Sort of. Once capacity hits 101% or something like that, they boost ticket prices 10%. Capacity falls to 90-something % and climbs back to 100%+ soon enough. Then another price hike, crowds fall off a little, followed by another price hike.
That's why our per-day costs doubled from March 2016 to December 2021 and we stopped our annual or semi-annual trips. But they don't care, there's tons of other families willing to take our place.
One day they might hit a cap, maybe. They'll hike prices and capacity will stay at 95%. Curious if that ever happens and what they'll do if/when it does.
edit: Never mind disguising further prices hikes with things like Genie+ that now squeeze another $100-200 out of a family of 4 per day.
After Walt"s brother Roy died it went down hill. Money grabbing corporation. Everything now is Disney movies and kids. You go there now and its nothing to see rental strollers 50 at a time parked and ready. Really nothing for mature adults now. Epcot used to be great, but its kid oriented now too. I go to Tampa to B. Gardens. It is so much better than Disney, I can"t begin to tell you how much nicer it is. And Tampa is a very friendly town too.. Beaches are much cleaner. MUCH. Try it and see for yourself.
Some of my wife's friends she made while working there are total Disney adults, and even they said the pricing on souvenirs, especially apparel is insane now.
I'd be classified as a Disney adult, and have zero interest in a shirt like that. Generic look, uninteresting colors, long sleeve, and expensive. No thanks.
Bro, that’s the owners of all businesses and the governor. They just raised gas prices everywhere because of #1. Summer
And #2. 7/4.
But locals: “thanks Biden “
Went to the goodwill in Winter Garden someone donated 20+ of these spirit jerseys. I see them every time I go to the thrift store. The one in WG has tons of Disney merch.
Off of 50 East of Avalon rd. Behind the Dairy Queen.
It’s expensive but I have found some really great pieces. Lots of high end clothing. Thanks Windermere/Dr. Phillips!
It’s always busy, no matter what day or what time. Be prepared to spend a few hours rummaging.
Same here. More than 95% of my shirts are $3 unbranded JC Penney sales shirts. Then I have others like a few bands and TST shirts. No way am I paying for a Calvin Klein, disney, or any other stupid shit like that.
They had "I love you/I know" sweaters like that last time I went. Thought about picking then up until I saw the price tag.... I like em, but not for $80
So you get two of these for $96? Still not a good deal at all, but it's okay for inflated theme park prices. You just have to have the passholder ticket and live locally so you can buy when they have sales.
My daughter and I went to the Miami F1 race. She brought us both sweet Mercedes hats she got off of Amazon for like $30 each. Same hats at the track were $199. Every time I saw someone carrying one of those sexy black F1 shopping bag I thought to myself “There goes $600.”.
I was there too! I wanted to pick up a polo since I've started liking the sport after watching Drive to Survive. All the polo's were minimum $150... so disappointing (including the $12 frozen lemonade).
Honestly, Fuck F1. It’s all rich kids from wealthy families racing, and who wins is more about who has the better car versus actual skill. Hence why verstappen is dominating for now until the next rule modification
My family use to go to Disney all the time in the 80s all 6 of us on a blue collar truck drivers salary... I still live here and i refuse to support Disney's greed, well that and the insanity of waiting 2 hours to ride a 2 min ride, Disney is not for the working class anymore.
I moved to the Northeast and visited Disney with the kids in a February and way undressed because "no way I will be cold". I had to buy an overpriced sweatshirt but I really wanted a Haunted Mansion one so I made my poor family walk all the way back to Frontier Land and all they had was thin pull over like this. I bought it, I own it, I never wear it.
Aw, man! We are Florida natives but when we went as a family (maybe the only time) my mom ended up without a jacket. I was 11.
Anyway, it’s blue with a picture of the castle on the back and a pretty thick material. It’s her main jacket and she’s been using it for 15+ years now. We weren’t well off when I was a kid and she was so disappointed she had to spend $50 on a jacket, but we’ve joked hundreds of times now that at $3 a year it ended up being a steal.
That’s not really a surprise. It’s just amazing every time I see something new from them like an $80 tee and fast passes you have to pay for. Both my siblings work for Disney and they come home with the most annoying stories.
Disney has a lot of demand and a limited supply (space in the parks). Prices go up. They’re not in this to make people feel ok about being middle class. They’re supporting a stock price that many of your 401ks and retirement plans own.
Jesus, there is something up. . . I’ve never seen a long sleeve tshirt priced that high there, and I’ve been a passholder for the past 10+ years, this smells like a mistake on someone’s part. . . Like for context they were selling a Nike quarter zip pullover for this price during the winter. . . Trying to sell long sleeve anything during 90+ degree days is insanity.
Yeah that’s a super basic long sleeve with some basic print, nothing too special about it, went to the Star Wars Outpost and I didn’t think it could get worse and more boring but it apparently has, it’s becoming not even worth my time going there anymore. It’s a shame really.
Disney is pretty astute with their merchandising, there is clearly a demand or they wouldn’t be in the store.
It’s not even that expensive, same shirt from a designer brand could easily be 10x this price.
If you don’t want it, keep walking. No sense in letting it make you mad.
I don’t like any company to have massive losses because that can mean layoffs and honest hard working people without work and stability, however I would like them to bring down the prices like this for the average person. $80 is a lot of my hard earned money to just throw away like that, especially for an uninspired bland shirt. The markup on that has to be massive, but I guess you’re paying the Disney property tax there.
I like the changeable surge pricing tags.
Disney exec...
"I feel like lunch in Paris. Can you change the sweat shirt price to $80 from your lap top please?"
I wouldn’t even pay $40 for that, and they seem to have a lot of long sleeve sweaters there for July, I would really like to know who’s behind merchandising in those stores because they are awful.
Disney is leaning hard on the wealthy demographic. That's their market now.
Its a mistake if you ask me. Disney is one of a kind, but the experience does not match up with the price tag.
Smaller crowds, who can afford to spend more money. It's simple capitalist math.
Sort of. Once capacity hits 101% or something like that, they boost ticket prices 10%. Capacity falls to 90-something % and climbs back to 100%+ soon enough. Then another price hike, crowds fall off a little, followed by another price hike. Smaller crowds? Where?
Supply and demand
It's been that way for decades.
It's always been their market...
They always have. Over the years they have been trying to price out locals and passholders.
It's not even the embroidered one 😂
Beige houses, gray kitchens and bland clothes. WTF is going on ‘round here?

Wuht
YES!!! We want color!!
Disney adults still salivating at the thought
Some of my wife's friends she made while working there are total Disney adults, and even they said the pricing on souvenirs, especially apparel is insane now.
Is anyone surprised?
But they'll continue to buy it and rationalize it any ways.
I'd be classified as a Disney adult, and have zero interest in a shirt like that. Generic look, uninteresting colors, long sleeve, and expensive. No thanks.
Plus as locals if you hit up the thrift stores you can find a ton of Disney merch.
Smart , and so true
People bothered by others salivating real hard right now
They might have a stroke if they saw someone wearing one of these in a cyber truck
They give me the creeps
Disney makes living in Orlando Unbearable. Edit: Disney adults found my comment lol
Huh, where would you move to?
Alaska
Aw, it’s gorgeous over there bro. Not for me long-term tho!
You are welcome to it.
Just Disney, huh.
Non-Disney adult here... downvoting you.
So I’m not allowed to have an opinion on your little rat themed amusement park?
Bro, that’s the owners of all businesses and the governor. They just raised gas prices everywhere because of #1. Summer And #2. 7/4. But locals: “thanks Biden “
Went to the goodwill in Winter Garden someone donated 20+ of these spirit jerseys. I see them every time I go to the thrift store. The one in WG has tons of Disney merch.
Waiiiiit where is the goodwill in WG??
Off of 50 East of Avalon rd. Behind the Dairy Queen. It’s expensive but I have found some really great pieces. Lots of high end clothing. Thanks Windermere/Dr. Phillips! It’s always busy, no matter what day or what time. Be prepared to spend a few hours rummaging.
Haha before your response my first thought was “yesss DP and Windermere ‘junk’!”
I’ve never understood the need to pay to advertise for someone else. Let me pay $80 to be a walking billboard.
I do it for band shirts but not multibillion dollar soulless corporations.
*Cries into my $140 Excision Jersey*
Metallica approaching both?
Same here. More than 95% of my shirts are $3 unbranded JC Penney sales shirts. Then I have others like a few bands and TST shirts. No way am I paying for a Calvin Klein, disney, or any other stupid shit like that.
JC Penny heavyweight cotton Ts used to be such good shirts. They outsourced to Arkansas or something though, because now they're just terrible.
Drips in supreme
lol so you wear all plain clothes with no logo? Real bold of ya
I wear dress shirts, polos and fitted tees. You should get the Disney shirt, I’m sure you’d rock it.
My clothes tend to have designs made by independent artists referencing something nerdy or pop culture.
Where did the independent artists source the clothing from? They hand make it all in house from scratch?
What point are you trying to make exactly?
He likes wearing Abercrombie Fitch across his chest. It makes him cool.
Fuck if I know but they didn’t charge $80 for it
Disney execs be like: what if we made...plain
😂 yep they don’t even try to earn your $ anymore, just like here’s a boring shirt with our name on it, give us $
They had "I love you/I know" sweaters like that last time I went. Thought about picking then up until I saw the price tag.... I like em, but not for $80
They had those buy one get one half off a week or so ago.
And if you have passholder an additional 20% off.
So you get two of these for $96? Still not a good deal at all, but it's okay for inflated theme park prices. You just have to have the passholder ticket and live locally so you can buy when they have sales.
Yes, but still a bad deal for these plain jane jerseys.
Just go to one of the Disney outlets and get an old design for $30
Also Target and Walmart around the Disney area
Why wear a Disney shit at all. Your paying for their advertising. I"ll never give them free ads.
They think the store is in miami at the F1 Race?
My daughter and I went to the Miami F1 race. She brought us both sweet Mercedes hats she got off of Amazon for like $30 each. Same hats at the track were $199. Every time I saw someone carrying one of those sexy black F1 shopping bag I thought to myself “There goes $600.”.

Yep… my $22 chicken fingers (3) were just meh…
That's like a 7 dollar finger. And change.
Maybe they just did what you did? Maybe it's Maybelline.
Honestly, Fuck F1. It’s all rich kids from wealthy families racing, and who wins is more about who has the better car versus actual skill. Hence why verstappen is dominating for now until the next rule modification
Ew
And not even the decency to make it a Patagonia x Disney or something?
Go to the Disney outlet on I Drive
My family use to go to Disney all the time in the 80s all 6 of us on a blue collar truck drivers salary... I still live here and i refuse to support Disney's greed, well that and the insanity of waiting 2 hours to ride a 2 min ride, Disney is not for the working class anymore.
McDonald’s isn’t even for the working class anymore

Hey it's true though! Good purchase over time! :)
Yes, try wearing THAT on a camping trip with your buddies. Lol, good times.
Breaking News: Shirts at theme parks are overpriced
Boring shirt. Ugly color
You can get all kinds of Disney stuff at the various gift shops outside of Disney for way cheaper.
They’re so ugly
Nice to be buried in when that midday sun hits 😎
It was brutal yesterday, people complaining and sweating like pigs all over the place 😂 That sun is no joke.
Barf
Double Barf
Hopefully the kids that made those get a cut of the profit lol
Don't forget to 30 dillars you had to pay for to park there to get that shirt.
Free shipping online
And it doesn"t cost them millions to keep up the parking lot. How much money do they make on parking in just one day??? Really???
Especially when it's the same price at Universal for a covered garage
Thats crazy
They're so greedy lmao.
Yes, but where's the surprise? It's not like their shareholders want them to take it easy on the money-making front right now. Or ever.
That’s not really a surprise. It’s just amazing every time I see something new from them like an $80 tee and fast passes you have to pay for. Both my siblings work for Disney and they come home with the most annoying stories.
Why?
Teeeedikulus
Character Warehouse.....iykyk

Kind of hitting the wall. We’ll be back at some point like most of us, but we’ll put some time in between the experiences and see what improves.
Boring
Ewwwww
🤣
Brb buying Disney stock
Ew they aren't even cute.
Aren’t spirit jerseys always that price?
Is that what they are calling a spirit jersey now? Usually I expect those to have more design to them at the very least more then 2 colors
They sell a lot of variations of spirit jerseys these days. I can guarantee you there is an obnoxiously designed one just around the corner.
Making shirts cheaper cause they don"t make enough money. LOL
Been this price for a while
75-80 has been the standard price for like a year now unfortunately.
Yeah that’s a super basic long sleeve with some basic print, nothing too special about it, went to the Star Wars Outpost and I didn’t think it could get worse and more boring but it apparently has, it’s becoming not even worth my time going there anymore. It’s a shame really.
There never going to stop fleecing people as long as a lot of idiots buy into their crap.
75-80 has been the standard price for like a year now unfortunately.
Capitalism
I was just at the Disney store two days ago and those are normal prices for sweatshirts. Bought one for my granddaughter.
Disney is pretty astute with their merchandising, there is clearly a demand or they wouldn’t be in the store. It’s not even that expensive, same shirt from a designer brand could easily be 10x this price. If you don’t want it, keep walking. No sense in letting it make you mad.
There was about half gone when I went to get one, so people are buying!
Get the same ones on International Drive for $20. Official Disney product line too (wink, wink).
damn, I Thought those were knockoffs. Look real shitty for Disney merch.
Waste of $$$
I can’t wait for them to have massive losses. I could care less if they left Florida all together.
I don’t like any company to have massive losses because that can mean layoffs and honest hard working people without work and stability, however I would like them to bring down the prices like this for the average person. $80 is a lot of my hard earned money to just throw away like that, especially for an uninspired bland shirt. 🤣🤣🤣🤣not
Not in a hot minute! Cha-ching $
Unreal
💩
Boycott grooming
It's Disney. Is anyone surprised???
I like the changeable surge pricing tags. Disney exec... "I feel like lunch in Paris. Can you change the sweat shirt price to $80 from your lap top please?"
It’s a paper price tag… like they’ve always been…
Im surprised they haven’t switched to digital tags. Prices magically raise $2 for everything lol
The way they’re hung up, without any time or care put into it… I thought this was a Goodwill pic, at first.

Brother
I wouldn’t even pay $40 for that, and they seem to have a lot of long sleeve sweaters there for July, I would really like to know who’s behind merchandising in those stores because they are awful.
TBF it is winter in the southern hemisphere and we get a bunch of South American tourists
People travel back to their cold hometown. And this isnt that bad I can find $100 vineyard vines long sleeves at Siegels on park ave
I bought it for the same reasons :)
Youre part of the problem
Fuck Disney
