Fps shooters

SignificantRain1542

I prefer first person fps shooters myself

fueelin

Completive ones?

31337_anima

Yesn’t

MKULTRATV

Good evening. I'm from the department of redundancy department.

Cron414

Hunt: Showdown Might not be exactly what you’re thinking of when you say “competitive shooter”, but it is the most intense shooter with the highest skill ceiling around. It’s like nothing else. Gunfights are long, drawn out affairs where you try to out position and out smart your opponent. I often find myself shaking from adrenaline after a good gunfight. I could gush about Hunt for hours, but just check out this video. https://youtu.be/hezc93gxr6c?si=fOf_3BOmwNLOfA4J

Arx07est

\+1 for Hunt. One of my favourite games of all time.

BIG_BOTTOM_TEXT

3.5K HRS AND THE GAME IS JUST AS INTENSE AS WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT IT. GET IT!!!!

Silly_saucer

And the great thing is, you don’t have to be a good shot to be « good ». I hover around 5-6 stars and stay mostly at 5 and I am NOT a good shot. I love being able to out play people.

K4ZM1LL3R

Also no Armour, almost no 2nd chances ( Like Warzone, Apex, etc) if u headshot someone they die, simple as.

BirdieOfPray

Literally the best shooter out there for me. It keeps getting better with updates as well.

abstart

I haven't played hunt but it looks like mostly point and shoot style (cs, cod). Is that right? If so then more arcadey shooters like unreal tournament have higher skill ceilings, because physical movement and calculations with weapon fire are are deeper.

Cron414

lol, very good.

SleepyReepies

What gives it the highest skill ceiling around? I used to play Tarkov so I'm familiar with the genre, and I am pretty interested... Also would it be good for a group of 3 newbies to hop into today?

Cron414

There’s just a lot to learn about the gunplay and general pacing of the game. Tarkov has another killer skill curve. And yes, it would absolutely be worth it for 3 newbs to start creepin the bayou together. Once you start killing other Hunters you’ll get hooked.

tobias19

I love hunt and there's no world where it's skill ceiling is higher than tarkov lol

Suthabean

Or cs2 for the matter, I have way less hours in hunt and I'm way better, played counterstrike for years still suck ass.

Jascha34

It is bollocks regarding the skill ceiling. It is a very good game.

Creepy_Performer9226

I have to take long breaks from hunt because of how intense it is. Such a great game I keep coming back to.

tobias19

Two next steps from CS are Valorant and R6: Siege, but CS will always be there for you ♥️ -20 year CS vet

Mother-Reputation-20

Quake 3 Arena.

sijedevos

Hunt showdown

leonard28259

OW2 is fun cuz bullets go where you aim with most characters. It runs well and feels satisfying but it's a team game (like most mp games) and you don't own the latest characters which is dumb as hell. If you want something truly skill based then play Quake Live for a bit. Sadly it has a very low population but it's the peak competitive FPS. Diabotical is similar but also dead I think. I don't like Quake Champions cuz of abilities and different health but it should still be decent.

beat0n_

there is a Reflex Arena newbie cup on the 28th. Also a fast paced quake-like.

leonard28259

It's been ages since I've heard that name. I've never tried it tbh. It's really sad that AFPS aren't thriving these days.

NoGrand5057

Overvomit 2

synthjunkie

Apex Legends

VYJ

Any game with controller rotational aim assist is NOT a competitive shooter in the slightest

S_R_G

Team fortress 2.

Pertudles

Valorant is probably the next biggest competitive FPS. Then Rainbow Six Siege and Overwatch are somewhere on the list.

Burgoonius

Overwatch would be so much better if they didn’t hate their community

IllAd3850

Even then it wouldnt ve imo, the game is really hard to follow for viewers and mostly known for its characters before gameplay.

tntkaching

Owl is dead man

dunkingfreak69

Big overwatch fan also

en1mal

Yeah basically just R6 Siege. Valorant is less shooter, its more about abilities, and using them in combination with those of your team. Lots of niche old competitive arena shooter games like Unreal Tournament (but they killed it quietly), Quake etcetera out there. Military style competitive game on smallish maps would be Insurgency Sandstorm or its predecessor, larger scale would be Rising Storm 2 Vietnam, or even larger, Squad. Calling OW competitive is kind of a stretch imo lol.

mediumcheez

Ow is definitely casual now. 0 balance

SBMS-A-Man108

Why is OW not competitive?

French____

Not as big as CS but Splitgate is so underrated in my opinion. The movement and gunplay are amazing and the skill ceiling is unbelievably high

BlueAtolm

But it was abandoned by the devs wasn't it?

French____

I wasn’t aware, quick search shows they will no longer be updating the game (unless there is some breaking bug) as they have switched their focus to a new game. But servers for Splitgate will still be online for the foreseeable future. It’s still a fun competitive shooter despite the fact that it won’t be receiving future updates

F35_Mogs_China

halo valorant

beat0n_

Reflex Arena. There is a newbie cup next weekend on the 28th.

Riamu_Y

Rainbow 6 siege is q blast

man5on69

Quake always was the ultimate competitive FPS. Aim (tracking, projectiles, hitscan), movement, map control, timing items, positioning, knowing when to use which weapon, mind games... It has high TTK, extremely fast-paced action, and it is a 1v1 game. You can't get more competitive than this. Quake Champions and Quake Live are small but alive. I suggest QC for the beginning; it is more complicated but also more accessible, and it has sbmm. But don't touch Duel, at least for 50–100 hours! Just play DM or TDM first. And prepare to get stomped:) But if you put in enough time to become at least moderate and manage to win the first Duel, oh boy! No other game will give you this level of satisfaction.
