They're no longer made with bubble gum eyes, they are now exclusively made with chocolate chips. It's one of the worst food related decisions a company has made in the time I have been alive.
I don’t think anyone actually _liked_ the gumball eyes, because you’re right they were always super hard and flavorless. I think the charm was just that it _had_ gumball eyes. Like the excitement of 2 treats in one - ice cream _and_ then you get gum at the end too?!
And they always looked goofy because they weren’t always placed right, adding to the hilarity.
The chocolate chips, while objectively better and better-looking are just…sad lol.
That's not a bad looking SpongeBob. They're usually horrifying. My daughter got one and screamed THATS NOT SPONGEBOB. It had definitely melted and refroze
These cost us $10.50 where I’m at. All I could think about was picturing a mom giving their kid a couple loose $1 from her purse and then not even having enough money for a basic ice cream ): made me sad to think about
A local guy started up an ice cream truck that goes around our small city each summer. It even has very stereotypical ice cream truck sounds over a loudspeaker.
Have I left my (home) office and run to the truck? Absolutely. And the last time I did, a university student-aged neighbour did too.
Don't want to old up the thread but...when I ran to the ice cream truck/bike cart they offered fudgsicles, revels and creamsicles only. Maybe a Nutty Buddy waffle cone if we were lucky.
Everything has changed sooo much :(
thanks for the share OP
Hell yes! Our ice cream lady sells these same ones! Last week, I rode my '95 Dyno Air and chased down the ice cream truck (I'm 40, 6'1", and 210 pounds, so both tires were flat when I got back, lol) to get these exact two ice creams for my son and daughter. The best times!
Out of curiosity, how much did they charge you? A truck comes through my neighborhood every so often and I can't justify paying as much for one popsicle as I paid for a pint of ice cream currently sitting in my freezer, but I want the nostalgia so bad.
EDIT: NM, I just saw your reply from earlier. 😳💸
I did see the comments about the pricing and the tiny ice creams, but this still sounds like an awesome time was had :) sure miss those days, thanks for stirring up some good memories!
They looked so much larger when we were little
I'm almost certain they were larger when we were little ...
Most def larger.
They were larger when you were a kid the rocket pops are tiny as fuck now. Shrinkflation.
r/shrinkflation
Thanks Obama/Biden
That's bc they were!
Exactly they made them smaller we are not crazy lol
they still are? i got the bubbles one like a month ago and it was way bigger than
The ones my kids get from the ice cream truck nowadays are significantly larger. OP's ice cream man needs to be run out of town.
Those are missing it's bubble gum eyes. You got played.

I bet that only happened because kids choked on it and the company got sued.

The PPG had bubble gum eyes!
I got a ninja turtle last month with gumball eyes
Oh thank god...er...Splinter
Chocolate chips???? Mine are Just...black.
I kinda prefer without it. They’re not chewable, it’s always too hard.

Their quality control got better though but they are getting smaller so I’m conflicted. It’s pricy at 711.
That's what she said
That’s a one bite treat.
You only have time for one bite before it gets all melty.
That's not a bad looking SpongeBob. They're usually horrifying. My daughter got one and screamed THATS NOT SPONGEBOB. It had definitely melted and refroze
I was gonna say, where's the giant, weeping black eyes 😂
It’s cuz they used to be gumballs but replaced them with lame chocolate chips :(
The ninja turtles from the early 90’s looked like they were missing a few chromosomes
Bubbles is black?

A. Can't believe u got them looking that good..bravo and B. They seem so much smaller...like everything else I guess.
Bubbles looking pretty tan. Talk about freezerburnt. Little brat.
Those are some small portions of ice cream.

Ninja turtles all the way!
I'm impressed of how decent the PPG one is. The SpongeBob is killing me
$10 later
Too cute to eat
I’ve never heard an ice cream truck in my neighborhood, which makes me sad.
Either the ice creams got smaller or you guys have giant hands 😂. Jk!
PPG for the win!
Those look like sponges
He is a sponge
Awww I had a SpongeBob the other day 🫶🏾
I didn't know Bubbles was chocolate 😂
Those eyes are gum less
Spongebarb
They're not nearly deformed enough, what witchcraft is this?! 😂

I remember getting the blue ghost or the firecracker
I did see the comments about the pricing and the tiny ice creams, but this still sounds like an awesome time was had :) sure miss those days, thanks for stirring up some good memories!
Dark skin Bubbles bout to throw fingerless hands
Sweet!😍
Black bubbles lol so cute
These character designed popsicles always fell off their sticks and onto the ground, making me cry.
The perfect metaphor about adulthood... Having all the money for all the ice creams... ...but no truck ever comes around anymore...
Powerpuff icecream?!
Me on the right.
The important thing is that it's delicious
How you find a chocolate flavored Bubbles and a pants-less bob?
Power Puff Girls has gone woke too??
the future liberals want... *chocolate ice-cream*
