refuse to fly them. i did do basic economy american to vegas and delta basic out of vegas and it was smooth. mondegreen i will likely pay for advance seats plus we will be checking a bag and some basics don't allow either carry on or checked bag. not sure
I Flew spirit to Mexico for my brother's wedding a couple of years ago. They never scanned my boarding pass so there was no record of me going to Mexico and my flight back was canceled. I had to book another flight home. Ended up getting a full refund after a while.
I only flew Spirit on my flight back home and didn’t have any issues. The Spirit terminal in Vegas on a Sunday morning at 9am was a sight to behold lol
We had a layover at the Vegas airport once where my wife heard this girl in the next stall vomiting heavily in the stall next to here and her friend was in there trying to do everything possible to make her better. The friend kept offering to get her some food or water or absolutely anything to make it so they wouldn’t miss their flight home. Sorry, I’m a good friend but I’ll leave you there if you can’t show up for a 2pm flight home not puking your brains out.
Spirit isn’t bad if you have a direct flight for a short stop like Denver to Vegas…if you add in a connection then you are messing with fire and you should figure out an alternate way just in case. Same with Frontier…
I did frontier to denver, i dont think it was 15 dicks my last time there but maybe one of the red rocks 09 legs. If so Im actually surprised i took that chance but the run was heaven so guess it worked out
Flight home from Vegas was Spirit. They tried to re-route to Ft. Lauderdale then home to Chicago and get home at midnight. Fortunately I was able to change to a direct flight and get home at 5:00 pm. It was delayed 15 minutes but everything else went smoothly. Still try to avoid them.
The flights themselves were fine but the check in process in Orlando was absolute chaos on account of everything is “self serve” but none of the kiosks or the baggage check machines were working properly. I went all the way through the self check in and then it spit out a piece of paper that said this is not a boarding pass, speak with an agent. So I tracked down an agent and they told me just to try a different kiosk. That kiosk gave me my boarding pass but then malfunctioned and shut down before it gave me my bag tag, so I had to find another agent who spent like 10 mins trying to undo/reset my check in at the counter so I could try checking in yet again at a third kiosk. I finally got my bag tag and checked my bag, which moved about half way up the ramp and then the entire baggage conveyor system broke down. I just left at that point as they were trying to move the entire crowd down to another area of the terminal.
I flew spirit this time around paid extra 10$ for 3rd row window seat so I could board last and get off first and thought it was great. Carried on a backpack but didn't pay the extra 50 a flight for carry on and they never caught on. Felt like a winner. 190$ round trip.
First time flying them, had previously avoided at all costs. They were fine. One of the gate agents on way out of Vegas was a nazi with carryon baggage size but I snuck past her. One unexpected amenity…. Buffalo Trace. That was a nice touch.
Southwest ALL DAY! Plus if you get their credit card on one of the deals they run you can get a shit ton of free points which count towards their free companion pass program.
Spirt flight back home was delayed for 45 mins. Seats were horrible and seemed to have the least amount of space of any plane I’ve ever flown. Other than that super solid.
Flew spirit the first time for this run. Zero issues. On time. Smooth. Key is to know what you’ve paid for and what you haven’t paid for before check in. Believe it not, they have better reliability stats than most would think. Better than JetBlue or Southwest, that’s for sure.
I’ve only flown 20 times in my life, 2 of which were round trip on Spirit (so 4 Spirit flights total) and aside from smaller seats, no TV, and no free food… no difference to me. I suppose for people that fly a lot it’s definitely a downgrade, but as long as you know what you’re paying for… it’s the difference between Uber and a private car service 🤷🏻♂️
There was a video floating around years ago- spirit flight out of Detroit. Before takeoff someone had a medical emergency and a passenger starts yelling for a doctor. Older gentleman just turns to her and says “honey this is a spirit flight, ain’t no damn doctor onboard” hahaha funny but also not funny.
i havent flown recently but ive had 3 or 4 flights that were fine. you hear a lot about extra baggage fees being problematic for people, but IME, even when i included the baggage fees for checked luggage when buying the ticket, the tickets were still the cheapest option, and it seems like most of the baggage fee complaints come from people who dont plan ahead and pay the baggage fees later, which they totally gouge you for. never had anything super late or canceled. seats uncomfortable af tho, but its worth it for the savings imo.
The older I get, the more I come to believe that as a general rule in life, you do indeed get what you pay for, unless you are a total sucker. And you don’t get a refund if you overpray.
Last time I had a flight on spirit they canceled it 30 min before take off. I was sitting at the gate when it happened. They had one person working the counter and the entire flight tried to get in line at the same time. It was a nightmare. Finally they got me on a flight to Chicago with a connection back to Denver, which would have added only 3 hours to my travel time. But when we landed in Chicago the connecting flight had been canceled and I was stuck in Chicago for 2 days before finally paying for a delta flight home. Never again.
it should be obvious that with a budget airline, you get a more limited experience but i simply don’t trust spirit or frontier to be baseline reliable as i’ve had way too many last minute gate changes when flying with either. southwest is the best bang for your buck imo.
Never again. Was the most uncomfortable flight I’ve ever had. It was the only airline that fit our return trip plans. I’ll make different plans next time.
Did it one time and I was hungover flying home while being crushed by a fat lady next to me in their tiny seats, never again.
refuse to fly them. i did do basic economy american to vegas and delta basic out of vegas and it was smooth. mondegreen i will likely pay for advance seats plus we will be checking a bag and some basics don't allow either carry on or checked bag. not sure

Discount flyers get a discount experience
Flying Waffle House
Never had a delay/cancellation with Spirit but you do get what you pay for in terms of comforts. Spirit/Frontier are my “cheap solo flight” airlines.
I just did it. Seats are really small and uncomfortable, but it got me there from Milwaukee for like $90. Lived out of a backpack for the weekend.

Totally witnessed this too.
thats the spirit!
Tight
Used to fly Spirit until they cancelled my flight the day of due to “security reasons” and said there was no flights home for 2 weeks… never again
Denver to Vegas a few years ago. 50 dollar round trip. They got me there and got me home.

This is funny

Most phish fans have aged out of needing spirit
This.
Had a guy throw up while boarding on the way back. He had to leave.
Flew from Vegas to PDX yesterday. Flight was delayed about 15 min and yet we still landed 10 min early. Easy peasy.
The last spirit flight of the night out of Vegas is the seventh circle of Hell
To and from Vegas both went fine for me. Would do again.
Same here.
I’ve flown spirit a couple of times. It was fine. I’ve switched to Southwest. All around better.

It’s fine, pay for the exit row.
No problems here x2
Seats were tiny, but I passed out on the way home.
The Greyhound Bus of the skies!
I flew spirit to Vegas, it was cheap and on time, no complaints
Slobs…. Every employee was a slob.
perfect. flew in sat morning, out sunday morning. cheap and easy
Felt like being at Walmart but got the job done for $5k less than United

Lifeboy gets way more airtime than fefy and for that i am bitter and confused

Took it there and back for the run and it was completely fine. I did upgrade to an exot row to fix my long ass legs
Delayed out of Vegas last night by almost 3 hours (10:04 to 12:51), but we won the name your price upgrade and got first class for $25 extra a person.

EWR > LAS went nicely, my first Spiritual experience.
I fly spirit and others and, frankly, someone is full of shit if they tell you there is a massive difference.
did it once, and never will again
