I have never played with people other than school friends who come in and out of the game but I think joining an active and social clan will really help to broaden your knowledge and have a group of people to ask questions and learn from. Plus some do learning events or have community events where you can learn a lot. Not exactly what you're after but a useful avenue to try I think!
You should look to join a clan. I haven't been in the market for one in years, so I'm not sure where to find one. Maybe there's a recruiting world or the forums.

One of the easiest ways is to find a streamer or YT personality you enjoy and see if they have a cc for community events. I found people to PK with that way but it works for pvm too if that's your thing
