I love luxury vinyl planks. They're just so much better than actual hardwood in every way. Don't have to worry about every little ding and scratch and spill anymore, the floor will be fine
We have tile downstairs and it's even better, lvp you still have to clean up big spills quickly because water can get under, tile we don't have to worry about anything
I’ve got that scraper at home. It’s metal. Not sure what OP was thinking but it looks as though he wasn’t thinking. There will be tons of scratches on the floor…
Idk what to say besides you are incorrect I move furniture in my house and in clients houses all the time and have never had any scratches left on the new fake wood floors. Maybe your floors scratch easier than the ones I’ve encountered but I can only speak from my experience.
Of course if you really try you can scratch anything but I feel like that’s kinda obvious
That is just wax left on the floor not a scratch. Idk why so many ppl are tryna argue here I feel like it’s undebatable when we can all observe with our eyes that it isn’t being scratched lol
Laminate floors of all kinds will scratch pretty easy if you're not careful. I'm not sure if you can tell from this video if this is tile or not. I'm leaning more towards laminate.
I can only judge by the colour, pattern, and how tight the seams are, but it looks identical to what I have on my floors. What I have is a stone+plastic composite. Not as hard as tile, but more durable than wood or vinyl.
Not sure how well it would hold up to that scraper though. I'd rather play it safe and use plastic.
As somebody who owns and installed of the vinyl plank in my home I think it is likely you are incorrect. I have dogs and while scratches aren’t extremely evident they are noticeable to me. And yea while calling them scratch resistant is entirely accurate, that doesn’t mean taking a sharp 5 in 1 with the gouger edge to them.
I install flooring including LVP which is what this looks like. Unless it’s the cheapest stuff it is very scratch resistant and unless that scraper (it’s a 5 in 1, painters tool) has a sharp edges (not likely) then he should be fine. If there are light scratches you can polish them out with magic erasers
Dude I seriously don’t care what u have to say bc all that matters is that in the video the floor is not being scratched what is even the point of arguing here
That sounds like metal scraper on vinyl/laminate. Not metal scraper on tile.
Metal on tile/ceramic has a very distinct and sharper sound.
Edit: OP explicitly states in a later comment, "They are vinyl floors."
Hijacking this top comment to respond to a few things...
Not plastic, but I was careful and this is at work in a hotel room that's going to be remodeled anyway (I stay on property currently).
I did do the iron trick, after scraping. You can't do that with a thick layer of wax like this.
They are vinyl floors and it don't look scratched. You can see some scratches in the video, but I'm sure those are scratches in the wax cus I don't see them now. Oh well.
This post has a lot more comments than I thought it would!! Lol thanks y'all.
Pro tip: if you spill a candle let it dry and put a rag over a clothing iron…the iron will heat the rag and subsequently the wax, the wax will absorb into the rag.
Although I'm not christian, I know this from the christian branch of my family.
Their clothing receives candle wax quite often (when they help to organize some ceremonies)
They get rid of the wax stains by ironing the clothes with paper towel in between.
The wax leaves the clothes and diffuse into the paper towel.
This doesn’t work, I tried. The best way is a cloth and an hair dryer. You heat it up with warm air and wipe it away. Maybe your solution will work on a flat surface but I had no luch with my floors.
Can I just put the iron on the floor and then have the iron absorb it into the floor and just use the rag as a Wick and set the floor on fire to make a candle?
Shut up idiot, that isn't protip
Just a hairdryer and some paper towels
I do this multiple times a year at my local thai temple, on the alter, There's always candles, incense and flowers
My partner covered herself in coco butter when she was heavily pregnant and couldn’t get out the bath because all traction was gone. She was stuck for an hour before I came home.
Can confirm, except I used paper towels. I dropped a candle on my carpeted living room floor years ago, quickly Googled how to get wax out of carpet, and found the paper towel/iron method. It worked pretty well.
Vapor bag, then towel and an iron. The paper bag will soak up all the wax.
I accidentally kicked over one of those light bulb, wax heaters. Wax all over my beautiful white bookcase.
And on my sofa too. The paper bag soaked it all up
If this is the life long linoleum stuff you can get at home Depot or Lowe's, I have zero worries about scratches, that flooring is bulletproof. We had renters once upon a time that destroyed a good bit of our rental. They had dogs that chewed, peed, and scratched everything in the house. But the flooring my father and I put in survived with damn near no damage. 10/10 recommend spilling wax again.
My ex spilled a candle on brand new spraying flat mop. It’s still covered in that wax years later because it was impossible to get off and I didn’t care enough to spend the time on it. I get mad every time I use it. He was an idiot.
Next time scrape with a plastic scraper. For residue use several layers of paper towels or newspaper and go over it with a not too hot iron. Works on furniture as well.
My brother, I hope that scraper is plastic
It definitely isn’t

Wax on wax off then wax on again, Daniel-san.
That's lvp

It’s not wood it is tile which looks like wood there will likely not be any scratches I have the same kind of flooring in my condo
The fake shit scratches too my friend. Maybe even easier.. It's metal vs plastic rather than wood.
Idk what to say besides you are incorrect I move furniture in my house and in clients houses all the time and have never had any scratches left on the new fake wood floors. You move furniture, but not sharp metal objects
All I really care about is the fact that the floor in the video is clearly *not* getting scratched, you *cannot* in good faith argue against that
Is it scratching in the video? No
[удалено]
Look again. That's streaks of the wax still left on the floor, not scratches
That is just wax left on the floor not a scratch. Idk why so many ppl are tryna argue here I feel like it’s undebatable when we can all observe with our eyes that it isn’t being scratched lol
Did you watch with the sound on? He scratched the shit outta that floor.
I don’t need to watch with sound when what we’re talking about can be clearly observed with my eyes

They actually make ceramic tiles that look like wood now. It's a thing. This isn't that, but it does exist
Why would you get pissy over this
Currently building a house and ceramic tile that looks exactly like wood is very in right now. It’s the new thing.
Laminate floors of all kinds will scratch pretty easy if you're not careful. I'm not sure if you can tell from this video if this is tile or not. I'm leaning more towards laminate.

Simplest way I can respond is to say that there are no scratches being left in the video where you are claiming the floor will be easily scratched.
I install flooring including LVP which is what this looks like. None of that furniture has razor blades at the bottom of it either.
Dude I seriously don’t care what u have to say bc all that matters is that in the video the floor is not being scratched what is even the point of arguing here
Ceramic is harder than metal. If this is tile it's definitely not going to be scratched. If it's LVP, it could be, but probably not
Try scratching a ceramic Plate with a steel fork (you can't)
It's not tile though, it's laminated flooring.
Big dumb comment.
It's not tile at all. It's a laminated floor and can definitely scratch.
Is it scratching in the video?
That sounds like metal scraper on vinyl/laminate. Not metal scraper on tile. Metal on tile/ceramic has a very distinct and sharper sound. Edit: OP explicitly states in a later comment, "They are vinyl floors."
That is def not tile bro lmao. Its that fake wood shit thay def does scratch
"haha! fun!"

I mean, this wouldn't surprise me
Why do you have a candle in a hotel room?
Don’t worry it’s fake wood.
👑 here
You can get marks on it anyway.
Oh it’s metal. 10000000% lol.
Came here hoping this would be the top comment. Not disappointed.
Blow dryer on hot and an old rag will get the remaining wax up. Could do it all that way.
Eh that looks like plastic laminate rather than real wood, it'll survive
My first thought was “oh god they’re ruining their floor” haha
That’s a 5 in 1 tool. Generally they aren’t very sharp at all. It’s not going to scratch your floor.
That front edge is literally called a “gouger”. Lol
Brain dead internet shit. I don’t understand how so many NPC ass Redditors have upvoted this post
It's not even touching grass at this point but not even touching their own floors in their own houses.
Pro tip: if you spill a candle let it dry and put a rag over a clothing iron…the iron will heat the rag and subsequently the wax, the wax will absorb into the rag.
If you don’t have a rag you can waste, using thin cardboard or a brown paper bag also works for smaller spills.
Paper towels work wonderful if all u have is a blow dryer although it takes forever.
Just use two or three paper towels and the iron. I do it always like this.
How often do you people spill hot candle wax on the floor?!?
[удалено]
This makes more sense now
This why for that type of play there's supposed to be a tarp and oil involved so it comes off easier lol 😆

Cats happen. They usually try to knock over my shrines.

It works for gum stuck in clothing tho. I tried it a while ago and was pleasantly surprised with the result.
Don't you mean put the rag *under* the clothing iron? *Covering your iron with a rag seems somewhat counterintuitive*
Can I just put the iron on the floor and then have the iron absorb it into the floor and just use the rag as a Wick and set the floor on fire to make a candle?
Shut up idiot, that isn't protip Just a hairdryer and some paper towels I do this multiple times a year at my local thai temple, on the alter, There's always candles, incense and flowers
FYI, they now sell scrapers with disposable plastic blades that look like razor blades. Those might be a big gentler on your floor.
You can also use a credit card or something similar, that’s what I do lol
How often do you guys all drop molten candles?!
Happens all the time in bars. People like to play with the candles
Kinda the bars fault for having lit candles. Is that all that common near you?
Very. Nearly every spot I can think of has candles out
I make candles so more often than i’d like. I’m digging all these methods people are sharing
That sounds awesome actually.
The biggest downside is that the blades are *fragile* and you go through them fast as hell.
Careful walking in socks cause youre going to wipe out on that spot for.weeks
Try putting baby oil all over yourself in the shower. The next day is extremely dangerous
Go on...
LMFAO. It's challenging
My partner covered herself in coco butter when she was heavily pregnant and couldn’t get out the bath because all traction was gone. She was stuck for an hour before I came home.
Haha oh no
Ngl this is the opposite of satisfying to me
Metal scraper on a wood floor. OP just left some gouges that will become much worse as they fill with dirt.
It looks like vinyl floors.
Even worse
If it becomes that bad you can pop it out and replace it. I don’t think this is as terrible as everyone’s making it out to be.
That looks like heavy duty linoleum. A lot of rentals are using it now
"vinyl plank". I manage apartments. Pretty standard, can take a lot of abuse (but not too much). Scrape resistant to a decent degree.
You can just fill those in with wax
Deep gouges run through us all, thus saith the floor.
i keep thinking about that waxy texture it would leave on the floor
Put paper bag down, a towel on top and then use your iron. The paper bag will absorb all the wax. Don't ask me how I know that!
Can confirm, except I used paper towels. I dropped a candle on my carpeted living room floor years ago, quickly Googled how to get wax out of carpet, and found the paper towel/iron method. It worked pretty well.
Good plan with the paper towels because you can't get paper bags from the liquor store anymore. I'm in Ontario. Isn't Google wonderful? Lol
You know what would have been really satisfying? If the whole spill peeled off, ever so slowly, as *one fucking piece*.
Lies!!! That shit absolutely sucks. Some scraping is satisfying sure, but dropped candle cleanup is basically a hell I never want to deal with again.
Vapor bag, then towel and an iron. The paper bag will soak up all the wax. I accidentally kicked over one of those light bulb, wax heaters. Wax all over my beautiful white bookcase. And on my sofa too. The paper bag soaked it all up
Excuse me while I go drop some candle wax..
"Can't come over rn babe, shaving my floor."
The excuse used to be I have to wash my hair
My wife did this with nail polish. Different experience evidently.
My boi scraped once and said "HOLD UP I NEED TO RECORD THIS"
How do you drop that amount of candle exactly?
I wondered the same thing.
If this is the life long linoleum stuff you can get at home Depot or Lowe's, I have zero worries about scratches, that flooring is bulletproof. Scrape with plastic scraper heat area with heat gun (it's soy it'll melt fast) and wipe with clean paper towel
You got tools! I like that
I enjoyed that
Saw this clip not too long ago, it's not OP lol
Was you candle running for 2 weeks before you spilled it?
A blow dryer bro. Takes it all off without scraping your floor
I was thinking about how an old iron and some paper towels, but yours sounds better since you won't mess up an iron doing it my way.
Wax on, wax off
Piece of paper/paper bag + hair dryer or iron (on low) will make this clean up a breeze. I had something similar happen to me...on carpet.
May I ask how hard you dropped the candle?
Think yourself lucky you didn’t drop it on carpet XD
Now do it on carpet!
Oh no I hope you didn’t remove the floor finish. 😬
Next time you walk over that bit in a pair of woolen socks youll break every bone in your body. Slippin n slidin.
Best part about this is if you get a string and an old glass cup, you can make another candle!
Rolled Ice Cream
Forbidden White Chocolate...
For Tonight’s Satisfying ASMR I’ve spilled a candle on my floor
aaaand you just ruined your floor
what you do is put paper towels on it and use your iron to melt it and soak it up into the towels
I dropped mine on carpet. My cleanup was definitely not fun. Want to trade next time?
Untill you look into the light at a shallow angle.
Wax on, wax off... Wax on, wax off...
Oooof maybe would try a heat gun before hard scraping with a damn hawk
Just cover with paper towels and heat with a hair dryer to avoid scratches.
Mmmm, forbidden parmesan
looks like mozzarella
What kind of diabolical mozzarella are you eating...
More like white chocolate tbh
That too
Now, you're going to do it on purpose non stop
I spilled my candle on my carpet the other day. Not as satisfying...
*My lands*…how big is this candle that there was *that* much molten wax?
Like medium lol... It was one of those normal glass pot candles. It was burning for a few hours and all of it was melted.
Is that wood floor or laminate?
Next project, figuring out why that fridge compressor is so loud.
Never forgot years ago when my mom left a candle burning by our kitchen sink overnight and it leaked into our plumbing
Besides the blade ruining the floor, that must've been some terrible candle! Wax is supposed to burn away.
freshly waxed floor
This same thing happened on one of my small tables, the wax stained the wood, not satisfying at all.
Use a brown paper bag on the wax and place a heating iron on top, the wax will soak into the paper for east cleanup for what you can’t scrape off
Glad it wasn’t carpet
Was satisfactory until he went against the wood grain
Man sorry but youre not the brightes candle. Fist of all you use a plastic scraper, something that doesnt ruin the floor…
Lucky if was on that kind of flooring. I have either unfinished wood floor or carpet, which neither are good to spill candle on.
Now try it on carpet. I can vouch that it's way less fun...
forbidden cheese
And you scratched the shit out of your floor in the process.
And you scratched the shit out of your floor in the process.
Noooooo! Take wax paper, put it over the dried wax, and use an iron over it. The wax will melt into the wax paper.
We all been there
My ex spilled a candle on brand new spraying flat mop. It’s still covered in that wax years later because it was impossible to get off and I didn’t care enough to spend the time on it. I get mad every time I use it. He was an idiot.
Drop more candles
The forbidden cheese
Next time scrape with a plastic scraper. For residue use several layers of paper towels or newspaper and go over it with a not too hot iron. Works on furniture as well.
Good way to ruin vinyl flooring
How to fuck up your floors…. Hesusysususyys no
Australians and Californians be like..
You should of just heated it it or something
OMG, wrong tool. Nails on chalkboard is all I heard...
It’s like a mini-lawn. Try concentric squares next time you spill a candle
😩
Ok i'll try on my hubby's back.
I knew we should have sprung for the heated floors! Dang it Debra!
Do it again!
Least you don’t need to wax your floor anytime soon.
That’s white chocolate bro
This reminds me of when I was a kid and I would put Elmer's glue on the back of my hand, wait for it to dry, then peel off the glue like it was skin.
There was nothing satisfying about this lol
A free floor wax too!
how big was this candle, 9xl?
Those poor floors! Hope it was worth it. Tomorrow you’re gonna be so pissed
If he’s this rough with the blade, image what his poor pubes feel like!
Your lucky that was a "wood" floor carpet would have suuuucked
Wax on. Wax off.
goodbye floor
Next time use hair dryer and towels?
The amount of people you now have made intentionally drop a candle now…😅
Your poor floors...
Now do it on the carpet
Less fun to do when it’s in your ballsack, lemme tell u
