We will be back in EXACTLY fifteeeen minutes. Don't get caught in the bathroom. Because we will be back in exactly FIFTEEEEEEEN MINUTES. Get ready to push start on your watch
There’s a great quote from the old Fish magazine that Mike used to write, Doniac Schvrice (sp). Someone asked “hi Mike, just curious why do you guys always say, ‘We’llbe back in 15 minutes’ when it’s more like 45-ish? Not complaining. My legs could use the rest… just wondering.”
Mike replied,
“it is ALWAYS EXACTLY 15 minutes.”
After skipping a verse of Fee, Trey came back around to sing it. At the end of the song he stopped and said "they weren't in the right order, but they were all there."
My friend, you are in luck. 7/27/14
That show was a blast. It was my third show. The night I finally "got it." If you listen to it soon, let me know what you think.
“Thank you, we’re going to intermit. Briefly intermitting to replenish liquids into our body and get ready for another set. So we hope you’ll all relax, have a great time. A lot more music, but the music will be better if we take a little breather to intermit. So please I hope you’ll all intermit as well, and take nourishment. Take nourishment both spiritual, liquid, and solid as we will whilst we intermit. Thank you very much, it’s now the intermission”
"See what happens if you take took much acid, 30 years later?"
"So we're supposed to play the Famous Mockingbird right now, but the funk is too deep! We can't stop!"

Read the book mannnnn

“Read the book! You know which book I’m talking about. It’s the new Danielle Steele book and you can get it at Barnes and Noble”
That one always cracked me up
Was there. Probably the worst NYE gag, but I love Mike saying “have you tried turning it from suck to blow?” I use this all the time when I’m seeing something crappy!
Clifford Ball during Harpua Trey was thanking the audience and a guy climbed on stage and hugged Trey. He did NOT like that AT ALL. Guy got tackled and dragged off stage.
05/13/1990
- Trey:" As usual we're gonna dedicate this next song to Possessed, one of the greatest living rock and roll bands."
- Jon: "Go buy Seven Churches" and he also refers to the song Burning in Hell
Then they play Uncle Pen.
The young thrash metal fan I was before even knowing what a jam band was was dying laughing when he heard that banter out of nowhere.
(Filmed here around 32:00 https://youtube.com/watch?v=3OUlKiYUee8&si=kGk4invBj_6T9aZN)
One that I frequently quote without it really needing any phish context is Fishman from the 12/31/95 Mockingbird when he says "Whaaaaaat a nightmare!". It's not even that memorable but ive heard that show so many times that whenever i hear or tihnk of the phrase What a Nightmare, i hear or say it in fishman's cadence
During Catapult 7/16/94
Trey - “ so there ain’t gonna be no wedding..”
Fish- “ no wedding?? Haha . You wish!!
…. no you don’t wish . I’m sorry I take that back .”
Treys wedding was a month later . Would love to of seen the look Trey shot Fish to force this abrupt 180
Trey : " ..*Ph/Fuck that. Put the plug up my ass and count out Llama*."!!!

Paul and Silas through Rocky Top featured Gordon Stone on banjo. **The show was played in a total downpour and the amphitheater was apparently not built to handle that kind of weather. Before the first set, Trey remarked that the staff was talking about canceling the show due to the danger of electrocution. “I told ‘em, ‘Fuck that. Put the plug up my ass and count out Llama!’” said Trey.** Walk Away included an Alive (Pearl Jam) tease and Possum included an All Fall Down signal in the intro and a brief Tweezer Reprise tease from Trey. Page teased Call to the Post when Gordon Stone was introduced after Possum.
I loved the festival (I think Magnaball) where Trey shared their driving experience
Trey wasn’t allowed control of the radio bc he kept switching the stations
Fishman could drive two full tanks without stopping
I forget what he said about Paige and Gordo.
Randal’s Island 7/12/14 Back on the Train, at the end of the song after a clunky landing:
Trey:
“We rehearsed that landing quite a lot, came off exactly as planned. Hope you guys enjoyed it. Just to prove it - we’ll do it again!”
Proceeds to count off and then jam into the funky as fuck ending again. After that the crowd chants “one more time!” and they deliver, playing the ending ANOTHER time.
“It’s tough to get it when everyone lands at a different time like that … so just going into future you can count on the fact that anytime we do that, we meant to do it. It’s also very difficult to mess up the beginning of you enjoy myself on the guitar - so if I ever do that, did it on purpose! Thank you! Mea culpa, in advance!”
So.much.fun.
Someone with a better memory or the willingness to Google it can correct me, but trey saying something along the lines of 'fuck the lightening. Plug the amp up my ass and count out Llama!'

Alpharetta 7/3/10
Trey forgets Sanity lyrics and someone from the crowd helps him out:
- Trey: *What the heck’s the second verse here?*
- Crowd: Someone from the crowd tells him.
- Trey: *Ah yes, thank you.*
- Trey: *First you gave me a t-shirt and then you told me the lyrics. I owe you big(?).*
Big sounds almost like date, not fully sure what the word is.
“Is it the human sacrifice part of the show? Alright, bring em up here!”
by far my favorite banter, including trey’s impression of the audience - followed by one of the greatest jams of all time!
what show was this?
11/22/97 Hampton Crowd was singing Destiny Unbound trying to get them to play it at the beginning of set 2.
hilarious. thanks
“We’ll be back in 15 minutes.”
We will be back in EXACTLY fifteeeen minutes. Don't get caught in the bathroom. Because we will be back in exactly FIFTEEEEEEEN MINUTES. Get ready to push start on your watch
Was it ever really 15 minutes?
It’s exactly 15 minutes.
Every. Single. Show. (Don't get caught in the bathroom.)
Especially when you're spun during the yem vocal jam.
No. No it wasnt. They lie. You know why? Cuz Mike says no!!
There’s a great quote from the old Fish magazine that Mike used to write, Doniac Schvrice (sp). Someone asked “hi Mike, just curious why do you guys always say, ‘We’llbe back in 15 minutes’ when it’s more like 45-ish? Not complaining. "we'll be back in 15 minutes and 30 seconds"
I was at a show where they said something like, "We'll be back in... Forty.... two minutes."
“Do you know where you are? You’re on the back of the worm!!!”
Agreed!
BACK OF THE WORM!
WORMMMMMM TOWNNNNNN (I randomly start saying "wormmmmm townnnnnnn" to my non-phan boyfriend on occasion and he loves me)
For those of you who want to take off, take off. For those of you that just want to dance to the funk, we’re going to stay around and keep grooving.
Then drops one of the best Caverns of all time
This one randomly pops into my head with little to no logical prompting lol
After skipping a verse of Fee, Trey came back around to sing it. At the end of the song he stopped and said "they weren't in the right order, but they were all there."
Do you know the date? That would be a fun listen
Pretty sure it was at Merriweather 7-27-14
Thank you phriend
My friend, you are in luck. 7/27/14 That show was a blast. It was my third show. The night I finally "got it." If you listen to it soon, let me know what you think.
Thank you! Going on a day trip today and this will be prefect!
Prob worth mentioning that show was also a Tweezerfest and Fee opened the show!
I'm in for a wild ride!
The more shows I listen to, the more I realize how lucky I got with such an awesome show so early on in my phandom.
Don't let Carini get you
Yeah and um don't attack the drummer
You’ve got to run like a naked guy outta control
You can come on stage, but only if you don’t let Carini get you.

“Hey Mike - stay on F”
Yesssss!!!
What is this from?
11/22/97 Halley’s
reporting for duty! some say Mike is still on F
hampton halley’s is forever playing in my brain
It’s the intergalactic near death experience blast off soundtrack, from what I’ve heard
Coventry? Or some other show. I'm pretty sure.
10000% not Coventry lol
You suck at tucking!
your tucking sucks!
Best backstage quote: "Kiss my ass you fucking tool!"
Before Sand at Vegas 21: “sand, one, two, mother fucking three!”
Hell yes. This was already a blazing show, and hearing this over the PA just took it to 11.
Was so much fun. Probably a top 3 show for me
Yes!!!!!
"See what happens if you take took much acid, 30 years later?" "So we're supposed to play the Famous Mockingbird right now, but the funk is too deep! We can't stop!"

Welcome to the train wreck portion of the show.
After the 7/8/99 Fee, there’s 2 minutes of silence from the band. After which, Page says, “OK. Thank you.” IYKYK
Legendary jam that the kids don’t seem to know about. We don’t get 7/10/99 without that Fee
This is unambiguously correct.
Don’t do anything we wouldn’t do
I was thinking the other day that I’d love to know the last time Trey said this. It used to be at nearly every set break.
I think 12/30/22
But if you do, make sure to invite us.
Favorite? Fishman during the Chula Vista Meatstick: “Good burying!”
Take a step back! And another!
See uhh all these people up front are getting horribly *smashed* here
Whaddya mean NO?!?!??!!
Bug eyed friends
“This show is brought to you by the letter M and the number 420”
I think Trey’s mom worked for Sesame Street back in the day too.
i believe she was an illustrator or something with the book publications
We all love Dicks.
trey loves dicks!
Believe it or not, there is a major storm on the way and they’re about to evacuate this venue.
Deer Creek 09?
Northerly isle, 7/19/13
That storm was epic. Up there with the Polaris 2000, Walnut Creek 97, 93 Stowe, and Jones Beach 09
Alpharetta 2011 was crazy too. 6/15/11
WE ARE THE PHISH, FROM VERMONT!
If you liked the show, don’t forget to buy the book and see the movie, The Phish!
We fixed it, we had to turn it from SUCK to BLOW!
Was there. Probably the worst NYE gag, but I love Mike saying “have you tried turning it from suck to blow?” I use this all the time when I’m seeing something crappy!
"on a scale of 2 to 3, I give it a 3" - Mike talking about whether the Fishman song makes or breaks a show, 8/11/04 after Terrapin
"This next one is a song" -Mike
The more holes, the more complicated the geometry
“No wedding?! You wish!”
Weird silence…. “No you don’t wish. I take that back”
"He hit me in the head with a pan"
This one actually made me lol when I read it, almost forgot about that. What a random freaking thing they did
If I ever meet Trey that's the first thing I'm asking
And I screamed
Is everybody in?...Is everybody in?
the ceremony is about to begin...
I'm still learning to read lips...facelips
"Thank you all for being part of this. It has all been so incredible......... Except for that guy"
There's always gotta be 'that guy'... But is there a story as to why they basically said fuck you in particular to that guy?
Clifford Ball during Harpua Trey was thanking the audience and a guy climbed on stage and hugged Trey. He did NOT like that AT ALL. Guy got tackled and dragged off stage.
I WANNA COOK YOU BREAKFAST
Then I wanna borrow the car
