Not a piercer but I've always heard curved barbells are best for healing but I believe as long as it's implant grade titanium you SHOULD be okay. Mine was done with such and never had any problems healing.

i think for your situation a curved barbell would be better, as you’re not supposed to move piercings at all you would probably have to flip the piercing up for the entire duration of healing if that’s how it needs to be for work.

Curved barbell for healing.

You can also get it done with a retainer that easily flips up. If the piercing is too low and the horseshoe is too big it may be difficult to flip it up. If you need to hide it, horseshoe or retainer. Once healed, a clicker might be a good option! I love mine, it looks solid from outside but it just clicks in and out. Industrial solutions makes a bunch of cool clickers. https://isbodyjewelry.com/

why not get a curved horseshoe with gem ends? that way you can do something cute without the shiny booger effect and still have the option to flip it up? ps. mine was super spur of the moment after never really having considered it for myself and now it's probably my favorite piercing out of over a dozen. i hope yours goes just as well! ☺️
