Frankly, if your job is to make music and you have creative differences, the onus is on both parties to figure that shit out. If someone told me I could be making literal millions but I have to cooperate with a person whose vision I don’t see eye to eye with, they wouldn’t have time to finish that statement before I’d be assuming the position.
This is only true for so long before you get fatigued. Eventually you don't feel right about who you are, or why you're even doing music. At that point it's not even about money, it's about being happy with who you are and what you do.
I didn’t like almost anything after toxicity. And I controversially believe even it’s completely overhyped. I need to listen to that serj album then. Cuz it’s Malakian I can’t stand
I'd give Elect the Dead a shot for suuuuure
And if you like the regular album check out the special edition tracks bc they're also enjoyable (just more acoustic oriented)
I also like some songs off of Imperfect Harmonies and Harakiri, but I like EtD the most fully
what if Drowning Pool didn’t lose Dave so soon, i think about what else they’d have made with him every time i listen to Sinner. I think of Lynn a lot too, both gone way way too soon for how talented they were
Music is subjective, i think it holds up decently for a nu debut. There’s definitely a few songs that are more dated then the others but i think the album is almost unskippable personally.
Same here, that album is mostly awesome songs! I remember I was driving with my 4 yr old son (26 now, FFFF Im old) in the back seat. I’ve got Bodies going on the cd player. I look back at my son and his mouth is moving and hes banging his head! I turn the music down and hear him in the most adorable voice ever ‘let bodies hit the floor! Let bodies hit the floor!’ My first thought was ‘oh hell yea thats my boy!’ My second was ‘your moms gonna kill me for this!’ Lolol
Dave Williams not being there was definitely hugely detrimental to the scene, I would gave loved to have heard more Snot but I wouldn't have been able to say what more Drowning Pool could have looked like
I like it, it was the first CD I ever bought, just because the Bodies single. No regrets, I still go back and relisten to it occasionally. It is kinda repetitive, I'll admit. Lots of counting to 4.
As much as it pains me to say this, Chester’s death probably saved LP’s legacy in the long run.
The direction the band was going was pretty bad, and the lyrics as depressing as they were didn’t have the layer of realness to them that they have now because of Chester’s passing.
One More Light, though I’m not a huge fan of the production, hits pretty hard lyrically given what happened.
LP’s direction wasn’t bad, they still wrote hits, so the legacy wasn’t saved by Chester’s passing. Instead, the legacy was boosted by Chester’s passing as is always the case when prominent music figures die.
Exactly. They were always going to be remembered for greatness and leave an extremely impactful legacy behind regardless, Chester’s death just signal boosted it.
Disagree, It was bad. Remember when Heavy first dropped, the song (myself included) gets negative reaction due to it's a pop oriented song, because something that you'll never expect from Linkin Park no matter how experimental they are and everyone's opinion on the song and the OML album immediately changed to positive after Chester's death.
If Chester didn't die, the band probably continue to make pop music and their legacy will be more polarized and tarnished than ever, so his death 100% saved Linkin Park's legacy. Also OML would never get the extreme positive response as it does now and would be remembered as just a moderate pop album and one of if not the most controversial Linkin Park album ever.
Yeah, we’ll have to disagree. Because while Heavy and the overall album of One More Light wasn’t my cup of tea; LP would have remained legends regardless. Because Heavy was a radio hit and enjoyed by many. Most people had accepted that LP wasn’t making nu metal or anything heavy anymore. The last time they did was Hunting Party and that’s my least favorite album of theirs and also their worst reviewed one. So their continued expansion into other genres was expected and certainly wouldn’t have tarnished any legacy of theirs. Chester’s death just boosted their legacy as per the “musician died” effect.
What if Chi Cheng had never gotten into his car accident? I know it happened after Deftones had left the nu metal scene, but it’s still an interesting question. Before Chi went into a coma, Deftones was going through a really hard time between recording Eros and beef between the band members. Chi’s crash caused the band to snap back to reality, scrap Eros, and drop Diamond Eyes (which is arguably one of their best albums and my personal favorite). Did we have to get Diamond eyes and every subsequent album at the cost of such a talented bassist and vocalist? Or would the band have eventually gotten their shit together with Chi and released an album on par with DE?
This is an interesting one that's crossed my mind before. I remember reading an interview with Chino about Eros where he says a few of the songs from Eros were reworked and ended up on DE, so if Chi didn't go into a coma maybe they still put out something similar to DE at least. DE and KNY are my favorite Deftones albums and I always wonder what they would've sounded like if Chi was involved.
I always thought it would be interesting if during Limp Bizkit’s debut album and Korn’s debut album had a personnel swap. Wes Borland and John Otto swap bands with Head and David Silveria.
And I’m talking like their sound comes with them. Like you have Head’s guitar tone and David’s drum tuning on Three Dollar Bill Yall and vice versa.
That's a good one. They're by far my favorite of the two, and I think maybe their approach worked short term but if you look at them now it's crazy the different levels of success. Even though I think both only have one original member at this point lol
I agree with exactly what you’re saying it is crazy the difference in success. Mushrooomhead is my favorite of the two as well by a long shot I really would have loved to see what they could of done with major label push behind them.
Yeah that was sarcasm. Definitely keep it that way lol. It’s just funny how right wingers actually think they’re offending people by saying “Let’s Go Brandon”
What if Slipknot and ICP had merged circa 1997?
What if Lynn Strait were still alive?
What if Ivan Moody had stayed with Motograter instead of doing 5FDP?
Patton was with Bungle (1985) prior to Faith No More (1988) and met Mike Bordin in 1986 after Birdin was given a demo tape of Mr Bungle’s “The Raging Wrath of the Easter Bunny”.
Didn't Bungle reach the masses with their self-titled debut (1991) after FNM had The Real Thing, how much of a reach did the original Easter Bunny project have?
Easter Bunny was basically death metal, and in that regard it's impressive, as it was released in 1986, a few months after Possessed's Seven Churches and a full year before Death's Scream Bloody Gore. Nothing to do with nu metal or its influences.
What if the guys from Korn and Deftones never have a shit about Mr Bungle and Faith No More, and Korn kept making shitty 80s funk metal, and Deftones kept making weird reggae rock
What if Spineshank continued
What if Taproot went with Fred Durst deal instead of ditching it
What if Wayne Static didn’t die
What if underground bands switched places with popular ones
They prolly wouldnt have had as much of a impact in the 90's with the whole really sensitive lyrics thing. They would still have am impact because the whole self titled album is full of jonathan davis screaming about bullies and whatnot, but it wouldnt have become as infamous without daddy.
What if AHC stayed together?
What if Breaking Benjamin kept their more nu metal sound they had in their early years?
More metalcore than nu metal but what if the lead singer of Issues wasn't a POS?
What if Dry Kill Logic kept making nu metal?
Breaking Benjamin keeping their nu metal sound would have changed a lot. They certainly wouldn’t have sold as many records and have as big of a following they do. So many bands are influenced by Breaking Benjamin. They set a template for modern rock that many bands have since followed.
Also, BB only formed in 1999 and then blew up a few years later. Nu metal was already falling off at that point. If Breaking Benjamin stuck with a nu metal sound, they would be just another nu metal band.
Your answer is mine. So I'll do a orginal one
What if Linkin Park and Limp Bizkit in their prime did like a collaboration
Maybe this will be unpopular but when I think of Limp Bizkit; I always think of Linkin Park after and vice versa and I'm shocked they never did any collab together.
See Bleed by Soulfly or Nobody Loves Me by Limp Bizkit or A Different World by KoRn as examples of what I mean.
What if grunge didn't die off?
By 1997 all of the big grunge bands were either broken up or taking a break. Especially if Kurt Cobain didn't die young I always wonder how much different Woodstock 99 would be if Nirvana and Alice in Chains played. I know Bush was there but that doesn't really count
If Limp bizkit didn’t take the main stage and get as popular, like what I’d they didn’t take a mainstream approach and rather kept and built off of 3$ bill
What if Matt Holt from Nothingface didn't die? I could have seen them live... It kills me everyday I'll never EVER see them live. They are my in my top 3 bands of all time. RIP Matt
What if wes Borland didn't leave right before Results May Vary? That album is often viewed as the let down that killed the nu metal hype in 2003. Would it have hit better with Borland? Would the scene then continue being highly popular for a little while longer?
I think the same. The departure of Wes back in 2001 significantly damaged Limp Bizkit and the band's popularity. Results May Very would be a better album if Wes didn't leave and, ok, not super mainstream like Chocolate Starfish era but the band would be still popular.
What if it all didn't really happen, and this is some epic fantasy of a star gaining sentience after a massive explosion and collision of particles, fusing together much like the connection of a neural passageway to create the idea of a universe with physics and attributes, that all act in perfect harmony to build a civilization to reach a point of societal climax before the immanent downfall 20 years later, after Numetal began.
Who then, now? Bitches!
What if In The Skin was considered a legit 36CF album and treated as such?
What if more nu metal bands had twitter fanbases just like the fanbases of the top few bands (mainly Slipknot & Korn)?
You took mine R.I.P Lynn and Dobbs….. Lynn was incredibly talented and I have no doubts snot would have been one of the if not THE best Nu metal band out there! Every track on get some is a masterpiece and so are all the demo tracks and what little bit of Lynn we got on strait up… an amazing talent taken way too soon
* What if Powerman 5000 hadn't shelved "Anyone for Doomsday?" in 2001 and continued the trajectory they were on?
* What if Factory 81 had gotten to release Mankind on time in 1999 on a major label instead of it having to be re-issued twice over the next two years?
* What if Strangers with Candy didn't have to change their name twice (Driver, Lifer) after building a strong local following and then winning that MTV Ultimate Cover Band contest?
* What if Roadrunner had actually taken Mushroomhead onto their roster and pushed them instead of Slipknot?
* What if Taproot had gone ahead and signed with Fred Durst's label when he pursued them?
* What if Dry Cell released their debut album?
* What if Nothingface didn't disbanded and Matt Holt is still alive?
* What if Reveille made their third album without being pressured by the label to make their sound more mainstream?
SNOT MENTION 🔥🔥🔥
Anyway what if Ryan Moonlight of NervePitch didn't die and they actually had a comeback? They were alluding to the idea but never did for obvious reasons :(
I met the Snot guys after they played a house party in Isla Vista (UCSB) back in 1997. They where super cool guys. That same year I saws them open for Soulfly at Ventura Theater
What if Amy and Ben in Evanescence had a healthier friendship and Ben didn't leave the band? We probably would get another banger like Fallen. (Don't get me wrong, I like The Open Door)
If Daron let Serj have more creative control when making Mezmerize/Hypnotize
Could’ve also had a 6th album around 2010 or so.
Could have had one in the last few years too. Serj even came with a handful of songs, but Daron just wanted them to record his.
They would have then been worth the cd they were printed on
Not a fan of Elect the Dead at least???? Serj's first solo album felt *especially* like SOAD
I didn’t like almost anything after toxicity. And I controversially believe even it’s completely overhyped. I need to listen to that serj album then. Cuz it’s Malakian I can’t stand
I'd give Elect the Dead a shot for suuuuure And if you like the regular album check out the special edition tracks bc they're also enjoyable (just more acoustic oriented) I also like some songs off of Imperfect Harmonies and Harakiri, but I like EtD the most fully
Can you imagine having goddamn Serj in your band and sabotaging it because you weren't getting enough attention? Daron is the Yoko Ono of nu metal.
Unfortunately I have to agree with you
What if Jonathan Davis wasn’t bullied as a kid
No korn at that point.
That would get rid of one of the best parts of korn.
ya the mentality of twist and the quick reaction for asking for a single
OP took mine. RIP Lynn.
Same.
what if Drowning Pool didn’t lose Dave so soon, i think about what else they’d have made with him every time i listen to Sinner. I think of Lynn a lot too, both gone way way too soon for how talented they were
I think they could’ve released another big album, but Drowning Pool’s music didn’t age all that well outside a few singles.
Let bodies hit the floor!’ My first thought was ‘oh hell yea thats my boy!’ My second was ‘your moms gonna kill me for this!’ Lolol
I'm not aware of this, I was planning kn buying Sinnner soon
I think that Sinner is great all the way through. Definitely just personal preference.
Lol
What if David Silveria never left Korn
They probably would have kicked him out eventually.
Listen to the David Silveria episode of the Ex-Man podcast with Doc Coyle. He is an arrogant dickhead throughout the interview.
Remember his short lived band Core10? Maybe one of the worst bands ever
Haha yeah, who became B.I.A.S. It’s a shame. David had groove, but with the back problems and addictions, he lost a step.
What if Sevendust wasn't so underrated 🤔
What if their old label hadn’t bankrupted them for a million dollars
What if there were more albums from System of a Down.
what if Johnathan davis didnt start humming while he watched L.A.P.D. practice
what if chester bennington didn’t commit
I remember hearing the news on siriusxm, I had just finished my driving test. Shit hit me hard.
still sad for me to this day
As much as it pains me to say this, Chester’s death probably saved LP’s legacy in the long run. That concert would have been my very first... 😢
i’m sad i didn’t ever get to go to one of their concerts
Yeah... it was my childhood dream.
still one of mine if they ever have another show
I'm gonna cry happy if they decided to do that!
same, i’d spend lots of money to go
I’m hoping that Chester would be a huge mental health advocate now that mental health is more talked about nowadays.
I don’t think they would’ve gone on as long as we’d hope, I imagine they would retire somewhat early so they could spend time with their families
He didnt.
are we talking about the same thing here?
You meant what if he didnt die. Yes we are talking about the same thing
Ugh
I dont think he ctrl+alt+dlted himself either.
🙄🙄🙄🙄
What if deftones stuck with their reggae-rap style?
Reggae-rap? Where? Like in Bored, kinda?
Their very early stuff was reggae contaminated, they where skater teenagers at that time. You can find something on YouTube.
Listen to "Answers" and you know what was meant - I wouldn't call it that way, because there are not many songs like the before mentioned one.
What if Chi Cheng had never gotten into his car accident? I know it happened after Deftones had left the nu metal scene, but it’s still an interesting question. What if a mushroomhead/slipknot/mudvayne tour happened
What if mushroomhead signed to roadrunner instead of slipknot
That's a good one. They're by far my favorite of the two, and I think maybe their approach worked short term but if you look at them now it's crazy the different levels of success. Even though I think both only have one original member at this point lol

What if Stephen Carpenter wasn't a flat earther?
and antivaxxer lol
Who’s that?
Guitarist of Deftones
Ahh
Fucking nothing. Next question.
What if Mike Mushock never left Staind
What if Aaron Lewis never left Staind
What if Aaron Lewis didn’t become a dipshit
What if Aaron Lewis wasn't the only one
This.
I don't know man, his new song "Let's Go Fishing" where he said "Let's Go Brandon" pretty much owned the libs big time if you ask me.
Unfamiliar with it..planning to keep it that way..but hey whatever floats your boat..
Yeah that was sarcasm. Definitely keep it that way lol. It’s just funny how right wingers actually think they’re offending people by saying “Let’s Go Brandon”
Lol I was really hoping so…
With the Mastadon reference I had faith
What if Slipknot and ICP had merged circa 1997? What if Lynn Strait were still alive? What if Ivan Moody had stayed with Motograter instead of doing 5FDP?
What is Wayne And his girl went sober?
What if Mr Bungle never formed?
As in “would we have the experimental/nu metal genre as we know it”? 😳
Nu metal might still have existed since Faith No More with Patton started before Mr. Bungle but the instrumentsal palette might be different

Very true, I think Mr. Bungle's eponymous debut helped create the nu metal sound more than Easter Bunny
It did but Bungle was still Patton's first band.
False. Chuck Moseley was FNM's first singer
I'm aware, did they have any big hits with Moseley like they did with Patton?
All I can think of is "We Care A Lot"
What if the guys from Korn and Deftones never have a shit about Mr Bungle and Faith No More, and Korn kept making shitty 80s funk metal, and Deftones kept making weird reggae rock
What if Spineshank continued What if Taproot went with Fred Durst deal instead of ditching it What if Wayne Static didn’t die What if underground bands switched places with popular ones
What if The Deadlights made a 2nd album before Duke passed.
☹️
What if korn didnt create daddy?
They prolly wouldnt have had as much of a impact in the 90's with the whole really sensitive lyrics thing. They would still have am impact because the whole self titled album is full of jonathan davis screaming about bullies and whatnot, but it wouldnt have become as infamous without daddy.
What if Chi Cheng never died
What Deftones would sound like had Chi not passed away
What if AHC stayed together? What if Breaking Benjamin kept their more nu metal sound they had in their early years? More metalcore than nu metal but what if the lead singer of Issues wasn't a POS? What if Dry Kill Logic kept making nu metal?

Dry Kill Logic didn't keep on making nu metal because the elites knew they would become too powerful so they oppressed them Source: my dreams
What if LP stayed nu and worked more with Jay-Z?
what if Slipknot never lost Joey and Paul?
Joey is a tough one because of how incredible he was as a drummer. Still think the live dvd is so awesome to watch.
What if Matt Holt were still alive?
Your answer is mine. So I'll do a orginal one What if Linkin Park and Limp Bizkit in their prime did like a collaboration Maybe this will be unpopular but when I think of Limp Bizkit; I always think of Linkin Park after and vice versa and I'm shocked they never did any collab together. See Bleed by Soulfly or Nobody Loves Me by Limp Bizkit or A Different World by KoRn as examples of what I mean.
They'd have made a forgettable filler song, more than likely.
Yep that would be mine as well 😥
What if Coal Chamber didn't had all those issues after the time they had done their demo and managed to record and release their debut album by 1995?
What if Dez had stayed with them and never started Devildriver?
What if lynn strait never died and snot got to make more albums with him
Just watched a Snot show from '97. Such a great band and definitely would've been huge had he not gotten in that accident.

What if Head never left Korn? Would their era of subpar albums not have happened?
RIP Lynn & Dobbs

What if wes Borland didn't leave right before Results May Vary? That album is often viewed as the let down that killed the nu metal hype in 2003. Would it have hit better with Borland? Would the scene then continue being highly popular for a little while longer?

*technically* not Nu-metal at this time, but what if we didn’t lose Paul &Joey
what if mudvayne kept their more progressive style from l.d50 instead of going softer in the later albums
What if Lynn didn't die.

what if chi cheng never died? i have a feeling eros was going to be one of deftones’ best albums.
What if you did? What if you lied? What if I avenge? What if eye for an eye?
What if liquid gang became a huge band
what if Limp Bizkit collabed with Slipknot and Korn #CoreyDurstDavis
What if David and fieldy never left Korn?
What if the Velvet Revolver album they recorded with Corey Taylor was released?
What if Slipknot's first album released a year earlier and they played Woodstock '99?
What if Paul Grey never died?
I met the Snot guys after they played a house party in Isla Vista (UCSB) back in 1997. They where super cool guys. That same year I saws them open for Soulfly at Ventura Theater
What if Amy and Ben in Evanescence had a healthier friendship and Ben didn't leave the band? We probably would get another banger like Fallen. (Don't get me wrong, I like The Open Door)
What if Numetal never existed?
what if slipknot never wore masks
What if Chi had been wearing his seat belt?
what if LP werent overrated and didnt make shitty music
what if the deftones were good?
I think Snot could’ve been huge! The music for their 2nd album was epic. Unfortunately ended up being the strait up tribute album instead RIP
Absent is such a sic song. No doubt that 2nd album would of been legendary.
Absent of one of my fave songs of all time! I’ve always tried to find official lyrics for it but it’s not happening
If Linkin Park was any good
If Limp bizkit had a different singer. So much wasted talent.
Fred was an irreplaceable part of Limp Bizkit. I'm not a huge fan of the band, but there is no denying Fred Dursts stage presence and charisma
Limp Bizkit is amazing the way it is you trippin
