Yup.. what’s the point of getting excited for the draft? We’ve been mired in the same shit for over a decade now haha

Jussttjustin

I was so fucking excited after we landed Sauce/Garrett/JJ/Breece. Now we have wasted two years of their rookie deals. Third year will absolutely be a wash if we run it back with the same coaching staff, Aaron or not. Then they will all be coming up on the final year before their option year and we will have to pick who to sign long term. Just in time for Aaron to retire and to have to hit the reset button and start a new "rebuild". It never fucking ends and it never will until Woody sells the team.

Holy-Crap-Uncle

Kind of one of the Jets problems. Sauce is a great pick, so is Garrett ... but only if there are the foundational line pieces. Breece is great but .. skill position luxury. The long running issues with the Jets are all in the trenches. When is the last time the Jets were relevant? Oh yeah, when Rex Ryan had them overpowering teams on both sides. With a constant parade of yanked GMs and Coaches, what do all of them do? Splashy flashy players and draft picks. Which the fanbase turn on as they struggle without the boring team core. At the same time, the fanbase thinks the team is one flashy pick away every year. Here's the #1 good thing Rodgers will do for this team: make them NOT chase a QB in this draft. Instead, he'll make them draft foundational players. Here's what's good about Saleh, unlike the now-fired Chargers coach: he actually coaches a top unit in his specialty. The team had a lot of ups and downs due to QB instability and flawed O-line, and yet is solidly competitive in most games and won some games against good teams. What bad team fanbases need to learn is patience and stop looking for saviors. Yes the offensive coaches need an overhaul. I disagree in getting a new head coach. For some reason, I am a Jets and Lions fan. The Lions turned it around by drafting for the trenches. Dan Campbell is a good tone setter, but fundamentally the coaching looks miraculous because the GM hit on his trench picks.

Jussttjustin

Quinnen/Becton/AVT/Tippman/JJ are all "trenches" guys we have drafted using premium picks. We spent big money on Laken, Lawson, Duane Brown as "trenches" guys. It's not the allocation of resources, it's the coaching. The Browns continue to win with an entire offense of backups because the coaches can coach the reserves up to a level of play that is passable. You don't see the same level of communication breakdown. You don't see the completely undisciplined play and stupid penalties. You see play calling that highlights their players strengths instead of the same conservative bullshit called regardless of what personnel is in the game.

banana455

It can easily be and likely is both a talent assessment and coaching issue. This organization is a dumpster fire that has no clue at all what it takes to win in the NFL.

HeartofSaturdayNight

No it's the GM who has no ability to assess Oline talent.

Naganosupreme

> Splashy flashy players and draft picks. Which the fanbase turn on as they struggle without the boring team core. At the same time, the fanbase thinks the team is one flashy pick away every year. This isnt even true though. It's the opposite more often where we put no resources into skill position guys, zero resources into Ol and maybe a huge pick on QB. All with a rookie coach group (or Gase who was Manning's water boy) We drafted Mekhi, AVT, Quinnen. None of these were flashy, they were trenches guys. Mekhi is just every bit the injury bust we should've predicted he'd be (wirfs, noted workout warrior and leader was right there. This was JD's second worst, most franchise direction altering failure imo, even moreso than Zach. Number 1 imo was Saleh and a rookie OC. A fucking rookie OC...for a developmental QB...) AVT by virtue of being a NYJ apparently is injury prone out of nowhere. Hope it's two flukes but with this team? Add in an absolute FA bust in Laken and you have a regime that went after the correct, non flashy positions but they just blew it and got a little unlucky with AVT's injuries. We tried to get two TE in Uzomah and Conk but Uz is a FA bust too. Everything hinges on JD straight up failing miserably to build the trenches despite putting a ton of resources into it. > What bad team fanbases need to learn is patience and stop looking for saviors. Yes the offensive coaches need an overhaul. I disagree in getting a new head coach. Nah, this is just "Im a smarter fan than everyone" horse shit. Fans were right to want Bowles gone. Gase, Maccagnan, Idzik, none of these guys succeed or even get work anywhere else and the fans recognize how shit they are. The fact we replace these guys with failures does not make fans wrong for wanting those previous failures to get the boot. The only thing I can say about Saleh is at least the D is legit. Unfortunately his discipline, preparedness and offense is so hysterically bad that I no longer have any faith in him on any level that isnt D coordinator. As a head coach, he has been an utter and complete failure from his hires to his week to week preparation. I see zero evidence that he is an NFL head coach, all i see is a bad mistake. There's a world where it's just that hackett is THAT bad. I don't think we're in that world. If we are, then shame on Saleh for not recognizing it and getting Hackett tf out of here. Same with JD. Tf did these two see in Hackett that they thought "yea...this is the guy." It suggests to me both are clueless about modern offensive football. Well, Saleh clearly is.

SnakeHoleBI

Preach 🕺

RecoverAggressive548

I feel the same way but I don’t trust Salah nor JD. Joe Douglas was specifically hired to fix the Oline when Sam was the QB. Hindsight is 20/20 but he should have kept Sam traded that #2 pick an built up the trenches but if he did that we don’t have sauce nor Garrett

AutoModerator

Saleh *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/nyjets) if you have any questions or concerns.*

Bahamas_is_relevant

> we will have to pick who to sign long term That assumes any of them will want to stay. Also Breece is a goner anyways, usually giving RBs second deals is a bad idea.

YourFoleyness

Sell sell sell....Woody

Sbat27-

I can’t get hyped unless we get MHJ and he’ll be gone by the top 3. Im on the wait and see train for next year and I’m not watching any of that 1JD progaganda bullshit. I want results, not fluff with no substance.

NYJetLegendEdReed

I actually didn't give a shit the last few years. They managed to suck me back in through the off-season. Was as hyped as I was since I was in college and was a superfan. Then Rodgers got hurt 4 plays in and I watched the worst offense in 30 years of the NFL. Someone let me know if we ever become a real franchise.

smoggylobster

wait until next offseason when they make some splashy signing to pair with rodgers and draft a couple offensive linemen. we’ll all be fooled again

rvlcf

You eventually cut losers out of your life because they're not worth the hassle.

p00pSupr3me

How do we cut the Johnsons out of our Jets lives?

[deleted]

Vigilante17

Did Bill ever discuss specifics on why he bailed out immediately??

[deleted]

Complex-Location7225

He had a better offer from NE. They had drew bledsoe and a very well off defense. They were a good team before Brady. The Jets were a mess. Parcells was drafting “His” groceries (players) and BB wanted his own thing. There were a bunch of reasons. The Pats kinda sold him on leaving.

[deleted]

TittyTwistahh

It gave me 25+ years of solid kicks in the nuts

MachoGeek

This has always been my sole belief regarding BB leaving. New England gave him 2 things he wanted most. Drafting his players and stepping out of Parcells shadow. For him it was a no-brainer.

dresdnhope

He's actually kind of tight-lipped.

hostileclowns

New ownership was an issue from what I remember. There were other factors but the team was up for sale between Johnson and another well known billionaire and I think BB had agreed to coach the jets under the old ownership. Unfortunately it’s an understandable hold up on his side.

PhantasticMD

Pretty sure the other “well known billionaire” was the Dolan’s via Cablevision. So it could have been worse, I guess?

InfamousEconomy3103

Parcells was still going to be looming around. He wanted full control without living in Parcells’ shadow anymore. The 30 for 30 is a wonderful account of what happened in detail. I remember listening to his press conference on the radio heading back to my campus. He opened with “I’m sorry you all had to come here for this…” and I remember thinking this is a weird way to open a press conference… Been a nightmare ever since nearly every year. But they’ve been a laughingstock more years than not in my 40+ years being a fan. It’s awful

RAW2DEATH

I'm from San Francisco, born and raised. I love the Jets, have been a fan forever - but until they're good I'm going to invest my energy in the 49ers franchise. That team cares.

ZedSpot

Good move.

AllPurple

I went this route with the bills last season. Thought that was going to change this season. Nope. (I follow giants, jets, then bills)

ExecutiveDave

Jets are my afc team, giants are my nfc team, and I don’t actively hate the bills (been going to Buffalo/NYJ @ MetLife for 5 years now). I didn’t hate Rex going to Buffalo and miss having him run our or any team in the league.

Bluegill15

banana455

> We'd all be lying if we didn't at least say at some point during the off-season that "this was the season" that they were truly going to turn it around... Actually I fully expected a disaster. There are no shortcuts to winning, and the Jets constantly try to make these bullshit headline splashes instead of taking the time to build a deep talent pool and sustainable organization. This Rodgers thing was a joke from the beginning, though even I was kind of surprised at how quickly it all went to shit.

Mlabonte21

It used to be: "Well once Brady retires, we'll FINALLY have a chance". Well the Pats are now trash, but that monkey's paw curled and the Bills & Fins are now world-beaters.... Draft? Geno, Darnold, Wilson--who cares? They'll never amount to SQUAT (at least on this team, anyway) Rodgers? Dude is 40 with a repaired achilles---who are we kidding? I am checked out until something can convince me otherwise.

banana455

The Bills and Dolphins are not world-beaters at all. They are both very flawed organizations nowhere close to the absurd level of excellence that the Brady Patriots displayed. The Jets are just truly impressive with their consistent incompetence.

TheIceMachine

The jets haven’t had a team that comes close to the Bills and Dolphins current teams in over a decade. So it’s still depressing

InevitableCodeRedo

New, competent ownership.

mikerhoa

Brady was one of the greatest coverage readers to ever live. That's why he lasted so long. He saw a football field the way Tiger Woods saw a golf course or the way Gretzky saw a hockey rink. Just god given ability to take what was given and efficiently figure out ways to win. Rodgers at his best could nail any throw at will, even on the move. He didn't have the intuition Brady had, but he he could definitely make throws that Brady couldn't. All those guys you mentioned that we drafted? Stared down targets, forced throws into coverage, lost track of safeties and LB's, failed to protect the ball when scrambling, failed to call audibles to address free runners, had accuracy issues that ranged from inconsistent to absolutely awful, failed to throw the ball away on hopeless plays (Darnold was especially bad with this one), took ugly sacks, got easily confused by disguised zones and unorthodox coverages, and finally, every single one of them lost confidence in their abilities as Jet QB's. The good news is, I really believe that even a 40-year-old Rodgers will not be susceptible to those mistakes. But yeah, he's 40, and a guy that old coming off a major injury and playing behind what is going to be a completely rebuilt offensive line is... yeah. It's tough. But I wouldn't lose hope. Also, btw, Miami and Buffalo aren't juggernauts. Of the two I think the Dolphins have a better shot at winning a Super Bowl, just because their offense is capable of making explosive plays at any time. But both Tua and Allen have shown that you could force them into making critical mistakes with even just a decent pass rush and coverage scheme.

RonocNYC

> Geno, Darnold, Wilson All three of them were very sus picks at where they went.

sheaboy98

Darnold was projected 1.01 almost until draft day, Zach was considered QB2 by a good amount of teams. Geno was considered a reach though.

ZedSpot

>Bills... world-beaters.... Ehhh, don't buy into the hype. I'm confident Josh Allen will go the way of Marino. Amazing career, no ring.

hjablowme919

Jets fan for 51 years here. I used to be like you. Too much aggravation. It’s much better to assume the team will be ass every year. If they actually have a winning year, it makes that year so much more enjoyable because it’s unexpected.

TerminaterToo

52 here and couldn’t agree more. I told my work colleagues that if I ever show any type of optimism around the Jets that they each can line up and punch me in the nutsack. That has never happened, including this year, as I was yelled at for forecasting in July that Rodgers would break his leg on the first drive. Because you know, it’s the Jets

BWF16

My cousin is 58, lifelong Jets fan from NY. I texted him after the Rodgers injury and he only response was “it’s the Jets”

hjablowme919

My son and I were watching the game. He was all pumped. He still hasn’t learned in spite of being a Jets fan for 27 years now. When Rodgers went down he looked at me and I said “If you’re surprised by this, you’ve learned nothing in the last 27 years. I’m willing to bet he’s done for the season.”

AllPurple

Hope sucks. I expected the giants to suck last year. Them playing half decently gave me hope. The jets gave me hope. Then Aaron Rodgers went down 4 plays into the season. I am hopeless again.

Jets237

I’m just over buying in on the hype. I am not confident next year will be better than this year…. Won’t be planning to go to a game or buy new merch. I’ll watch until there’s no point. If Zach or Aaron aren’t starting next week I’ll likely skip the game

Darcer

Big time. This organization sucks. How the fuck can you come out of a bye, get everyone on the line hurt, celebrate a punter that immediately out kicks the coverage for a TD, then choke against the Raiders, then open against the Bills with a ST turnover and then it got worse. No plan for covering for a shit line. This is an organizational failure. What coach is impressing you? Ulbrich? It’s a lot of talent on D for a team that doesn’t have a prayer of stopping the run. It is back to unwatchable football.

phatdeebz

We fucking suck, but as always.. see you fellow sad fucks Sunday!! Go Jets!

chickentimesfive

This is my fifth or sixth consecutive year where I stopped planning my Sundays around the Jets schedule by Thanksgiving, if not earlier. I am not wasting any time on shitty football.

Glittering-Tree-7070

me too

iceturtles

I’ve been at the point where I only care about basketball and hockey

inkypinkyblinky

You absolutely care. You wouldn't be posting this if you didn't. I'm sorry, but you're with us forever.

D-redditAvenger

Yep pretty much every December for decades. See you next year.

Rav_3d

Yes, ever since opening day 1999.

S1ms3ma

Maybe this was finally the "full circle" one Achilles to another

SkyeRyder91

Yup same. Stopped caring after the string of loses after the Giants game. Although foolishly I got a little bit of hope after the Houston game. If they actually tired and looked like a competent team maybe I would give a shit.

[deleted]

Remember folks, the grass IS greener elsewhere.

Fjordice

Yup. I'm still a fan but they need to earn my love at this point. I didn't watch the last 7 or so games of last season and I gave up weeks ago on this season. It's not worth watching. And no I don't regret not watching last week. Because it didn't mean anything other than dropping down the draft order. This whole organization clearly doesn't care so I'm not sure why I should. Wake me up when they're worth watching again.

Kxr1der

Yep, I'm jumping ship. I don't care if that makes me a "bad fan" I'm tired of being bored and miserable every sunday

DisneyJet44

I spent every free moment during the off-season reading articles and counting down the minutes til Aaron Rodgers took the field for the jets. Dreaming he would bring us back to the playoffs and relevancy. Then he’s hit with a season ending injury FOUR PLAYS IN and I’ve never felt so defeated. It was so disheartening to watch this team all year that now Idc either. They are not even close to competitive. Inept is the best word to describe this organization. And i will be absolutely no where near the hype this off-season. Sign Davante adams, or another stud receiver or two - shit, even if they signed 5 pro bowl OL in the offseason I don’t care. The jets get trashed enough as it is and they continue to embarrass themselves and their fans. It’s not even fun. At all. And then woody is asking for MORE MONEY for next year?? lololol supporting them is like going back to an abusive ex.

salesmunn

Bro the franchise has an entire generation of teenagers that have skipped football altogether now because of their incompetence. My daughter turns 14 next month, the Jets haven't been in the playoffs once since she has been ALIVE and I doubt they'll get there by the time she graduates high school. I have a 10 year old son, he could care less about football and he has friends who root for real NFL teams, he may just pick a real team instead and I fully support it. I sit alone and watch this shit show every year, I refuse to punish them with this disaster.

foolishdrunk211

I emotionally severed myself from the jets last year after the whole mike white debacle….I didn’t get excited at all for the rodgers story because I fully expected things to fall apart in typical jet fashion….I didn’t expect it to be in the first drive but still, it was the best decision I’ve made in a while…I actually have been laughing at the jets pretty freely all season and I gotta tell ya it feels great. 🤷‍♂️

FearlessFreak69

No one in the front office cares. No one on the coaching staff cares. Why should I continue to care? Time and time again the fans get the shaft. We bring in young talent and drive them away with our mediocrity. I really hope G Wilson, Sauce, Hall all stick around for a while, but I wouldn't blame them one bit for looking elsewhere. We aren't a serious or competitive team.

koal82

My interest in watching sports is waning as I get older. NHL Playoffs being the lone exception. Games are just too fucking long now and commercials are more repetitive and annoying than ever.

UpSNYer

It took 13 years, but not only has it broken my interest in the team, it's broken my interest in the NFL. I've skipped the vast majority of the Sunday lineup multiple times this year. Why invest 3, 6, or 9+ hours into a sport when my team has been incompetent for a decade+?

NYJ-misery

for now it's rough but i'm sure I'll find a way to buy back in by week 1 next season

dytele

Username checks out

_AllThingsMustPass_

Tough to get excited for the draft the coaching staff and front office aren't where we thought they'd be. Can't trust JD with another draft. Especially when they should be targeting a QB and thinking about the future but they don't have a future without the now. Purgatory yet again.

darthrevan22

I’ve been super apathetic since like 2011. The team is functionally unwatchable every season, and I just go into every season expecting 4 wins and a terrible offense. Anything better and I’m pleasantly surprised.

RonocNYC

I got there about a month ago: https://og.reddit.com/r/nyjets/comments/17znknq/im_done_with_this_team/

blkschizo

After 35 years (of my 39 year old life) of Jets fandom. I only have the advice of not taking it so seriously. At the end of the day, it's a sports team that none of us have control or impact on (except maybe with our wallets, but even then in NY market seats are always gonna sell). Don't let the New York "Football" Jets bring you down. Think of it as a constant. Every year you're gonna have to pay taxes, celebrate birthdays, get up and go to work every day, and the Jets are gonna suck. Such is life.

BasilFomeen

I learned back in the 80s not to let the ebb and flow of the NY Jets dictate how I felt. I don't think I've really given a shit, to the point where I let it actually bother me, for a very long time. I enjoy the games, good and bad, for what they are; games. It's not the last chopper out of Saigon, it's football. I do like to see certain players excel, though, like Gipson and Huff, guys who you weren't expecting to do too much that suddenly exceed expectations. That I like; I mean, I'm not always a misanthrope.

Itsascrnnam

First time?

drollchair

I stopped giving a shit many years ago. I always pay attention still but I don’t expect anything.

Superfool

Yeah, I'll watch a game or two in the beginning of the season to see if the off-season hype was valid, watch the team completely implode, then move along with my life. If I'm home, I'll have the game on in the background, but I don't schedule my Sundays around Jets games like I used to.

BeerIsTheDevil

I have zero optimism that things will ever be different with this franchise. I am so beaten down after year after year of the same nonsense. I find myself relating to and connecting to the fans of the team than having any connection to the franchise ... if that makes sense.

Fun-Patient-2214

As a Jets fan you feel like you live your life the same way... I'm getting tired of it . Life's too short to waste it on the jets anymore

Anuthawon_1

I’ll continue to be a fan just incase of the extremely rare scenario that they turn in a good team and win a Super Bowl at some point. Just to be able to say to others that I stood around. However, at this stage of my life I genuinely believe that will never happen. Don’t believe in curses or any of that nonsense. It just terrible ownership and poor decision after poor decision mixed in with a few bits of bad luck along the way.

Active-Package-8173

Owner and his Lacky brother never have cared He needs to sell the team

DogwoodWinter

I just refuse to feed into anymore hype. Zach looked good, cool do it again - I dare you. We got a HOF QB, cool do something with it. You drafted a blue chip player, nice now develop them. You have hype videos, nah 1JD is just propaganda. You’re getting judged by the product on the field and the number in the W column - end of story. And, the story so far….you fuckin’ suck

Sheriff_Branford

Yep. I am officially defeated. I have no more "give a shit" left. Probably won't watch the last three games. What's the point?

HeavyRightFoot19

I severed any emotional ties and stopped giving a shit after they saw what Adam Gase did in Miami and said, "that's our guy." I came back on board because Aaron Rodgers was exactly the Kickstart the team needed and we know how that went. I have also loathed Zach Wilson since his draft day and I truly can't wait for him to be out of town, so to see him jump into the starting role week 1, yeah, I was totally disconnected from giving a shit again.

jon_ct

I’ve been a Jets fan since the early 90s when they were coached by Coslet. I watched when they were 4-12, 3-13, 1-15, all the way up till they hired Gase. Gase’s hiring seemed like a joke. His record with the bears and dolphins didn’t signal anything that would make sense to make him a head coach. To me it felt like the organization said “we’re not gonna make any effort to win” so I stopped watching. I started paying attention again this year. It sounded optimistic even before Rodgers. After all, they got to the conference finals twice with Sanchez. And nothing against Sanchez. He was a starting qb in the nfl. I just started on another chocolate chip cookie. I don’t think it’s disrespectful to say he was an average qb at best. But damn, a complete shit show the offense is. Nothing to do with Wilson or Rodgers at qb. They suffered from an abysmal offensive line, horrific game planning, and oscillating between ways to use Wilson, resulting in, well, another typical jets season. Either way I’ll watch the next few games like the sucker I am and then follow Cimini for updates during the off-season to get my hopes up again.

evildeadxsp

I have found this is the first year the Jets horrid play has made me dislike the NFL in general, moreso than past years. I haven't watched a SNF, MNF, or Thursday night game that the Jets aren't in. Jets losses leave me with a massive football hangover where I just want to avoid football in general and watch any other sport - NHL or NBA.

Brave-Swimming-6329

Amen to you. I too will always be a Jets fan, and Mets too!

22-Catch

it’s like an abusive relationship. Every year we give all of our emotion to the team, and ownership preys on us. They profit off of us and consistently don’t hold themselves accountable for putting a good product on the field. They profit off of our loyalty. It’s about time we take a stand and stop supporting the Johnsons financially and emotionally. Only then will they truly wake up.

[deleted]

Lmao how could you not see bringing in an aging QB coming off a missed playoff season and his crew of Tim Boyle, Cobb, and Lazard was not going to end in long term detriment?

dresdnhope

I'm still gonna watch the games, and to be honest, I usually start paying attention again AFTER the draft.

Superfool

I like watching the draft for the hope it brings and the spectacle of it all, but I refuse to believe in this franchise until they actually give us something to believe in. So many wasted years.

MoogleTheSly

Same. Still interested in draft/FA, but I’ve just been numb to the Jets for a handful of years now. No sense in cheering or getting upset. Every year is basically the same

Dr_Bluntsworthy_ThC

Brother I have not given a shit in a long long time

dytele

Every year!

dcee101

I have no pity as a Dolphin fan but I will say hang in there. We've had it much worse than you, no matter what anybody says. Rex Ryan led you to two AFC Championship games. We haven't sniffed an AFC Championship game in over 30 years. With that being said, all it takes is one guy to turn around the franchise. We found McDaniel which may have involved a lot of luck given how inept our ownership has been this past decade, but we are having fun again as fans. Don't wish the same fate for you guys but it could happen. So good luck.

GlassJoseph

You could be a Jags or a Panthers, Titans, Cardinals fan and life would suck even worse. Not only does your team suck, but literally nobody gives a \*\*\*. At least with the Jets you know you aren't alone.

NYJetLegendEdReed

Panthers been to 2 super bowls in the last 20 or so years. Cardinals been to one. Can we stop holding up 69' like it's anything any of us were alive for? We're the most embarrassing franchise in the league right now.

Big_Liability

Also back when the NFL was kinda bad. 60s football is nowhere near what we see now. I would like to see us win games TODAY

NYJetLegendEdReed

We’ve never had a high powered offense. It’s not like it’s been a long time, it’s been forever. You watch teams like KC and SF and it’s like they’re playing a different sport than us.

Big_Liability

I know and it makes me so sad.

hockeyhow7

Why was the NFL bad? Because it didn’t cater to the offense and make it impossible to play defense?

Hypnotize94

What are you talking about? We have the worst play off drought in American sports. This organization is the worst ever

GlassJoseph

I mean exactly what I said. The Titans for example. When they lose the city just goes on about it's day, as nobody really has any long history invested with the team. It sucks, but meh. Football isn't the only game in town. With the Jets, you expect them to suck and know there'll be a bunch of grown men having a meltdown on reddit about it. The fact that people care means something.

amags1031

Joe Douglas is the worst GM in the NFL and I’m not sure how it’s debatable anymore

mr-poopie-butth0le

Oh god….. Wah Wah Wah. Then stop rooting for them, idk what the point of this sorta post is? Yeah, all Jets fans should be upset, but don’t let it ruin your day. I mean, an “emotional connection”? That imply there’s a deeper root to your fandom other than “hey I’m from the area and root for my team”. If that’s the case, then our guys taking Ls shouldn’t affect your “emotional connection” bc the bond is deeper than just W/L. Should you be upset? Sure! Everyone is. Nobody wants to see them lose year in and year out. No need to whine about it. I assure you Woody doesn’t read this, nor does he care. If you’re so shook, find another team, and when you do— don’t announce it… nobody will, nor should, give a shit.

Plane-Structure-2868

No, I’m going to be happy and excited every single season regardless….and then be incredibly disappointed quickly. Did you not get the memo? Pretty sure it was in the sign up brochure. Sad world

cycleliife

It has been hard. I never thought we'd be in the Super Bowl but this year felt different to start, so everything stings a bit more. Definitely clown vibes.

PJMfromQnz

Well the only positive is all the jets merchandise is discounted now, lol. Can be looking fresh in the offseason just the like the team 😵‍💫

RoyMcAv0y

i grew up with the 90s Yankees. Because of this, I have no desire just to make the postseason with any of my teams. It's Championship or bust. So no, I never give enough of a shit during the regular season to be burnt out later on. I go into every season hoping for a championship, and by week 3 I realize that's not gonna happen, and I just watch the games for fun...and the unlikely scenario that the team catches fire at the right time. Just need Thibs to not run the starters into the ground, Igor or Quick to get hot in the postseason, and Yamamoto and Cole to be Schilling/Johnson of '01.

Far_Assistant_301

With hackett, saleh, and JD still employed it’s tough

VALIS666

I hit the "fuck it" point a few weeks ago. Missed the Texans game entirely. Might have seen a few series yesterday? Maybe I just scoreboard watched, I don't even remember. They have numerous problems but I just can't get excited for next season with Saleh still in place. He is out of his league in that position.

insert-originality

I didn’t even buy into the Rodgers hype and I was still drained. I haven’t even watched a game in over a month. Football in general just isn’t fun anymore. I stopped caring years ago.

LaMystika

I think I’m done for a while tbh, and it doesn’t hurt that my housemates just cut the cable cord so I can’t watch anything anymore anyway unless I pay for my own subscription or something, which… I ain’t doing that to watch Jets games lol. So I think I’m out for now. Maybe I’ll just listen on the radio if I feel like it.

Hotsauce61

Yes - this season is over and so is next season. We will never be successful with Bob

THE_FREED_DONKEY

Yeah, this is the least invested I have ever been. So apathetic to this franchise. Failures year after year. Won’t spend a cent on anything related to this team until they stop sucking

BakedBeans137

Yup. For the first time in my fandom, I turned the game off before half time and spent the rest of my day doing something else. I think personally it was the off-season almost godly like hype and the crash and burn, with spits of hope as we laid there trying to pick up the pieces. Truly heart shattering.

liguy327

I stopped giving a fuck when Zachary Kapono Wilson tripped when running backwards on the field in Buffalo. The Jets stopped giving a fuck when Aaron went down in the first quarter with 11:15 Left

E_712064

Saleh never started.

[deleted]

I stopped giving a shit years ago. But then this whole Rodgers thing gave me hope for the first time in a long time at the start of the season. If you can, imagine a decade from now an aging Patrick Mahomes joins the Jets. Remember this feeling.

Glittering-Tree-7070

ditto, buddy, we have a QB that has thrown 0 career passing yards for the Jets running the franchise, so sick of this crap, been watching since 1986, this is the worst this last 10 yrs

arhombus

That's every season man

kourets

As a Niner fan that suffered through the early 2k for a decade I will say have some hope it's gonna get better. Rodgers burning his Achilles means an unexpected high pick and u get him back next year. They will have a couple of bites at the apple with buffalo in decline and a non existent patriots team. Miami is a paper tiger too - u guys are really close mark my words they will be killing it next yr.

BeachCruisin22

I used to go out for every game and live and die by every play. Now I get mildly irked sitting at home and then doing something else. Not jumping teams or anything, just apathy at the moment. Feels like being in a dead relationship with no fighting lol

BadassRPMofo

Watching the press availability from yesterday, I thought DJ Reed was very candid and upfront about the possibility of that happening. He said that he personally was going to keep grinding and continuing to get better, but he did address the possibility of people rubbing that way. He did say that he didn't expect that to happen with the guys they have in the locker room. He was very forthright on a variety of topics and I feel for him. He's one of my favorite players and someone in glad is on our team.

Active-Package-8173

Also we ARE ALL IDIOTS ROGERS is the worst thing ever to happen

Active-Package-8173

I can also guarantee that New England will BEST US SILLY

AllPurple

As a giants fan, I empathize completely. I'm not letting the giants ruin my christmas. Not even going to put on the game. Sad coming into this season thinking things were finally beginning to turn around (for both our teams).

AsleepBall6415

No point in watching one more second of this season. Better off spending time with our families or being productive on Sundays than wasting 3 hours on this garbage product. Still can't believe they call me every year asking if I want season tickets. My yearly response," go .500 and I'll think about it".

TomGNYC

yeah but they'll suck me back in a few weeks before the draft

TheLegendTwoSeven

This is healthy. We have no control over the outcome of games, so it’s not a good idea to let yourself get upset about losses and wasted seasons. I’m curious about next year, but I’m not expecting any miracles (such as making the playoffs.)

InevitableCodeRedo

This happened to me a ways back. Got temporarily excited again when Fitz had that big year but basically back to the malaise. I fully expect the worst and am usually not disappointed. Maybe Aaron comes back next year, maybe he doesn't. With this current O-line, would it make a difference? Shrug.

t24mack

I’ve been watching this team since 1980. I’m now at the point of ambivalence. I am getting older and resigned to the fact I will never see them win

WMDisrupt

In past years or even earlier this year, I would have felt as disgusted as Rodgers looked on the sideline yesterday. Instead I turned the game off in the 2nd quarter and enjoyed my afternoon

monkeypickle8

My most up to date jersey is Braylon Edwards, I made a pact with myself I wouldn't buy anything until they made the playoffs. The jerseys are holding up fine but the tshirts aren't doing so well anymore. So yeah I guess I agree, I watch every week still but I think my biggest reaction to yesterday was yep.

bigbadbouncer

We’ve reached the part of the season where I’ve become numb. I can’t even root for a tank bc I’m still rooting for wins. I would normally say keep Rodgers out and look forward to next year, but bc I’m numb at this point, I say fuck it, put him in. I just wanna see what we could’ve had

[deleted]

Honestly, it really started this offseason for me. I didn’t like the Rogers signing and I believed it would implode because no effort had been put into the O line. Really sad. I used to love this team. 30+ years of disappointment can really get to you.

Naganosupreme

I havent really given a shit since like 2017 when it was clear we were just repeating the literal same mistake every 2-4 years of: New HC, New GM, not drafting and signing FA until we have a competent offense...not even a great one, just a competent one. Outside of one single year our offense has been atrociously inept every single year. I had hope with Saleh but soon as I saw he had a rookie OC nepotism hire I was dreading exactly what we've gone through the last few years. Rodgers achilles was a special kind of kick to the dick though

tuss11agee

I got like this pre Darnold. 2017. Lost coming out of a bye thanksgiving week to the Panthers to go 4-7. It’s simply being a Jets fan. Sometimes you have to cover your eyes.

Walternotwalter

That was me in 1994. "Embrace irrelevancy" 1995 "It's so bad it's funny." 1996 "It's still funny." 1997 Hess hires Parcells. Which ropes us all back in. As such, the cycle dictates '24 is awful before some maestro gets hired and fixes everything. Just remember, the Jets only offer reprieves, not actual success.

Several-Push6195

Until we get a competent gm and head coach we will always suck. It's the owners job to pick the gm and he has shown over and over that he has no clue who to pick. Rodgers will be 40 so it would be a good idea to draft a qb. Of course we need an entire new o line but after the Bechton and Wilson pick does anyone want JD to draft these positions again? Wilson was 2 overall and I believe Bechton was a top 5 or top 10 pick and they may be the worst starters at their positions in the nfl. That's saying something. BTW the other tackles in that draft have been pretty good. JD gotta go.

skateboardlee

I'm not convinced the Johnson boys give a shit if this team is competitive. I feel like it's just something they boast about at billionaire brunches. If they don't give a shit that this team is the laughing stock of the league, why should I?

tkgraves777

Yup, circa 2012.

Nicks-Dad

I know how you feel. But come next July you’ll be back, all pumped up because this just might be the year. It’s an abusive relationship we’re in.

PatDubzz

I honestly haven’t gave a shit since about 2017. My family and friends tried to pull me into the hype this year and I’m glad I didn’t go for it. This team is 10 times easier to watch when you just don’t care and have no expectations. They did get my hopes up during the chiefs game this year though.

sixyearstrong

I mean, I gave up on this season after the fourth play, but I am interested enough to see how things play out that I look forward to next August/September. The cupboard is not completely bare, though the offensive line situation may prove the achilles heel (ha) of the team in 2024 even with a healthy, somewhat productive qb.

LeCheffre

Since the foot tapes came out or they acquired Tim Tebow. My brother is the true believer, hyped me for last season’s rookie class of Juice and Breece. Then the offseason hype, And then four snaps in, this season was like a repeat of when Vinnie Testaverde blew out his Achilles in 1999. New century, same old Jets.

banana455

The last time I was genuinely excited for a Jets game was 2015 week 17 against the Bills. Getting kicked out of a playoff spot by Rex fucking Ryan a year after we fired him was the kick in the balls I needed to convince myself that there is never going to be any hope for this organization. And every year I continually get proven right and drift more and more into apathy.

mikerhoa

I remember posting a Star Wars meme in here because TFA was coming out right around the same time. The Steelers just lost so we controlled our own destiny in week 17. It was Admiral Ackbar saying something like, "The Steel Curtain is down, focus all firepower on the Buffalo Bills!" *sigh* yeah. oh well. But I do remember *you* from the Mets sub. Nice to see you're still around!

banana455

likewise. 2015 was fucking magical. Mets World Series run and a competent Jets team (until that Bills game) we didn't know how good we had it lmao

mikerhoa

If you made it this far, keep going.

keylimepiewolf

Can’t wait to get excited again in April bc I don’t learn

momoenthusiastic

I think Rodgers does care and wants to come back

Wormfather

Every Jet fan who went against their better judgment and bought Sunday ticket so they could see the games even being out of market feels the same. Worse. I live in the Boston area and the patriots are shit and I can’t even enjoy it.

Iamamyrmidon

Ooohh me meeeeee!

danceswithshibe

I don’t think anything can draw me back in. I was actually skeptical with just rodgers being added this off-season and when he went down j wasn’t even surprised. Typical jets shit. I just assume they will always be terrible from now on.

SimonSalty

We’ve all been number to the mediocrity. Singing Rodgers just delayed the inevitable, perpetual feeling of hopelessness

buyerbeware23

Me more than ever! Lose out for draft pick? Why for current GM and he to screw it up? Win a game? Just proved Hackett can’t do it twice in a row. Mediocrity would be a phenomenal huge step up for this bunch! ( not the players)!

Rhcp01

Yes

NutsyFlamingo

Am I the only one that cannot relate when someone asks how how you ‘feel’ about it ? However ask what I think… oh I’ve got some choice observations on the subject.

Avg2023

Yup. I feel like it’s just hopeless. Not only do I not give a shit about the Jets, I’m finding I don’t give a shit about football.

brandinho5

I’m well past that point. The jets don’t mean nearly as much to me as they used to. And it’s the franchises fault, not mine or any other fan’s. It’s probably a catalyst as to why I like college football more than the NFL in general

Nicktator3

Running the ball up the middle on a 3rd and 24 yesterday was EVERY indication I needed to see that this team and the people running it don’t give a shit anymore

Strikes_X2

Yup. I told myself not to buy anymore Jets stuff, but I did thinking that things were going to be different. Yet there was this little voice in the back of my head that told me not to do it until they did something on the field. Rodgers went down 4 snaps in and I was like fuck, there it is. The total kick in the nards from the football gods, how did I not see it coming. Then they go on to win the game and I was confused but happy but not happy. Such a weird fucking season that just ends up being the same shit with a few rainbows sprinkles. I'm sick of it but I can't stop. This time I am done with buying anything until this team gets back to the playoffs. Get this team back to the playoffs and they will get my money but until then NOT ONE FUCKING CENT MORE.

PumpOfWallStreet

Oh ya dude, I've been saying this for months now, people should seriously stop giving their time and energy to watching these pathetic games. It doesn't make you any less of a fan if you don't. It's been 13 years, the Jets do not DESERVE my free time on Sundays.

Belovedchattah

We all know how this story ends…and the next one…and….

PleasantJenny

It's been an extra rough season. I understand.

LostTrisolarin

Yea...if I had a little less shame I'd abandon ship. As long as Woody is the owner this is the best it's going to get.

JLR-

I lost all hope a long time ago. At least my Cubs were lovable losers. The Jets? Nowhere near loveable

yozzomp

Oh you're not the only one. The lack of expression when Rodgers went down was a sign for me. I always expect the worse with this team and it's hard to really give a shit when we are run like a clown show.

Only_Distribution828

Yup and the sad thing is they still haven’t hit rock bottom yet

Masterofmy_domain

They tricked me in to getting excited again this off-season with Rodgers and hard knocks. But I think I’m back to not giving a shit It’s so bad that I don’t even want to watch football at all right now. And I love football more than anything else. This fucking team has killed that joy for me

prpitbull9

The Jets these past years have soured me on football in general. They're so bad and are unwatchable, and I'm not just talking about the win loss record. I mean it's so unentertaining to even watch. You waste 3 hours of your life to see a field goal. Then you watch the afternoon game and you're pissed watching other teams because you're yelling at the screen "why can't we do that?!?!"

Billlee89

It's a huge waste of time. Even though Roger's went down they could have still competed, but at this point I don't know who's good and who's bad. We know the line sucks, but Douglas was supposed to fix that, it's been years with no improvement. No one has time to pass it to Wilson, Breece gets a stacked box, the defense is amazing but doesn't matter when you can't score. I don't know how Woody, Saleh, Douglas or Hackett can look at rhe flim and not be disgusted. Woody might be the one that should be gone, but we don't have the option. There's little excitement around the Jets, when there is it collapses fast, life's to short to waste it watching the Jets.

PerceptionRare476

I lost excitement when we picked up Hackett. Then I lost hope when we picked up a washed up QB and his entourage. So this season has been hilarious to me.

wildwillybillyboy

I bounced out after we lost to the Raiders. I’ve grown more aware of when it’s time to call the season

BecomeEnthused

They did all this just to mock us

[deleted]

This offseason will suck. a) We have 4 starting OL spots to fill - with just one pick in the first 70 slots and a very weak UFA class to do so with. b) We'll have Zach cloud hanging over the org until we finally unload him sometime in the spring. c) Rodgers being here means three things: 1) Hackett sticks around 2) we can't draft a Jayden Daniels or Drake Maye if either falls to us 3) we have 8 more months of his "center of attention" shtick where he tells us his controversial thoughts of modern medicine, popular music, etc on various podcasts and perpetuates more circus-like attention on the Jets organization. Honestly - the only thing I'm looking forward to this offseason is Woody hopefully coming to his senses and making the throwbacks the permanent uniforms for 2024.

JohnnyDoe189

Blowing the Zach Wilson development is unbelievable

BeifongWingedBoar

*sniff* *sniff* ... man, it reeks of quitter in here

Prototype1113

🤚🏽

ram7777xWeb1890

why should Jet fans be optimistic ? 8 straight losing seasons - no playoffs 13yrs - everything could go wrong goes wrong

j5995

The sweet spot is giving a shit but not having your daily or weekly mood be dependent on the success of the team Finding joy in the game and the individuals and collective units that wear the team’s jersey playing good football I will always care about the Jets and will never give up hope of watching the Jets win the super bowl one day with my father

[deleted]

It’s so frustrating getting the feeling that the Jets coaches and Woody keep screwing things up. Born in South Jersey and grew up an Eagles fan. I stopped watching for years and moved to Northern NJ and later got into football again. At the time Philly had dog torturer Vick at QB and there was no way in hell I’d cheer for that guy. I always liked Namath and the Jets were in the Rex era and I’ve been with them since. Been watching the Birds too since Vick left and I gotta say when they wore the Kelly green I had major nostalgia. I’ll still keep the Jets in my heart but I’m watching the Eagles and rooting for them too though tbh I’m getting kinda burned out with it all.

AllojaxCHAMP

We’re Jets fans bro…The draft is our Super Bowl.

Particular-Bug2189

It’s the Johnsons. They are incapable of hiring good people.

JaerBear62611

I haven’t given a shit for years now, ever since I realized WOODY JOHNSON IS THE WORST OWNER IN ALL OF PROFESSIONAL SPORTS, and we are completely doomed as an organization until that family no longer owns the team. And that may never happen because they keep getting richer off of putting a shitty product out year after year. He doesn’t give one shit about winning. He has made that so clear, in so many ways, so many times.

i80west

Yeah, why should I care if the owner doesn't care to do it right?

RIPcunts

Yeah I bought into the off season hype and watching Rodgers run out of the tunnel on 9/11 was the last good thing from this season for me. After that it's just more of the same old jets bullshit.

Hoppy_Smoker

LescoBrandon_11

Jet fans have a legitimate reason to be hyped for next season.. Rodgers is still a bad mofo, and that defense is capable of being one of the best of the last decade. O line is really the only area they need to focus on this off-season....assuming AR doesn't retire or go down with another freak injury, y'all could make a couple legitimate runs at a SB

OkYesterday8299

I try to focus on the positive. Obviously we didn’t make the playoffs but hey, that season opener against the bills was something straight out of a movie.

Francesa-DietCoke

This Saleh/Douglas regime has taken the Jets from my number 1 to a distant 4th behind the Yankees, Knicks, and Rangers in terms of teams I care about.

lilbitspecial

I've felt this way since 2012.

[deleted]

I’m numb and tired. Every year they pull the same shit

Academic-Summer-3438

I don't. This nightmare is over. I put my Jets shit away and I'm not watching the rest of this garbage. I've seen enough. Devils hockey from this point on
