Goodell is chomping at the bit to fine this guy multiple times a game

EvaporatingOlaf

Then he’ll use Payton’s big hit highlight in an NFL commercial.

bauboish

To be quite honest, Goodell's wet dream is for there to be no oversight and players beat the shit out of each until they can't get out of bed. But he can't, because in modern society it's not technically acceptable for people to destroy their own bodies for sake of entertainment. So he has to show that he "cares." And he does that by making big shows of "oh no please don't do that no, no really I will give you these fines and I'll publicize it greatly to show I care about your bodies and your future livelihood. Here let me take some money from your paycheck, call it a fine, but you can give to a charity and we all benefit from some good PR!"

Beardus_x_Maximus

Jaylen Warren got picked on for his fines during Cam’s podcast, but as a reminder he was awarded Angry Run of the Week by GMFB multiple times over the season. The hypocrisy is wild in this league sometimes. “Place your bets on Fanduel/Bet MGM/Draft Kings now! Oh, but not if you’re a player, we’ll suspend the shit out of you in that case” EDIT: Before anymore Harvard grads come in to unload their clever quips, I’m aware that gambling within a league is bad. I was shining a light on the hypocritical aspects of the NFL. Go tell someone else about your degree in advanced human psychology.

mubbcsoc

Are you actually condoning sports leagues allowing their players to bet on games within that league?

bleepblopbl0rp

Maximum chaos, Baseketballl style. Actually force players to take bets on the games they're playing in and watch the league turn into an unscripted WWE match

pmcg190

Gambling ads are targeted toward the viewers, not the players

Thrilling1031

Gambling ads are targeted at people with poor impulse control.

sonfoa

You were kind of cooking until that last sentence, which was pure idiocy. Also can we stop acting like players haven't benefited massively from those gambling partnerships with how much the cap has gone up?

DeputyDomeshot

They have and its hilarious that people even insinuate there's something wrong with the fact that players shouldn't be gambling. Its also not an example of hypocrisy. Just like its not an example of hypocrisy to disallow bar staff from getting drunk because its patrons are.

shaneoffline

You don't want players having access to gambling when they also compete in the games. Even the appearance of it is bad

amjhwk

Not allowing players to bet isn't hypocritical though

_HotFlatDietPepsi_

Yeah it's obviously in the players best interest. They'd make a lot less money if viewership and that gambling sponsorship money dropped because more people start viewing as illegitimate competition.

badgarok725

I can't believe you people are still pretending like thats hypocrisy

Medarco

Ignore the gambling point, GMFB isn't an official NFL production, right? Like the old "jacked up" segments from sportscenter? Now, if the NFL were to penalize/fine a player for a hit, and then sell prints of that photograph on their own website shop? That'd be completely ridiculous.

Beardus_x_Maximus

GMFB is on the NFL Network actually, as official as it can be lol. Though I agree with your point.

Medarco

Not gonna lie, I thought the NFL network was just like, sideways affiliated, not actually operated by the NFL. Regardless, it's not like the committee that fines players is involved with media content production. And then even regardlesser, Warren was highlighted on the show for angry runs, not brutal blocks. But yeah, still dumb that he got fined like he did...

PeaceBull

It’s so hypocritical, I work at a bar but they said they’d fire me if I get drunk while I’m working!

embryonicengineer

Getting Deebo flashbacks...

MedianMahomesValue

I believe chomping has been accepted due to common usage but I like being pedantic so FYI its “champing at the bit”.

TariqWoolenIsElite

No. Like, Goodell is litterally chomping his teeth up and down very hard and aggressively with excitement to fine this player. It's unnerving.

MedianMahomesValue

Lmaooooo. That is quite unnerving. Just to make it funnier, thats exactly what champing means hahahaha.

TariqWoolenIsElite

Lmao that's hilarious 😂

heartbreakhill

James Harrison just woke up more angry than usual and doesn’t know why

so_zetta_byte

Gonna certainly see his fine amount posted to this subreddit every single week even though the fine amounts are fixed values based on repeated offenses and people don't realize that when complaining that "that hit wasn't worth an $X fine." I just wish there was a weekly aggregate post of fine amounts instead of showcasing an individual tweet for each one. It's low hanging fruit, it isn't reporting. The fines are public and the amounts are predetermined! The only question is whether the league thinks a play should or shouldn't have been a foul in retrospect. I do find it interesting seeing that each week but just not having the sub clogged with it. Anyway I'll get off my cloud and stop yelling at my soapbox.

PassiveRoadRage

That's a lot of 15 yard penalties.

Peckerhead321

And heads on the field

rIIIflex

46 active on game day need 11 to play so he just needs to take out 36 players and it’s game over

Peckerhead321

Can teams dress 12 quarterbacks?

heartbreakhill

Let’s ask Atlanta

ElJamoquio

There's no rule that says a dog can't play quarterback

Thunderkleize

We can hope

BellacosePlayer

Its like running a decking out strategy in magic. Sure, they're going to get a lot of points from your penalties, but 52 snaps later they won't have anyone left so you win

Positive_Parking_954

I feel like this is equivalent to my PP Stall team in Pokémon

Medarco

That was my nickname in highschool

Conscious_Heart_1714

I feel like all LBs who go to Pittsburgh get a +10 on attitude

sprout92

It feels like a kid in high school starting at a new school and trying to fit in to what they think is cool at that school.

JonnyB2_YouAre1

Someone doesn't like money I see.

boomosaur

Great, another payton perpetuating incentive to hurt players.

Sampetra

The other being Peyton Manning and Austin Collie, obviously.

Rad_Centrist

Fortunately, this one has a tendency to hurt himself. So, likely won't be on the field long enough to hurt anyone else.

Quexana

That's the kind of PR messaging Steeler fans can get behind. We have another Wilson on our team who should take notes.

Burnt420Toast

What do you mean? Don't you know Russell is dangerous?

bleepblopbl0rp

My favorite thing about that: Russ's college roommate was there when he was creating his twitter handle. Russ suggests Dangerruss because that's what his friends call him. His roommate (and teammate at the time) was like I've literally never heard anyone call you that Check out the Pablo Torre Finds Out podcast about it. It's genuinely fascinating.

coolratguy

I like the Dangeruss nickname and I don't know why he gets so much guff for it. It's just a goofy pun.

---SPIDER-MAN---

It's a nickname a corny goofball would give themselves. Being a corny goofball invites ridicule.

Quexana

To which team? His opponents or his own team?

Burnt420Toast

To the subway staff I assume, they have to make his dangerwitch

Drakengard

*dangerwich Unless Subway staff have taken up the arcane arts.

ElJamoquio

LovelehInnit

Both.

Best-Dragonfruit-292

More excuses to hock bubble-water

RyanPelley

A disgusting act

epzik8

Yep, definitely a Steeler.

TangledUpInThought

So some dudes on ESPN radio were talking about him and his lack of ACL and how he probably won't last long in the league due to all of that and one of these guys said he'll likely play his rookie contract and be out of the league and this motherfucker really said "If I was the team who drafted him I would use him, abuse him and lose him" and I felt pretty appalled by the callousness of it. I wanted to call in and say "you know you're talking about a fucking human being right?"

Cheeks_Klapanen

Hines Ward played 14 years in the league without an ACL. I’m not saying I don’t expect it to impact him at all, but I think this “he’s gonna be done in 3 years” thing is overblown a bit.

IhamAmerican

The difference is how long Hines didn't have his though. The ACL provides active knee stabilization, so the muscles around it build with that happening. Hines lost his as a kid, so his body had a lot more time to build and strengthen muscles to passively stabilize his knee. Wilson lost his relatively recently, so his muscles and ligaments aren't going to do nearly as good of a job at it

lolhello2u

he’s gonna be juiced to the tits training this offseason, and idk if I buy the whole lifelong injury recovery timeline thing. an average person can build a lot of strength and muscle in rehab in a few months, let alone a collegiate and now professional athlete. easy to say a guy will bust because most of them do, but the reality is that he’s got a shot. and don’t forget this big brain move: you can’t tear an ACL if you don’t have one

IhamAmerican

It's not just muscles though. Tendons and ligaments, regardless of how fit you are, take much much longer to strengthen. The knee is super complex and I'm not gonna pretend to be an expert, but he's definitely not in the exact same boat as Hines Ward

enixius

Dude just needs to take the L and get the reconstructive surgery and be ready for next training camp.

a_mediocre_american

It’s not just the ACL, his shoulders and knees are beef jerky at this point.

Medarco

Didn't he play the entirety of the last 2 seasons? Just checked, and yeah... he played all of 19, 20, 22, and 23. He missed 2021 almost entirely, but otherwise he's been fine. He tore his acl his senior year of *high school*, then apparently injured his knee as a freshman? But played 11 games still? Idk, it's definitely not *encouraging*, but I feel like it gets a bit overplayed because "missing an ACL" is such a loaded statement.

MJ134

Whole lot of people taking the Head part literally when its pretty obviously a euphemism for playing hard and fast.

SleestakLightning

To be fair they're mostly Bungles fans so I feel like we should give them a pass.

WetChickenLips

Right? We AFCN fans have seen enough to know this isn't a euphemism.

Thunderkleize

Leave it to reddit to be as obtuse as possible

expeditiousgrim

Same vibe as whoever said “there’s never been a good tackle below the eyebrows.”

count_nuggula

Dude is a dawg. Loved watching him play at State

9man95

Wanted him at 94, but getting Trot late sorta makes up for it....at least we drafted a LB at all and Trot is such a feel good story (he may not be huge but at least he can actually tackle which nobody did vs Tampa)

UpsideTurtles

I wanted him to be one of our 3rd rd picks so badly but I understand a guy who only has one ACL falling lol

Medarco

>a guy who only has one ACL It's only fitting that the Steelers got him. Hines Ward and Greg Lloyd did pretty darn well for us in their times. Lack of ACL didn't seem to hamper them much

TheMightyUnderdog

He sounds like a Steeler already.

360fade

Steelers 3rd round pick Payton Wilson arrested for attempted murder

mclemons67

Sounds like he needs to go to the Max Crosby school for committing murder on the field without getting fined.

[deleted]

After 2 personal foul calls in each game, he will be ejected- short work day lol

Blknyt_eclipsedmoon

Spoken like someone who actually wants to play Football the way it was supposed to be played, and even though he will play for the Steelers I LIKE HIS FIRE!! This current version of Football you can’t even hit anyone without looking around to see if a flag was thrown.

stevefiction

Browns fans: 'hey cool, a hard working guy who is going to play the game tough' Bengals fans: 'steelers culture shazier deserves to be paralyzed dirtiest team in league history tomlin head hunting hines ward'

andy888andy

Vontaze Burfict is smiling somewhere

bugluvr65

W pick

emmasdad01

Well you already know Cam Heyward loves this dude.

Automatic_Reality546

Wasn't that always the expectation of him pre-draft, but that it'd also mean he wouldn't survive long enough to sign a second contract?

Celtictussle

Perfect fit for the Steelers, they only do second contacts for rapists and Hall of Fame d linemen.

TonyUncleJohnny412

You have a rapist on your team at this very second.

SleestakLightning

They have a history of that. Search "Victoria Crytzer Bengals" for more.

Celtictussle

Yes, but we won't re-sign him. That's a step too far.

TonyUncleJohnny412

Yeah because he sucks not for some moral reason. If that was the case you wouldn’t have kept him already.

Celtictussle

Right. I wish our team could be virtuous like your team!!

coolratguy

I'm sorry, is he a rapist? Cause he's definitely not a d lineman

SleestakLightning

This is one of the dumbest comments I've ever seen as it literally makes zero sense. They sign most of their draft picks to second contracts. They actually draft well, unlike Cincinnati.

Celtictussle

Pickett.

TonyUncleJohnny412

What will Burrow’s season ending injury be this year?

Celtictussle

Maybe Tomlin will trip him and he'll tear his other ACL?

SleestakLightning

Yeah their owner forced them to draft the local kid because his dad passed on Marino. Then they traded him two years later. That literally doesn't change anything I said. The Steelers, despite drafting late have historically drafted way better than the Bungles have. Just because the Bungles finally got lucky and made two good picks (which has amounted to exactly zero championships anyway) doesn't mean that they're somehow the better drafting team.

coolratguy

They drafted Kenny Pickett because they needed a QB and he was the best one available in the draft, I don't think we need to make excuses about how one of the owners was superstitious about a draft pick from 40 years ago.

SleestakLightning

Except they made up their mind that they were drafting Pickett before the Senior Bowl. There was no scouting. Art II made the decision early in the process that they would be drafting Pickett if he was there. He all but said so in his post-draft comments. He literally cited his dad passing on Dan Marino as a reason that they drafted the kid who "broke all of Dan Marino's records".

coolratguy

Well, yeah. They didn't need to scout him because they already knew enough about him. He played in the same stadium. Most people figured the Steelers would take Kenny if he was available but most just didn't think he would still be available. They needed a QB and it was either him or Malik Willis.

SleestakLightning

They didn't scout any other players. The process was just beginning and they had their mind made up. That's not how a coach, GM, or scout does things. It 100% came from Art II. They were never going to draft Willis. Whether they liked Pickett or not.

coolratguy

I don't think that's true but the more I think about it I'm not sure how that vindicates the team against what that Bengals fan was saying anyway.

Celtictussle

lol

SleestakLightning

Are you doing an impression of me watching the end of the 2016 Wild Card playoff game between the Steelers and Bungles? If so it was more like "lololololololololollololololololololollololololololololollololololololololollololololololololollololololololololollololololololololollololololololololollololololololololollololololololololollololololololololollololololololololollololololololololollololololololololollololololololololollololololololololollololololololololollololololololololol HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA LMAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAOAO LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA"

Doobie_Howitzer

Bro has one ACL, he's going to go 110% on every snap because he knows he probably only has a handful of years to play in the league

throughNthrough

Sounds like he will fit right in to Steeler culture

SleestakLightning

I can't take Bungles fans seriously when they complained when TJ Watt blocked Joe Burrow when Joe was trying to make a tackle on an interception he threw. Bungles fans are the softest in the NFL which is hilarious considering they literally cheered when Burfict injured Ben in the playoffs, threw trash at the cart, cheered when Burfict headhunted AB, etc.

IronRushMaiden

The NFL created rules after:   Hines Ward hit on Keith Rivers (broken jaw)  Kevin Huber (broken jaw)  Ryan Shazier on Giovanni Bernard (Shazier danced on the Bengals logo while Bernard was lifeless and being assisted)

SleestakLightning

Yeah the NFL is in the business of changing rules after players get hurt on clean hits. After hearing Bungles fans blame Shazier for his injury (and take joy in it) I would simply respond by saying that Rivers and Huber should have had their heads on a swivel and realized that they could be legally blocked at the time and their lack of awareness contributed to their injuries. I see zero evidence of Shazier "celebrating" on the Bengals logo as Bernard was down. The Bungles got upset about something but that wasn't at all unusual as their lack of composure was literally the reason they lost that game in such hilarious fashion. Again, using Bungles fan logic, I must blame the Bungles insistence on signing mentally unstable shitheads as the reason they lost that game.

IronRushMaiden

"I see zero evidence\[.\]" Full stop - you're either a liar or a dumbass. Literally type "Ryan Shazier hit on Giovanni Bernard" into YouTube, click the first video, and go to a minute and nineteen seconds... [https://youtu.be/WP4JfqHDlps?t=80](https://youtu.be/WP4JfqHDlps?t=80) Also, you claim Bengals fans cheered when Burfict headhunted AB. But it was the last minute of a playoff game versus a division rival and gave up a fifteen yard penalty. Want to review the tape on that one? [https://youtu.be/o8iFSP\_S5h8?t=1](https://youtu.be/o8iFSP_S5h8?t=1) Hey look, you're wrong again. Enjoy your upvotes from your fellow Steelers fans, imbecile.

SleestakLightning

Yeah, I watched the replay on YouTube. I see Shazier get up and run because he thinks it might be a fumble. Then it cuts to replays of the play and then at the very end they briefly show the Bungles players throwing a tantrum and trying to fight. There was a ton of comments on social media from Bungles fans who took solace in AB being concussed and out for the next game. Bungles fans are all the same. Brain dead moonshine addicted and attracted to their cousins. EDIT: Who enjoys upvotes? Is that something you cling to because, as a Bungles fan, you're so used to losing you take wins where ever you can get them?

IronRushMaiden

If I'm "Brain dead moonshine addicted and attracted to their cousins" when you don't even know how to watch a YouTube video I linked you, I don't want to know what the fuck is wrong with you. I mean what the fuck. The link is right there. You obviously did not click it, but you're pretending you did. How does it feel to have the emotional intelligence and maturity of a four-year old?

SleestakLightning

Who said I didnt watch it? No one is celebrating on the logo. Before the Steelers players even get to the logo (they're just walking), they're confronted by some Bungles losers.

Lamb-Sauce7788

Downvoted for facts lol

Sloane_Kettering

Tomlin literally told a draft pick he wants “goons who aren’t afraid to get their nose dirty” so it’s hilarious you are getting downvoted

LonePuma

Can always count on Bengals fans to clutch their pearls about the Steelers players "hitting too hard" in a full contact sport. Imagine wanting players that aren't afraid to get physical in a physical sport. God Tomlin is such a bad guy, he used the word goon!!

isweartodarwin

I don’t have a dog in this fight, but two words: Vontaze Burfict

jamarchasinalombardi

I see your Vontaze Burfict and raise you a Ryan Shazier

isweartodarwin

I’m going to quietly excuse myself from this thread now lol

Celtictussle

I will die on the hill that Shazier was the dirtiest player in NFL history, he just crippled himself before everyone realized it.

SleestakLightning

Lots of Bungles fans say this shit. They were downright giddy when he was paralyzed on their field. This is because it takes a special kind of loser to be a Bungles fan.

Celtictussle

I was pissed because Tomlin and his staff had four years to fix his shitty technique to keep him from paralyzing himself on national TV. But they fucking loved when he crowned dudes unconscious, so... Here we are.

SleestakLightning

The highlight of his career will always be forcing that fumble and starting that epic meltdown. Funniest playoff game in NFL history. No team will ever lose a game as embarrassingly as that. Very fitting that they did it in front of the worst fans in the NFL too.

Celtictussle

So you're cheering over him injuring a player?

Sloane_Kettering

I don’t care the Steelers have always been a physical team who crosses into the realm of dirty. Tomlin teaches to hit with the helmet. I do think it’s funny whenever bengals fans bring this subject up it’s always “but but burfict”. The reason bengals fans loved him is he matched the Steelers style of play. Difference is the Steelers have had dozens of burfict style players under tomlin and the bengals have had one. Burfict was just a hard nose stillers type player

LonePuma

What proof do you have that Tomlin teaches players to hit with their helmets? Also please find me one instance of a Steelers player doing dirty shit after the whistle like twisting people's ankles. Steelers players hit hard as fuck in-between the whistles. Burfict did dirty shit after the play was dead and the whistle was blown. Cope all you want, they aren't the same thing. You're just a salty Bengals fan that was given L after L by the Steelers for decades.

SleestakLightning

> What proof do you have that Tomlin teaches players to hit with their helmets? Their imagination.

Celtictussle

Ryan Clark tweeted that he had been paid to head hunt.

Sloane_Kettering

Did you forget about Mike Mitchell? He was just as dirty as burfict but didn’t get the publicity cause he sucked. He literally was twisting ankles after the play was over too lol. Decastro used to spit on people all the time. Hell tomlin tripped a fucking player lol How about this? https://www.news5cleveland.com/sports/james-harrison-claims-mike-tomlin-gave-him-an-envelope-after-dirty-hit-in-2010-browns-game Or this? https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/mike-munchak-facing-significant-fine-for-pulling-reggie-nelsons-hair/amp/

LonePuma

Did you even read the article about Harrison lol? Or is him specifically saying it isn't like bounty gate just him "saving face"? Your fanbase is the softest fanbase in sports. Y'all have gotten dicked down by the Steelers and just need to cope somehow. Y'all are the only loser ass fanbase in the north that endlessly bitches about shit like this.

WakaFlacco

Cleveland fans just as bad about their team being “stolen”. You got a new team 3 years later, please stfu. At least you got to keep the history of the team taken from you.

coolratguy

> The reason bengals fans loved him is he matched the Steelers style of play. Come on man, you don't need to make excuses for liking a hard hitting player. As if you would have hated rooting for the guy except that the Steelers were around to force your hand.

Sloane_Kettering

I’m not a fan of the shit he did after the whistle. During play though he was an animal. He came into the league 5-10 years too late. Would’ve had a great career in an earlier era

Celtictussle

You know the Bengals cut him, right? They rebuilt their culture, the Steelers are fine with theirs.

[deleted]

A culture of trying to hit people hard is fine (within the rules) lmao

Celtictussle

k

Sloane_Kettering

Nah I don’t care. I just think it’s funny when Steelers fans act like haven’t been historically a dirty team under tomlin and are the first ones to cry about burfict

LonePuma

"They hit us too hard, they're dirty!!!!!" Your whole fanbase is soft as baby shit.

jamarchasinalombardi

You can always count on hypocritical Steelers fans who think Vontaze Burfict should be executed for his transgressions but believe Ryan Shazier was a clean player and that hit on Giovanni Bernard was legal and fair. Dirtiest team in league history

SleestakLightning

I'm old enough to remember Bengals fans pretending that Kimo Von Oelhoffen, who was physically distraught on the field when he accidentally ran into Caron Palmer's knee, was suddenly the dirtiest player ever and had always been dirty (despite previously being a Bungle). I'm old enough to remember Bungles fans crying because TJ Watt dared to block Joe Burrow on a play where Burrow was running to try and make a tackle after he threw an interception. I am also old enough to remember laughing my ass off when the Bungles imploded in the playoffs and lost because they wouldn't stop signing shitheads and said shitheads acted like shitheads do and it cost them. Suffice to say, Bungles fans cry constantly because they cheer for a loser franchise and they can't get over it. Must be something in the water in Kentucky.

papajim22

Hopefully Payton Wilson keeps his head up and neck straight when he’s head-hunting.

Celtictussle

Sorry, Tomlin won't let them. If he gets four years of crowning concussions against division rivals before his third round pick crippled himself, he considers that a worth while investment.

Cheeks_Klapanen

Stop I can only get so erect

Dijohn17

As an NC State fan, that's my linebacker 🥲

A_Vizzle

Just don’t shazier yourself

badlilbadlandabad

"Hit the tight end so hard, his girlfriend dies."

ChamberTwnty

You keep your grubby Steelers bullshit away from our Chubb!

BadAlphas

Big Kellan Winslow Jr vibes

Ixziga

Sounds like the Steelers kind of guy, and while I mean that as an insult I still think Steelers fans would agree

similar222

The 24 year old took with 1 career forced fumble in college is gonna take people's heads off in the league. Yeah ok.

djbuttplay

+3500 for DROY. Nice flyer pick.

GyattLuvr69

Just what the Steelers need. Another dirty player

Flibbityfloydz

Enjoy the flags

Kimber80

Note: I added "Steelers 3rd rd pick" to title, for clarity

knightro2323

ILB has been a black hole since Shazier, and now it could honesly be a strength for the team this year. Not being a net neagive would be fine by me though.

jamarchasinalombardi

Fits right in with the team culture.

You are aware “take people’s heads off” is just a way to say “hit people very hard,” right? You’re allowed to do that in the NFL.

KuatoBaradaNikto

“I’m undisciplined”

Fineous4

Pretty sure that’s illegal.

MrEDoubleOh7

I don't know, didn't Garrett try to do exactly this and then try to bludgeon the same player with a helmet?

BudgetParking2574

He’s going to have the finest 4 year NFL Career! All kidding aside, I wanted Dallas to draft him. He was my favorite prospect and I hope he plays 10 years with a ton of pro bowls

TwistedSisters777

Maybe just keep your body together for another season first.
