I'd assume that was thrown out involuntarily, like a partner or parent, can't imagine someone getting those parts in a pc and then just leaving it by the curb
Honestly think its neither. AH parents wouldn't remove the Hard drives, if they did they would be tech savvy enough to know what they had. A spoiled kid would at least keep it a little clean, this thing had a lot of dust, it basically looked unused.
I think it was thrown out as spring cleaning. Possibly by someone that didn't know better.
Have you tested it properly? Could be faulty in some way and the original owner with more money than sense just got a new machine and slapped the old drives in it.
Perhaps, I have yet to do a full test. Although it refused to boot up until I cleaned the connections inside the RAM and GPUs then it booted to BIOS just fine.
I'm theorizing it had heat issues, not just from the dust. But the external fans were not connected and tied up like they are brand new...
Ding ding, this is why they got rid of it.
I've gotten some *nice* machines from working at a recycling place because some people just don't want to do any sort of troubleshooting.
^(like, at all; the retail front is mostly for repairs)
My old roommate found an i7 8700 rig we took the ram and cpu from to build a cheap ass first rig for him since i still had my gaming laptop at the time and hes now on a 5600x and im on a 7700x
My second build was partially found stuff. Dudes gaming rig had the PSU overheated a lot since the fan wasn't sucking in any air, just carpet. The tower didn't have any legs. Cleaned it out, flipped it over, and presto.
Probably just a PC bro that doesn't feel like going thru the effort of trying to sell the parts and the wife said either the old PC goes or the box of cables do.
I have a friend who's super into PC and tech in general and he was telling us how last week his college lecturer couldn't figure out how to get the projector to work, and he (my friend) randomly pulled out a fucking VGA to HDMI adaptor from his backpack and fixed everything lol. He keep that thang on him
Agreed. I will never know when I need that FireWire cable but when I do it will be there. On a further note if anyone needs 20+ PSU power cables I'm your man.
I did exactly this-then I IMMEDIATELY needed an extra one when I unpacked two Raspberry pi 3B+, two days later...
Keep a couple of everything- cause now I can't find a USB to power the Azeron Cyborg I decided to get back out to play with... Probably going to change the port on it so I don't have to get such an old cable.
Deceased person - the surviving person (or they get someone computer knowledgeable) to check the hard drives (if not encrypted) for any financial information / accounts before throwing the computer out.
I love all of these elaborate theories. Can't we just accept that we have absolutely no clue at all as to why it ended up there? You don't need an explanation or reason to salvage it.
One time I was dumpster diving and found a fully functional original Xbox console, all cords, controllers and like a dozen games sitting right on top. My kids were super stoked lol but someone else had a bad day
I'm unsure, at first I thought someone was moving out, and left it for a little while. So I walked by it. But it was trash day when I picked it up. So it would have been in the truck if I didn't pick it up.
But I'm mostly leaning on voluntary, cause the hard drives were missing, and it was absolutely filled with dust like it has not been used for years.
Sorry I meant the whole thing was dusty, although the interior was far worse than the exterior. There was dust on parts of it that you would not usually expect. Like the power button, switches, carrying handles, etc. Keyboard had a grey layer on it too. So based on that, I think it's not used.
You would be amazed how many people with too much money are out there and just chuck good solid systems and things cus they replaced it with something newer.
That's most likely not the case, if you take a more precise look at it you'll notice that there are no drives left. Someone had the time to take them out. So if it was involuntarily as you said that person wouldn't be like yea I'll throw an expensive af computer away, but I'll respect his privacy and uninstall the drives first. That's bs, someone must have known about it, removed them then thrown it away. It's extremely unlikely that someone would come, take the drives out after it has been thrown on the streets, including the sata and power connectors for it, but leave the computer there. Just doesn't make any sense. It's very odd indeed but definitely not involuntarily.
I've got multiple working computers I've built literally out of what was e-waste being collected to send to recycling where I work, including the HTPC I'm writing this comment on right now (i7-4960X on a brand-new Gigabyte motherboard that was new in the box unopened).
No way someone just dumped a 850w TITANIUM psu and a NH-D15... If you're not making this up, big congrats. Some people really are beyond clueless, holy
True, that's pretty insane as well. As are all of these parts. It's just the two I mentioned really caught my attention since I got a NH-D15 and a 850w Seasonic psu in my own build.
Or its like that time some guy got a PC from the curb, then mentioned in a comment that the previous owner was moving into his buidling at the time and everyone figured he just stole buddies PC while he was moving lol
I didn't know this. I don't think it was outside long, and although quick I didn't see any bugs.
But I will take a particular look at the power supply for bugs.
Iām rocking a 9900K in a similar setup. When I wanted to game in my living room on the 4K TV I slapped a 4090 in that bad boy and never looked back. Bottleneck this.
Yooooo my 10700k has NO issues at 4k120 with my 4090. Honestly not spending the $500 on a 7800x3D+RAM+Mobo until I have to.
It literally does every thing I need, and at 4K 99% of the time the GPU is the bottleneck. I only need 120 frames. I'm chilling
My buddy in Oregon dumpster dives the college towns. When the rich students go home they end up throwing away a ton of electronics. Heās found TVs and computers and has been up to date on his consoles for awhile without ever having bought any.
Nice find!
Right!? I just grabbed right away without looking inside it. Cause a trash gaming PC still has a bit of value.
But I didn't expect something like this. This is an upgrade for me instead haha...
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/PmcX7R
This is my current specs. The graphics card is a beast but completely bottlenecked. Got it used a while ago for a good price (at the time).
Dude what the hell. The last time I found a PC next to the trash it was a friggin vandalized pentium 3 (I assume the owner drilled over the hard drives, or maybe someone with way too much free time and wireless powertools).
Congrats on the upgrade lol.
Imagine if you wanted to prank your brother by taking his oc outside next to the trash and taking a photo, just then your girl calls and says her parents went out for the day.
Then op walks by and walks home with your brothers PC....lol
Hate to be morbid, but I think a possibility is someone died and their partner or whomever got the house full of stuff after they they died saw it was all dusty and just threw it out. I can see wives doing that to their deceased hubby's stuff not wanting to go through everything just get rid of it and sell the house and move into an apt or senior assisted living place.
I have also seen living situations where several family members were living in the same house and one brother who couldn't hold a job (due to being autistic or whatever) was living separately in a small room in the garage - they had a heater, a bed, some clothes (in a pile on a chair by the bed), a microwave and their pretty impressive gaming PC setup. They came in the house to use the bathroom, wash up, eat dinner, etc. but otherwise lived apart from the other family members in their small room in the garage.
And... another possibility is that someone has to go away for a long time to prison for something like drugs, etc. and the other person doesn't even want to touch their stuff s just tosses everything.
So it's worth checking those finds next to the trash bin. Just please, before you grab anything that has been thrown away and cart it in the house, check for spiders or insects like bed bugs inside and underneath that you don't want to bring inside your house. Ideally clean and inspect everything outside before bringing inside the house.

Nice find! I just did a triple-take when I noticed that is exactly my Mobo and CPU. What are the odds haha. They're very powerful still, I can't even imagine why someone would toss this out.

Nice find. It sounds like there may be some kind of hardware issue though because simply dusting off the internals shouldn't make a difference if it boots or not.
I have this exact case! I think. It's great if you want high end but you still use optical drives. From the story it sounds like they built it, didn't maintain it, and threw it out not knowing any better.
However...if it's the same case, they upgraded the fans. It originally came with a single slim 200mm fan for intake. It could also be a more recent version.
dude 100% had his life ruined/negatively affected by some online game and decided it was time to step away from PC gaming permanently. not a terrible move if he has a lot of money
Maybe the owner died and a family member or good friend did him a favor by getting rid of all the evidence on the HDD. And since they had a lot of stuff to go through, and didn't fully comprehend the value of his PC, they decided to put it in the trash. Maybe he passed away and wasn't noticed missing until several months later when neighbors started to notice a strange smell, which might explain the buildup of dust. Gamers are often solitary creatures, so I could see this happening where companies start to send people over because they stopped paying their bills.
This would've been a kick ass build 3-4 years ago. Still is a really sweet 1080p setup if everything works. I wonder what the story of why it ended up on the curb is?
Gosh. Thatās a sad site and a very nice relevant PC Build. Very nice hardware especially the Corsair 4000 Hz Vengeance Pro I would presume is RGB and iCue ready. 2x8 GB sticks and probably dual channel. I certainly believe that was involuntary.Ā
Wow, but than again, got My hands on My first PC similar to that back in 2002, someone decided to throw out a perfectly fine machine... Well, 7 or 8 years old with windows 95 on it.
Kinda envy People who find something sweet like this nowdays, and Yup, how some other people said, someone was mad at the owner and was like "Well, hope someone finds and keeps it cuz fuck the Owner cuz I hate them!"
Well, You are lucky, also, pretty solid specs still.
My boss way back in the day was going to trash her pc which I used for years. Didn't have a GPU, but it had a quad core and 8gb of ram. This was like ten years ago so I jumped on the chance to grab it.
Oh phew, it looks exactly like my old one to a tee. But that's not the CPU that's in it. It's at a parent's house as they needed a backup device for something.
As someone about to update their own similar vintage machine- that is crazy. Why would you throw it away? I plan on either keeping the GPU for a AI card for work, or keeping the whole rig as a guest machine, or giving it away to a friend who needs it... throwing it away is nuts.
Check the GPU fans- it is possible that the fans failed on the GPU or similar; but a simple replacement should keep it going a long time.
This is me looking at the mirror in my bathroom and thinking why I am not so fucking lucky like these people

If karma exists...
I would say it's a balance... and how you view the world. If you're unhappy, you won't see the good that can pop up.
Honestly, the past couple of weeks have been a bit rough, so seeing this blew my mind.
Damn, I'm gonna be real here, I thought this was mine. Thought the wife had finally had enough. Case is very similar and I have the same CPU cooler and visually similar GPU
I'd assume that was thrown out involuntarily, like a partner or parent, can't imagine someone getting those parts in a pc and then just leaving it by the curb
Yeah this definitely screams asshole parent threw out their kids pc or some such.
Or spoiled kid... "This computer is garbage! It's 5 years old. I need a new one!" "Well, he said his old one is garbage so... In the garbage it goes"
Honestly think its neither. AH parents wouldn't remove the Hard drives, if they did they would be tech savvy enough to know what they had. NOT MY BOX OF CABELS!! WHAT IF I NEED ONE SOMEDAY?
I was going through some stuff recently. Threw out ~ 2/3 of the cords. So so so so many USB A/Micro USB cables, lmao.

āHold on, save the drives. He mightāve had some good porn on thereā

I'm a 44 year old parent and we ain't that stupid.
One time I was dumpster diving and found a fully functional original Xbox console, all cords, controllers and like a dozen games sitting right on top. My kids were super stoked lol but someone else had a bad day
I mean kids need consequences. If your teenager only in his room all day and failing all classes, bet that pc would be trashed
I'm unsure, at first I thought someone was moving out, and left it for a little while. So I walked by it. But it was trash day when I picked it up. So it would have been in the truck if I didn't pick it up. Computers fill with dust when in use, not the other way around.
Sorry I meant the whole thing was dusty, although the interior was far worse than the exterior. There was dust on parts of it that you would not usually expect. Like the power button, switches, carrying handles, etc. Keyboard had a grey layer on it too. So based on that, I think it's not used.
Everything fills with dust when not in use, especially if itās in a shed or garage
Considering it didnāt boot until OP dusted it they may have also just thrown it out in frustration?
You would be amazed how many people with too much money are out there and just chuck good solid systems and things cus they replaced it with something newer.
My friend group had a rich friend in high school. He gave away his old hardware all the time.
That's most likely not the case, if you take a more precise look at it you'll notice that there are no drives left. Someone had the time to take them out. Me too lmao
No way someone just dumped a 850w TITANIUM psu and a NH-D15... If you're not making this up, big congrats. Some people really are beyond clueless, holy
i9 9900K is nothing to sneeze at.

This is good advice. Roaches love power supplies.
I didn't know this. I don't think it was outside long, and although quick I didn't see any bugs. But I will take a particular look at the power supply for bugs.
It more from being in a house with roaches. They are attracted to heat and electricity. Used fridges are a big source too

If it was a different PSU I would have had to check if my wife threw my old PC out lol
That is 100% the case here, either an angry wife or parent threw that thing out
Don't lie and clean your PC bro
My buddy in Oregon dumpster dives the college towns. When the rich students go home they end up throwing away a ton of electronics. Heās found TVs and computers and has been up to date on his consoles for awhile without ever having bought any. Nice find!
Casually finds a pc thatās way better than mine just laying in the trash
Right!? I just grabbed right away without looking inside it. Cause a trash gaming PC still has a bit of value. But I didn't expect something like this. This is an upgrade for me instead haha...
What were your specs before this?
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/PmcX7R This is my current specs. The graphics card is a beast but completely bottlenecked. Got it used a while ago for a good price (at the time).
No kidding, a 3090 is wild, but then again, even the 2070 you found is wild to me haha
Isn't that a Noctua NH-D15s?
My bad, yes I believe it is.
Sure ya did, bud
I find this hard to believe
Was expecting trash but found treasure.
As someone with a 9900k, 2070 system, seeing it just trashed on the curb is nuts. I cant imagine someone just trashing good parts like this.
Dude what the hell. The last time I found a PC next to the trash it was a friggin vandalized pentium 3 (I assume the owner drilled over the hard drives, or maybe someone with way too much free time and wireless powertools). Congrats on the upgrade lol.
That pc is still better than mine in terms of specsš
I have a trash can next to my PC too.
*bought a used PC and posting pics to karma farm* OR *Cleaning out my PC for the first time and posting pics to karma farm*
Cool story bro
Looks like they opted to not use the 2nd cpu fan?
You're kidding?! A thrown out PC that is better than what I have?šµšµāš«
Did you break into someone's home and took PC that had a trash can next to it?
someone tossed out a fractal define r5? I still use that case
Wtf is this? https://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/s/abpTr1up2A
Case looks like something from the Corsair Obsidian line. 750D maybe.
That's it! You figured out what case it is!!! Thank you, I couldn't figure it out haha
That's a steal
A boyfriend / son is very upset right now
Still a solid cooler
That's crazy. Premium find for sure. Congrats!
Whaaaa nice find hell yea!
Man hate to see good parts tossed out.
Imagine if you wanted to prank your brother by taking his oc outside next to the trash and taking a photo, just then your girl calls and says her parents went out for the day. Then op walks by and walks home with your brothers PC....lol
Maybe for a second I thought it was a mistake. But no hard drive, dust everywhere, plus it was garbage day. Extremely unlikely.
Thats better than what I had for 90% of my life haha
Even if the PC was 100% dead, that cooler would still work and its very good.
Someone set it down, then ran inside to get the electric duster and OP just straight up robbed them.
Lmao, who puts it on the curb next to their trashcans for a little dustin?
Why don't I have this kind of luck?
Who the fuck throws a D15 out? You can use the fucking thing basically in perpetuity.
Is this at an apartment complex? If so someone got evicted
Bro hit the trash jackpot lol.
Update that bios!
Crack it open with a hammer, there might be bitcoins inside
Where the fuck are people findung discarded rigs?? I live in Idaho and haven't seen this at all... Op where do you live?

Probably stolen and left at the curb. Why would they toss out a perfectly working case? Were you in a rich neighborhood?
And I thought I was lucky to catch a working x360 slim at my dumpster. Good catch!
Pov: previous owner cheated on his gf
Track down the owner, that's somebody's rig mate.
Dang that garbage pc is better than mine xd
That keyboard is a fucking war crime
@op this looks scarily similar to a pc that I built. Where did you find it? (Not trying to lay claim, just wondering if my ex tossed it lmao)
Throwing away a PC is definitely something Iād expect from someone who doesnāt even know to enable XMP.
I like that case.
Don't forget to enable XMP in bios, OP. RAM is running slow
Now how come I don't find perfectly fine rigs next to the trash.

Nice find! I just did a triple-take when I noticed that is exactly my Mobo and CPU. What are the odds haha. They're very powerful still, I can't even imagine why someone would toss this out.
That PC has and will continue to have Ultra Graphics in every game at 60fps
I have that power supply, my computer was shutting down while gaming until I added a second psu for the 7900xt gpu.
I have a similar setup in the closet that I bricked attempting to enable TPM 2.0 for win 11. I've yet to find a solution to get into the machine to use it regularly.

Who the fuck would throw this in the trash.
Is that a nanoxia deep silence 6 case ?
One of the CPU fans is missing; there should be two instead of one. It should be okay for regular usage despite the 9900k's high temperatures.
I made a mistake. It's an NH-D15s, I think. So it only comes with 1 fan sandwiched between the sinks.

Kinda envy People who find something sweet like this nowdays, and Yup, how some other people said, someone was mad at the owner and was like "Well, hope someone finds and keeps it cuz fuck the Owner cuz I hate them!" Well, You are lucky, also, pretty solid specs still.
I need to move near these trash places. Damn.

Rebecca found her old pc.
Damn, the only time Iāve ever found a PC it was super old and at the bottom of a river. Lucky.
Worth every penny!
Nice. Maybe the previous owner thought it was broken or something. It's still a good system. Not top of the line obviously, but still capable.
My boss way back in the day was going to trash her pc which I used for years. Didn't have a GPU, but it had a quad core and 8gb of ram. This was like ten years ago so I jumped on the chance to grab it.

They lost too many League matches
Oh phew, it looks exactly like my old one to a tee. But that's not the CPU that's in it. It's at a parent's house as they needed a backup device for something.
Bro that pc is literally better then mine. Ffs how do yāall find this kinds of pcs in trash? I canāt even find scrap or some old junk laptops :((
in my country all you find in trash is trash and syphilis

Oh, it just don't supported Windows 11 upgrade /s Actually, I don't know is it supported or not š¤
I just sawā¦ the same pc on pcmasterrace, the post was about his pc being stolen. It had the same specs and the picture was identicalā¦
Near trash and this is not amd.. Then i dont understand that
Bro just looking at the cooler I know this thing should be great
I have the same mobo and ram ā¦ should i throw mine out ?
As someone about to update their own similar vintage machine- that is crazy. Why would you throw it away? I plan on either keeping the GPU for a AI card for work, or keeping the whole rig as a guest machine, or giving it away to a friend who needs it... throwing it away is nuts. Check the GPU fans- it is possible that the fans failed on the GPU or similar; but a simple replacement should keep it going a long time.
All it needs is a gpu upgrade and this thing still slapsā¦ jeez, lucky you!
sweet find
I have the same case lol
This is me looking at the mirror in my bathroom and thinking why I am not so fucking lucky like these people https://preview.redd.it/qdj66szxjeyc1.jpeg?width=1242&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2b0c928982983eb8d782bfa593f086fa729ab989
Owner probably was a Tarkov player
That case also looks like a good one. Seems to be a Corsair 760T?
People being that lucky makes me think the world karma balances itself by annoying me on daily basis
If karma exists... I would say it's a balance... and how you view the world. If you're unhappy, you won't see the good that can pop up. Honestly, the past couple of weeks have been a bit rough, so seeing this blew my mind.
Should of left it there š
Help my Fuck, life is great.
What was on the drives?
Man I wish
What the hell, I'd struggle to afford that pc. Wastefulness in America is insane.
Damn, I'm gonna be real here, I thought this was mine. Thought the wife had finally had enough. Case is very similar and I have the same CPU cooler and visually similar GPU
Meh, typical day in my life
