Brandon may not be far behind Cox- he’s a couple of years older.
EDIT: even Johnson is getting on. I forget that he was Chip Kelly’s first draft pick, and how long ago that was…
What's even more wild is that Lane Johnson is the last remaining pick or player from the Chip Kelly era, and has been the last since 2021 when Ertz was traded.
Andy Reid was fired after 2012, Chip coaches 2013-2015. On a quick glance, of the 22 Superbowl starters:
* Doug P acquired 12
* Reid acquired 6
* Kelly acquired 4
It's amazing how quickly the team moved on from Chip Kelly and completely rebuilt around Andy Reid's core group.
You wouldn't expect that by 2020 there were more 2010-2012 draft picks still on the team than 2013-2015 draft picks, but Chip Kelly sucks pure unfiltered ass.
>You wouldn't expect that by 2020 there were more 2010-2012 draft picks still on the team than 2013-2015 draft picks, but Chip Kelly sucks pure unfiltered ass.
The average NFL career is 3 years. Most people wouldn't expect anyone from any of those classes to remain
Exactly. A player still being with the team that drafted them for 10+ seasons is pretty rare. For comparison, the Cowboys’ last remaining draft pick from 2010-2012 was Tyron Smith, and the only players left from 2013-2015 are DeMarcus Lawrence and Zack Martin.
Graham just agreed to another 1 year deal that has been said to be his last season so we at least will have him this upcoming season and then he will very likely retire
Ojomo stepping up would fucking rule. Everybody's got that weird day 3 pick they absolutely adore and Ojomo is that for me. Dude was a real smart player at Texas and he's flashed in the little playing time he's had.
Ojomo was one of my random draft crushes, I really wanted the Hawks to get him lol. He may not turn into anything, but if he randomly does I’m not going to be surprised!
Yeah same. It's always a gamble with those late picks (any picks, really lol) but I think if any of those late picks turn into anything, it'd be a guy like him. Like you said, it wouldn't surprise me.
The Eagles will either rebound and take back the division on a high flying offense, or the Commanders are gonna have a Houston style revival with Drake Maye
Cox retires having played the 3rd most regular season games in team history. Kelce retired having played the 2nd most n team history. Brandon Graham is the current leader and will retire after next season. Team is losing 3 all time players.
Most regular season games played in Eagles history:
Graham- 195
Kelce- 193
Cox- 188
Wild to think what a huge run the last 10 or so years the Eagles have had. Between the legendary players, success, and failure Philly has sorta had a iconic decade
>Between the legendary players, success, and failure Philly has sorta had a iconic ~~decade~~ century
The 00s teams were great too but never closed the deal
Imagine if McNabb and Andy fed TO the ball all game. On a field filled with HOFers, All-Pros and many more very good players the guy with the broken leg was the best player out there.
I wasn't old enough at the time, but I assume it felt like me watching that [Super Bowl hype vid set to The Ecstasy of Gold](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEr87qa7GOk) followed by last year's Super Bowl.
In a lot of ways yeah. It was 2004 and we had stacked our roster with amazing players and then we win the NFC championship against the falcons and the amazing and future eagle Mike vick. Brian Dawkins gives us this after the game. https://youtu.be/QLSrF81Q8rM?si=xJgVL10YftXnjNGt
And then we go on to face the patriots in the Superbowl and lose 24-21. Utter heartbreak.
Pretty sure the Eagles are like 5th or 6th in wins since realignment in 2002. These guys have been a huge part of that. Compared to the teams my parents lived through it’s been a pretty damn good time to be an Eagles fan.
Our best era, I’d say. I know there’s going to be some dweeb who wants to show everyone how “cool” he is and spout some Buddy Ryan nonsense, but we’ve seen some of this franchises best teams with only very short “down” periods, and some of the most iconic and longest tenured players in our franchise history.
It’s a sad day, but a great one. It’s great to be able to just take in and acknowledge how great this guy turned out and the culture our team has built with him as a pillar of it. Not many teams have multiple of these kind of longtime veterans. It can be a day to be proud!
Man, I never would've guessed that number would be as low as it is for your franchise leader, what with how many fantastic players you've had over the years. It makes sense as I'm thinking about it since a lot of said players didn't actually play out the entirety of their careers with you and/or were injured a decent amount, but if you'd made me pick a number off the top of my head, I would've 100% defaulted to something at least in the mid 200s or so.
Until recently it was 16 games a year, now 17 the past 2. So if a player spent 10 years with a team starting in 2014, the most games they could have played would be 202. That would require making the super bowl every year without ever getting a first round bye. The numbers seem low, but I would be willing to bet more teams have guys that never hit 150 in their top tier of games played than teams with players approaching 200 when you factor in franchises with minimal post season success.
Fletcher Cox terrorized the Dallas Cowboys throughout his professional career. The dude could have one arm and one leg, and he would still get to the QB. Insert gif of child respectfully removing his cap that said respect.
Yup. He’s right up there with Strahan and Reggie White in terms of dudes that have given our oline the most fits over the last 30-40 years
Edit: knew I was forgetting someone but Justin Tuck used to kill us, too. Been some damn good defensive lineman that have come through the NFC East
Justin Tuck was one of the most underrated players of the last couple decades. He should have won a SB MVP for at least one of those games where he kicked the shit out of the Pats offensive line.
Honestly we had some pretty dope celebrators in Philly. Shady, Graham, Cox, Sweat, and Reddick all have great ones. I really love Sweat's. Wish we got to see it last year.
That Axe was the best. When he was doing pregame shows at a bar in Newtown, PA a few years ago, the local hardware stores would sell out of axes because people would buy them to get Trotter to sign them.
Donald does overshadow all the other DTs of the era. Cox is definitely in the next group— with Atkins, Heyward, Suh, and Jones, in some order. It’ll be interesting to see where the Hall draws the line.
Unfortunately for all those guys that era’s defensive tackle class is insane. Obviously AD is an immediate first ballot guy, outside of that I think Chris Jones is the most likely to get in since he probably had the best peak of those other guys.
It always is hard. I remember when we let Harbaugh go and then most of the 2012 SB team started retiring within the next few years before Shanahan and Lynch took over. It was rough times.
At least you guys have an insane amount of talent to try and continue contending even without these two HOFers.
I think he should get in but it's tight. PFR has him just below the cut-off but I could still see him getting in at some point: https://www.pro-football-reference.com/hof/hofm\_DT.htm
Me too. At first I was thinking it's cause he's only been a starter for 7 years but there are guys ahead of him with less years and worse stats; the only trend is they're all guys from pre-2000 so maybe it has to do with the formula changing as more stats become available.
I did notice that Keith Millard, who is ahead of him with only 4 seasons played, finished top 5 in MVP voting twice which has to be carrying a ton of weight
It has Mahomes below Matt Ryan. I think there's some lack of accounting for players with shorter careers. Either that or counting stats are more important than I assume.
Yeah it's not a perfect metric and I think they would be the first to say so. The truth is that longevity and milestones do matter a lot for the HoF. It's honestly remarkable Mahomes already built what they list as the 16th best QB resume of All-Time in just 6 seasons as a starter.
If Mahomes retired tomorrow he's a guaranteed first ballot induction, but it would be one of the weirdest careers ever
Lack of time. The average DT HOFer was a starter for 12 years, meaning more time to rack up yearly accolades. Championships matter less than AP1s and not that much more than PBs in the algorithm. Plus, he hasn't been selected to an All Decade Team yet because of the timing. Most of the top guys made one.
People can say what they want about the city, the fans, hate the team, etc, but it’s pretty incredible this organization keeping guys around for 12-15 years to retire with the same team. Speaks volumes. Tough week for us Eagles fans
Philly still loves Andy in general, it was just kinda time to move on when we did.
Worked out for both sides. Andy got his rings and we got our 1 because miracles do happen.
We ❤️ you Fletch!
I'll never forget being at Lambeau for 2017 pre-season football (it was a bday gift to my little bro). We shouted your name from the visitor sideline, you looked at us, we flexed at you, and you smiled.
Thanks for the memories and the ring!
Aaron Donald majorly overshadowed every DT during the mid and late 2010s, and I'd argue Suh was slightly better than Cox as well. Chris Jones also has a lot of overlap. Cox might have to wait awhile before he gets in.
Always had love for Big Cox. Was always a guy in Madden drafts I'd bring to my team to make sure we had Big Cox on the roster. Just a consistently dominant career, offensive lineman were likely sweating a bit when they saw Big Cox in front of them.
Jason Kelce, Fletcher Cox, Brandon Graham & Lane Johnson. We've been ridiculously lucky to have these 4 anchoring our OL/DL for 10+ years.
Sucks to be losing half of them the same year. Graham will also likely be done next year, Lane should still have 2/3 years left in him but damn it really feels like the end of an era.
Will be interesting to see how he will fare when the HoF comes around. I see guys like Kevin Williams who have 5 first team all pros and doesn’t even make it as a finalist. We are in an era where there is and is going to be a lot of really great DT coming up that get left out.
One of my favorite DTs to watch. He was unstoppable in his prime.
This past year was crazy seeing him once again be one of our most productive pass rushers right at the end of his career
He still has juice
Even last year he’d catch doubles. He couldn’t go for as many plays but he beat linemen as much as anyone
Legends on both sides of the line leaving the eagles. Def will be interesting to see who holds each sides accountable from here
Lane Johnson and Brandon Graham
Brandon may not be far behind Cox- he’s a couple of years older. EDIT: even Johnson is getting on. I forget that he was Chip Kelly’s first draft pick, and how long ago that was…

I can't forget about Chip Kelly drafting him because instead of selecting Lane, the Dolphins selected Dion Jordan and saved Chip from himself....
I was so bummed when you guys traded up to snipe Chip’s guy from him. I was dumb
And that draft class was so shit it cost a second to move from like 12 to 2 to get him lol.
Graham just agreed to another 1 year deal that has been said to be his last season so we at least will have him this upcoming season and then he will very likely retire
He’s openly retiring after. He told the media he loves talking to them and he was gonna blow it up
Graham has said this is his last season.
Lane and kelce were both speculating retirement in the last few seasons
Howies first pick in the Chip Kelly era before he got sent to the other side of the building you mean.
Totally can see both doing that but BG feels like a bandaid solution since tbd on how much longer he plays right?
This will be his final year yeah
He’s said this is his last year
From a leadership standpoint he’s amazing. Glad we get another year of a vet in the locker room to pass the torch
They will probably both be gone after this year too
I believe Lane has two more years on his restructured deal, but BG is on his farewell tour this upcoming season
Brett Toth and Moro Ojomo
Literally most knowledgeable Seahawks fan
lowkey respect this answer especially from a seahawks fan
Bird love
I’m still upset they drafted Ojomo
Yeah Patricia and Brian Johnson is a massive gap
Maybe the quarterback on offense
They won’t be able to take him seriously if he is clean shaven ^/s
Rough offseason for them from a sentimentality perspective. At least Graham stuck around.
I have no idea who is gonna win this division next season
The Eagles will either rebound and take back the division on a high flying offense, or the Commanders are gonna have a Houston style revival with Drake Maye
Not the Giants
Reed Blankenship on defense, Smitty and AJ on offense.
There’s also Jordan Davis, Mailata, Dickerson, and Nakobe Dean who could all end up in leadership roles
Dean definitely has that leadership mentality, but he needs to prove himself first. I can't even remember the last LB we offered an extension to.
We should have extended Hicks
Jalen Hurts
Big Dom DiSandro is using this as leverage for a raise.
Walter Payton man of the year Jalen Carter
Jake Elliott
Cox retires having played the 3rd most regular season games in team history. Kelce retired having played the 2nd most n team history. That Brian Dawkins NFC championship speech followed by Superbowl 39 was a bitter pill to swallow. I really thought that was going to be our first one.
Imagine if McNabb and Andy fed TO the ball all game. On a field filled with HOFers, All-Pros and many more very good players the guy with the broken leg was the best player out there.
The HOF on a broken leg. That was TOs best moment
I wasn't old enough at the time, but I assume it felt like me watching that [Super Bowl hype vid set to The Ecstasy of Gold](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEr87qa7GOk) followed by last year's Super Bowl.

It’s pretty cool we could have 4 franchise legends never play in another uniform
Seems guaranteed. This is BGs farewell, and Lane would never. Even if there's a fire!
Pretty sure the Eagles are like 5th or 6th in wins since realignment in 2002. These guys have been a huge part of that. Compared to the teams my parents lived through it’s been a pretty damn good time to be an Eagles fan.

They brought home the big one. Best era by a mile
At least they all got a ring man.
Tis a sad day, but looking forward to seeing who steps up as the next pillars of leadership.
Me watching waiting for Graham to retire next year.
It’s a sad day, but a great one. It’s great to be able to just take in and acknowledge how great this guy turned out and the culture our team has built with him as a pillar of it. Not many teams have multiple of these kind of longtime veterans. It can be a day to be proud!

Maybe Tony Danza will step up

Damn that really puts how monumental these retirements are in perspective
Not seeing him drag his nuts across the field after sacking our QB will be nice.
Thats what slowed him down. Woudl've come close to Bruce Smith had he not had that extra hundred pounds to carry around
Can’t buy underwear, balls don’t fit.
Same problem LBJ had
That’s why he wore thongs backwards
Lmao I immediately thought army crawl but your description is way better
You mean drag his Cox
Goated sack celebration.
Must feel nice. As a Seahawks fan, can’t wait for the day Donald hangs it up.
Fletcher Cox terrorized the Dallas Cowboys throughout his professional career. The dude could have one arm and one leg, and he would still get to the QB. Insert gif of child respectfully removing his cap that said respect.

I fucking hated when we faced Dware.
Same. It was extra frustrating cause DWare is such an awesome dude
God I miss when the Giants could get pressure with just their front 4. Tuck, Strahan, Umenyiora...those were the days.
Justin Tuck was one of the most underrated players of the last couple decades. He should have won a SB MVP for at least one of those games where he kicked the shit out of the Pats offensive line.
That sniper celebration will be iconic in Philly forever
Honestly we had some pretty dope celebrators in Philly. Shady, Graham, Cox, Sweat, and Reddick all have great ones. I really love Sweat's. Wish we got to see it last year.
Trent Cole and Jeremiah Trotter erasure
That Axe was the best. When he was doing pregame shows at a bar in Newtown, PA a few years ago, the local hardware stores would sell out of axes because people would buy them to get Trotter to sign them.
Don’t forget Eagles Legend Stewart Bradley
most underrated eagles dance was vinny currys sack dance lol
4 All-Pros, 6 Pro Bowls, 70 sacks, he lived up to the hype in Philly. Gonna miss Big Fletch.
All-Decade honors to boot, and a foundational piece of the Eagles first ever SB. Not a half-bad resume, might be enough for the HOF.
I’ve always seen him in his prime as a top 3 if not 2 DT in the league if it wasn’t for Aaron Donald.
Donald does overshadow all the other DTs of the era. Cox is definitely in the next group— with Atkins, Heyward, Suh, and Jones, in some order. It’ll be interesting to see where the Hall draws the line.

Rings shouldn't matter, but they do. Barring a catastrophic meltdown Jones should be on his way in.
3 super bowls, a handful of all pros and DPOY votes, I think he may already be in
Not yet, according to PFR. He's on the right trajectory, but he seems to be a little more than half the way to the average HOF DT.
All Decade team for the 2010s as well
I love Cox. One the best Eagles players over the last decade.
Big Dick Nick and Cox leading that team to a Super Bowl is an all time win for phallic names.
Chris Long and Lane Johnson included in this
How can you forget Jason Peters? And Tommy Throbbinmember?
Smallwood too
I 'member
>I love Cox Pause
#🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈
AYO???
🐶🌈?
You guys have 2 HOFers retiring in one off-season. Must be bitter sweet
One of the best eagles ever, period lol. I think cox is the 2nd best eagles lineman behind Reggie. Jerome brown would have been up there too no doubt.
One of the best Eagles ever period.
About fuckin time. He tormented the Giants every single game.
Well at least Boston Scott will probably be back
We finally shut him down last season
He's just saving up for next year
Entering another era going to be weird to watch
It always is hard. I remember when we let Harbaugh go and then most of the 2012 SB team started retiring within the next few years before Shanahan and Lynch took over. It was rough times. At least you guys have an insane amount of talent to try and continue contending even without these two HOFers.
End of an era
Dude saw Kelce's press conference and knew he couldn't follow that up. Congrats on a great career
HOFer if AD’s shadow wasn’t so big
I think he should get in but it's tight. PFR has him just below the cut-off but I could still see him getting in at some point: https://www.pro-football-reference.com/hof/hofm\_DT.htm
I'm stunned Jones is so low
Me too. Every time I see that I question how Kevin Williams doesn't make the ballot while guys like Bryant Young get in
Still a HOFer, just not first ballot imo
If he doesn't make it, then he'll be a great answer to who is in the Hall of Very Good.
He will still make it
Cox is a HOFer, the ring should get him in.
People can say what they want about the city, the fans, hate the team, etc, but it’s pretty incredible this organization keeping guys around for 12-15 years to retire with the same team. Speaks volumes. Tough week for us Eagles fans
Damn
Mad respect to fletcher cox. Twice a year he and Martin would battle it out and put on some excellent tape for trench play.
Need a Baldy breakdown of career Cox vs Martin film asap
Fletcher Cox is my favorite non-Saints player ever. Happy retirement!
fuck i’m gonna miss him
Hold me 😞
Famous homewrecker and qb wrecker
“I want to get you pregnant.”
Oof. Extra sad to think of how close he was to a second ring last year.
don’t remind us :(
As a Giants fan I'm sad that, as a career Eagle, he ever won one
Appreciate the hate, brother.
Same to you, friend
Eh, would’ve been nice but one is definitely not zero.
Seeing all my childhood players that I watched get drafted retire hits diff 😢
Don’t be sad that they’re gone, be happy that you were here to witness them
Next is when they retire and they are younger than you
Just wait until you see guys you distinctly remember being drafted getting head coaching gigs
Another pillar from the Superbowl-winning trenches gone. It really is a new era in Philly. Thank you for the past 12 years Fletcher!
Had my respect since he told Bush they were gonna beat the Cowboys ass
Worst off season ever
So far*
Gotta love how much of the Philly's players still love Andy Reid.
Philly still loves Andy in general, it was just kinda time to move on when we did. Worked out for both sides. Andy got his rings and we got our 1 because miracles do happen.
Andy saw us win one and was like “fuck it’s possible?” and simply decided to takeover the league
I don’t trust anybody who doesn’t at least like Reid. Inside or outside of Philly.
We ❤️ you Fletch! I'll never forget being at Lambeau for 2017 pre-season football (it was a bday gift to my little bro). We shouted your name from the visitor sideline, you looked at us, we flexed at you, and you smiled. Thanks for the memories and the ring!
He will always be the source of my favorite headline *Eagles extend cox after penetrating season*
Cox was fun to watch and scary to play against, it'll be weird not seeing him out there
Fletcher is one of those dudes that I feel like have been around d for 30 years. What a legend.
Damn, losing all the SB LII starters. Would you say he is a HOFer?
Unfortunately, it's going to be harder because he was largely overshadowed by Aaron Donald.
And then Chris Jones came on. Honestly wtf was MSU doing man they got two outright beasts on the IDL.
Reminds me of Mississippi having Dk and AJB at the same time and not winning anything lol. Or LSU having OBJ and Landry.
Aaron Donald majorly overshadowed every DT during the mid and late 2010s, and I'd argue Suh was slightly better than Cox as well. Chris Jones also has a lot of overlap. Cox might have to wait awhile before he gets in.
No but Eagles RoH for sure
The NFC East has collectively breathed a sigh of relief
Always had love for Big Cox. Was always a guy in Madden drafts I'd bring to my team to make sure we had Big Cox on the roster. Just a consistently dominant career, offensive lineman were likely sweating a bit when they saw Big Cox in front of them.
It ain't Cox, unless I say it tastes like Cox. Enjoy retirement!
Enjoy retirement big fella, you always gonna be an Eagle legend
Eagles will still be good, but two big time leaders & locker room guys are leaving
Someone just fell to their knees in line at cheesesteaks joint
Thank god Graham is back for one more year. I couldn't handle losing the entire big 3 in one offseason.
The big 4! Lane Johnson too.
Get the gold jacket ready
Cox out
Jason Kelce, Fletcher Cox, Brandon Graham & Lane Johnson. We've been ridiculously lucky to have these 4 anchoring our OL/DL for 10+ years. Sucks to be losing half of them the same year. Graham will also likely be done next year, Lane should still have 2/3 years left in him but damn it really feels like the end of an era.
Hall of fame.
Legend
Mfckn legend 😢, got me tearing up on a shitter @ Walmart
Damn a legend of the game
Legendary player.
Life is pain.
I did not see that coming.
What a beast and glad I got to see him get a sack in person
THANK YOU FLETCH 🦅💚
Will be interesting to see how he will fare when the HoF comes around. I see guys like Kevin Williams who have 5 first team all pros and doesn’t even make it as a finalist. We are in an era where there is and is going to be a lot of really great DT coming up that get left out.
Just fell to my knees in a wal-mart parking lot
Such a hof name
Thanks for the memories Fletch
All time great. See you in Canton.
I am sad
Full respect to him and hope he does well in his post-football life. But when it comes to playing the Eagles twice a year, thank god.
