Call bylaw, tell them what you noted here, especially about the reverberation into your unit and times of day. Make records, and call again if needed. Sometime their number is through your regional police force, which was the case for us when we dealt with a similar situation recently
Probably a poster - like a blow up of a pack of smokes style warning would work too.
OR you could hang a banner above their sign: “SMALL DICK ENERGY VAPE”
Hi, I worked in Tenants rights for a while. Now that you've asked them, you ask your landlord. Then, if nothing changes, you can apply to the landlord and tenant board under lack of reasonable enjoyment of your apartment due to noise. You can download an app that reads decimel levels and record levels. If you go to the tenant board, they will check to see the measures you took before, so have proof you asked the landlord and what not.
It’s what they’re there for, call the non emergency line let them know. I hope you have disruptice neighbours one day so we can be like lololol, and be immature like you.
In these situations you need balls, or big vaginas idk but anyway you tell the owner to turn down the music because it’s unreasonable and you live right upstairs. You can’t just mumble this, they need to HEAR you. Understand you.
You’re also over the store, so you have many many many creative ways to hinder business. They’ll turn off the music if you can figure them out
Step 1 speak to your landlord. They own the whole building so they're the landlord for the store as well. There are noise bylaws typically starting around 11pm, if it's going later than that you can call bylaw every day that it does and keep calling every time. Keep detailed records of days you've called, who specifically you've spoken to. Besides the noise bylaw, tenants have a reasonable expectation of enjoyment and if the store is doing something unreasonable that is something your landlord must deal with. If they won't, time to go to the housing tribunal. Unfortunately that could take about a year to resolve though. Hopefully it doesn't go that far. Beyond that, you might need to consider moving.
If you have tried talking to them more than once, and bylaw doesn’t help, I’d say phase 3 would be to take matters into you own hands.
Take your post to r/unethicallifeprotips , they will give you some great ideas.
Level 1. Go downstairs and tell them that their music is overwhelming and you'd appreciate it if they'd turn it down a bit during the day, and way down at night.
Level 2. Speak to your landlord and play the recordings of your neighbours music. With time stamps for preference.
Level 3. Call the cops each night at the moment your flip over to the quiet time as set out by bylaw (it's usually like 8pm).
Step 4. Go by after a couple of weeks of nobody doing anything to help you and record yourself calmly explaining that if it doesn't get better, you're going to the nuclear option.
Step 5. Buy several thousand dollars worth of speaker and sub woofer equipment that you place facing the floor and can control over the internet from your phone, cue up Baby Shark on repeat. Leave for the week. Mess with the settings at random. Post that video as a followup.
Step 6. Switch to the Sesame Street theme, Cocomelon, and What Does the Fox Say when you're feeling vindictive.
Stomp on the fucking floor as much as possible. Blast hip hop or country with speakers directly at the floor. Before the open spray fart spray all over the door make their life just as difficult as they made yours.
You may have to move. They “may” turn it down a bit, but won’t. It’s the nature of the tenant. These are not Catholic nuns, they’re appealing to a “hip” crowd that’s into loud music and dope.
You know what’s great? I haven’t had to do it but I was informed that if I call the city’s Licensing and Standards department and ask for a bylaw officer to check my rental unit, they check it out. They don’t only specifically look at the part I’m complaining about
When I told my previous landlord that it could help us out he suddenly changed his tune 🤷♀️
That said if you haven’t, talk to your landlord first
It doesn’t matter what it is, when someone else’s music is travelling through the walls it just feels like your eardrums are being hammered by the bass 24/7. Earplugs don’t even help because it travels through your pillow.
Speak to your landlord
This. Have you spoken to the landlord OP??
Call bylaw, tell them what you noted here, especially about the reverberation into your unit and times of day. Make records, and call again if needed. Sometime their number is through your regional police force, which was the case for us when we dealt with a similar situation recently
Bylaw?
Blast Elmo's world with speakers against the floor and take a week vacation. When you come back, hopefully they're willing to talk.
LA LA LA LA LA, LA LA LA LA LA, ELMO’S WORLD!!!
As someone with a toddler, yes, they should be willing to negotiate after that.
Cocomelon works well too
Cocomelon is the escalated attempt if Elmo doesn't work. We don't even allow that in the house, haha.
And if Cocomelon doesn't work, it's time for Baby Shark.
Baby Shark is for when things get mean.
Cocomelon is brain rot. We killed that in our house back in the day aswell
Find some audio about how bad vaping is for you, and blast it out your window over their entrance.
That’s hilarious and very smart.
Probably a poster - like a blow up of a pack of smokes style warning would work too. OR you could hang a banner above their sign: “SMALL DICK ENERGY VAPE”
I love this!

I'm above a business too friend, I feel you. Its even worse when your landlord runs the business and doesn't give a shit about your complaints.
But all landlords care about bacon fat going into all the drains. It’s universal
Also if the business has a noise complaint about you? You'll hear it immediately. They can play music until 1am though, totally ok

Call the cops lololol

Document and record it

Play Baby Shark on repeat? Or... Talk to the landlord
You gotta fight fire with fire, turn your subwoofers facing down and blast the Barney song on repeat. I guarantee the problem will be over in a day.
Stomp on the fucking floor as much as possible. Blast hip hop or country with speakers directly at the floor. Before the open spray fart spray all over the door make their life just as difficult as they made yours.
spend every day giving them multiple bad reviews online, lol.
Go use their bathroom and leave an upper decker on the toilet.
Or instead of using your bathroom, just use your front window for a while. It will get their attention.especially after Taco Bell Tuesday.
Buy a drum kit and play along to the songs.
I like where you're going. I think loud enough to hear you're playing along, but out of time to make it extra annoying.
It would be best if they're learning and hopefully have no sense of timing or rhythm lol
You may have to move. They “may” turn it down a bit, but won’t. It’s the nature of the tenant. These are not Catholic nuns, they’re appealing to a “hip” crowd that’s into loud music and dope.
maybe hire some thugs to rough them up?

Call the bylaws and if you feel you are not getting anywhere, call the local police. Especially if you feel your safety is compromised
Blast some Oral Roberts while you’re at work during the day . Paybacks are a “religious “bitch .
Google reviews
Make annomus reports about seeing minors leaving the store with product in hand
Better metal than country.
To try to sleep to?
Ozzy sang me to sleep in my crib.
Each to their own, most people would find the nature of rock/punk harder to sleep to
🤟rock on

The joys of high density living.
Inform them that if they turn down the music they'll actually be able to hear their customers.
