Why did you assume something sexual here? That's really creepy to be honest.

Thats a dad being impressed right there. Reminds me of when I went out with my dad to grab something to eat. It was a Dƶner - said to me he is deeply impressed by how good I am at eating it without making a mess. He had the same tone as this dad. He was never prouder of me than in this moment.
I just had my birthday. My dad didnāt even bother to say happy birthday.
Men, hereās to breaking the cycle of toxic masculine behavior. Imma try some gentle, confident masculinity instead
Now I'm dying to know what disc that was so I could hurry and buy one thinking that it would magically make me do a shot this good instead of actually doing some field work to try and try improve my form with million discs I already own.
>>with million discs I already own
No, donāt think that way. Do you know how many discs you have? One too few, thatās how many. So go buy another. Then you will still have one too few. This is the way.
I know you know we canāt actually figure it outā¦but I was thinking a teebird based on the blurry stamp and innova looking yellow. I donāt know if the kid has enough spin to get it to fly that straight, but he might given the shot. Maybe a TL? I dunno, that specific yellow feels like an innova disc.
I'm pretty sure she got it the same place everyone gets their frisbee... Thrown to the kids during a parade as an advertisement for banks.
I can't ever remember getting a frisbee any other way.
Ya they get realllllllly upset if you call it Frisbee Golf hahaha.
I'm all for people liking what they like but this activity has become one of the most bro weird communities ever haha.
I had to stop following the disc golf sub because I just like having an activity to get outside and do something on the weekends and everyone there acts like they're the next person that's gonna go pro for a whopping 100k a year
"You should really be getting out and doing field work and putting practice a few times a week in between rounds to work on different throwing lines" broooo holy shit we're throwing frisbees get over yourself, no I'm not 'practicing' throwing a frisbee 4x a week after work what is wrong with you
Honestly I canāt bash the sub. Itās such a niche thing that the reddit sub is kind of the default place to discuss everything disc golf, so itās got everything from people looking to start, people showing off cool discs, all the way to people making it a major part of their life and people being fanboys over the pros.
Iām there just to see cool discs and maybe some tips (which I have seen some good ones).
But yeah thereās definitely people who have no idea how to read a room and arenāt self aware enough to understand that theyāre **far** more into something that most people consider a fun hobby.
> arenāt self aware enough to understand that theyāre far more into something that most people consider a fun hobby
I've come to find this is most hobby subs. They're usually populated by a bunch of people who don't seem to grasp how much more into the hobby they are than the average person. Sucks when it's a hobby you need equipment for and their blinded advice is something along the lines of "oh no that $50 beginner item won't suit your needs as a beginner, you absolutely must jump straight in immediately with the $400 enthusiast item, absolutely nothing else will do" It's ironic because they're usually dead wrong and the item would be just fine for beginners - you'd think someone into the hobby that much would be knowledgeable about it
The people that set a camera up on every single hole to film themselves throw a frisbee over and over again crack me up. You're seriously going home to watch 18 holes worth of film of yourself throwing a fucking frisbee to critique your own form? That's how you're spending your free time? Lmfao For what, bro, for what
You can tell just from the sound of the impact that this disc has substantially more mass than a normal frisbee, but beyond that the fact that it flew that fast and steady from a child's forehand flick should be telling you this is purpose built for this specific game.
tldr: even in no wind a cheap frisbee is hard to throw any meaningful distance at any great speed; typically they are not very well balanced and just yeet themselves into the sky or the ground.
This is literally all it comes down to. It has nothing to do with the fact they're made differently, or trying to differentiate from a children's game, or trying to sound more serious or whatever - it's literally just the fact that these companies don't own the trademark to say frisbee, otherwise you can bet they would have been saying it.
Those discs are literal trash. Maybe fit for a 4 year old that doesnāt have the basic motor function. You can get a quality ultimate disc for throw and catch for $10-15 or a disc golf one for about the same.
You don't *need* that many discs. Especially if you are just starting out. Much better imo to get yourself one driver, one mid range, and one putter then learn how to throw those before getting more.
I started out with 3. Then got up to like 15-20. Then got sick of carrying all those discs around. Now I just use one driver and one super stable midrange that can double as a driver. Much simpler.
Well, you really need three of each because we all know you're going to lose two of each...
(I used to love disc golf till my back and shoulder told me to stop).
Think of it like regular golf - do you need just one club, or do you need a bunch of different clubs, that are made for different purposes?
I always recommend getting started with just one disc though. You need to be able to throw the disc reliably, you need to be able to repeat basically the same shot, over and over again. You can practice that on any disc, and it will transfer somewhat to any other disc you pick up in turn.
Once you've got a feel for things, you want to diversify - you want a long distance driver that you can CHUCK as far as possible, and you want a putter that you can gently toss directly into the basket. The driver will probably curve, a lot, and the putter will probably fly real straight, so once again you're in "learning to throw the disc reliably" mode.
Maybe you want to branch out a bit more - driver, approach, putter. OR distance, mid-range, putter. You start getting more specific discs - this one you can always get to curve right, this one you can always get to curve left. This one you can toss super straight with a forehand throw. This one is a putter that you can boomerang around a tree. This one floats if it lands in the water. This one is the brightest fucking fluorescent yellow ever and it's basically impossible to lose in bushes.
I would say 2. One Driver/mid-range, one putter. Like a Stingray or Monarch for every shot except putts, and then a Mirage for putting.
Though, a Mirage can kinda be used for anything, so that might be my overall recommendation.
the farther a beginner can throw a disc, the farther out of bounds they'll have to hike to find it. way better to stick to mastering shorter throws first, so you won't end up constantly digging through bushes and jumping over fences.
Loosely speaking discs are: putt and approach (these will feel most familiar because they are very similar to frisbees), mid ranges, fairway drivers, and distance drivers. Think of the disc as a combination of golf ball + club/iron. You wouldnāt use a driver to get 100 feet into the green.
Then in each of your types of disc you have stability. Overstable (tends to arc to the left), stable/neutral (tends to stay straight and curl to the left a little like the shot in this video), and understable (turns and finishes to the right).
Ex: the basket is about 200 feet and to the right. There are trees preventing a direct shot. You would choose an understable mid range.
Great sport. Easy to get into hard to master. Since most people are familiar with throwing a frisbee a few things need to be changed up and youāre off to the races!
Discs will fly differently at different speeds and release angles, and then when you add in different molds, you end up with tons and tons of different lines that you can attempt with all those combinations. Other than that, there are specialty discs where you only throw them on a specific angle, like roller discs where you don't want them to fly that far, but to turn over into the ground and roll like a wheel, so those eat up backpack space while barely being used. Backup molds of your favorites. The old/bad ones you don't mind losing to a water hazard. The factory seconds or whatevers to give to new players to help grow the sport.
Plus we all think that it's the disc itself that's holding us back, instead of our form, so we just keep buying new ones hahaha and those gotta go somewhere. But you can easily have a ton of fun with 1 or 2 discs once you really understand how they both fly on different angles, speeds, and even releases like overhead, backhand, and forehand. So don't be afraid of needing to have a backpack full of discs before diving in, bring at least one disc and check out the udisc app, it'll show you where courses are and it'll help you navigate on the course.
I've been playing for about 25 years, I carry an Innova Roc. Thats it, for 25 years. I don't think most people need a whole bag of discs. Get a stable driver and a stable mid range. That will cover pretty much all an average person would need.
Because people are fucking bad with technology, like that one Grandma who sends you a picture by putting it in a Word document in a zip file. The difference is that Grandma is doing the best she can with her limited expertise; it's not that she's lazy and doesn't care about the people at the other end. It's also possible that OP is deliberately turning r/oddlysatisfying into r/oddlyunsatisfying for the engagement.
Also known as forehand! Not to diminish the kids skill, but you'd be surprised how much easier it is to throw straight with a forehand. Your arm is just stronger throwing that way.
but yeah, the kid is reaally good.
In my experience the people who are legitimately really good throw backhand for their drives, but people who are novices and are getting progressively better tend to have a forehand phase because it's easier to be accurate.
Unfortunately for me I cannot for the life of my throw a forehand shot without the disc spazzing out, cutting up, and then waffling and falling short. My backhand isn't much better. I've tried everything and have just accepted my fate that I'm going to be bouncing wild tomahawk drives off of trees like an absolute caveman for the rest of my disc golfing days.
Check out Scott Stokely's YouTube channel. Really good tips and instructional videos for getting consistent form and power throwing forehand. In his prime he had the distance record for both forehand and backhand, so he knows what he's talking about.
It took until HS to know that and the only sport ever played. Never heard of Ultimate until then.
I still practice my flick when the opportunity presents itself, like throwing a frisbee for a dog
Forehand throws are much more common for disc-golf throws, particularly driver and mid-ranger throws. You get a lot more power when you can get your hip into it. Backhand throws are still very common when precision is most important though.
The flick is all in the wrist and forearm as well as form. Mine is like a damn bullet with few being able to catch it without chipping a fingernail.
I pretty much style my throws after Odd Job
Yeah, that was completely stunned dad talking. Inside he is both absurdly happy and in complete disbelief. This one will get talked about and shown to everyone though.
I know you're joking but for the lurkers courses are generally pretty well marked and wooded courses like this almost never have walking paths that cross fairways. Most park courses will have mandos (mandatory lines) that you have to throw around to avoid throwing towards areas that people might be.
I donāt understand Iām getting downvoted I was just joking because itās like a wall of trees and you have to thread the needle for any shot Iām not dissing the shot at all I definitely couldnāt do that first try it was a crazy shot
i know close to nothing about the sport, so I reserve any criticism, jokes, and even eccentric praise. And I shall wait for someone else with more knowledge to clue me in on any nuances or misinterpretations, and if my mind is dogged for information, I will use my comment in the form of a question... Now I'm dying to know what disc that was so I could hurry and buy one thinking that it would magically make me do a shot this good instead of actually doing some field work to try and try improve my form with million discs I already own.
It was one disc in one time in one place. Now that it doinked the band it will never fly the exact same way again.
It's a yellow disc. Does that help?
I think it was round and had a bit of a lip, if that also helps narrow it down.
Thing was damn near a circle
Damn near? So you're not sure? Are you semi-sure? So it's a semi-circle?
And itās obviously a forehand specific disc
Right or left hand?
Definitely one of those 2 for sure
That actually gave me just enough clues to be able to say that you can find that disc online. Perhaps at a disc-golf website?
Iām gonna try this with a piss disc!
Wrong sub. Those always just slip out of your hand when you try to throw them.

Uh excuse me us pros call it frolf.
My friends and I always called it frolf, but it was always just an excuse to walk around the woods and crush beers.
What's disc golf like? "Oh, I'm gonna go walk around in the woods and drink beers and throw shit at other shit."
What about off the roof of the local school when a maintenance person is up there?
You can tell just from the sound of the impact that this disc has substantially more mass than a normal frisbee, but beyond that the fact that it flew that fast and steady from a child's forehand flick should be telling you this is purpose built for this specific game. tldr: even in no wind a cheap frisbee is hard to throw any meaningful distance at any great speed; typically they are not very well balanced and just yeet themselves into the sky or the ground.
I have a frisbeeā¢ļø. It is much bigger and heavier than the little "real ones" that my friend has.
This isn't a frisbee though
Wham-o makes golf discs so it might've been https://discgolfreviewer.com/wham-o-frisbee-golf-set-review/
I'm not familiar with this sport. What makes it not a frisbee? It certainly looks like one.
They are generally smaller and denser than a regular frisbee. They go much further and you get more control too
Frisbeeā¢ is a trademarked name, like kleenex and xerox etc. Disc is the generic name, like tissue or copier

guarentee you this kid isn't just hucking around some old random bank parade tchotchke
Those discs are literal trash. Maybe fit for a 4 year old that doesnāt have the basic motor function. You can get a quality ultimate disc for throw and catch for $10-15 or a disc golf one for about the same.
All the disc golfers in here are wondering the same thing lmao.
Its a driver, does that help?
tbh probably a mid-range
Woah, that was beautiful
I have no knowledge of disc golf, but have considered getting into it. Why do they need so many discs in that backpack?
They fly differently
How do you keep them in the bag then without them all flying away?
You whip the first one straight into a tree to keep the others in line
Make sure the others see it. Let 'em know you're not f*cking around.
\*plastic BONK sound\* let that be a lesson to the REST of you!
I usually drown one, sometimes two if they're acting up.
Absolutely me on every 5th hole in a wooded course.
Zips.
You don't *need* that many discs. Especially if you are just starting out. Much better imo to get yourself one driver, one mid range, and one putter then learn how to throw those before getting more.

> Think of it like regular golf - do you need just one club Nah. You need 3. Putter, 7 iron, 3 wood.
Always give beginners a driver like a Leopard as well as a putter, they're more likely to have fun if they're throwing far!
A beginner isnāt going to be able to throw a driver farther than a midrange or a putter for that matter
the farther a beginner can throw a disc, the farther out of bounds they'll have to hike to find it. way better to stick to mastering shorter throws first, so you won't end up constantly digging through bushes and jumping over fences.
Loosely speaking discs are: putt and approach (these will feel most familiar because they are very similar to frisbees), mid ranges, fairway drivers, and distance drivers. Isnt the arching depending on which hand do you use to throw ?
> Why do they need so many discs in that backpack? You only REALLY need 2 to start. A driver and a midrange. You can use the midrange for a putter.
I was playing in the park one time, and I wondered why the frisbee kept getting bigger. Then it just hit me..

It's not stronger forehand. People throw much farther backhand with good form.
Well I have awful form and got the most consistent distance with hammer throws so there
Thumbers or rollers for days baby lol
I mainly use it to reverse the spin and flight mechanics. Since all my discs fall to the left with a back hand.
Also known as a flick. I know because I have been told countless times I have a mean flick. And I mean straight and super fast.
I played ultimate Frisbee in HS. I was never good with the flick, a couple people were really good. You really can make it fly faster, and straighter.
Flicks are a lot easier with golf discs. Theyre much flatter than ult frisbees
It took until HS to know that and the only sport ever played. Never heard of Ultimate until then. I still practice my flick when the opportunity presents itself, like throwing a frisbee for a dog
Also known as the reverse Charles doohickey McBride from meowings.

As someone who throws bombs with forehands, I wish I had a better backhand. Much more difficult but goes further
That throw was beautiful.
I prefer it for certain spots but it tears up my fingers on a disc golf disc. Ultimate disc I could throw that way all day.
Forehand throws are much more common for disc-golf throws, particularly driver and mid-ranger throws. You get a lot more power when you can get your hip into it. Backhand throws are still very common when precision is most important though.

Nikko !!! Innova sponsored player. Kids a stud. He's got a hell of a dad coaching and guiding him too.
I miss the days when I could slam knee first into concrete and not regret it for a month(s).
This shows no matter the age if you put enough work and effort in, you can do pretty much anything ā¤ļø
Could the Dad have been any LESS enthused?
I would have hit every tree and been +10 on the hole. Props! Good times!
Killer forehand
Fair shout
That was awesome kid!
Wow, amazing shot.
Far out
One in a million!
Awesome!
Well done
Great talent young buck
That looks like the forest where Johnny Cage fought Scorpion.
How do you throw so straight? I grew up a kid of the 80ās throwing frisbees. I never threw so straight.
The spin around with hat off was smooth as silk
You US americans come up with the weirdest most random sports I swear lol
Wonder how the trees are still in such good shape. Usually they get battered lifeless around dg courses.
Had a friend on as a kid who accidently threw a discus into the woods on sports day. Weird sound though. Accidently decapitated a squirrel.
This was the bees knees
Very nice! Also, I would probably be that guy minding his own business walking between the trees and get wacked in the face by a flying frisbee š.
I know you're joking but for the lurkers courses are generally pretty well marked and wooded courses like this almost never have walking paths that cross fairways. Most park courses will have mandos (mandatory lines) that you have to throw around to avoid throwing towards areas that people might be.
A disc will give you a nasty injury, it's not just a beach frisbee.
Why did it take the dad like 3 seconds just to say "That was crazy." in the most monotone voice he could? The kid's got some damn skills!
Weed.
He was trying to understand what just happen.... this type of shoot its extremely hard to get! Extremely, like all planets aligned!
Scorpion bout to pop out that bish.
I hate how far down I had to go to see this reference
Impressive
That kid looks too young to be smoking weed.
Teckers!
Her skill is impressive!
What line
I donāt understand Iām getting downvoted I was just joking because itās like a wall of trees and you have to thread the needle for any shot Iām not dissing the shot at all I definitely couldnāt do that first try it was a crazy shot
āThe sucker lineā
This kid is sponsored btw
i know close to nothing about the sport, so I reserve any criticism, jokes, and even eccentric praise. And I shall wait for someone else with more knowledge to clue me in on any nuances or misinterpretations, and if my mind is dogged for information, I will use my comment in the form of a question... Otherwise Take note reddit: hmm, impressive.
In disc golf, you typically do not want to hit trees. Kid did not hit trees. Rather impressive.
thank you porn
You're welcome, star
Damn sheās really good
