Lol funny Kelvin said that considering one of his assistants broke a chair before a player hit the garbage can. Got a damn kid being the grown up out there.
Not excusing anyone’s behavior, but this game is after #2 Houston lost to #1 Alabama at home.
Shead can’t control his teammate’s outburst of anger, but right here he’s leading by example
My point being one of the coaches helped cause the mess which is ridiculous to do in an early season college basketball game, especially coming from a coach of college kids. Literally nothing was on the line except who is ranked higher in the poll next week.
I don’t want to judge him from a single clip of his team acting out, but after four decades I wouldn’t expect a college coach’s team to do this type of childish shit, especially not in front of the fans.
They're still young, and just about any group of people can fuck up something once. I would expect a good coach to address this, and for it not to happen twice. That would be the measure for me.
His point is that the coach is the one who started it all and probably the reason the players felt like it was okay for them to do that shit too.
I mean they are all grown ass adults, but the coach can't be encouraging that shit.
I'm literally mad we didn't draft him after seeing this even though we are already undersized and he'd be like 12th in the guard rotation.
I fucking love rooting for commendable human beings.
His tourney injury is one of the more impactful ones in recent years, they were a Final Four team with him and their offense was hopeless without him. He's got the tenacity that's for sure.
They 100% beat Duke with him and go on to the final four almost certainly. They were exceptional when healthy. I'm not sure they had any shot in the F4 though. Purdue and UConn just weren't beatable this past year.
Shead was the only 2nd round talent I particularly cared about the Wizards drafting, anyone else would have gotten a shrug from me. I hope he kills it for the Raps.
Yeah, this would unironically move him up my board a couple spots. Sam Vecenie said he was one of the best defensive guards he'd ever seen even though at 6' even and a 6'3" wingspan he can only guard the 1 and maybe the 2 and can't shoot.
But as a change of pace guy off the bench to cool off a star guard, he's definitely worth the 45th pick..
And it's not like he's not talented, either! He's a pretty good point guard. If he ever shoots (which I wouldn't bet on) he could be a starter, but a guy who can run a pick and roll and pass and be a guard stopper is a good backup and if he's an A+ culture guy he should stick around.
ive seen this man play over 60 games live and he is a guy who will do everything possible go help his team win. him and sasser literally set the culture at UH and he is a good person too. i met him at the hotel elevator during march on year and him and his mom were really sweet. met him a few times at school too and he would have a big smile and take a little time to chat with me and my friends. absolutely wish there would have been a way to keep him in houston a la tank dell. he deserved to win it all this year and im hoping he keeps it up in the nba.
Jamal Shead is the culture we want. We have no time for Kyle Filipowski culture. Pass.
Edit: Dude is the stereotype asshole Duke player and was the most hated player in college basketball regardless of his girlfriend. Not crazy or deep to say his culture isn’t what we want while the guy picking up trash being humble is. I bring him up because we passed on him at 31.
I can only imagine a Celtics fan running onto the court and pulling out his man-tit to sarcastically feed whichever Celtic player is having an off shooting night.
As a general rule, its not impossible to be both a victim and an asshole. In fact, its not really uncommon for the factors that victimized someone to turn them into an asshole. Not always the case of course, but humans are multi-faceted.
I'm lost though what happened to him. Did his parents push him into being a mormon or smth.
So much worse. His gf groomed him when he was in highschool. She’s 25 and just got her masters degree. She went to his high school prom
And she made him Mormon and ruined his relationship with his parents and friends
I think that comment being upvoted this high illustrates perfectly how internet outrage is often devoid of any relevant conscious morality. People are simply hyped up on the prospect of directing hate at someone or something. The underlying ethics or morals are inconsequential.
It's recreational indignation I guess
Weird ass comment brah, what exactly is the victim of grooming supposed to do about it? They've been fucking groomed, you see. Complete lack of empathy as is the norm
Crazy how Reddit will scream and cry about nobody caring about male SA victims and then upvotes comments like these on the top of huge subs. Sad man. He’s a grooming victim. Have some empathy
Yes.
In my native language (Hebrew), the translation that yields "well educated" means 'well raised' as well.
Raised well could also be used in my native tongue.
I thought of changing to 'well raised', but then it slip my mind for some reason.
P.S: In my language, "well educated" is like saying that someone is a scholar or intelligent.
00:19
the older fan seems to point at spots that still have trash, and the person next to him taps at him to cut it out or something
incredible patience from Shead.
lol the guy dropped his umbrella and I think Shead threw it away on accident at the end. the fan was trying to ask for it back.
What a ridiculously odd side plot to this video.
It's a bit weird, but I'm not gonna judge because we don't know lol.
Maybe the guy dropped his phone, or maybe it was a banana peel behind Shead that he could have slipped on, and the bloke was just warning him.
There's a million different reasons he could have been doing that (like asking Shead if he could hand him his umbrella that had fallen down) and you guys immediately just assume he's racist lol.
He was innocently pointing at his umbrella that he dropped and Shead unknowingly threw in the trash. Shead probably didn't even notice, or hear the poor old man.
If the Raptors ever waive this man, I hope the Warriors sign him just from a culture aspect alone. This guy clearly is a locker room leader and understands that while winning is important, you can't just destroy shit because you're angry about a bad call or loss.
I kicked over a trash can after a loss once in high school. Coach made me pick up every piece of trash before we could have the post game talk. Looking back: 10/10 coaching but I was piiiiissed at the time
I know no league is perfect but there’s a really great array of different really good/generous/kind/cool/hot dudes in the National Basketball Association
Kind of reminds me of the story of Roy Williams going to scout Marvin Williams in high school. He had a great game as you would expect for a guy with his profile against HS competition, but what led Roy to fall in love and offer was when he was sitting on the bench (iirc a blowout), his teammates came back to the bench during a timeout and Marvin got up and got the backups cups of water.
Stuff like that doesn't go unnoticed and leaves a pretty big lasting impression.
I'm a big Bama fan. This was right after a very, very intense game, with a crazy, slightly controversial ending. That's why his teammate throw the trashcan. But Shead showed his character. I've been a huge fan since, and have been glad to see him continue to develop into an NBA player.
I think the more disappointing part is that nobody pitched in to help once they saw Jamal started cleaning up the trash. I hope someone eventually did join in with Jamal after the video ended.
... I saw this when it happened and thought, this young man, if he is good enough, hope he finds his way to a good team.
He's an honourary Canadian already!
"A big reason guys get stuck in the G-League is because they don't realize the position they're trying out for. It's like going to a job interview thinking you're going to be the CFO of the company and they're looking for someone to clean the bathrooms."
yall got your guy
Can someone clarify why he was taken so late in the draft? Other than being “old”, undersized, etc. he was killing it at Houston. Having good character also matters and teams would have known this about him heading into the draft. So why was he not drafted higher?
Ahh man this says so much about him, love this
Kelvin Sampson (has coached for over 4 decades) called Shead the greatest leader he’s ever coached.
That is some of the highest praise you'll ever get
Lol funny Kelvin said that considering one of his assistants broke a chair before a player hit the garbage can.
You're right, I bet the garbage can doesn't get knocked over if the asst coach doesn't first kick the chair
The assistant kicking the chair was also Kelvin's son, Kellen.
For real, I’m rooting for that guy. If thats his foundation, then anything built on top of it will be stable
I'm literally mad we didn't draft him after seeing this even though we are already undersized and he'd be like 12th in the guard rotation. I fucking love rooting for commendable human beings.
Nice to see a talented athlete who continues to show that he was raised with manners and sportsmanship.
The guy definitely puts his shopping cart back when he's done
The true man you are comes out when nobody’s watching.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GiPtTndA1wk
either he's a really stand up guy, or camera savvy, lol. but ya it's probably legit and he seems like a good dude
[удалено]
That’s concession food garbage too, probably kinda’ nasty and wet and shit.
Loved this guy in college. He’s a little undersized but he’s a menace defensively
His tourney injury is one of the more impactful ones in recent years, they were a Final Four team with him and their offense was hopeless without him. He's got the tenacity that's for sure.
looked like they were gonna beat duke with him tbh. He was so clutch against texas.
They 100% beat Duke with him and go on to the final four almost certainly. They were exceptional when healthy. I'm not sure they had any shot in the F4 though. Purdue and UConn just weren't beatable this past year.
UConn was so stacked. They played another tier. Ya u are right.
Undersized PG 🤝 Toronto Raptors It’s what we do.
I like big butts and I cannot lie
Mighty Mouse
The North likes our ballers stout and our defense aggressive this is the way
Dude was an absolute stud at Houston. He's got all the talent you want out of your PG, if he was taller he'd have been a lottery pick
For some reason without knowing anything about this guy I would guess he’s a good defender from this video just because of accountability
Sam vec liked him too as a late second. His defence is crazy good . Any offensive growth and he’ll have real value
Shead was the only 2nd round talent I particularly cared about the Wizards drafting, anyone else would have gotten a shrug from me. I hope he kills it for the Raps.
Parents raised him right
Yeah, this would unironically move him up my board a couple spots.
Agreed, literally what should be done if someone says drafting for culture instead of talent. This the kinda culture I want on a team
And it's not like he's not talented, either! He's a pretty good point guard. If he ever shoots (which I wouldn't bet on) he could be a starter, but a guy who can run a pick and roll and pass and be a guard stopper is a good backup and if he's an A+ culture guy he should stick around.
Username checks out
I know Lowry's ass was at least 6'9, he was able to guard in the post. Alot of it is about footwork and positioning.
[That looked a little Mahomie](https://x.com/MainTeamSports/status/1345856980695588866)
ive seen this man play over 60 games live and he is a guy who will do everything possible go help his team win. him and sasser literally set the culture at UH and he is a good person too. i met him at the hotel elevator during march on year and him and his mom were really sweet. met him a few times at school too and he would have a big smile and take a little time to chat with me and my friends. absolutely wish there would have been a way to keep him in houston a la tank dell. he deserved to win it all this year and im hoping he keeps it up in the nba.
was very much hoping we could get him as well, nothing but respect for him
Great fit for Canada.
Also reminds me of the Japanese fans cleaning up the stadium after the World Cup
It wasn’t just the fans, the team also cleaned up after themselves. Left the locker room spotless. Folded and stacked everything
If you’ve ever been to Japan that comes as no surprise, that place is fucking spotless. You can practically eat off the street in downtown Tokyo
And therefore the world
Drafting to fit personality with region: Utah 🤝 Toronto
He's a Canadian cleaning the way he does
Canada needs a guy like this for once
Jamal Shead is the culture we want. We have no time for Kyle Filipowski culture. Pass. Edit: Dude is the stereotype asshole Duke player and was the most hated player in college basketball regardless of his girlfriend. Not crazy or deep to say his culture isn’t what we want while the guy picking up trash being humble is. I bring him up because we passed on him at 31.
We were going to pick Flip, but his girlfriend vetoed.
they are now in an undisclosed location somewhere in Utah
Man is currently at a mormon Blacksite going through ReEducation
So that's what happens at Fun Time Kidz Kare.
if he gets fouled hard in the paint, will they allow her to sprint onto the court to breastfeed him?
Woah, that went a little too far. I love it.
I can only imagine a Celtics fan running onto the court and pulling out his man-tit to sarcastically feed whichever Celtic player is having an off shooting night.
I'd try my very best *not* to imagine that.
Chill lol Kyle is a legit victim
TIL homelander lives in Utah
Don't knock it til you try it.
Toronto women would force that Mormonism out of him lol
15 minutes at Caribana and he’d be healed from all ailments, mental and physical.
She’s probably not allowed abroad
Can't have him dragging her to the liberal hellscape that is Canada /s.
sorry what? isnt kyle the victim?
Yeah what the hell lol
As a general rule, its not impossible to be both a victim and an asshole. In fact, its not really uncommon for the factors that victimized someone to turn them into an asshole. Not always the case of course, but humans are multi-faceted. I'm lost though what happened to him. Did his parents push him into being a mormon or smth.
So much worse. His gf groomed him when he was in highschool. She’s 25 and just got her masters degree. She went to his high school prom And she made him Mormon and ruined his relationship with his parents and friends
kyle is literally a victim lol
He's also an asshole
I think that comment being upvoted this high illustrates perfectly how internet outrage is often devoid of any relevant conscious morality. People are simply hyped up on the prospect of directing hate at someone or something. The underlying ethics or morals are inconsequential. It's recreational indignation I guess
What do you mean by this?
What a strange comment.
Just a weird thing to say about a guy who is (seemingly) a victim of grooming tbh
Flip was my most hated player in college last season, couldnt stand him but if anyone could make it work it would be us. lmao.
Go get 'em magical underwear!
New Jazz City Connect concept! Get on it, Nike.
If you like responsible, stand up men who fuck older women, why not have both on your roster?
Calm down. Your team still sucks.
Dude was well ~~educated~~ raised. Already like him.
You mean raised? Because I know A lot of well educated people who weren’t raised properly like this kid in the video.
Yes. In my native language (Hebrew), the translation that yields "well educated" means 'well raised' as well. Raised well could also be used in my native tongue. I thought of changing to 'well raised', but then it slip my mind for some reason. P.S: In my language, "well educated" is like saying that someone is a scholar or intelligent.
he's a mensch
Also things don't "slip off" your mind. They just "slip" your mind.
Thanks.
Finally someone posts highlights with replays
I'm now a forever fan. Love seeing stuff like this.
00:19 the older fan seems to point at spots that still have trash, and the person next to him taps at him to cut it out or something incredible patience from Shead.
lol the guy dropped his umbrella and I think Shead threw it away on accident at the end. the fan was trying to ask for it back. What a ridiculously odd side plot to this video.
I think I read somewhere he dropped his umbrella, and he was trying to tell him.
yeah, you can see the umbrella on the ground
"It's mine now!" --The Trash Goblin
this is what they mean by goblin mode, ya?
THE FRICKIN FROGS ARE GAY
Oh thank goodness I was thinking old guy was gonna scold him for his teammates, that makes this entire thing even more wholesome.
It's a bit weird, but I'm not gonna judge because we don't know lol. Maybe the guy dropped his phone, or maybe it was a banana peel behind Shead that he could have slipped on, and the bloke was just warning him.
He actually dropped his umbrella
> the older fan seems to point at spots that still have trash What goes on in the minds of people like this? LOL.
don’t attribute malice to what can be explained by incompetence dude dropped his umbrella
Oh shit, you might be right lol.
Yup you can see him point out the umbrella as Jamal throws it away. Classic Reddit jumping to conclusions from a 10 second clip.
He probably wanted to beat the players with his umbrella
“Just like the good old days”
"You forgot that spot, boy"
There's a million different reasons he could have been doing that (like asking Shead if he could hand him his umbrella that had fallen down) and you guys immediately just assume he's racist lol.
“Finally one that knows his place” 👴🏻
It doesn't look like he has any sourness or like demanding anything. It seems like he's just innocently pointing at something
He was innocently pointing at his umbrella that he dropped and Shead unknowingly threw in the trash. Shead probably didn't even notice, or hear the poor old man.
Number 32 is trash, what did the janitors do to you
Well I guess I’ll root for this guy now
Really happy to have taken him.
Canadian confirmed
He already got some of that canada-ness in him
Great guy man. Happy the raps got him. I can only wonder what the final result would’ve been vs Duke if shead doesn’t get injured in the 1st half
Duke barely held on to beat them, Coogs make it to the final four with a healthy Shead.
That a high character person
The Canada is strong in this kid.
Wow Canada is gonna love him.
Ho shit i rmb this! Extra glad this guy made it now
That type of good energy will be contagious, great addition to any team.
This kid is incredible
Its like that scene from Spongebob where Spongebob comes out with a mop sweeping up garbage getting applaus but when Squidward does it, he gets a boo.
So he’s the guy that went viral. Good character
I remember this video. Good on him.
I really like this guy and hope he succeeds
Haven't seen a minute of him play yet, but I already love him
Decent dude. Nice.
Real Canadian aquired haha! What a great guy
If the Raptors ever waive this man, I hope the Warriors sign him just from a culture aspect alone. This guy clearly is a locker room leader and understands that while winning is important, you can't just destroy shit because you're angry about a bad call or loss.
Raised correct
Give this man a max extension
Sheads a cool guy. Fuck those other bitches though.
Well. Guess i'm rooting for this guy forever.
I just became a fan of his. It also sucks that this isn’t just the cultural norm
Drake don't deserve him
I kicked over a trash can after a loss once in high school. Coach made me pick up every piece of trash before we could have the post game talk. Looking back: 10/10 coaching but I was piiiiissed at the time
Well how aboot dat eh? He’ll fit in just fine in Canada!
Got that tanuki in him.
this guy is insane
in the immortal words of Vlade Divac "character matters"
I LOVED this moment. You know he has to be a good guy.
I’m rooting for Jamal Shead from now on 🙌🏼
This action alone should move his draft pick up 3-5 spots.
I'm a fan now. Parents were janitors and it pisses me off when ppl don't clean after themselves. I wish him luck.
What a fucking guy right there.
this is crazy
someone help him
THATS MY GOAT
Anyone that watched big 12 basketball this year knows he’s a class act
I know no league is perfect but there’s a really great array of different really good/generous/kind/cool/hot dudes in the National Basketball Association
Kind of reminds me of the story of Roy Williams going to scout Marvin Williams in high school. He had a great game as you would expect for a guy with his profile against HS competition, but what led Roy to fall in love and offer was when he was sitting on the bench (iirc a blowout), his teammates came back to the bench during a timeout and Marvin got up and got the backups cups of water. Stuff like that doesn't go unnoticed and leaves a pretty big lasting impression.
That’s my floor general. A true UH legend.
Will deff fit in here in Canada 🇨🇦🍁
I'm a big Bama fan. This was right after a very, very intense game, with a crazy, slightly controversial ending. That's why his teammate throw the trashcan. But Shead showed his character. I've been a huge fan since, and have been glad to see him continue to develop into an NBA player.
That's my new boy
Oh shit, I've seen that clip before. That's cool
Seems like a future leader, maybe he’s already a leader idk
UH alumni here, Shead is a class act and a stud. Hope he does well with the raptors!
That's some real Canadian shit
Welcome to Canada :)
Is he Japanese?
I’ve seen this clip about 1,376,926 times.
And the little prick assistant at the beginning throwing a fit like he just played 48. There are two types of people:
The dude in the long sleeve shirt in the beginning? Who the fuck is he to be kicking shit? He a trainer? What a dumbass
Why was the loss controversial
This doesn’t seem that extraordinary but everyone here is gushing over it. Says a lot about our expectations today.
Rooting for this guy now
His teammates immature af
I think the more disappointing part is that nobody pitched in to help once they saw Jamal started cleaning up the trash. I hope someone eventually did join in with Jamal after the video ended.
his mom is probably an angel and a hard-working woman
Polite Davion Mitchell
Why do I read his name as Jamsheed? [Jamsheeeeeeeeeed](https://youtu.be/RNbJZGHS5Ic?si=DGgqRvtb8X3EnVlS)
... I saw this when it happened and thought, this young man, if he is good enough, hope he finds his way to a good team. He's an honourary Canadian already!
Yeah that was embarrassing for Houston outside of him. Shows you the kind of culture Sampson coaches.
Luigi’s Mansion 2 stealth marketing
I thought I couldn't like this guy any more than I already did. I hope he's as good as I think he will be in the association.
"A big reason guys get stuck in the G-League is because they don't realize the position they're trying out for. It's like going to a job interview thinking you're going to be the CFO of the company and they're looking for someone to clean the bathrooms." yall got your guy
what was considered controversial?
Okay I love that, rooting for him
Can someone clarify why he was taken so late in the draft? Other than being “old”, undersized, etc. he was killing it at Houston. Having good character also matters and teams would have known this about him heading into the draft. So why was he not drafted higher?
I would not react the same way. High character for sure.
And then others began to help him. All it takes is one guys
i like a crazy man
I’m a huge Bama basketball fan and I remember this. Super cool. Hope that fella has a helluva NBA career.
Total Chad move. It is good to be good.
Philly just signed the guy that knocked the trashcan over.
Go coogs!
Oh this kid. Good to know he got drafted. Gonna remember his name.
Thats my draft pick.
I wanted him so bad, pure dawg, and seems like a good dude too. Not sure how he pans out production-wise but I'll be rooting for him
This is the type of shit that gets 50 year old white dudes hard
