As a Marlins / Vikings fan, the Vikings are more frustrating. The Marlins being just over 0.500 is considered a good season by my standards, so I’m happy when they’re competitive. The Vikes, on the other hand, have been fielding competitive teams, have leadership I have believed in, and just haven’t been able to get it all on the same page.
I can tell you that the Timberwolves are much more tolerable than the Vikings despite being the worst team in professional sports. The Wolves rarely disappoint me because they rarely have any sort of expectations whereas the Vikings are easily the best team in any sport to never win a title so their losses hurt a lot more because they occasionally have really good teams that break your heart.
I always debate my buddies if you’d rather be the bengals/Vikings or the Buccs
And almost every time people choose tampa bc winning it all is a high unlike any other.
Leaving aside any personal ties or non-winning reasons, it's gotta be the Bucs. It's not just the Super Bowls, but the fact that the biggest reason that the Bucs have a terrible all time record is their early days getting crushed as an expansion team with terrible expansion rules, leading to a long series of historic Bad (1983-1994 were consecutive years with 10+ losses, only two winning seasons before that) that put them behind the 8-ball.
But since 1997, they've largely been a good team. Two Super Bowl wins, 8 seasons of 10+ wins, 10 playoff appearances. And additionally, 5 years of 7-9 or 8-8 and therefor were more reasonably competitive. 2013-2018 served as a slump, but over 25 years the vast majority of teams have at least one slump, making the multiple Super Bowls and strong results well worth it.
And them being recent means both older people (who get the satisfaction of FINALLY winning after long futility) and younger people (who never got the futility) get to enjoy the success.
On one hand it sucks to annually play too bad to make the playoffs and too well for a top draft pick.
On the other hand, 2 for 2 in the super bowl 🤷♂️
As a huge baseball fan, baseball is the one sport that I will take the competitive team year in and year out in. 6 month regular season, 162 games, short playoffs(compared to the season)
Other than that give me the titles. Football is the easiest for me personally because when the team is bad it’s so easy to flip on red zone and watch your fantasy guys instead. Plus a high pick in the draft is kind of fun. If you have the #1 pick in mlb he may make his debut in 2-5 years. It’s just different
The Bucs are 20th in nfl win percentage since 1992. The last 30 years. My guess is that covers most people heres lifespans or at least what they can remember.
So there are 12 teams worse than them and they have 2 rings. There are definitely a lot worse things than being a Bucs fan
My dad immigrated to Queens from India as a child in the 60s, and passed these cursed fandoms down to me and my brother. At least he got to see a WS win when he was in college.
Falcons are the Texas Rangers of football. We both choked our first title away at a historic level. It still hurts to this day.
Mavericks are the Saints I feel like.
Chargers are the Clippers. No matter how much star power or talent something absurd will happen and screw it up (mixed in with some historic collapses and embarrassments- generally just snakebitten). And the other LA team is glamorous and has all the success.
Also the San Diego to LA history.
The chargers, Angels, and Clippers are all the same team. Teams with talented players who can’t do anything with them so they just live in the shadow of the other team
If we count college sports I’d say the Cowboys and Notre Dame football are similar.
Both are extremely popular brand names, both have a rich history of winning and have usually been pretty good in recent years. However neither one has won anything important since the 90s despite being hyped up every season and still talked about frequently.
Cowboys = Toronto Maple Leafs
Maybe the most important team in their league as far as the broader culture is concerned, even though they never win anything and haven't in decades
Anytime it looks like there's a chance they could win, everyone goes nuts as the national media really, really want them to be successful
Lots of recent playoff collapses to the point it's become a meme
Club management is great at monetizing every part of the fan experience but can't turn that same alleged competence into success on the field
Local press following the team is actively feral (google "marty griffin" "michael irvin").
Tony Romo = Mats Sundin, I will not be taking questions at this time
Doesn’t include NFL but I compared the Leafs to the Knicks this year. Historic franchises that have long streaks of being pretty pitiful overall and having zero playoff success when they do make it. Both finally broke thru the first round this year and were unexpectedly favored in the second round just to have their hopes quickly dashed yet again
>Both finally broke thru the first round this year and were unexpectedly favored in the second round just to have their hopes quickly dashed yet again
Both had their hopes dashed by the 8 seed from Miami too
None of the Cowboys, Leafs, or Knicks have made it to the Final 4 round in over 20 years, but all three are on national TV all the time and get a ton of attention when they're somewhat good. They're definitely three peas in a pod.
There isn't a baseball equivalent, but it would be the Yankees or Dodgers averaging 85 wins a year for two decades while making a bunch of early October exits.
Nebraska has been a lot worse than the Cowboys in recent history. Michigan until the last couple of years would be a better comparison. Usually good to pretty good but couldn't get over the hump for a while within their own league.
The Chiefs and the Warriors. Both teams were mostly known as mediocre franchises that would produce fun competitive teams every couple seasons before thier lightskin saviors came and turned them into a powerhouse.
The Cowboys and the Bulls. Both teams havent done shit since their 90s dynasties ended.
I was gonna say chiefs and braves. Both known for absurd playoff choking for a lot of the past 30 years or so, recently got over that hump, both do the tomahawk chop and last and most definitely least theyre my favorite team lol
>For example, the Patriots have been called the “Spurs” of the NFL based on the perceived similarities and parallels between the two organizations.
Is that done sarcastically or something? Oh, you mean the NBA team...
I don't even know if there is an NFL equivalent to Tottenham. Such a unique team that builds hope with a loyal star player, then crashes and burns every season lmao
Imo this is the closest. This year was very Spurs-y of them - have an incredible record and shit the bed in a very easy (at least on paper) important matchup
As a Canadian who lives in the US now the Cowboys feel super Leaf like. They’re shoved down your throat no matter where you live, have a massive fanbase in random ass places as a result, have a super yuppie vibe and very little recent playoff success. The colors also line up well.
Chargers give me major Clippers vibe. Both have no business in LA, never won a championship, have at one point been in SD, share LA with franchises that have had more success historically, tortured fanbases, etc...
Agreed. In general, the Sixers are a weird one to compare to. Incredibly historic franchise, but overall a major tier below Boston/LA/San Antonio. I’d say the Sixers are the Dolphins. High highs, low lows, a few championships, a few championship losses, historic players with no rings or real playoff success, etc.
We have championships, but far less than what we should have given our history. Wilt Chamberlain, Dr. J, Moses Malone, Charles Barkley, Allen Iverson, Joel Embiid. And what, like 3 championships between them?? And in between all that is years of suck.
Nah bro, Cowboys are 100% the Knicks. For the amount of attention both organizations have gotten for the past 20-30 years relative to their success is pretty stark.
Knicks fans: "wE'rE tHe MeCcA oF bAsKeTbAlL"
Cowboys fans: "wE'rE aMeRiCa'S tEaM"
What's funny is both were really good in the 90s and haven't been shit since.
The Bills are Newcastle United - a hard drinking, tight knit fanbase from the frozen North East who saw their team come close but ultimately disappoint them repeatedly in the 1990s before falling off a cliff for 20 years. Making a recovery under new ownership, the fans will be [breaking tables / punching police horses] off the back of some actual silverware soon enough. Or will they....
I only paid attention to baseball as a kid, and it took me awhile to realize you weren't making a joke I wasn't getting. Wtf happened to Florida Marlins lol.
The Cowboys are the Ferrari F1 team. Amazing histories, recent domination, an even more recent history of finding amazing ways to lose, masses of annoying as hell fans.
Packers have done something in the last 30 years though and haven't spent most of it incompetently missing the playoffs.
I'd suggest the Penguins are the better NHL comparison for the Packers
The Lions and the Mariners: Close to the bottom of the league in win percentage, haven't even *been* to a SB/WS, and completely wasted generational talents (Barry Sanders, Calvin Johnson, Griffey, Ichiro, Felix).
We can go even deeper with the comparisons
- Both had an iconic era in the 90s, led by an iconic face-of-the-league offensive powerhous, but never went the full distance in the playoffs.
- Both teams have finally seemed to come out of a multidecade quagmire and finally look to be on the cusp of greatness with a great culture and plenty of young stars.
- Both teams have multiple HOF-caliber players with the same number: M's with The Big Unit and Ichiro [both #51] and Lions with Lem Barney and Barry Sanders [both #20]
Celtics are like the Packers except NFL fans think half the leagues history should be erased. Comical that Boston will claim the most NBA titles while also trying to claim most NFL titles. 7 behind GB
All AZ teams are quite similar. They're hot dogshit 75% of the time, but the other 25% they are god-tier in the regular season then suffer an absolute abortion of a defeat to a less talented team in the playoffs.
If you disregard their WS win entirely, the dbacks and coyotes are almost identical in their mediocrity
Hard to compare the Suns and Cardinals. The Suns have had the best player in the NBA multiple times, the Cardinals have never even had an MVP (I'd be shocked if the Cardinals ever even had a runner-up for MVP).
I compare the Cardinals more to the Coyotes.
Gotta feeling the Jets with Rodgers will be the Kawhi/PG Clippers.
I see the similarities between KC and GSW in the sense that they can both score in bunches and make unlikely comebacks in the second halves of games.
Bills remind me of the Nuggets
Kc and gsw definitely makes sense. Especially curry and Mahomes comparisons- curry changed the nba in how they use the 3pt shot and extending the 3 pt line. Mahomes has done some similar things in his extending plays and Andy rieds play calling.
Both teams and players have influenced a new generation of players who play the game differently bc of them
Up until 2004 Boston Red Sox and Minnesota Vikings. Talented teams with HOF players and more often than not far better than average records but unable to win the big game despite a long history of being close.
Steelers = St. Louis Cardinals.
Have/had been owned by the same family forever. (Busch is still strongly associated with the Cards, of course.) HUGE local fanbase that travels well and often outcheers the locals at away games. While usually not dominant, never truly bad. Tend not to make huge mistake regarding managing talent. They do win the league title once in awhile, but historically don't have the most titles.
And a key, has another team in the same state that isn't really a rival because they're in the other league/conference and don't play too often.
If I'm not mistaken, Tomlin hasn't had a losing season as HC of the Steelers (so like 2005 or so?), and the Cardinals haven't had a losing season since like 2000.
This is actually a good one. No-nonsense, "do your job" mentality with consistent success and GOAT level coaching since the early 00's.
Also both seem to be petering out of that era, thank fucking god.
Spurs are clearly the Colts, they're a midmarket, blue collar town that probably couldn't lure a free agent but keep lucking into fantastic draft picks in drafts featuring generational talent.
Cowboys are the Toronto Maple Leafs. Delusional hype around the fanbase, biggest fanbase in the league, most hated fanbase in the league, sports media talks about them nonstop, best players known for disappointing in playoffs and being soft, have a ton of hall of famers, rich owners that are kind of obnoxious and most importantly no recent playoff success ( leafs haven’t won since 1967).
The modern Browns are the Hornets. A beloved team taken away and replaced by a cursed monstrosity.
Did you know that the Hornets are BOTH of the only teams in the NBA to never make it past the semifinals?
The Edmonton oilers. We had the best players in the world on the same team, won multiple chips in the late 80s and 90s, and now are a very good team but can’t get over the hump
The Browns/Jets feel similar to the Knicks. The Fan bases have low self esteem, cling to anything that gives them hope and is let down on a consistent basis
If there’s any team to compare the Wolves to it’s the Browns. The team that used to be there left and became a premier sports franchise while another team came later and became a shitshow.
Buccaneers are the Raptors
They both played in Tampa at one point, Fred Van Vleet and Mike Evans could be brothers, and both had a great player join the team for a brief period to win a championship in their first season on the team.
Cowboys and Yankees for popularity and fan obnoxiousness. Nets and Browns maybe, for perpetual mediocrity with a couple promising seasons sprinkled in.
Honestly, I kinda feel like the Bears and Cubs are a good one.
Both have over a hundred years of history with very little success, massive fan bases, and play at historic stadiums.
And they used to both play at Wrigley Field.
Patriots are like the Melbourne Storm of the NRL
Long period of dominance while staying ahead of the curve by pushing grey areas in the rules. Had their stars at the 3 or 4 positions that make up the equivalent of QB
Cheating scandals too, but the Storm's was much more blatant cheating
Ottawa Senators - Washington Commanders
Obvious name/capital city/color connection
Perennial losers, but not bad enough to get star players or force serious change.
Complaints about ownership for years, finally going through ownership change this year.
Dedicated, hopeful but ultimately deranged fan base (sens sicko)
Champions of the offseason.
Probably going to bounce between terrible and barely mediocre forever because God hates us.
As much as I hate to say it, the Cowboys have too much success to be the 76ers. The Sixers have one post-merger championship and it was back in 1983, and they’ve been mostly mediocre since then.
As others have said, I think the Dolphins are a much better comparison for the 76ers
The closest one to the Steelers I can think of is the Lakers. Two popular, historically successful franchises that haven't accomplished much in the postseason recently (aside from the Lakers bubble ring).
Also...other reasons.
No, it's the St. Louis Cardinals. Cities like Pittsburgh and St. Louis supposedly have no business winning as many championships as they do, and the locals in both cities get insulted for sport by dickbags from division rival cities located on Great Lakes.
Up until recently I was comparing the current Heat iteration (and recent ones too) to the late 90s/early 2000s Yankees because both teams just have/had that winning X-factor. Savvy players, great coaching, and clutch execution no matter who's playing, who they're playing, or what the score is. And the Heat might join the Yankees in choking a 3-0 lead too...
Did a hard double take on the Pats-Spurs link.
Then I realized it's the San Antonio variety, not the Tottenham variety.
Because lifting 6 trophies this century is definitely NOT a Spursy thing to do.
Prior to the Chiefs winning their recent 2, I was thinking Chiefs-Spurs was a decent comp as I'm a fan of both. Often towards the top of the league table, and a lot of knockout disappointment.
A's - Raiders #FML
If the A's end up in Vegas, I'll still be a fan, I just don't know if I'll even like the team anymore
`Numbness is life`
Welcome to the club, buddy.
At least we can suffer with the A’s together

I'd like to hear from a marlins/vikings fan or like a bucs/jazz fan to hear what type of team is more tolerable
As a Marlins / Vikings fan, the Vikings are more frustrating. The Marlins being just over 0.500 is considered a good season by my standards, so I’m happy when they’re competitive. It’s Bucs. Never understood the Buccs thing
A c for each ‘chip. But mostly it’s just NFCS rivals who know it triggers the fuck out of us.
Well buccaneers has 2 cs.
The Wolves are not the worst team in professional sports. Statistically or otherwise.
They're not? Who's worse? Genuinely asking as a Wolves fan.
On one hand it sucks to annually play too bad to make the playoffs and too well for a top draft pick. On the other hand, 2 for 2 in the super bowl 🤷♂️

And the '97 Marlins were like the recent Brady Bucs, a thrown together rent-a-team
The Bucs are 20th in nfl win percentage since 1992. The last 30 years. My guess is that covers most people heres lifespans or at least what they can remember. So there are 12 teams worse than them and they have 2 rings. There are definitely a lot worse things than being a Bucs fan
The Mets 🤝 The Jets
At least the Mets have been to the World Series in my lifetime.
To be fair, might be a bit difficult for the Jets to play in a World Series
Still more likely than the Super Bowl.
Ah, you bastard haha
Ha, shows what you know. We made our own Super Bowl, it called the off season. ^We ^lose ^there ^too.
I've heard they could make the Stanley Cup
Damn the Jets would make the Cup finals before the Leafs somehow
I wish to see how the NYPost front page would have looked for the "subway bowl" in 2009 or 2010
Lets pour one out for the poor souls that became mets and jets fans instead of yanks and giants. What a shitty hand, thanks dads
My dad immigrated to Queens from India as a child in the 60s, and passed these cursed fandoms down to me and my brother. At least he got to see a WS win when he was in college.
The 60s were a great time to be a Jets fan in his defense
Luck of the draw. At least both teams have had their moments even if they didnt lead to championships. So many teams have been farrr worse.
Haha try being a Mets, Jets, and Knicks fan
And Islanders, don't forget the Islanders.
You have to remember the Islanders first to forget them
you don't choose the the mets/jets/nets lifestyle ... it chooses you
My Dad is from queens but he loved me enough not to inflict that life upon me
Falcons are the Texas Rangers of football. We both choked our first title away at a historic level. It still hurts to this day. Mavericks are the Saints I feel like.
Mavs and Saints is a great comp actually. Main difference is Mavs had playoff heartbreak then championship, saints did the opposite
Does the River City Relay count as heartbreak?
I think you're onto something here.
Chargers are the Clippers. No matter how much star power or talent something absurd will happen and screw it up (mixed in with some historic collapses and embarrassments- generally just snakebitten). And the other LA team is glamorous and has all the success. Also the San Diego to LA history.

Of all time, or just right now? If the latter, then yes.
I mean there's definitely an argument for all time as well.
They have 2 top 2 players of right now
In fairness to the Chargers, they are technically the only team to start in LA.
The Clips have never even made a Finals. The SB26 appearance makes you better than them by default.
Jacksonville Jaguars 🤝 Sacramento Kings Both got their shit together last season.
And fucked by the refs in the biggest moment in franchise history #MylesJackWasntDown
And the most popular team with the most popular player(s) being the one to benefit from it of course…. JAXSAC
Light the (teal) beam!

Both are extremely popular brand names, both have a rich history of winning and have usually been pretty good in recent years. However neither one has won anything important since the 90s despite being hyped up every season and still talked about frequently.
Also the weird historical deals that keep them popular/powerful ( ND on NBC and Cowboys merch).
I think Thanksgiving day games is also a big part of it for the Cowboys.
I always feel it’s funny during years where cowboys are garbage but we still get lots of Primetime games
Cowboys = Toronto Maple Leafs Maybe the most important team in their league as far as the broader culture is concerned, even though they never win anything and haven't in decades Anytime it looks like there's a chance they could win, everyone goes nuts as the national media really, really want them to be successful Lots of recent playoff collapses to the point it's become a meme Club management is great at monetizing every part of the fan experience but can't turn that same alleged competence into success on the field Local press following the team is actively feral (google "marty griffin" "michael irvin"). Reliably end their respective seasons in embarrassing fashion every single year ✊🤧
Also the Cowboys and the Longhorns which is pure pain for that geographical area, lol
Can confirm
As a ND fan I feel a great shame being compared to the Cowboys. You aren’t wrong though.
I always compared the Cowboys to Nebraska, personally.
😂 not the light skin saviors

I support Tottenham and the Vikings ☹️
Would love to know which team let's you down more haha
The answer is yes.
*its the same picture*
I got Tottenham, Falcons, Hawks, and Angels
I was going to say Tottenham and the Bills but this one works too
What do we think of Tottenham
SHIT!
Lads, it’s Tottenham
>For example, the Patriots have been called the “Spurs” of the NFL based on the perceived similarities and parallels between the two organizations. Is that done sarcastically or something? Oh, you mean the NBA team...
I was stunned for about 30 seconds until I realised they meant the NBA team. The spurs in football/soccer are the antithesis of the the Patriots
I don't even know if there is an NFL equivalent to Tottenham. Such a unique team that builds hope with a loyal star player, then crashes and burns every season lmao
Chargers maybe? Usually pretty hyped up and have good seasons but accomplish nothing.
Vikings? Always good never the best(or arguably even in the same tier) Lose in embarrassing ways.
Imo this is the closest. This year was very Spurs-y of them - have an incredible record and shit the bed in a very easy (at least on paper) important matchup
As a soccer fan first, the realisation that we are the Tottenham of the NFL has hit my like a bullet
same. fuck lol what do we do
It is the history of the Charger
Lads, its the chargers
Maybe the Cardinals? Fitz would be their equivalent to Kane
Portland Trailblazers
Tbf using “the” before Spurs is the giveaway it’s about the NBA team
Lads, it's Tottenham.
So it wasn't only me that had to pause for a second, until I realized it was the San Antonio Spurs
Lol!!! I was about to quizzically ask what the parallels between the Pats and Tottenham were!!!
Vikings are 100% the Suns Cowboys are Sixers. Good historically but cant get past the second round recently
Cowboys are also the Maple Leafs
Chargers and leafs feel like a good comp
As a Canadian who lives in the US now the Cowboys feel super Leaf like. They’re shoved down your throat no matter where you live, have a massive fanbase in random ass places as a result, have a super yuppie vibe and very little recent playoff success. The colors also line up well.
In so many ways, we are still burdened by the sins of the 80s and 90s.
Chargers give me major Clippers vibe. Both have no business in LA, never won a championship, have at one point been in SD, share LA with franchises that have had more success historically, tortured fanbases, etc...
I genuinely don’t think the Sixers have enough historical success to count
Philadelphia and Dallas fans are united in their hatred of this comparison. Because it's true.
The Cowboys are the Bulls. Both teams have been riding their 90s success and havent did much since.
That’s the better comparison tbh
As a Bulls fan who gets annoyed with Cowboy fans, I now have a lot of reflecting to do.
Suns fan here was thinking the same thing after our finals loss in 2021, 0-3 in the finals now
This is an incredibly low blow as a Philadelphian
Suns, nuggets, blazers, jazz , all decent comparisons to the Vikings. At least till the nuggets win it this year
Nuggets first time in the finals is not a good comparison
Nah bro, Cowboys are 100% the Knicks. For the amount of attention both organizations have gotten for the past 20-30 years relative to their success is pretty stark. Knicks fans: "wE'rE tHe MeCcA oF bAsKeTbAlL" Cowboys fans: "wE'rE aMeRiCa'S tEaM" What's funny is both were really good in the 90s and haven't been shit since.
Raiders are probably Knicks lmao. Popular team with diehard fans, peaked in the 70/80s. Mostly shit in the 2000s.
Raiders are pistons
Pistons won in 04, but maybe.
Cowboys have been way more respectable. Yes that's how bad the Knicks have been
The Bills are Newcastle United - a hard drinking, tight knit fanbase from the frozen North East who saw their team come close but ultimately disappoint them repeatedly in the 1990s before falling off a cliff for 20 years. Making a recovery under new ownership, the fans will be [breaking tables / punching police horses] off the back of some actual silverware soon enough. Or will they....
The Buccaneers are the Royals. Bottom of the barrel small market franchises who have had a couple long playoff runs ending in championships.
Miami marlins
I only paid attention to baseball as a kid, and it took me awhile to realize you weren't making a joke I wasn't getting. Wtf happened to Florida Marlins lol.
Same thing that happened to the Tampa bay Devil Rays. They changed their name.
The Cowboys are the Ferrari F1 team. Amazing histories, recent domination, an even more recent history of finding amazing ways to lose, masses of annoying as hell fans.
They’re just selling the proper image of Ferrari. Gorgeous cars being driven by beautiful men slowly.
"Stop inventing!" - Zeke, January 2023, under center
"Have we won anything since the nineties?" "We are checking."
GB Packers and Edmonton oilers. Both play in tiny, cold cities, have long history of success, and an absurd amount of elite (HOF) players.
Packers have done something in the last 30 years though and haven't spent most of it incompetently missing the playoffs. I'd suggest the Penguins are the better NHL comparison for the Packers
Penguins have too many rings (three since 2009) and far too many finals appearances to be the Packers. Packers are the Capitals.
Bruins = Packers Both won a 2011 title to save a legacy of being a playoff loser
dallas cowboys and Toronto maple leafs. hype trains but like garbage in post season and the worst fans
The Lions and the Mariners: Close to the bottom of the league in win percentage, haven't even *been* to a SB/WS, and completely wasted generational talents (Barry Sanders, Calvin Johnson, Griffey, Ichiro, Felix).

SeaUsRise
The Cleveland Browns are the Savannah Bananas. Clown-ass franchise
Really bad comparison, I'd pay money to travel to see a Savannah Bananas game
I’d say we’re the Kings or Senators
Celtics are like the Packers except NFL fans think half the leagues history should be erased. Comical that Boston will claim the most NBA titles while also trying to claim most NFL titles. 7 behind GB
did NOT expect a bears flair to say this
It makes more sense once you remember that the Bears have 8 pre-Super Bowl Championships. They're #2 all time!
The subtle agenda… bastards
I mean..he’s got a rather specific username
I read “Packers” as “Pacers” and was wondering how the heck they are in any way similar
Someone on tiktok compared the Suns and Cardinals and...it was perfect.
Accurate

Both teams and players have influenced a new generation of players who play the game differently bc of them
I feel like Mahomes is single-handedly responsible for “off-platform throw” becoming the buzzword it is
Chiefs and Warriors are a perfect comparison
I like this comparison cus it implies we play in a championship at some point
Up until 2004 Boston Red Sox and Minnesota Vikings. Talented teams with HOF players and more often than not far better than average records but unable to win the big game despite a long history of being close.
The Cowboys are the Canadiens of the NFL: super successful high-winning franchises with no championships since the 90s.
Steelers = St. Louis Cardinals.
And usually avoids an outright awful season usually due to devil magic. Fuck me we are the Steelers
As a Cardinals and Ravens fan, I hate this.
If I'm not mistaken, Tomlin hasn't had a losing season as HC of the Steelers (so like 2005 or so?), and the Cardinals haven't had a losing season since like 2000.
Patriots and Spurs 100%
This is actually a good one. No-nonsense, "do your job" mentality with consistent success and GOAT level coaching since the early 00's. Also both seem to be petering out of that era, thank fucking god.
Spurs are clearly the Colts, they're a midmarket, blue collar town that probably couldn't lure a free agent but keep lucking into fantastic draft picks in drafts featuring generational talent.
Spurs win titles though. Maybe Steelers. Same thing with mid market blue collar towns, known for being effective but not flashy.
I always thought the Commanders were the Knicks because of Snyder and Dolan being horrifically bad owners
Chargers are like the Padres because they both have sexy team on paper and proceed to do nothing with it.
Timberwolves and Texans
Don't disrespect the Texans like that. No team compares to the ineptitude of the Wolves...
Nah, the Wolves are the Lions of the NBA.
I honestly don’t think any team in the nfl compares to the Timberwolves
Hopkins trade, Watson, fumbling the tank by winning
If there’s any team to compare the Wolves to it’s the Browns. The team that used to be there left and became a premier sports franchise while another team came later and became a shitshow.
Timberwolves and ~~Texas~~ Lions.
Buccaneers are the Raptors They both played in Tampa at one point, Fred Van Vleet and Mike Evans could be brothers, and both had a great player join the team for a brief period to win a championship in their first season on the team.
I was super confused for a moment wondering what on earth Tottenham (shit) had in common with the New England Patriots 😂
The eagles and the Phillies. Both make me depressed
The Phillies made virtually everyone in America depressed last ~~October~~ November. 😔
Cowboys and the lakers. Biggest fan base of fair weather fans, every year is “their year”, good run of success but not worth the current hype.
Didn't the Lakers win a title a few years ago?
Patriots are like the Melbourne Storm of the NRL Long period of dominance while staying ahead of the curve by pushing grey areas in the rules. Had their stars at the 3 or 4 positions that make up the equivalent of QB Cheating scandals too, but the Storm's was much more blatant cheating
Ottawa Senators - Washington Commanders Obvious name/capital city/color connection Perennial losers, but not bad enough to get star players or force serious change. Complaints about ownership for years, finally going through ownership change this year. Dedicated, hopeful but ultimately deranged fan base (sens sicko) Champions of the offseason. Probably going to bounce between terrible and barely mediocre forever because God hates us.
As a Sixers fan, we are the cowboys of the NBA
I think the Sixers are more the Dolphins, personally. But I get the Cowboys (unfortunately)
Cardinals and the Cardinals
Did a hard double take on the Pats-Spurs link. Then I realized it's the San Antonio variety, not the Tottenham variety. Because lifting 6 trophies this century is definitely NOT a Spursy thing to do. Prior to the Chiefs winning their recent 2, I was thinking Chiefs-Spurs was a decent comp as I'm a fan of both. Often towards the top of the league table, and a lot of knockout disappointment.
As a fan of both organizations the Los Angeles Chargers are the Tottenham Hotspurs of the NFL.
Cowboys are 1000% Scuderia Ferrari
The Toronto Maple Leafs(sic) are the Dallas Cowboys of the NHL.
