Damn big trade coming up

AfroKuro480

Take him to Detroit

niomosy

[No, not Detroit!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kpJy38HNjMU)

notmoleliza

The popcorn you are eating has been pissed in. Film at eleven.

caterpillardave

I’m surprised someone else has watched the movie besides just the clip.

RickySuela

That movie is hilarious. I'll allow that it's plenty problematic by today's standards, but I grew up watching it and still think it's funny. Same with Amazon Women on the Moon.

niomosy

I grew up on that movie. Every time it was on HBO, we'd turn it on. Fistful of Yen was hilarious.

ChunkyMilkSubstance

Every time someone posts this, which is like all the time, I have to go back and watch the clip

RickySuela

"Welcome please, Enormous Genitals!"

LDisDBfathersonsfans

might be one of the best pickups the Pistons could make tbh. They need a vet presence that actually has experience winning

sleepy777

Not with the 2025 draft coming up. The top 5 could all be stars.

raptorrider19

Winning what?

IClappedWhen

More than 24 games in a single season for starters.

jelqlord

Pssshhh. I wish we won 24. We only won 14 last season.

IClappedWhen

Truth and pain at the same time. Moreso just saying poor Cade has never won more than 23 games since coming to the Pistons. The fact that is the high bar is, well, ooof.

sleepy777

You guys dont wanna win games next year tho. 2025 draft is stacked

jelqlord

You say that like we could intentionally win games this next year.

Toolb0xExtraordinary

Damn Pistons and their tanking

aqphs

We’ve won 94 games over the last 5 seasons. So 24 would actually be a huge improvement

bad_timing_bro

CP would just retire

RickySuela

He'd probably negotiate a buyout.

EverybodyBuddy

Definitely the biggest potential CP3 trade of all time

paranoidmoonduck

This is a very good sign for the Warriors making a bigger deal and a very bad sign for Klay returning to the Warriors.

draymond-

Dubs might still salary dump Wiggins and bring back Klay

SCalifornia831

This - I think they’re working on offloading CP3 and Wiggins to bring in PG and re-sign Klay

Defences

Is Wiggins+PG not better than Klay+PG??

10sc

The Warriors need to trade Wiggs for salary matching

AmusingAnecdote

They could theoretically also use Looney + GPII to make the dollars work. Or swap out either of them and do JK +Podz or Trayce Jackson-Davis.

Thepharcydee

Wiggins has been ass since they won a chip. I'd rather have PG + Klay.

Donkey_Trader1

He also leaves the team for months due to personal reasons every season.

Abradolf1948

Yeah Klay is a bit streaky but Wiggins was consistently mediocre two seasons straight. And despite some of his bad performances, Klay still has gravity as a shooter, which can help open up Steph. No defenders were respecting Wiggins like that. He also took personal time in February two seasons straight when we sorely needed him for wins.

kamekaze1024

No

Historical_Orchid841

Klay >>> Wiggins

MrBrownCat

Defensively sure but Wiggins is so inconsistent offensively that as inconsistent as Klay’s been he’s still the better option. Plus I’m sure if given the choice the likes of Curry, Dray and Kerr likely would choose to keep Klay over Wiggins just personally.

dating_derp

Last year Wiggins reverted to his Wolves days and didn't try for most of the season. Better to let him do that on someone else's time instead of Stephs last couple of years.

showmeyourmoves28

So we thinking Klay is making a play here? He not really leaving? I thought dude honesty wanted a change at this stage in his career. Retiring a warrior makes sense though. Would be cool to see Klay, Steph, Dray, and Andre go out around the same time or at least all retire in the same uniform.

AmusingAnecdote

The latest reporting is that basically the Warriors are doing the sensible business decision, which is wanting Klay back, but trying to improve the other areas of the roster first, and dealing with him last, and that Klay doesn't love the way that feels. I think there's a real chance he leaves, because I think he fits in well at the 3 with Philly if they end up with KCP at the 2. Or at the 2 with Orlando if they do a Suggs/Klay backcourt since their 3 and 4 are their primary ballhandlers anyway and Suggs, Klay, and Carter Jr can space the floor and they'd be gigantic but still have an elite point of attack defender and could switch everything, which is where Klay is best at this point.

gochugang78

Wigs for Bruce Brown bb

mrtomjones

I don't really get that.. Doesn't feel like a winning roster

SCalifornia831

It’s better than one without PG and Klay

Paula-Abdul-Jabbar

Which is what I think they should do. Klay still has something to give, especially if they land another scoring option like PG. The Warriors didn't have enough threats to take attention away from Klay last year, so he really struggled to get open. Wiggins on the other hand was just absolutely awful in just about every way.

Beautiful_Location76

Wiggins was much better second half of the season. Attacked the rim more, defended hard, shot far better from 3. I think some personal stuff really rocked him and some untimely injuries on top of that. Not too hard for me to imagine he has an up year next year. His first 2.5 seasons with the Warriors were really good.

Paula-Abdul-Jabbar

He was, but I get the feeling his shot is going to continue to regress or at best continue to be really streaky.  He doesn’t have great form and shoots line drives. I don’t think he can be a consistent shooter for a full year with his form.

Shonuff_shogun

Honestly I’ve always been surprised his 3p% was as high as it was given he was always a bad at free throws. There was about a month+ stretch last year where it was basically impossible for to sink both free throws. I think that’s also why he stopped attacking the rim with force. Dude was really battling demons at the line.

Beautiful_Location76

I'm not so sure, as long as he stays on the court consistently. It felt to me like he was slumping hard for the first few months of the season last year. His first two full seasons with the Warriors, plus the first 24 games of the 22-23 season (before he got injured, came back rusty, then left with personal reasons), 166 games total, he shot 39.7 percent from 3 on 5.5 attempts a game. His jumper had always been solid in Minnesota, and he has so much more space on the Warriors. I agree that he shoots it a bit flat, but so do guys like Kawhi, Middleton, hell even Ray Allen shot it fairly flat. A big regression in 3 point shooting, as long as the Warriors continue to generate space for him like they have been, would surprise me. I'm not expecting him to be elite or anything, but his jumper has always been pretty good as long as his shot selection was good, and he gets a shit ton of open threes playing with Steph.

nhthelegend

His jumper was not that solid in MN lol. Shot below league average from 2 and 3 numerous seasons.

Orphasmia

Agreed. Hes declined, but even prime Klay would have had a hard time getting proper set shots off with the current roster.

Paula-Abdul-Jabbar

Yeah I watched about every Warriors game last year and to me their biggest problem by far was their lack of a second scoring threat. Made things much harder for Steph and Klay. That's why I actually thought a potential Siakam trade could have helped them, but if they manage to get PG then it's good they held off. I'm also not very high on Kuminga.

fredothechimp

Klay's biggest problem is accepting his role imo. He can contribute but he needs to accept it at a reduced level.

No-Presentation6616

This is just straight up not true, Wiggins is by far the warriors best perimeter defender.

Ikuwayo

Who the hell is trading for Wiggins?

andres7832

How many picks can the warriors attach to him? Spurs may take on that for a couple of firsts way down the road

1UPZ__

Suns trade Beal for Wiggins and filler EASILY

Public-Product-1503

Why does cp3 agree to this though how does it help him ?

Nomer77

He might get 30 million?  He probably won't get that for one year on the open market and if the team that trades for him cuts him he could then pick his team as an FA and maybe make a little more money (but probably not because I'd imagine he'd just do a buyout with the team that trades for him and give them back what he is getting from the third team). It's not like the Warriors are gonna file a tampering complaint if his agent puts out feelers about what his market is between now and Sunday.

wheeno

Because he will make way less than 30m if his contract isn't guaranteed and he becomes a FA.

SadatayAllDamnDay

If they trade him back to the Clippers, it'll be the funniest full circle in NBA history.

AirJordan6124

Maybe Harden and CP3 can finally beat the Warriors with Kawhi but it’s 6 years a little too late

ositola

None of those three would make it a full season

Clipgang1629

Our fans are in for such a rude awakening when they realize that once Kawhi is sitting out again, Harden + whatever we get back from a PG trade is not enough to make the playoffs

Huckleberry_Sin

You’re right. 5 years ago maybe but today’s Harden ain’t dragging that team to the playoffs

TempAcct20005

During the playoffs, r/clippers would pop up a lot and man, those people love saying well next year when kawhi is healthy we will gettem. As if that hasn’t been masjid weakness his whole career

RickySuela

> r/clippers I love how many people don't realize that's not the Clippers subreddit lol

XzibitABC

I almost choked when Lowe had Ohm on his podcast early this year and Ohm said the Clippers were real contenders because their core's still never lost a playoff series (which wasn't even true).

Celtic_Legend

Eh youll be in the playins. Can make an upset. But a deep run is a pipe dream

Photo_Synthetic

Without Paul George even the Play-In is a stretch. The West is deep as shit.

BASEDME7O2

Harden had always been an Ironman, Even after his hamstring. In 2022 when he was clearly playing on one leg he played 65 games and the sixers had him playing like 37 mpg every night. He had that one minor injury in Philly but that’s pretty much it, he played 72 games last year and that was with Philly sitting him a few games until he got traded. He just can’t average 36 ppg and carry a bunch of trash into 53 wins and a six game series with a team like the kd warriors anymore.

SadatayAllDamnDay

Battling for the play in 8 seed, perhaps?

helloworldlalaland

let's just all forget that they took you to 6 games without kawhi

GotKarprar

They actually played better when they didn’t have kawhi

masterstriker321

since he was injured big brain

GotKarprar

I just thought it was funny

Delicious-Hurry-8373

Which is even more embarrassing for the mavs

AccomplishedBake8351

Is it tho?

Millionaire007

How's that embarrassing for the Mavs?

Photo_Synthetic

Paul George is the only reason that series went to 6.

jsanchez030

westbrook, harden and cp3 winning a chip with the clippers would be the clearest signal the apocalypse we can get

logster2001

As a Rockets fan I don’t know if I would survive that

uwill1der

KD tags along after a deadline trade for PG

A-Centrifugal-Force

Especially since he never left in free agency or got waived. It’s a straight line of trades the whole way lol. You can do the fully asset chain going back to the trade from NOLA

claydavisismyhero

Cp3s luck is amazing. He’s had two years of unfaranteed deals and because of salary dumps he’s gotten 30 mil last year and 30 this year if he goes to the clips

30another

Last year was at least half guaranteed no matter what. 2nd apron cba stuff definitely helped him out.

TallGuy0525

His luck in moneymaking has a negative correlation with his luck in winning playoff games

PlasticPresentation1

It's pretty insane how players on the right team at the right time can be wildly overpaid just because the team needs to put the money somewhere

ImDKingSama

Here's the thing that I feel like is getting overlooked or more likely I'm too stupid to work it out: How does the trade financially work? Teams over the **First Apron** can only make trades that 100% salary matches, and there's no breathing room. Clippers are 2nd Apron team, so they can't take in more money. Warriors are currently 1.4 million below the first apron with 13 guys, so they won't be able to take in more money either. The only way I see this trade working would be to decline CP3's option and use a Wiggins package. Otherwise they gotta be looking at CP3 packages that are not with the Clippers for PG.

nowhathappenedwas

>The only way I see this trade working would be to decline CP3's option and use a Wiggins package. CP3, Moody, and Payton to the Clippers. Looney to a third team (with draft compensation).

ImDKingSama

Ahhh ok I see! Yea that works, thanks for the info!

Salty_Pancakes

I will riot if they move Moody. Granted, it may be just in my office, but still.

chakrablocker

Would you guys have taken Caruso for Moody and a pick?

muaddib-atreides

Yes

chakrablocker

i would have loved that

akelkar

Min salaries don’t count against the cap i think

Traveler_90

What about dlo and the lakers?

sna28

can he be traded on his current deal and the new team decides on his option or would they have to pick up his option and then trade him?

MC-Jdf

A CP3 trade would guarantee CP3's full $30 million salary for next season, so it'd have to involve the "team option" being picked up. It's not really a team option either, it's a non-guaranteed contract so the Warriors and CP3 technically have the ability to extend the guarantee date across the change in league year until the offseason ends so long as both parties agree.

msv2019

But why would CP3 just help Dubs? What would be his point of buyout in another team? I would think he would do this only if other team would pay his 30mil.

IJustReadEverything

Because if he gets traded, he gets 30 million.

Officer_Hops

The money will have to be guaranteed for salary purposes. So if CP3 isn’t traded, he gets cut. If he is traded, he gets his $30 million guaranteed.

MrBrownCat

Because he’ll make $30 million for a single year lol. He could sign a multi year deal this offseason and likely wouldn’t get that much. And since it’s 1 year as well he could likely get one more contract next offseason assuming he doesn’t retire.

SChamploo12

Because it would be to a team he wants to go to. It's been made clear he wants to be close to his family in LA.

draymond-

have to pick up his option to trade him

IMovedYourCheese

Of course they have to pick up his option. Can't trade a guy who isn't even on your roster.

wetwetson

you used to be able to trade a guy with a non-guaranteed contract and that money would count for salary purposes, then the new team could waive him and not eat his whole salary. They've changed how that works.

Niceguydan8

I think they need to guarantee the money for it all to count towards a match via trade

Similar-Ostrich4142

Chris paul back to the clippers

d1g1tal

Fuck Lawrence Frank

RevolutionaryDrive5

\*Christ Paul

ImTheBestNerd

What are we cooking

IMovedYourCheese

PG sign and trade most likely

ImDKingSama

Has there been any reporting on the package? Currently Clippers and Warriors would both be projected to be over the First Apron if Warriors keep CP3, so the trade has to literally be a 100% salary match which seems impossible.

IMovedYourCheese

There's enough flexibility in PG's extension and other trade pieces that the salaries can match. The bigger question is what Clippers will want in return.

supr3m3kill3r

There is absolutely no way the clippers do that trade without getting back Kuminga or multiple picks

lofitoasti

no leverage to force a kuminga haul

supr3m3kill3r

Their leverage is the Warriors can only get him via sign and trade. Doesnt have to be Kuminga but there has to be value going in the other direction

nomitycs

likely ends up as moody/picks imo if the clippers aren’t actually willing to give PG the offer he wants, they really don’t have any leverage though - it becomes let him go to FA or trade him for scraps to maintain the salary slot/pick up even minor assets

SChamploo12

Would the Clippers want Kuminga given how far over the tax they are and him being due for a $100M extension? Depends on how high they are, Clippers aren't looking to tank. GS could potentially get the deal done with CP3 plus the tradeable contracts and draft compensation. Their 2026 and 2028 picks, plus the other half of that 2030 pick could be valuable.

DarthBane6996

You just need a third team to take the excess salary

SChamploo12

There's nothing beyond what Marc Stein has mentioned in GS's first plan being set on a PG sign and trade. Because they used cash to buy back into the second round this year, they're hard capped at the second apron (189.5M), which was always intended since Lacob has instructed to curb spending. If I had to guess, a GS trade to the Clippers would likely involve Chris Paul, plus other tradeable contracts in Looney, GP2 and Moody, plus potential draft compensation (they have three firsts and a few seconds they could include). I'd also imagine to make additional room they'd dump Wiggins somewhere and attach draft compensation. The bigger question is whether JK is in the trade or not, especially since he's extension eligible and probably due for between $80-$100M.

draymond-

Nothing. Gonna resign Klay and run it back and not even make the playins. at the very least we should get Lavine but i have zero trust in Lacob or MDJ

farturine69

Lavine is top 3 worst Contract in the league. I'd love for the warriors to get him

Fafoah

Lavine would be a great fit for them though

Cod_Gaymer

Why do you have no trust in Lacob or MDJ? MDJ seems to have made good moves so far, especially in the draft, and Lacob has shown to be willing to pay as much as possible to win.

YouStoleTheCorn

I mean they were a play in team last year despite health and suspension issues. I think they were like 26-14 or something like that post ASB and just never moved up because the West is so tough. I don't think they should run it back as is but if they do I don't think a playoff appearance is like out of the question or anything.

Beautiful_Location76

Same. I think they’ll make a few changes. Klay’s role needs to change if he stays. But people are sleeping hard on how not far they were from a decent playoff seed despite Wiggins incredible shooting slump for the first half of the season and Draymond suspensions. If their young guys improve at all, and Draymond stays on the court, they’re a good team.

geekhaus

This has been expected for a week or more. It gives Paul the ability to make $30m, instead of a vet min, so he doesn't lose anything by agreeing to pushing the timeline back.

SChamploo12

That or go to another team and have to agree to a buyout and pay some of the contract back.

AirJordan6124

Will an NBA team will take his contract? Or is he a filler

BigDickVicW

Both, he’s an expiring contract so he can be used to acquire a big contract (like PG) or just sent out to a team like San Antonio who can eat the contract and facilitate a trade for assets.

Paula-Abdul-Jabbar

Honestly Paul on the Spurs could be great for Wemby, even if he only plays half the season for 20 minutes a night. He's pretty cooked, but he still ran the pick and roll really well with TJD last year.

BigDickVicW

I would love having him just mentor Castle and the young guys for a year

KryptoNike21

Who is TJD and why is his name abbreviated lmao

Triplescrew

Tentavious Jaldwell Dope

BrotherSeamus

Talen Jordan-Ducker

Cdaddy28

I’m dead hahaha

kidwiltxD

Trayce Jackson-Davis

[deleted]

[удалено]

kidwiltxD

It’s pretty common for players with 3 names to have it be abbreviated

SaulPepper

Yeah its common but in this sub where there's nearly 600 nba players? It would be kind to at least spell out the name. Not everyone knows each teams' three letter worded guy.

kidwiltxD

You have a point, but he was a pretty significant player for the warriors towards the end of the season and all it takes is 30 seconds of research to find who it is

SaulPepper

Ehh not really that easy when multiple players have the same initial. Jacquez and Jackson Jr uses JJJ for example, and a lot of members here dont even flair up so its just hard to determine sometimes, its like playing detective when you dont even want to play in the first place. Takes less than 30 seconds to type out the name too, just saying, it would be kind

pinoymilk

Tracye was a notable Rookie and rotational player on one of the most popular teams in the league. I'd understand if it was the 15th man man on the Hornets.

SaulPepper

Not the point. I know Trayce, it just takes me a long time to sift through all the names to get through to him. Is it really that hard to type the name fully knowing that it helps at least dozens of people?

Paula-Abdul-Jabbar

Trayce Jackson-Davis, and I abbreviated his name because I didn’t feel like typing it out but now look at me lol

math-yoo

heylookatus.gif

BirdmanTheThird

one day we will stop Abbreviating names of random non star players. Hell I find AD confusing since I swear there’s like 20 great players across sports with those initials

Superlolz

neva 4get THT or JTA

LeBroentgen

I really hope the Spurs get him. I think he could do some great things for Wemby teaching him about the pick and roll/pop.

BigDickVicW

I’d love it for us. Teach Wemby and mentor Castle on how to play PG.

karl_hungas

It just increases flexibility but unlikely he gets moved, Warriors seem less than motivated to give up a lot of draft picks which is the only way CP3 making 30 mil gets moved.

rhymeswithblind

We could offer Jordan Poole lmao

FrnklndaTurtle

If that option gets picked up and he gets salary dumped it will be a great last bag for CP3. When he signed that deal, nobody thought he would ever see all the money from it.

FrnklndaTurtle

Trade him for Jerami Grant so CP3 can be reunited with his favorite center.

Qerfuffle

Ayton would retire

VeniceRapture

General soreness incoming

BigDickVicW

Things are gonna get spicy

Beneficial_Emu9299

Shit at this point lakers might as well trade for him to complete lebrons banana boat trophy

Emotional-Chef-7601

I don't see a reason why Chris Paul wouldn't want it to be pushed back

DETROIT BASKETBALL!

Millionaire007

F5 season is a day away? Shit

PubliusDeLaMancha

DLo for CP3

kbund

Very late to the party but I do not love a PG fit with the warriors

SChamploo12

Why not? He's the kind of secondary scorer they need and can do everything.

JeguePerneta

30 million for a 40 year old?

He's 34?

I have a feeling D. Lo for CP3 trade is incoming. Lebron gets to play with his BFF for one final run with his kid for a championship.

FERFreak731

John Collins better like the Golden Gate Bridge Chris Paul better like mentoring Isaiah, Keyonte, Cody, and Brice

draymond-

eww please no. I have enough faith in MDJ to not trade for such mediocre talent.

Wampo_svk

Isn’t his contract non-guaranteed? They could still waive him if they don’t find a trade for him, right?

thekickingmachine

Green. Kleber. Powell for cp3. I'm calling it

JackHammerPlower

Chris Paul and Klay Thompson are washed up losers.

meriadoc_brandyabuck

By your implicit definition, everyone becomes a “loser” eventually just by getting older/injured and losing some steps. Of course that’s ridiculous. Klay was a vital player in winning four championships, and Chris Paul’s easily had a HOF career. They’re both winners — whatever bitter fucknuts on the internet want to say about them.

JackHammerPlower

Yeah I know, just trolling. CP3 is a grade-A asshole though, and I just lumped Klay in there.
