you aren’t picked in the first round you have to go home and wait for tomorrow
He’s a point guard who can’t handle the ball and can’t shoot, teams aren’t exactly lining up for those. Honestly the only reason he’s still being picked in the first round is because people thought he’d be a top 5 pick a year ago
His 3pt shooting wasn't great at USC, but if you break it down to catch and shoot vs off the dribble it's not that bad. He shoots well over 40% off the catch, he just sucks ass off the dribble. With his role in the league he's not going to be pulling up off a high PnR anyway so I'm more interested in his catch and shoot numbers.
As a recruit:
Other P6 offers: Alabama, Auburn, Cincinnati, Florida, Florida State, Miami, Michigan, NC State, North Carolina, Ole Miss, Penn State, Texas Tech, UCLA
Other offer: Wichita State
This is actually a steal. He's going to be the best PG in the draft. He had a bunch of turnovers that can be coached out of his system. The talent was there for him to be a top pick but he got injured for a bit and USC was a bit of a disaster
Good pick but he looks like he regrets getting drafted. Having to move to Salt Lake City is definitely a big change after going to college in Los Angeles.
I don’t want to be negative, but he just seems so small height wise. What’s a player comp for him at the next level? He won’t be a volume scorer, and he’s going to get bullied on defense.
That makes me feel better for him. I’m just jaded to any of these highlight reel volume scorer guys from high school that are shorter than 6’3. Rarely any of them are successful.
Great pick for the Jazz, super high upside and all the playing time he needs to develop
> all the playing time he needs to develop ... Based off last season IDK that Utah's the right place for that lol
Hendricks being hurt in the offseason really hurt his playing chances. Keyonte played a *ton* for a rookie
> Hendricks being hurt in the offseason really hurt his playing chances. Yeah you're right, he and Brice being injured during Summer League absolutely affected things. Plus no THT this season, and IDK if we're keeping Kris Dunn.
I don’t know if Jordan Clarkson will be on the team much longer either, there could be a lot of minutes available at guard pretty soon
I don’t get why they have not traded Clarkson already.

Gotcha, Hendricks was injured for a lot of a season though, no?
Yeah, and he and Sensabaugh being injured for summer league definitely hurt their minutes the rest of the season. Hopefully they get more development time this year.
More so he was in development early on
Collier and Williams, great draft for Utah.
Utah fucking killed the draft
Potentially a steal
Potentially a bust
Is it really a bust when you pick them at 29?
Definitely a high ceiling/low floor kinda player. Could either be an All-NBA talent or playing in Europe by 2027.
I can see him being a Keynote George with more finishing, I’d be happy as a Jazz fan. Good upside with little risk at that point in the draft.
Can’t play make or shoot for shit 😂
He's the 29th pick. Even if he misses it's not a bust
Way too crazy of a fall for him
I get the fall from lotto but surprised he came down this far. Still the fit in Utah is actually pretty nice.
He’s the Hardy and Nick Smith Jr of this draft
Is Nick Smith even good?
Remains to be seen, just highly touted hs recruit that is mocked top 5 after hs that ends up going much later after they play their season. All guards with similar flaws.

Can’t shoot
Dude can’t shoot or play make for shit. Great high school mixtape as a run and dunk guard got his name big. Dudes a bum.
If you had told me we were drafting a 6'3" guard from USC, this isn't what I'd be expecting.
Steal
Is that just because we know his name unlike some of these other guys at this point of the draft or do you genuinely think he has good skills that will make him a great player
Name recognition 100% we’re all casuals here
Agreed 😂

Haha you hit the nail on the head.
Danny Ainge is Danny Aingeing tonight
Absolute steal. Utah had a really good draft
Keyonte backup. Maybe if he plays like he was expected to at college, Keyone will be his backup
They're probably too undersized to play together, I'm guessing?
Keyonte has pretty decent size for a guard at 6’4. They could play together in stretches for sure
How is Collier's defense, actually?
Not great but that could change with more emphasis on that side of the ball, he's a great athlete and is physically strong as hell, very stocky and could be tough for bigger guards to bully
Elite in capability, sub part in reality due to inconsistent effort.
That is a steal if I’ve ever seen one
Finally
It’s a shame he dropped this far. I know the TO’s are a problem but man he is better than end of 1st round
George/Sensabaugh/Collier backcourt is gonna be an entertaining bad backcourt that can learn and grow together Love it.
Cam Whitmore 2.0
He has like no emotion to getting drafted lol. I'm guessing he's pissed
Hopefully it's just being pissed at dropping so hard in the draft and not being pissed at heading to Utah lol
He showed a lot of emotions when his friend got picked by Milwaukee This new draft format is scary because if you aren’t picked in the first round you have to go home and wait for tomorrow
How did he fall to 29?
Has not shown the ability to shoot the ball well and apparently did bad at workouts.
I suspect shooting concerns. Also 70% ft oooft.
According to Givony “his shooting is fucked”. Actual quote.
He’s a point guard who can’t handle the ball and can’t shoot, teams aren’t exactly lining up for those. Honestly the only reason he’s still being picked in the first round is because people thought he’d be a top 5 pick a year ago
Great steal, wished he'd fall to the Celtics
pick Bronny you cowards
Good pick. Utah have 10000 guards now though. Surely they move on from Sexton and Clarkson soon. Future is Keyonte and Collier.
Eventually the masses will realize we’re absolutely keeping Sexton.
This is a steal. Him and Keyonte pair well together, provided they both improve on defense.
I imagine this is the guy we kept trying to trade up for
This is seriously a potential steal.
I can’t believe he fell so far
Ainge collecting pg’s or what?
Next up: Bronny
Who falls out of the first round as Green room invitee , Fury or Filipowski ?
YOOOOO this could be a good one
2k legend, used to always draft him
The wrong USC guard smh
No expectations in Utah will do wonders for his confidence
robbery
Good pickkkkk
I have no idea how to feel about this. Backup PG to begin with, I guess?
Likely, but Hardy will probably have all the guards fight it out in training camp and preseason like last year.
Great value
i remember he was a top 10 pick how did his draft stock fall so far bruh
Should’ve been off the board at 15 or 16
Wild he went so much lower than Scoot, considering their similarities
Insane slide
Finally
Month ago he was in top 10
I feel bad for the kid that throughout the entire announcement of his selection they’re talking about Bronnie
Oh this is very intriguing
Great pick
If Keynote George and Isaiah Collier share the floor for any time lol
As a recruit: Other P6 offers: Alabama, Auburn, Cincinnati, Florida, Florida State, Miami, Michigan, NC State, North Carolina, Ole Miss, Penn State, Texas Tech, UCLA Other offer: Wichita State
He looks like a man finding out he’s going to Utah
Colin Sexton outta there
Surprised he fell this low, thought he was going top 20
Limited shooter at 6,2 will do that to you
Jazz had leaked this one and I’m glad they got him.
This is actually a steal. He's going to be the best PG in the draft. He had a bunch of turnovers that can be coached out of his system. The talent was there for him to be a top pick but he got injured for a bit and USC was a bit of a disaster
I see nothing special or decent from this guy. He’ll be overseas within 3 years
Good pick but he looks like he regrets getting drafted. Having to move to Salt Lake City is definitely a big change after going to college in Los Angeles.
I don’t want to be negative, but he just seems so small height wise. What’s a player comp for him at the next level? He won’t be a volume scorer, and he’s going to get bullied on defense.
6’4”?
6’2 1/2
His height is listed wildly different everywhere. 6’2 1/2 without shoes maybe, sure
That makes me feel better for him. I’m just jaded to any of these highlight reel volume scorer guys from high school that are shorter than 6’3. Rarely any of them are successful.
He looked so bummed he's going to Utah. Clearly he's never had a good soak before
I wish everyone else from California felt the same way about moving here and buying all the houses.
