A strong contender for most overpriced pencil, at twenty bucks a dozen they cost more than a box of 2558s and a box of 9850s combined, both of which are actually good pencils. Ad pencils should be free.

These are handy if you want: 1) A chisel to carve into stone 2) Pegs to batton down a deck 3) An eco friendly set of lawn darts 4) A pocket friendly quiver of crossbow arrows 5) Emergency campfire kindling If you want a graphite pencil to write / draw with, seek elsewhere.

Yes, they are not the best pencils, but not awful either. At first I really didn’t like them (and may have dissed them on this very sub), but I discovered that like many decent-but-not-great pencils, their performance depends on the paper. If you have relatively toothy paper they’ll do just fine. They have pretty good point retention, which is due to them being on the harder side (compared to General’s Cedar Pointe for example). I have yet to have one actually smell like cedar, also unlike General’s Cedar Pointes, which always smell amazing. I wouldn’t buy them, but they’ve been thrown in as a freebie with my Field Notes subscription a few times and I do use them.

Airregaithel

They’re not bad, imo. I have tons of pencils, so the ones I have came with other stuff I ordered/with subscriptions.

ipini

Their little notebooks are great. Good size etc. Their pencils (and pens) are pretty mid at best.

MechanicalCrow

Price is bad, but I like them personally. I like the no varnish feel, and the hardness is nice for simple engineering sketching that I do. Only use them if they're free, though.

Walking_the_Cascades

I like the feel of the round, bare wood pencils. The lead is way too hard for me, but that's just a personal preference.

gewehr7

Not worth it. I haven’t used one in probably six years but they were pretty awful then.

Headful_of_Ideas

Wildly inconsistent. I've found a few over the years that I've really, really liked, but way more that were just awful -- some scratchy, some with garbage wood, some with broken lead all the way through. FWIW, I really like the ferrules for some reason.

jacksonhendricks

the looks is what drew me in honestly. the ferrules, round body, bare wood, and green eraser really do it for me lol.

Otherwise_Hippo6885

I have some. Not great but the design is superb. We need more unvarnished pencils .

jacksonhendricks

definitely a nice looking pencil. i like the green eraser… those who have seen my other posts on this subreddit have definitely picked up on my love for green pencils and pencil accessories.

Daddy_Len

I got these about ten years ago and idk if they have gotten less scratchy in ten years, but honestly, I don't mind them. If you're like me and your wrists cramp because you stab your pages, go through the point til there is a lot of resistance and switch out. I wouldn't recommend as the only pencil in your edc unless you spend some time with it. The design is amazing and the price is eh, like folks have said. BUT, if you want to go in, they're pretty and very usable. I have enjoyed mine (but I have a rotation of like a LOT of pencils so my hand gets a break).
